A Truly Great Story: Opposing player gives disabled high schooler a shot at glory

2013-02-27T02:07:00.000-05:00

This video is a must watch, whether you love the game of basketball like I do or not. I literally almost cried. For a quick summary, Mitchell, the team manager, has a developmental disability. He loves the game as much as anyone else. Coach Peter Morales had a plan in mind to let Mitchell play the last game of the season. He was prepared to lose the game for Mitchell's moment. His teammates did everything they could to get Mitchell a shot, but the truly touching part of the story came during the last play of the game when a player on the opposing team purposely inbounded the ball to Mitchell to give him one last chance to score. Just watch the video.

I know this post is a lot different than my usual posts, but I'm never usually touched by videos. Maybe it's just me that is really affected by this video. It is honestly so relieving to see that there are good people still out there. Stuff like this isn't funny. People with disabilities aren't funny. Using the word "retarded" in a derogatory manner isn't funny. I'm just rambling right now, sorry.

Throwback Thursday is coming a little early this week. Let's just call it #TBT #ThrowbackTuesday. I was looking at Complex and found these photos of rappers as children. It's easy to tell who some of them are, but you'd be surprised by others.

I thought Beyonce was beautiful at the Super Bowl until...

2013-02-10T03:04:00.000-05:00

It takes some stupendous timing (or luck) to catch the beautiful Beyonce looking like this. These pictures, however, don't take anything away from her amazing performance that sucked all the energy out of the arena... literally hahaha (there was a blackout for those who didn't watch the Super Bowl). I was praying that Destiny's Child would perform and I was truly blessed to have seen them perform. But back to the point of this post. A few people took some time out to create funny memes with a crop of one of Beyonce's rather ugly pictures. Check them out!

Everyone remembers this commercial, which apparently took 65 takes to get right! HE KISSED HER SIXTY FIVE TIMES.

Ummm yeah

NEW ARTIST: Asante- Let Me In

2012-06-08T15:43:00.001-04:00

Here's a debut single from a new artist and good friend, Asante, whose upcoming mixtape, Rough Draft, is scheduled to release this fall. I remember freestyling and making up songs in Spanish class with him. Who would have thought he'd leave me to make his own songs?! Jokes, jokes. Asante is working together with Peter Zimmerman (P3T3R-Z). They call themselves "The Overachievers," and by the quality of their work and the rate of success of both of them, especially Peter, they sure are overachieving. Check the song out!

Nike WMNS Air Max 1 "Leopard Pack" and Liberty x Nike Air Max 1

2012-05-22T15:39:00.001-04:00

Who doesn't love Air Max's? And what woman doesn't like leopard print? Some guys even like it, maybe just on shoes. I definitely like these. The "Leopard Pack" combines suede, leopard print, and nylon to create a very aesthetic colorway of an already popular Air Max 1. I'm gonna have to keep an eye out for the big sizes since these are in women's sizes.

Also Nike collaborated with Liberty of London again, but this time with the WMNS Air Max 1. Check it.

Jordan Super Fly

2012-05-22T15:24:00.000-04:00

I think Jordan Brand has finally come out with a new basketball shoe that people will like... the Jordan Super Fly. It's a comfortable, lightweight shoe that looks good. It kinda takes on some attributes from the Jordan 2012, but it looks a lot better. Expect this to hit stores around late June for $140. Check it out.

Nike Lebron 9 Low "Bringing Sand to the Beach"

2012-05-18T15:28:00.003-04:00

People are starting to get sick of the "South Beach" colorway. For those of you who don't know, it is the Aqua/Pink combination. Mache Customs, however, managed to put together a sweet custom. He used the Lebron 9 Low "Floridians" as the base and used a combination of the Lebron 8 "South Beach/Pre Heat" and Lebron 8 Low "Miami Nights". The name of the custom is rather self explanatory. Let me know what you think!

JaVale McGee's 10 Biggest Fails

2012-03-29T02:59:00.001-04:00

JaVale McGee isn't the brightest player in the NBA. However, since his trade from the Wizards to the Nuggets, he's made quite an impact. He hasn't had any fails that I can recall since the trade, which is good. Today, at the gym, someone on my team pulled one of the fails he did, which was the inspiration for this post. So thanks, teammate, you're a champ. Here's JaVale McGee's 10 Biggest Fails from Complex.

Lebron South Beach 8 or 9?

2012-03-27T17:15:00.000-04:00

Lebron's "South Beach" colorway sneakers are one of the more sought after shoes in the industry. The Lebron 8 South Beach are TOO nice. Nike just revealed the Lebron 9 South Beach colorway. Had the 8s not been made, I would really like these, but the 8s are too hot. Nike also revealed the release date and price. The South Beach 9s are the "Elite" edition of the 9s, so they're more expensive. If Nike throws Elite after any shoe, it becomes about $50 more expensive haha. On a side note, Nike revealed the Elite editions of the Hyperdunk, Lebron, and Kobe.

So which South Beach do you like better?

New Pick Up

2012-03-23T01:22:00.001-04:00

Last night, I picked up a fairly dirty pair of Cherry Xs, and now... they're not so dirty! I scrubbed and rubbed. I cleaned them the old school way with a towel, water and a little soap. It got the job done to say the least. They're not 10/10 now... nor are they 9/10 or 8/10 haha but they're much better than when I first got them.

Drake Talks Personal Style and Importance of a Great Suit

2012-03-18T14:27:00.002-04:00

Drake's fashion style doesn't usually appeal to me, but at times it sure can. Some don't usually see Drake as a fashion icon; his style flies under the radar. Drake covered April's "Style Bible" issue of GQ magazine. It's kind of a big deal. Listen to him talk about his personal style and importance of a great suit.
