You have no idea how frustrating it is to come into work in the morning and see a bright blue login screen from a recent restart from updating Windows that I didn’t initiate. I’ve put off running Windows Updates because it is so frequent that you want me to do it, that it’s absolutely annoying. If I had wanted to install the updates that you decided that I absolutely needed, I would have done so myself. I don’t appreciate one bit you trying to keep my computer up-to-date and secure. You remind me alot of Washington, passing laws to help keep me safe when I’m not even afraid at all of terrorists, etc.

The reason for my aggravation? I leave items up in Adobe Photoshop as I’m working, notepads, wordpads, etc. of things that I’ve scratched down, either ideas or just temporary notes, that I now no longer have.

This is Windows, and that was not my idea!

Mom Started Treatment Today

Today was Mom’s first day of treatment for colon cancer. She was scheduled to begin both chemotherapy, the pill form for now, as well as radiation, but wasn’t able to start the pills because they failed to arrive on time. If I understand everything correctly, and given nothing changes, she is scheduled to have a total of 33 treatments beginning today before being given a break. At the end of the break, which will last for a few weeks, assuming the chemo and radiation have done their job of shrinking the tumor, she will then have surgery. Following surgery she will then begin intravenous chemotherapy for some time.

I really appreciate all of the support, thoughts, and prayers. It means more to me than you all will ever know.

Just Saw You

This very brief encounter with an elderly man at Texas Roadhouse was just what was needed at the time. The funny part is when Chase got back to the table, I was like the funniest thing just happened, and he was like no way, I’ve got something too.

The elderly man’s brief conversation with Chase:

Elderly man: You know, you and they guy sitting next to you look an awful lot alike.
Chase: Oh yeah, sure do.
Elderly man: Must be identical?
Chase: Yep, we sure are.
Elderly man: Praise the Lord!

The elderly man as he was walking by our table, told his wife he needed to stop for just a second, to tell me:

Elderly Man: You know, I thought I just saw you heading towards the bathroom.

Summer Crickets

Undoubtedly one of my favorite parts about summer is the evening tunes of the crickets. This little guy made it into our house for a few nights before he disappeared. He either died from starvation or thirst, made it out somehow, or most likely became a victim to one of the dogs. Needless to say, when the lights went out, he went to singing his tune each night.

Credit goes to the guy that played one of my favorite LOST characters, Jorge Garcia. You simply tear the bottom half off of the cupcake and press it into the icing on top. And voilà!, a cream filled cake!
