I haven't really blogged for my creative side lately. I've been busy digging and clawing in politics, lol. I just made this card for a good friend and decided it was time to get back to blogging for fun. I hope you like the card!

Scared Monkeys Thought Police

It's a shame, but they are apparently afraid to let grown people settle their differences privately over there. Some months ago, people either left or were banned in droves from another forum called Websleuths. The owner over there takes it upon herself to follow her members around the internet and anyone who disagrees with her is banned. You can't mention certain other websites over there, or you'll be banned. You can't question the mods or you'll be banned.

Scared Monkeys was soooo much better I was told. Well, apparently not. I signed up months ago and got the cheerful little message that I had to wait for an admin to approve me. I would get an email when that happened. I waited patiently - for weeks - but no email ever came. I couldn't find a link for contacting an admin and didn't have the time to just search through their forums hoping to find a post from a mod.

Every week or so I tried to sign in and was told I was still awaiting admin approval. Eventually, a friend put me in touch with the owner, but I still couldn't sign up under that original user id, so I chose another one. The owner knew that and approved me under the second one. I have the email to prove it.

And, of course, real life immediately intervened. My grandfather died and I had to get my daughter ready to go off to culinary school. I finally signed on the other day. And ran across someone from another board called Topix who was saying untrue things about other people. So I contacted this person offline and told her it was a shame she didn't remember what happened the same way others had. Next thing you know -- poof -- I was banned from Scared Monkeys. And accused of joining for the sole purpose of "following" the other person, signing up under two names (not exactly my fault), etc.

Certain there must have been some misunderstanding, I contacted the owner and was told she stood by her right to "stop a problem before it started". I have always found that attitude puzzling. How do you "stop" a problem that doesn't yet exist? But okay, I won't argue semantics. Nowhere in their terms of usage does it say you cannot have offline contact with another member. But, apparently, you cannot. Don't get me wrong. It's Klaas' forum and she can do with it as she pleases. Am I annoyed? Sure - who wouldn't be? But, I feel I was not treated honestly or fairly, and I just can't take that laying down. So, don't sign up at Scared Monkeys thinking you have free speech - on the boards or off. Cause it just ain't true. I'm living proof.

Altered Frame

The property next to us is owned by a lovely lady. She and her husband were going to build a house but he died suddenly while they were wrapping up their business in Miami. We are very fond of her and were really looking forward to having them as neighbors.

Anyway, during the last official week of winter, we had a really big snow for Tennessee and we took some very good pictures. So I altered a frame for her and sent her a picture of her property covered with snow.

I need to learn how to take better pictures . This one is all crooked but it will have to do. :)

Well, my latest project for the house was making a message board for my daughter's room. We're redoing her room in new colors for her birthday, and giving her more grown up accessories. This is what the message board looks like:

New Mini Album

I've been working on a mini-album to honor my grandfather's cat. We took her in last winter and last summer she got sick. Unfortunately, they couldn't do much for her and we had to put her down. It was really heartbreaking. She was such a special kitty that I felt she needed her own album. Here are the first few pages:

Hungry Turkeys

I said the other day I would post some pictures of turkeys eating in the back yard, but forgot to do it. So, here they are:

Keep in mind, this was just off our deck, about 20 feet from the back door. Is that cool or what? I'll bet at least a few of your husbands would just LOVE to have turkeys grazing in the back yard, haha.

I'm A Grandma!!!

A horsie grandma, that is. We knew my mare would deliver any day and, bless her heart, she did it before the storms come through tomorrow. Slogging through ankle deep mud to round up my mare and a brand new baby would not have been fun.

Anyway, DD came home this afternoon to find that Baby had arrived. Once again, the pictures are by DD. Isn't the baby a sweetie? My mare is a very good Mommy. She doesn't want the other horses too close, but she never gives us any trouble giving the shots and other, um, little doctor-stuff that needs to be done.

I swear our other mare, who is like Earth Mother, was looking at me like "Do you see what I went through while you were gone? I had to deliver this baby ALL BY MYSELF!"

I got my eyes lasered on Fiday, so I haven't blogged in a few days. My little peepers were a bit light sensitive for a few days, so I had to be a good girl and stay off the 'puter. I did get some good pics of wild turkeys eating in our back yard that I'll post tonight.

Jumping Dogs

Okay, so we're at my Mother's house, celebrating DD's birthday. My mother has a fairly small backyard that has been totally taken over by her boyfriend's beagles. They were on the deck, looking pitifully in the back door. I should have stayed inside and taken a picture of THAT, lol.

Instead, I stupidly stepped out on the deck to take their pictures and they jumped me! So, here I am jumping around, trying to dodge muddy dog feet and flashing dog claws. I never got any decent shots of the dogs. All I got was this one dog chest and a really blurry dog nose (below). Next time, I don't care how pitiful they look, I'm not goin' out there!

Hillbilly SnowBob

We got a beautiful snow last night and this morning. I had this big plan of making all these lovely pictures. Well, guess what? I go inside, have a few cups of coffee, some breakfast, and look outside. Most of the snow has melted!!!

So, instead of a bunch of gorgeous snowy landscape pictures, the best DD and I could do was build a short snowman on the deck. So - without further ado - meet Hillbilly SnowBob.

My First Post

Okay, I finally decided to join the party and start a blog. I'm not sure if I have that much entertaining to say, but I can at least share what I'm working on. I've been scrapbooking for about a year and, like most scrappers, I've amassed an appalling stash of goodies that my DH will never see all at once.

To get us started, here are some pages from a mini-book I'm making about our sweet, lovable, spoiled-rotten dogs. Here is the title page:

My daughter's dog, who is a real sport. I would swear he liked the hat.

DH's dog, who is an ice cream maniac. He always lets her lick the empty carton.

My dog Cookie. We had to put her down a few weeks ago, but she was definitely "top dog" at our house. Our German Shepherd has been known to jump over the couch to get his toy back, rather than pass her. Haahaa!!!

Ok, I guess that's it for this post. It's getting really late and I have to take DD to school in the morning.
