How it works:
Becoming a member is easy. All you need is an e-mail id to register. No personal information, including your name or address, is required, which means that your identity is secure. To link your accounts, you will need to input the Net banking/broking user ID and password.

An additional layer of security is that all such information will be encrypted so no one will be able to access the data. Also, information such as transaction passwords or the CVV of your cards is not asked for, so no one can misuse these.

You will only need to do this once. When it's done any financial transaction you conduct will be automatically updated on the Website, whether you withdraw money from an ATM or receive dividends and bonus shares.

In case of Intuit, you can also manually update expenses you have paid through cash. However, you cannot use these sites to make any payments.

Most people are wary of using these sites because of security issues but all the site owners assure that they have security certificates from VeriSign and TrustGuard.

To assure customers banks too have begun providing this service, though at a smaller scale, such as ICICI Bank's Money Manager and HDFC Bank's One View.

Some of the sites now also help you compute your tax liability. "On the basis of your transactions and investments , the tax wizard calculates your income, deductions and capital gains, and how much tax you need to pay.
