Sooo....it's been quite some time since I've posted on here. Things have been pretty crazy around here the past couple of months. Between holiday orders, Christmas, and oh yea... MORNING SICKNESS (or more like all-day-never-ending sickness)! Yes that's right, we are expecting baby #3. Now that I'm starting to feel a little better, I'm hoping to catch up on everything in my life, including blogging. I have kept my facebook fanpage up-to-date with recent sessions, so add yourself as a fan to view my latest work (you can do so in the right-hand column on this page).

Custom Designed Album {Central PA Professional Photographer}

I just received another client order in this week for my custom designed albums. I always get soooo excited when the fed ex guy drops my order off- everything else is immediately put on hold while I tear open the box and admire the amazing craftmanship that goes into each album. I love knowing that the portraits I've taken are being put to good use. This album is something the family will cherish for many years and generations to come, and it's so fulfilling to know that I played a role in that.

You can see the keepsake proof box and the detail of one of the page borders here. I like to keep my designs clean and simple with a splash of color for the right album.

Trish is a lovely senior from Jersey Shore Area High School in PA. We met at Ravensburg State Park for her senior portraits. I had never shot there before, but it was perfect! There's a beautiful creek with a waterfall, bridge, and wooded background as well as open grass. I'll definitely be going back there sometime.

She has killer eyes!

I totally feel like I just had a mini reunion! I also know Amber from middle school, and she contacted me to take portraits of her and her family. I love working with people I knew from school! She has a beautiful baby girl as well.

We were at Brandon Park in Williamsport, PA for most of the session. It's one of my favorite spots to shoot in.

Annie and I knew each other in high school, and recently reconnected on facebook (love it!). I've also known her husband since middle school. I was so excited for her shoot because I didn't have a chance to meet her daughter yet. It was actually kind of weird, because I feel like we could still be in high school, but yet we have children and families now. She wanted to have a fall theme for her portraits, which I loved. I usually don't use props, but fall is one time I do enjoy getting out some hay bales and pumpkins. Her daughter is just as beautiful as she is!

I've known Nate for many years. Heck, I was his Sunday School teacher a few years ago (the cool one...haha). I was very excited and honored when his mother asked me to take his senior portraits. After the session, when I uploaded his images I was shocked to realize how grown up he looked! Here are a few teasers from the session:

I love this one- The sun was in the perfect spot for a tiny bit of sun flair and dramatic lighting.

I wanted to try something a little different here- I was going for a bit of harsh lighting so I could convert it to black and white and add a texture when I was processing it. I was really lovin' the back lighting there!

I love the "Bokeh" in this picture. Your fun fact for the day- Bokeh is a photographic term that describes an out of focus background. It is achieved by using a large aperture.

I was amazed at how he could do that!

I will be taking Nate out again in the winter for some shots with his snowboard- I can't wait!

After months of being deprived, I couldn't take it another day. And of course, what made it more difficult is the fact that when you can't have something, you want it all the more. On so many occasion, I could almost taste the crust of perfection, the sumptuous blend of cheese and sauce, and of course the spicy pepperoni's to top it off. Most of you from Williamsport should know by now what I am referring to- none other than Park Pizza. This weekend I ordered 2 pizzas- one with pepperoni and one with green peppers, onion, and half bacon/half pepperoni. They were amazing- to put it in the words of my 7 year old son "Mommy, Park Pizza makes the best pizza!"
And we're not alone in our opinion- there's a reason people are willing to wait hours for a pizza; it's just that good.
(For those of you not from the area, Park Pizza is a local pizza restaurant that burned down months ago and recently re-opened)

Little Mason was just 8 weeks old for this session. He was such a sweetie pie!! He only fussed a few times throughout the session, and then he fell asleep and was a perfect angel! These are four of my favorites from the session.

It started a week ago- I felt tired, run down, just looking at the computer gave me a headache....yep- I got the flu (or something very similar). The past several days have been spent on the couch. Then my poor little B spent the last 2 days with a high fever (102-105). It finally seems to be subsiding, so my life can hopefully get back on track. My point in telling you this?? I have several blog posts and sessions to catch up on, so I do apologize to those of you patiently waiting to see your images. I will be catching up asap, and praying that the little one won't get sick! In the meantime I'm looking forward to the upcoming sessions this week!

Meet Isaac and his family. His mommy was my son's kindergarten teacher at Williamsport Christian School (Got bless her soul!!) Isaac just turned 1 so his mom wanted some family portraits. We met at Indian Park in Montoursville, PA for a great photo session.

He absolutely would not keep his hands out of his mouth, but I liked the shot anyways.

Jessica + Jay: I Do {Central PA Wedding Photographer}

It all began at a funeral home....not exactly your typical love story! Jessica and Jay met while they were funeral directors and embalmers living in North Carolina and the rest is history. According to Jessica, she and Jay are:
"Seriously cut from the same cloth. I don't know how two people could be so much alike and we are each other's best friend! We spend a ton of time together and love every minute of it. We enjoy playing tennis and riding bikes together, watching college football, traveling and we LOVE our TV time at night!"
The connection and love these two share was quite evident on their wedding day. It was truly one of the most heartfelt ceremonies I'd ever witnessed. Here are a few images from the day, with a second blog post to follow this week.

I LOVED how Jessica wiped away the tear from Jay's face. What a beautiful moment for them to look back on.

Another lovely family to work with. Curt grows giant pumpkins, and they are HUGE! If you're interested, he is selling them. He had 4 when I was there. Just let me know and I can put you in touch with him. Here are the adorable kiddos: a 5 year old and 2 year old twins.....

He's all boy- and the poor kid got stung 2 times by yellow jackets when I was there.

He wanted NOTHING to do with me-lol. I'll have to post some of the pictures where he was running away from me.

So cuuuuuute!

Miss Myleigh! Her mom won the package I donated to the Autism Community Day held in Indian Park, Montoursville. She was such a delightful little girl to work with. I've found yet another favorite age to photograph- she was 8 months old so she could sit up, but she wasn't real mobile yet. Perfect!

See her little tooth poking up on the bottom? This is one of my favorite shots from the day.

In case you can't tell, I'm OBSESSED with baby feet. Makes me wanna kiss her little toes they're so cute!

Friends. Soccer. Fun. Love. Four words I think of when I look at the pics from Gina's senior session. All of my seniors can bring along a few friends for their shoot, and Gina brought 2 of hers plus "the boy toy" (as her mom calls him...lol). Meredith also had me shoot her senior portraits as well. I love shooting seniors- I always reminisce about my high school days. NOT the school part, but the friends, and the carefree outlook on life. However, you could not pay me enough to go back! Ok, enough from me. Here are the goods:

Last week I had the privilege of working with Megan, Scott, and little Isaiah for his 3 month pictures. Another beautiful family- both inside and out! Megan signed up for the baby plan so I'm looking forward to watching this little guy grow up.

I had the pleasure of working with Brandon and his wonderful mom and dad today! We met at Brandon Park in Williamsport, PA to have a relaxed family session. This little guy did not want to have his picture taken today. But two year olds are so unpredictable, (believe me I know, I have one at home) so we took our time and I was able to get some great shots of Brandon and his family. Brandon's mom, Kat, is an amazing stylist at Elite Design Studio on Four Mile Drive. His father Eric is a Professional Videographer- check out his website- Digital Witness. I can't wait to get through the rest of his pictures and post some more!

THE BEST Chocolate Chip Cookies- EVER

I love chocolate. I love cookies. So of course, I looooove chocolate chip cookies. I've always enjoyed the good ol' Nestle Tolle House Cookies from the chocolate chip package, but the following recipe changed my life! Ok, so maybe a slight exaggeration, but let me tell you these cookies are simply a-m-a-z-i-n-g. In fact, if I had any desire to open a bakery I do believe these would make me rich. But instead, I'm going to share the recipe with you :o)

2 1/4 C. bread flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
2 sticks of butter, melted
1/4 C. white sugar
1 1/4 C. packed dark brown sugar (light brown is ok too)
1 1/4 tsp. vanilla extract (use the good stuff)
1 whole egg. 1 egg yolk, 2 Tbs. whole milk
2 C. (1 pkg) chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 375 F

Combine flour, baking soda, and salt in a bowl. Beat melted butter, white sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract in a separate bowl until creamy. Add whole egg, egg yolk, and milk into mix, one at a time beating well after each addition. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in chocolate chips. Chill (very important!). Drop by rounded teaspoon (or use an icecream scoop like I do) onto ungreased baking sheets.

Bake for 9-11 minutes or until golden brown- usually closer to 9 minutes. They will look slightly undercooked in the middle, but this is when they're just perfect. Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes, then remove to wire racks to cool completely. Always start your cookies on a cool pan.

It's impossible to keep little hands away from cookies!

So you know all of those notes that go around facebook? Well I never bother to fill them out, but I thought it would be fun to post one here so you can get to know me a little better. So here it goes.....

1. My name is Shannon

2. I have two sons ages 2 and 7

3. I love latte's from Julie's Coffee (super sweet, of course)

4. Piano is my "other" love, besides photography. My camera does sometime get jealous....

5. I taught High School Sunday School for 2 years (those who knew me in hs never saw that coming....lol)

6. Being a photographer is a dream come true.... It's what I always wanted to do.

7. I love country music- yee haw!

8. Steve Carell is my favorite actor

9. I love quiet afternoons with a book and coffee (oh yea- that's only in my dreams)

10. I love hiking

11. If I had to choose another career, it would probably be graphic design

12. Express is my favorite place to shop

13. I've always wanted to learn how to play tennis

14. I have 2 younger sisters

15. I've been married for 6.5 years (wow- time flies!)

16. The last concert I went to was Barlow Girl- I never heard them before the concert but they were amazing! And their opening act rocked as well- Joey Monteleone

17. I love chocolate!! Specifically Godiva and Patchi

18. The last book I read was "My sister's Keeper"- I finished it in less than 2 days.(It was just that good)

19. I can not wash dishes without gloves

20. The two chores I despise the most- laundry and dishes! They're never-ending.

23. I loved reading the Chronicles of Narnia with my son recently- well really any book by CS Lewis is a great read

24. I'm organizationally challenged-whew that one's hard to admit. I think my problem is that if I'm not super organized, like a place for everything and everything in it's place, then everything falls apart!

25. I'm a perfectionist, not alway a good thing, but can be a great thing.

Well there you have it. When I started this post I had no idea what I was going to write. I thought "25 things? That's easy!" - wrong! I had a hard time coming up with 25 things about myself, Weird huh? Did I miss anything? Feel free to ask in the comments. It's kind of fun to have something other than a 1 way conversation on here...lol

On Motherhood

Warning: The following post is sappy and completely off topic. Please forgive, I'm having a mommy moment :o)

Motherhood- is there any greater gift in the world, than being a mother? I sit here tonight slightly depressed because my baby is starting 2nd grade tomorrow- 2ND GRADE! I think the hardest part of being a parent is learning to let go. He informed me a few months ago that he can't call me "mommy" anymore, I am now referred to simply as "mom". (And heaven forbid I slip and refer to myself as mommy). The day will come when he no longer wants to cuddle in bed at night, or kiss me in front of his friends. But those special times will be replaced with new traditions, new meangful moments that we will share. As I reminisce about the past 7 years, I find myself trying to recount his "lasts". When was the last time he said "chicken" for "kitchen", when was the last time he was small enough to fit on my hip, when was the last time I felt his tiny body kick inside my belly? My little guy is also growing up- he's 2 years old now and potty training. I swear he was just a tiny infant laying in my arms! Mothers- remember to take time to enjoy each moment, each stage of your child's life. I know I can get so caught up in the day to day events of life, that I completely forget to just sit back and enjoy what God has blessed me with. Being a mother.

I came across this quote today and wanted to share it with my loyal readers (if I have any...lol). I liked it not only because of it's reference to photography, but because it served as a great reminder. My family has yet again hit a hard time in our lives, and it would be sooo easy to be down about it...BUT I realize that everything truly does happen for a reason- we are so not in control. Looking back, I've had many rough times in my life (as most people have), but I'm able to be thankful for those times now because they've allowed me to become the woman I am today, (hopefully that's a good thing). I know our most recent setback is a blessing in disguise, and coming across this quote today was a perfect reminder. I hope it can brighten your day as well!
