1. Kanye West

Kanye West had a busy year: he wrapped up his Watch the Throne tour with Jay-Z, he released his most sought after Air Yeezy 2 sneakers, dropped his GOOD Music Cruel Summer album, and he started dating Kim Kardashian, who is now pregnant with first child. His signature look this year consisted of a Balmain hoodie layered over an oversized tee, black leather pants with Air Yeezy 2 or Balenciaga sneakers. However, Kanye did have some memorable moments such as the Maison Martin Margiela mask and Givenchy kilt.

2. Chris Brown

Chris Brown had another roller coaster year as he steered away from his natural black hair color for a more experimental blond hairdo. The talented singer added more tattoos to his already extensive collection completely erasing his young pretty boy image for a more edgy bad boy look. His style choices for most of the year channeled the current LA street wear scene as he often dressed in casual and more comfortable outerwear pieces with a variety of athletic sneakers.

3. Rihanna

Rihanna had another massive year, and it seemed as though no one could get enough of her music, rekindled relationship with Chris Brown, and most of all her naughty girl style. Whether Rihanna was touring, shopping, vacationing, or just hanging out, every outfit she threw on was a jaw-dropper. The Diamonds singer rocked every style under the sun, such as: leather pieces, printed tees, army print, short shorts, mini dresses, gowns, bedazzled shoes, fitted caps, sexy bikinis, sneakers, heels, and fitted jeans. Whatever year 2013 has to bring to Ms. Rihanna, we can be sure she’ll embrace it by remaining one of the best celebrity dressers.

4. Usher

Although Usher was in court a lot this year fighting for the custody of his two children, he still managed to drop his album Looking 4 Myself and make his Euphoria tour dates. He continued from last year with the fro-hawk while giving us a variety of different looks in his performances and day to day outings.

5. Sean "Diddy" Combs

For over two decades Sean “Diddy” Combs has been a relevant figure in the entertainment industry. This year his net worth reportedly reached 500 million dollars making him the wealthiest person in Hip-Hop. With the success of his Ciroc partnership and his much talked about Hollywood parties, Diddy has done a great job branding his high maintenance playboy lifestyle by staying clean-cut and always dressed to impress.

6. Alicia Keys

Singer Alicia Keys spent the year releasing singles and promoting her fifth studio album Girl On Fire before finally dropping it on November 22nd. When she was on the red carpet, she dressed the part with the sophisticated dress, the well done hair, and the right pose. Yet when seen out chillin’, Alicia was able to remain that cool, sexy chick you want to hang out with by wearing designer high-top sneakers and a sexy tank. Her and hubby Swizz Beatz complemented each other’s style well from the red carpet to the street.

7. Jennifer Lopez

Latin diva Jennifer Lopez had a full schedule this year, but at every event she was dressed to impress. Lopez strutted around in tight mini dresses to show off her great figure; and hit the red carpet in long classic gowns to express everything grown and sexy. When it was time to travel Jennifer wore loose flowing maxi dresses, which were still chic yet super comfortable. It’s safe to say the year 2012 was definitely for the dress lovers, and Jlo helped to keep us in style.

8. Tyga

Tyga dropped his first album, Careless World: Rise of the Last King, under his Young Money label with a great reception from fans led by hits like Rack City. His style was more of a throw back from rappers in the 90′s with gold chains, snapbacks, sunglasses and mix of high-end designer pieces.

9. Pusha T

Pusha T made lots of noise this year with many singles as well as memorable features on the compilation GOOD Music album Cruel Summer. If you followed him on Instagram, you’d notice that Pusha takes fashion seriously, as he’s often one of the first to have the latest designer pieces from Balenciaga, to Balmain, to Givenchy.

10. Ciara

R&B Princess Ciara seemed to rock every ensemble to show us just how killer her body is! When summer hit, the sexy singer rocked daisy dukes, tanks tops, bright colored mini dresses, and hot colored pants. Toward the end of the year Ciara went back to black as the cold weather set in, channeling her inner gangster with cut up jeans, beanies, buttons down shirts, and leather jackets.

11. Amber Rose

This year Amber Rose revealed at the MTV VMA’s that she was pregnant with her boyfriend rapper Wiz Khalifa’s baby. Before her pregnancy announcement, Amber’s style was about bold and sexy statements, afterwards her looks were more maternal.

12. A$AP Rocky

A$AP Rocky, the newcomer on the rap scene, has garnered a lot of attention and respect from the media and his peers alike. With his high profile relationships with designers Jeremy Scott and newly appointed Balenciaga creative director Alexander Wang, Rocky has definitely let his fashion ties be known. His A$AP movement goes to prove that the urban youth demographic should not be overlooked when it comes to re-shaping the fashion landscape in hip hop.

13. Big Sean

Coming off his 1st album release with several chart topping singles the year before, Big Sean’s popularity reached an all-time high in 2012, as he followed up with a Cruel Summer GOOD Music album and a Detroit mixtape. In terms of his style, he stepped out from the Kanye West umbrella and carved his own signature look that consisted of a snapback, sleeveless hoodie, and his signature Adidas Pro Model sneakers.

14. Kim Kardashian

In 2012, Kim Kardashian was once again at the center of attention. Amidst continued success with her reality shows and other endeavors, her divorce proceedings with Kris Humphries went unresolved, she started dating rapper Kanye west, and is now pregnant with his child. In regards to style, Kim was extremely consistent with her fashion choices, gravitating towards leather skirts, dark colors, plunging necklines and peplum dresses. Her shoe collection ranged from thigh-high boots to sandals, pumps, unique booties and sneakers always adding interest to her outfits.

15. Jay Z

Jay-Z became a father for the first time in 2012, and if you expected his style to switch up a bit, you were sadly mistaken. The rap mogul kept things pretty consistent compared to previous years as his style adjusted smoothly to whatever the occasion called for. When it was time for a suit, he dressed to kill. For his performances he wore exclusives from Givenchy, and courtside at Brooklyn Nets games, he showed off his love for dope footwear.

16. Beyonce

For Beyonce, the first part of 2012 was all about her new born daughter Blue Ivy. When she made public appearances with the baby, she was often comfortable and casual putting up her heels for a pair of Isabel Marant sneakers or a pair of slippers. As the year waned on she began to get back into form and ready to reclaim her position at the top of womens’s music industry.
