Should we go forward in Nuclear Technology?

2014-03-20T06:56:00.003+09:00

Is it a relevant question? Yes and in many nations and regions this is a very valid choice until other renewable technologies mature and gain economies of scale.
Thorium reactors is a key way forward. Check the short video on nuclear energy to get a quick over view.
Thorium reactors will not be devoid of radiation but will be more economical and practical for India for self sufficiency and energy security point of view. In case of uranium the reserves are minimal and mostly need to be imported and we were under embargoes in this line. We may be rich in India by reserves along the eastern and south western coastal belts making it a rich national resource. Thorium can be isolated off monazite sand as a by product in rare earth refinements process.

Additionally the ability to control chain reaction in case of thorium is high or in other words by itself the chain reaction is not sustainable. What we are developing in India and researching is better reactor technology in line with one of the best planned phased nuclear technology approach for India. Research has boosted in various nations lately for advancing thorium based reactors and technologies fundamentally due to more control, easy availability of raw materials and relatively lesser harm in case of disasters.

There is no doubt it's a fuel for the future and in a sense present. There are reactors using thorium already but as she mentioned the efficiency can be manifold. Another point to note that The technology is going to be expensive rather than the fuel in this case. Earth has enough and more of supply of retrievable thorium in various countries and regions. Even if each nation may consider it as strategic to energy security, the key point its capability to bring down energy costs for a nation. Unfortunately even if less radioactive waste is formed its still radio active until we find some way to revers the cycle. But in thermodynamic terms its unimaginable to put in back the energy released to revers cycles and avoid nuclear waste.
Irrespective of this major concern, the question she poses at the end is very valid and for countries like India where its a no brainier that energy demands are just starting to get real, Nuclear energy and forms like thorium reactors are a must and their advancements are key. India is already one of the major polluters even with the unusually low percapita energy usage. So we can imagine what we are heading into :)

Ifwe can improve technology indegenuously, there is lot of strategic, economical and humanitarian value to it . And India and Japan along side a few european nations are all working on research in this area.
Many are new entrants in this research but outpacing the oldies!

Micro level acts determine the dynamics at Macro level

2014-02-19T15:21:00.000+09:00

Reducing consumption is one of the critical needs of today. In the energy sector this in long term is to prepare and ready the consumer to be empowered to make selective choices in their consumption patterns.
As always consumer is the critical factor in the whole sustainability chain efforts.

A very critical documentary with one of the TIME's most influential person on planet Amory Bloch Lovins analyzing the energy patterns and strategy of Japan. Documentary seems to have been on the NHK broadcast and critically looks with a fresh and positive outlook on the post great Tohuku earthquake and Fukushima disaster of March 2011 which made energy a critical topic all of a sudden.

It is interesting how an always resource lacking Japan is newly viewed as a resource rich island . The efforts are all to be supported as ultimately its at the micro levels the macro level dynamics are defined! I would endorse and support to educate the need for moving from KWh usage to a society speaking and tracking negawatts instead. Watch the Documentary below to check the interesting details.

400 million - # stands for 2012 android activations?

2013-05-30T15:53:00.004+09:00

Glad to see this write up from Bill on the Changing face of India and why its special. Read it here and my views below on blog.

400 million may be number with many zeroes but that many hum
an lives means something more than just numbers. This is an interesting write up from Bill Gates and He as an intellect have always spotted, nurtured, supported, stood for the potential in and from India.

In many cases India is dubbed as an innovation possibility or already an innovation centre, sometimes I wonder how different India is from the other R&D hubs or nodes across the globe. But indeed innovations from India are in and mostly for a different class of needs low cost high volume needs. Apart from this, there are high tech and high value innovations happening indigenously and in collaboration with the world.

I have always been optimistic on the growth and development of India amidst all the chaos of the democracy and diversity. I still am and very much more strongly believe that as long s not ravaged by any major catastrophe, this nation will evolve into a one of its class as it was 300 years ago being the main hub of trade commerce, intellectual exchange and development along with an unmatched level of humanity related contributions in various forms.

Health care is supposed to be sick and impossible to achieve as one of the fundamental needs. In other words the infra and the framework does not seem to exist even. But in fact slowly its also making progress at three different levels.
1. the high end medical facilities and capacity with an offshoot of Medical tourism
2. Low cost for many in volume and then sustaining the medical efforts as in Devi Shetty's Narayana Hrudayalaya — renamed Narayana Healthcare (NH)
3. Low cost public private partnership with government support efforts such as vaccine development research and vaccination.

The most interesting things is that they have developed in the order mentioned and hope to fill in the void completely in the years to come provided a connective framework evolves which is inevitable. The best effect of such an evolution is that this will be more sustainable over the years and will be robust as well.

In parallel the educational aspects also need to improve and effort are needed much more in that area along with collaboration with media.

Revelation & healing starting from this song that night...

2013-05-06T00:27:00.002+09:00

I was much in pain that night as well... the fourth day of pain and was like the situation was in no way improving. All I could do was just close my eyes and lie in pain and prayers. The 3rd day at hospital and I had asked Ullas to get my bible to the hospital, though I was not sure how I would read it. By evening I had received the things including the Bible through Ullas. During the day with the kind support from Sato san I was able to meet the doctors in ophthalmology and E.N.T(Jibika as its called in Japan.) and we by evening made a decision to stay on in japan for the treatment [Diagnosed on probability as Left eye orbital infection on the muscles ], I was pray fully hoping its a right decision given the facts. (Later experts in India confirmed the medications and the treatment were right and the strongest as well...) [there are several who kindly & strongly supported, visited, prayed, including very encouraging messages but I am not mentioning names here for all.sorry. Thanks however deep from my heart.]

The pain was so bad that I was not feeling even to eat food except fruits. I have no clue how many antibiotic injections had gone in in the 3 days both on my right and left arms. Its like there are so many red dots all over both hands now :P

Well I wanted to write this all down since I want to pass the message on how God used this window to speak so powerfully in ways I never thought. I had my smartphone with the connection and as I lay in bed, wanted to listen to one of my favorite radio channels 88.1 The Promise and I was shocked that it was not there on my phone but had to download it... Well I did and started listening . After 1 or 2 songs, i was just calmly lying down and this song came. This one came specifically...

Link here as well to the video (in case cannot be seen)

The words were so specific.... God was speaking directly word by word right into my ears and then overflowing all over me....I just listened and took a note of the song. It was the first time I had heard this one in fact which again surprised me.
Well every sentence and word was straight sharp and so meaningfully talking to me. It was a very special time... with tears flowing off my eyes...Soon I moved on with the songs but then fell asleep thinking on the song lyrics..I had to again find that I had to down load the bible gateway and starting listening the audio bible Dramatised versions. Starting from genesis, I was getting super charged. But I slept soon handing over completely to the Lord even if nothing seems possible fact wise nor around me. Just unconditionally without fear I gave it to the Lord that time.

The next day was so very different. Suddenly out of nowhere the pain was gone when I woke up and was a but tough to believe it as true, but I felt the ache (not pain) on my muscles in the eyes..Soon after the wake up medications at tea, I was reading the Bible yet another very powerful time when God was speaking to me straight on. Soon after break fast I surprised the doctor when i said the pain was different now and was gone. Just he ache on the strain as in trauma existed.

Back in my bed I kept going on with the audio bible. With Eyes closed the dramatized version (truly reccomended.. must check it out...) was reading into my ears. Almost every 5th verse i was getting strong messages and promises including the powerful words from God in the old testament. Believe me it was amazing and changing for me reinforcing and making me understand the majesty the promises and validity of our Credible Lord. I could easily just hand over my complete situation to Him without a doubt or even thought!!...
The following days was really blessed and indeed revealing in many ways as I am still recovering from the muscles and the trauma with some steroid medications.

God used this time to reaffirm He is same and even more awesome than I ever felt . His promises that He will walk ahead and Behind of me, with me and nothing can come against me and any one who faithfully walks with him.

The more I listened more and more facts relating to how things changed for men came to be revealed from the days of Adam and Noah.. Amazing and awesome it is... and highly reccomended to spend time listening and also reading and meditating on the word. The world will mean nothing in front of His promises and majesty! Bless His name always.

I want to thank all the people who supported me in this tough times including prayers as well and praying that God will bless you all in special ways. In my prayers you were and will be too...

I also had a revealing insight into the ways in which nurses serve people. There were several observations on how they were supporting and selflessly trying to reduce pain and suffering for many in the beds even when faced with weird and tough scenarios.

Strongly pray that the ones who are serving with the heart are blessed and God keeps them abundantly blessed. The Walk with the Lord has been awesome and I sincerely hope the song and the audio dramatized versions of the Bible will help reveal great understandings and purpose God has for each of us..

Much more details are not mentioned here in this but God has been guiding since day one..and Has never left me but only got me closer deeper and firmer in Him. Amazing....
I will also add some snaps I clicked once back from hospital. Several new experiences being in the hospital and probably will blog them later. :)

After 7 days in the Toho University Medical college campus, I am out and recovering by His grace and mercy and the best being the revelations I have had through His word in this period.
Thanks again for all your prayers and continue to withhold me in your strongest prayers and bless His name ever more.

Sustaining the faith...

2013-04-22T21:34:00.000+09:00

Today when I read the bible in the morning before coming out, I stumbled upon a brilliant chapter even better a brilliant opening verse. I always have been amazed by the topic of ‘faith’ as in what it means to be a Christian with faith. God has always guided me to talk on this particular aspect of Christian life ‘FAITH’.

I was so surprised when I started reading Chapter 11 in Hebrews. I just read the first 4 verses and was definitely charged like a lightning bolt!

Later in the day I revisited the chapter and read it whole almost aloud. And I was in for more surprises faith on my understanding fundamentally related to the cases of Abraham and also Jesus describing (in Matthew 17:20 & Luke 17:6) on how faith should be. Of course there were other cases as well.

But this chapter when I revisited was a great and amazing testimony on how faith has been the cornerstone of all the biblical history its personalities and the Christian faith. The reading gives the magnitude, summary, perseverance and frugality of being in faith with the Lord. Strongly encouraged to check this chapter.

Sustainability is still alive?

2013-03-28T01:17:00.000+09:00

A yanker though presented from Peggy . Read here
Yes indeed,
its time we move out of the technical scale talks and reach into the hearts of the consumers which will drive things faster and more efficiently. A new outlook as suggested by Sheena as well is well agreeable. We the young can definitely lead the lexicons to evolve for the times.

Making the consumer aware of the positive impact of the decisions and choices the make are key in the change .
Sustainability though in my view will never be dead but thrive as a platform and fertile field of the stories of tomorrow where new elements and views are born more vibrant, robust and stylish.

A Valid thought indeed...

Precious & for His Purpose

2013-01-07T15:24:00.007+09:00

My frame was not hidden from Thee, when I was made in secret, skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth.

Thine eyes have seen my unformed substance; and in Thy book they were all written, the days that were ordained for me when as yet there was not one of them.

How precious also are Thy thoughts to me, O God! How vast is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would outnumber the sand. When I awake, I am still with Thee. Psalm 139:15-18 (NAS)

Collaboration & local engagements

2012-11-15T12:22:00.003+09:00

Ever since the famous Rio summits and the international engagement attempts to get various governments on board for a sustainable planet there has been sincere efforts from at least a few of the delegated nations and improvement at least in some policy thought processes at national levels.
Even if this was more about the sustainability efforts on the planet front, the recent economic down turn and related events in Europe and all across the global markets has revealed the need for collaboration and engagement at the political and social levels as well to have a sustainable and happy globalized trade and intertwined humanity from various socio economic and cultural back grounds.

For a sustainable future there is not doubt the key is engagement and collaboration across various systems and entities, improving the ecosystem as a whole. However collaboration at the governmental levels across borders has been a near to impossible task and will remain a top challenge ahead as well. One key reason for this geopolitical remnants from the post war eras including the cold war times. Another major reason that brings drag into this process of progressive collaboration is the protectionism and trade interests and lastly the disparity in the infrastructure available to have a uniform or close to similar approach across boundaries.

However , the multi national corporations and also entrepreneurs can do a lot to overcome these limitations.
As for multinationals to set standards as per industry lines across borders is much more feasible and that is a good way to bridge countries and cultures on board and evolve a progressive, collaborative and sustainable domain of thought and an ecosystem that will thrive and demand careful sustainable approaches.
Similarly local entrepreneurs are key in evolving collaboration with the local stake holders helping the mindset to grow from deep within the communities of a larger society.

A good take on this and the possibilities that have clearly shown up in Sweden as in the article here where green and sustainable solutions are being engaged and collaborated at micro levels and at some point evolving a national and over time and internationally, geopoliticaly accepted sustainable wants, needs adn approaches without the drags on internal democratic/ international politics and its dampeners.
