Grammy Award-winner and entrepreneur Pitbull (Armando Christian Pérez) is the latest artist to join the world of sports business. He joins the World Jai-Alai League (WJAL) as an equity owner. In his new ownership role, Pitbull will be involved in all aspects of the League.

San Francisco authorities claim they are unable to inspect a large and potentially unsafe sign atop the roof Twitter’s Market Street headquarters.

Twitter, recently rebranded as “X”, allegedly denied a representative of the San Francisco Department of Building Inspection from accessing the roof to inspect the new symbol. The light up X has neighbors complaining about the severity of the lights, one even claiming she thought it was lightening.

Twitter user @itsmefrench123, expressed how livid they would be to have this sign outside their home. “Imagine this f***ing X sign right across from your bedroom." KQED journalist Christopher Beale responded with a video of the obnoxiously bright sign as it strobed into his home.

Last night was one for the books as the Brandy vs Monica Verzus battle went down.

The much awaited Verzuz was less of a battle and more of a healing for fans of both artists who have longed to see these ladies match up musically since the 90s. Hit after iconic hit was laid down in Atlanta at the Tyler Perry Studios.

I have to give up to Brandy and her sultry vocals as she played hits from the vault such as "Sitting Up In My Room," "Full Moon," "Brokenhearted," and "Have You Ever," to some of her more recent tunes including "Wildest Dreams," "Put It Down," and "Do You Know What You Have?" Brandy also played a song from her new album b7 titled "Borderline" which was a banger.

However, I have to give it up to the A-Town favorite, Monica. I have always enjoyed Monica's soulful voice and her "bout it" attitude. Monica hit us with "Everything to Me," "So Gone," "Just One Of Those Days," "Sideline Ho," and "Angel of Mine," to "Knock Knock," "Everytime Tha Beat Drop," "Trust," "Just Right for Me," and her new single "Trenches." As soon as I heard "Trenches," I had to go cop the entire album.

I don't know what the final count was, but I saw several people giving Monica extra points for her dope ass Fendi ensemble.

All it all, the fans are the ones who won because both ladies have a plethora of feel good music from back in the day as well as new hits for us to move to.

Black Panther Director, Ryan Coogler, explains how in some African cultures, those who pass on are referred to as ancestors.

"Sometimes you are genetically related. Sometimes you are not. I had the privilege of directing scenes of Chad’s character, T’Challa, communicating with the ancestors of Wakanda.

We were in Atlanta, in an abandoned warehouse, with bluescreens, and massive movie lights, but Chad’s performance made it feel real. I think it was because from the time that I met him, the ancestors spoke through him.

It’s no secret to me now how he was able to skillfully portray some of our most notable ones. I had no doubt that he would live on and continue to bless us with more.

But it is with a heavy heart and a sense of deep gratitude to have ever been in his presence, that I have to reckon with the fact that Chad is an ancestor now. And I know that he will watch over us, until we meet again."

As Boseman's friends and family mourn him, children around the world cope with the death of the Black Panther.

Chadwick Boseman, star of Black Panther, has passed away at 43.

According to an official announcement on his Twitter page, Boseman died from stage 3 colon cancer in his home surrounded by his wife and family.

The actor was diagnosed in 2016 and battled the disease for the past four years while leaving behind a stellar body of work from Da 5 Bloods, Avengers: Endgame, and Black Panther, to 21 Bridges, Avengers: Infinity War, and Marshall.

Marvel Studios made a statement on their Twitter page website noting that Boseman's legacy will live on.

Nas Ultra Black Video | HeyShae!

The "Ultra Black" track by Nas bumps through my headphones as I sit by my window working from home. I unconsciouly bob my head and tap my foot as the beat slaps.

The song is a feel-good celebration of blackness that takes me back to a simpler time. The video is directed by Spike Jordan and features unapologetically black images of Nas rapping in his kitchen, sitting on a couch covered in plastic, and posting up in front of his luxury car. Hit-Boy (on the beat) is featured in the video holding a beautiful baby, and Dapper Dan also makes an appearance.

"Ultra Black" is the first single off the King’s Disease album. It was co-produced by Hit-Boy, Nipsey Hussle, Polo G and Corbett.

American Black Film Festival (ABFF) creators, Jeff and Nicole Friday, are launching the first Social Justice Now Film Festival through their non-profit The Film Life Foundation. During an interview, the Jeff and Nicole discussed the necessity of such a platform.

“This first-of-its-kind festival will merge art and activism to drive today’s necessary conversations forward toward lasting social and political change. On behalf of our partners, we look forward to using our collective abilities to provide a platform committed to amplifying the voices of the marginalized and educating attendees on the most pressing issues impacting these communities.”

The mission of the Social Justice Now Film Festival is to "watch, reflect, and take action." They will will feature virtual screenings, community conversations and impact events that confront issues facing disenfranchised communities.

American actor and producer Michael B. Jordan along with Nigerian-American human rights activist, writer, strategist, and community organizer Opal Tometi will serve as co-ambassadors. Sony Pictures serves as the event's founding sponsor, while the coalition partners include Endeavor Content, One Community, and Michael B. Jordan's Outlier Society.

This year, the inaugural program include virtual screenings followed by discussions on police brutality, criminal justice reform, health care reform and voter reform. The alsos introduce action items, including online petitions and educational resources, regarding the upcoming presidential election. Tometi expresses the significance of the platform and discussios points.

“As a media maker and a human rights advocate, I know that there’s no denying the importance of truth-telling and the power of film to facilitate that. Given the significance of these times I trust that the Social Justice Now Film Festival will provide the catalytic insight and creative inspiration we need.”

Her daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, appears both in the video and on the track along with the Nigerian singer WizKid and Guyanese singer Saint Jhn.

2020 has been a hell of a year thus far. By now, hopefully you have reevaluated your goals, finances, or your lifestyle in general.

This year has been a wake up call to many who realized that they could be making better choices for their future so, in the event of another national emergency, they will not get caught with their pants down... again.

So, if you have not yet realized that you need to get your proverbial sh*t together, here are a few suggestions for you to get started on before the end of year.

Set goals. Learn how to set personal and business goals for yourself. If you’re not taking the time to set goals you are already behind the pack. Make sure your goals are realistic. Your goals should be SMART goals -Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Timely.
Take care of your health. You only get one life.
Get life insurance for you and your children (whole) as soon as they are born (one thing is for sure is we will die...might as well leave your kids something extra!). The sooner you get it, the cheaper it is.
When you start your job, get an HSA account not FSA and get the high deductible health insurance. It will lower your tax bracket and the money is yours to use. You also earn 40% in most cases after 10k!!!
Never buy a car brand new! Cars depreciate as soon as you leave the lot. If you must, only get a car that you can pay off in 24 month.
Get you an LLC (incorporate your name!!) and run it as an S Corp. Remember Jay-Z quote “I’m not a Businessman I’m a Business Maaaaaaaan....” let that sink in.
Build business credit! The loans are bigger and the interest rate is lower.
Get a business bank account (in most cases this costs around $500 to start). Some people got two stimulus checks (one from Trump and one from the SBA). Also no fees.
Learn how to create a wealth portfolio and acquire hard assets like the wealthy do.
Buy a house and get a 15 year fixed mortgage rather than a 30 year mortgage. Saves a lot of money in interest over the life of the loan. If you must get the 30 year mortgage verify no prepayment penalty. This gives you the flexibility of paying off early if you are able. But also gives the option of making lower payments when times are tough.
Network with others and strategize how you can help move your communities forward (commerce, politics, education, etc...)
Get the people in your immediate family to save collectively! If 10 people save $500/month, that’s 60k every year. You could buy 3 starter homes every year and in 4 years all ten of you are home owners. Buy on the same block or neighborhood if you can...this way you control the value of the homes (remember Monopoly!).

The best investment you will ever make, is in yourself. Now let's go!

On the last season of Growing Up Hip Hop, Vanessa expressed her feelings of being unhappy with her appearance. She mentioned the need to work on getting fit. Well, it appears that she has definitely been successful in her quest for health, fitness, and her self-care during the COVID-19 quarantine.

In recent a People interview, Vanessa explains that self-care is at the top of her list.

"Baths and self-care definitely help keep me grounded, energized, and happy for my daughter, which is important. Can't [pour] from an empty glass."

Model Slick Woods Suffers Second Seizure | HeyShae!

Slick Woods is currently battling through complications related to stage 3 melanoma, a form of skin cancer. Woods revealed her cancer diagnosis late last year and after experiencing her first seizure, shared on her social media.

The model unfortunately suffered another seizure, which caused her face to swell and bruise.

Woman Puts Injured Bobcat in Car Near Toddler | HeySHae!

In a well-meaning, but clearly daft attempt to save an injured bobcat, a Colorado Springs woman put the maimed animal in the back of her SUV mere inches away from her toddler. The woman came across a wounded adult male bobcat, wrapped it in a blanker and placed it in her car not far from her 3-year-old son.

Officials from the Colorado Parks and Wildlife urged her to take her son and get out of the vehicle when she phoned to ask what she should do. When Sarah Watson, the District Wildlife Manager, responded to the call and spotted the 20-pound (9-kilogram) cat, she used a trapping device to remove the hissing animal that was struggling to resist capture despite severe internal injuries and paralyzed rear legs.

In the end, the gravely injured cat had to be euthanized.

Officials have a warning for the public: Don't pick up wildlife.

Bstroy Bullet-Riddled Hoodies Spark Controversy | HeyShae!

Bstroy, a New York-based fashion brand, recently released a back-to-school video that shocked viewers with disturbing images of models wearing hoodies that appear to be riddled with bullet holes.

To make matters worse, the hoodies depict the names of schools that were involved in horrific mass shootings including Virginia Tech, Stoneman Douglas, Sandy Hook, and Columbine. Not surprisingly, critics immediately descended on Bstroy for glamorizing violence for prifit.

Several survivors from the various schools expressed their disgust in the designs. Parents of some of the students lost were understandably livid. The Instagram account dedicated to Vicki Soto, a teacher killed at Sandy Hook, commented:

As a Sandy Hook family, what you are doing here is absolutely disgusting, hurtful, wrong and disrespectful. You’ll never know what our family went through after Vicki died protecting her students. Our pain is not to be used for your fashion.

According to Bstroy’s co-founder, Dieter Grams, the hoodies were meant to bring attention to gun violence and are not for retail sale. Even still, the hoodies are clearly in bad taste.

Penn State Professor Arrested on Kidnapping Charges | HeyShae!

Police have arrested an Assistant Penn State professor on charges of kidnapping, assault, unlawful restraint and reckless endangerment. Richard Lomotey moonlighted as an Uber driver and allegedly used his second job to kidnap and falsely imprison several women.

Penn State has put Lomotey, 36, on leave pending additional information in the criminal case. Meanwhile, Lomotely has posted bail must appear in court for a preliminary hearing on Thursday the 23rd.

Although Uber is cooperating with police, with the rise in reports of rapes, physical assaults, and other complaints against their drivers, the company needs to do a better job at keeping their passengers safe.
