We went to Seaside to celebrate the occasion. He was in rare form. But, he normally is.

Our trip to St. Augustine was multilayered. It was a mini-vacation. It was a reunion. It was a trip down memory lane. It was fun. Most of all, it was about the boys. My Bumble's boys. If you are interested here are other pictures from the trip.

We went to Teddy's house for smoked chicken & ribs. Those were the best ribs I have EVER had! And that is quite a statement. Before dinner they played cornhole. I watched, drank wine and took pictures. And ate ribs. Oh...those ribs.

There were 3. Zack, Scott & Teddy. Plus my Bumble. Two more of the gang came the next night, but I didn't go. It was poker night.

It was action packed. And competitive.

Zach asked his girl to marry him on this trip. So very sweet. Here is the newly engaged couple.

After the game, we had dinner. You'll have to excuse the Gator sign. I'm sure it was an oversight on someone's part.

After dinner, it was another heated round of cornhole.

This one just melts my heart. Completely.

There was horseplay. And scathing looks from the other end of the court.

Meanwhile, at the other end, they were laughing it up.

And this one just says it all.

The toothpick adds that "I'm cool" factor that you just can't duplicate.

Petey. Stinky Pete. My little booboo. We had to put him out of his misery. He had a great life. Long and easy. Lots of love. Warmth & comfort.

He left us last November. I held his little head in my hands and kissed his nose as he went. He was so loved.

Was I the best dog owner? No. Did I love him? Yes.

It took a long time, and I thought I could never go through that again. Never. But there was such an empty place in my heart. I didn't realize how much he was a part of my life. And I sorely missed having a a little furry face always with me. I'm hoping to learn and evolve. I want to be a better dog owner. And I want a dog.

So, in January we adopted Chance from the Escambia County Shelter. He was estimated to be 8-9 months old. A mixed breed...American Bulldog and Lab. He is a handful. And precious.

I don't know where he came from, or what happened to him the first part of his life. But from now on I'm going to give him the same love and warmth that Petey grew accustomed to...and more. I going to be better. I'm taking him to training classes. I walk him everyday. We take him to the dog park. I pick up poop. Like a poop fanatic.

He is doing so good on his leash. Progress. He wants to get on the couch...that is a battle. He is strong willed. But, so am I. He is pretty polite. Not a constant 'jump up on' people kind of dog, but does occasionally does jump on people.

He is quite. I have only heard his little doggie voice on rare occasions, and that is usually when we are walking up to the dog park...he gets so excited that he does a little whimper. Then today, before I could open the dog park gate, there was the 'greeting party' on the other side, barking. Then he BARKED! Low and loud. I looked around wondering where that was coming from. It was my Chance.

Bumble is not thrilled with the idea. I know he loves him. And Chance adores Bumble. And Chance gives Bumble the respect of the alpha dog. I am not a good alpha. Working on it.

What do I enjoy about having this new little life in our house? There is a certain discipline in it. A routine. I get daily walks...even with a bum knee. They are slow walks, but walks, never the less. I see the sun come up over the pine trees in the park in the morning, and the sun set over them at night. I see the stars twinkle in a dark sky. I see a full golden moon. I walk in the rain! Roll up my pant legs and splash through puddles with my rubber Crocks. Some mornings it is so foggy I can barely see 10 feet in front of us. Other times it is crystal clear. I have met all the neighborhood kids....and they have met Chance. They come running to pet him, getting on their knees to give him kisses and hugs. He is ever so gentle with even the tiniest of them.

So my life has expanded. More outdoors. More involvement in the neighborhood. Meeting neighbors. Talking. Just enjoying life.

Oh my family. Oh. My. Family.

Just as I was standing outside of the voodoo shop, getting ready to take a picture of the door, look who rubbernecked on out.

This next one has a bit of a story. I took a picture of Bobert and Nikki, but had the background focused...not them. So I asked them to wait and let me take their picture here...after all, it was so pretty there.

Just as I get ready to snap the picture, Nikki spotted a rat the size of a hound dog, screamed and pointed, and Bobert apparently was taking the old saying 'Every man for himself' seriously.

We decided that Bobert is defiinitely a hat man...

At the Coffee Cup

It was POURING when we went to the Coffee Cup today. I mean pouring!!! Anywho. I was just playing around with my new camera, and my Katzeye screen that I scratched when installing. Boohoo. What a putz. I was such a hot mess putting it in. I spoke with Rachael at Katzeye so many times today that she knows me by name.

I have options:

Return the screen for cleaning
Buy a new screen at 25% off
Live with this one

I'm trying option #3 first. The scratch is off to the right side...almost out of my vision. The key there is almost. The question that begs to be answered is, can I live with that. Will my OCD kick in full gear? Or will the lax me take over and say "What the hell." I'm hoping the lax one will step up to the plate.

So. Here is a pic of Bumble at the Coffee Cup. Staring off at the counter.

BTW...the cook there has been working that grill for 37 years. Good grief.

...short. rainy. romantical.

Bumble and I at the Café du Monde. A waiter used my Nikon to take this. It was a rainy night and we went here after dinner at Coop's Place. Drank some of the best coffee in the world and ate some of the worse beignets in the world.

You might wonder why I'm looking so Hollywood. I'm not trying to be. My glasses broke, and my sunglasses are easier to wear, even at night, than trying to wear my one-armed broken ones.

Then we discovered...cash only. So Bumble went across the street to an ATM.

That's when I saw this handsome man across the street making eyes at me...

We had one day last summer, when Nikki was house setting, that we were able to lounge by the pool. There was much pool cleaning, because...yuck. But, all in all it was a great laid back day.

As an added bonus, this was during Bumbles's "I'm not cutting my hair" phase. And it got long. But we discovered that the longer it got, the curlier it became. He was adorable.

An old picture of Petey that I found on my computer. How do I lose them? Does a little computer troll have his way with my computer while I'm sleeping? I think this was taken at the condo. Or maybe St. Augustine. The time line I follow on it leads me astray. It says I took it with my 35mm. I swore I got that when we moved to Pensacola. So I don't know...we got a new couch when we moved. I'm very confused.

So...here he is in all his Petey-ness.
