Tara Dougans is a Canadian-born, London-based art director and illustrator. Focused on the value of ‘taking one’s time’, her early illustrative work is reflective of a preoccupation with the authenticity of a hand-drawn line. Poppies and Paperbacks began because of my zest for life. I love travel, language, laughing, cuisine, music, books, film, art and design – not necessarily in that order. I also love writing. I have begun a novel and plan to create a page on the blog to share it with my readers. I also am a crafter so I have a link to my Etsy store there too. I am really focused on expanding Poppies and Paperbacks. For now, I create music mixes, post “Street Style” (I stop people dead in their tracks if I like what they’re wearing!) in homage to Bill Cunningham from the New York Times and write about recipes, interesting and useful things I find on Etsy and spill (without spoilers) about movies. I want this website to grow into something that people can use for a resource – A resource for great design, sense of humor, and a resource for art and style.

I’ve seen other barbie jewelry before, but when I saw Margaux Lange work I really liked it, and I’ve never been a barbie fan. It is very nicely done and I loved the idea of barbie body parts as wearable art.

Hey! It’s been a while I know, my poor blog has been abandoned since… I don’t know when. I moved back to Barcelona, I found a new job, I’ve changed apartment twice, so you can imagine how busy and tired I’ve been.
But I’m back with these lovely pictures from a loft near Barcelona. I’m decorating my new bedroom and I was looking for some inspiration when I found this.
