Curse my brain for not wishing to shut down until a question was answered. In this case it is something fairly odd for me. A question as to what sort of tool I would need to properly push a brake caliper piston back into place. I don't know about you, but it seems a wee bit odd that the computer guy is going car geek right now.

The answer to that question, for my car at least, is nothing more than a large C clamp. Lucked out it seems.

Summer Heat

Summer is in full swing and it has nearly been a year since I bothered to post last. Such things happen when you are sorting out things in your personal life.

Brighter note, I have acquired a fuck load of new PC games thanks to the Steam Summer Sale. My wallet hates me for it, but I've been loving playing Endless Space over the last few days. Finally started to figure out a strategy on it after achieving a score victory.

Other than gaming and work, I've been making notes for a story I intend to write very soon. Here's to hoping that project turns successful.

Minecraft Rant - Fuck Off Creeper

So it passes that my testbed hardcore world is deleted, not by an epic battle or a stupid mistake I can laugh at. No, by a fucking Creeper blowing up next to me while cave exploring. There goes a few hours of perfecting an enclosed base design complete with lava mob drop grinder.

Nothing I can do now but rebuild my awesome base on my other hardcore world. This time, I plan to gear up before venturing out of my safe little base. Lessons learned.

Dawnguard Impressions

So after waiting an extra week due to plans getting disrupted, Dawnguard is loaded up on my console. Fucking love the shit out of the Vampire Lord power. The fact they give us poison claws and a Force Grip-esque power is really just icing on the cake.

Now, I have to agree with many people that the vampire hunter side of things seems a little barebones by comparison. Expected I suppose. Still need to work through the vampire story arc, but I'm having way too much fun running around annihilating bandits with my new vampiric powers.

If future DLC stacks up to Dawnguard and then surpasses it, Bethesda has a returning customer for new content.

Next Week Is Going To Rock

Now, since Dawnguard has been released I've been fucking amped up. Unfortunately the timing of the release happens to be right when I am tapped out for cash. Curse you bills to the layer of hell reserved for people who talk in theaters.

Good news out of all this, Tuesday is payday. I have errands to run that day anyway, so I can grab a point card with some cash while I'm out or even drop in on a local Game Stop for a DLC card if I feel like visiting with the employees for awhile.

I'm ready for a new adventure in Skyrim, and it starts next week.

C&C - The Game I Love But Suck At

Picked up Command and Conquer: The First Decade a few days ago. Installed, punching in all seven CD keys, and loaded up Generals. Very quickly against three hard level CPUs, I had my ass handed to me.

Minecraft Xbox 360 Update

The first update for Minecraft on the 360 rolled out yesterday. This isn't the promised patch that would get the version up to date with 1.7.3 unfortunately. Instead it is a bug fix patch, which is nice considering there were some pretty bad ones that had me waiting to play again until they were fixed.

There was one glitch that shouldn't have been removed. The dupe glitch. It was the closest thing to creative mode that most people will see for some time to come. Well, another way is inventory editing by transferring your save to your PC.

Here's a video of the dupe glitch in action if you haven't updated yet.

My advice, before updating grab a friend or an extra controller to stock up on supplies for future projects.

Damnit, saw the Joystiq post and had that moment of hope that I would see a message waiting for me informing that I was accepted into the beta. Apparently only .05% of the applicants were accepted and there is another round of invites going out tomorrow.

Here's to hopefully seeing that golden message sitting there tomorrow.

Cell Phone Booster

Looking for a good idea on schematics for how to get this booster system set up and running. So far my idea is to take the home/office booster and get a pair of yagi antennas to help with reception.

Plan to mount one of the antennas outside on a pole so I can break the twenty feet rule when it comes to the installation. Regardless, going to be expensive and my video game fund is going to take a bit of a hit.

Arcade Stick: Layout Chosen

Finally decided on what layout to pick for the arcade stick. Going to go with one of my original ideas and include pretty much everything that I need on it to play 90% of all arcade games released on the market.

Sure, it jumps the cost up a bit but it will give me the practice I need for when I put pretty much the same pieces on my control panel for my MAME cabinet when I build it at a later date.

New Years Woes

Sat down to do my finances and realized it really isn't a good idea to go out on Saturday for a night out drinking with friends. If I want to be able to afford bills and the first pieces to my arcade stick for my computer that is.

I can always plan a night out later on, bills and my project come first.

Unity Is In Another Castle

I wrote awhile back why I was finished with Unity, and I even gave it another shot with the release of Ubuntu 11.10. I ended up going back to KDE very quickly.

Now, I have jumped to another desktop manager and like how lightweight it is. I now run XFCE on my old laptop simply due to the performance I managed to squeeze out of this old thing with it. I think Xubuntu is going to be my flavor of choice for some time.

Well, at least until they pull something stupid like Unity has.
