How to order 3 blinds with 1 valance

This applies for all horizontal products (wood, fauxs and metals). Do you have a large window where it is just to wide to put a single blind? This chart will show you how to measure for this and save the $75 shipping cost.
1. Measure the entire width of the opening to determine the inside deminsion valance width. Deduct 1/8" to determine the net valance size to be ordered.
2. Measure blinds # 1 from (left) inside window openings to the center of the mullion. Add 1/4" to determine the inside mount size to be ordered.
3. Measure blind # 2 from the center of the mullion to the center of the mullion. Add 1/4" to determine the inside mount blind size to be ordered.
4. Measure blind # from the center of mullion to indise window opening (right). Add 1/4" to determine the inside mount size to be ordered.

Simply Stated , Order all 3 blinds as "inside the window" and ADD 1/4" to each one. Order the valance the entire width of the window minus 1/8"

I got this information from a Comfortex flier but unfortunately I couldn't find a digital photo of this so I scanned it. Still gets the point across I guess. All information comes from the flier. Even houses which appear to be well insulated may not be as energy efficient as one may think. This house was photographed during the winter using thermal photography, a process which exposes higher temperature zones as indicated by the color transitions. You will notice that the areas around the windows are particularly "hot", proving that a significant amount of interior heat is escaping from these portions of the house.

CSV Code

The CVS Code is that 3 digit number on the back of your credit card. Although not full proof, it is another form of security because technically, you need to have the card in possession in order to have that number. Shades Shutters Blinds hasn't used this feature frankly because we only had one "incident" in eight years. But, two days ago, we got another one and this was a doozy. So, you will now need to have that code starting today or tomorrow in order to place an order. Also, we are going to be using Google checkout soon and it is required there as well. This will help people from ordering stuff off of your card.

Child Safety for your home

This is a brochure Hunter Douglas sent us and I felt will be useful to you. It contains all of their products that have the child safety feature in mind. There are safety features for all of their product but I listed only the ones that have no strings. All the others have strings and appropriate cleats, shorter cords and cord tensioners so that doesn't mean they are excluded if you have kids but these are simple hang and forget items.

Sorry it has been a while for posting but we have been very busy here at Shades Shutters Blinds. We just redesigned the entire back end to make ordering, order look up, status, orders to and from our factories, shipping etc. much more convenient for us and you. We have been designing our colors to run dynamically to make it much easier to manage. I still love the static system we still use but with over 8000 product images, it is getting very difficult to manage. Plus, our web pages load simply too slow and we want to speed that up for you. Since the housing market is not what it used to be, we are also going to start doing some aggressive marketing and no, we will not bug you with emails. Mainly more advertising in the search engines and in local resources such as the Denver Post newspaper, yellow pages other sources. We have also been rebuilding our sample room to pull samples and mail them the actual day you order them. This will get the samples in your hands much quicker than in the past. Looks like we should be wrapped up with all these "side" projects by the end of the month. If you got caught with bugs with your order during the back end switch, thank you for your patience. We test and test before going live but sometimes the only way to tell is for us or worse, a customer to discover this during the actual order process. Everything we sell is blinds but there are tons of different options that we can and have missed a few.

Oh, one more thing, on every product page where it says more options, I added a link for parts and it will pull up a web page or a pdf to show you all the parts for that particular product so, if something breaks or comes missing, looking up the part will be a snap for both of us:)

This means over eight years, and almost one million blinds sold, there have been only three reports to the BBB and all were resolved to the best of our ability and to the satisfaction of this important organization.

Hi. If you are ordering samples, a PO box address is OK. However, if you are placing a blinds order, we need a physical address. No PO Boxes. This can turn a simple order into a total nightmare. Trust us. Just got through with one of these and it was not fun. Secondly, if you are going to not be perminately at your ship to location, please, please order a month or more in advance. You never know what can happen such as back orders, damaged freight etc. and turning the order around after it has shipped can cause the same issues. Thanks.

Blinds not intended for all applications

Friendly reminder. I haven't needed to post any policies and warranties since I started this blog over two years ago but, as stated in our policies and warranty pages, blinds that we offer are meant for actual windows that are on the inside of your location. Projection screens, room dividers, shutters used as door or room separators, outdoor applications etc are just a few examples of no warranty situations. The applications sound great and are doable in most cases but remember, No warranty. Sorry about that. Our manufacturers will not warrant this and neither can we so purchase with caution.

How to clean Vignette Modern Roman Shades

This useful information comes directly from the Hunter Douglas recipe for success series. You need a feather duster and a hand-held vacuum. You need to dust occasionally with a feather duster. You can also vacuum for a more thorough dust removal but only use a low suction, hand held vacuum. You can spot clean with a clean cloth, dampened with warm water and mild detergent. Lastly if they get really dirty, you can take the blind to a professional to deep clean Vignette Shades using the injection/extraction or ultrasonic methods. Do not use the injection/extraction or ultrasonic cleaning methods on the head rail fabric and do not immerse the head rail in any cleaning solutions. You can always refer to the installation instructions.

Sunscreen Discontinuations

Sunscreens to be discontinued are: Strie Bone ST 9000, Strie Taupe ST9010, Strie Cinnamon ST 9020, Strie Dark Beige ST 9030, Vue Veil VV9070, Vue Veil Ivory/Beige VV9080, and Vue Veil Beige VV9090. According to Prestige, the manufacture of this product, "Please be advised that due to manufacturing issues, the fabrics are being discontinued and will be removed from the system. It is unfortunate however, repeated attempts by the supplier to remedy the issues associated with the use of this fabric in the manufacturing process left us with no alternative but to take them out of the collection." Basically too hard to make without mess-ups. They will continued making this product until all resources are used up so if you have an order out for these materials, they will still be made.

New Back End Changes
