From one of the rare occasions when my daughter agreed to pose for me. Got two (bare) flashes to light her up, one on each side of the camera. And yes, a third one on the camera to (optically) trigger the other two. i don't like the washed out area on the right side, but then the flash on that side was my old Yashica CS-240, which always fires at the same power. The wall did not allow me to move it any farther, either.

A view of downtown Chicago, shot towards the end of summer. Its amazing how even the urban landscape changes its texture and colours with seasons.

Traffic at Dusk

A long exposure of the slow and sporadic traffic around the (michigan)lake front in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Kenosha is beautiful and has plenty of photographic opportunities.

Minutes after this shot was taken I was walking back and this car pulled over. The gentleman at the wheel, stuck his head out and asked me if I were the guy who put pictures on the internet. It turned out be Armando Mendoza, an outstanding photographer with whom I had exchanged emails in the past. Isn't it a small world?

He was playing at the Lincoln Park Zoo, Chicago. It was a country type of song , with plenty of plucking. It was a pleasure to listen to his music. I had a short conversation with him and he allowed me to take his pictures.

Back after a sabbatical break:). Haven't been doing any photography at all lately. Dug this out of the archives. Hope to be posting more regularly.

Something to celebrate. Got my first ever DSLR - a Canon EOS 400D - yesterday. Haven't got used to it yet but here I go with one of my first test shots. Nothing great, yet thought I'd show it to you since it's the first one, so to say.

Had to be away for a while since I got busy with my brother's wedding.
Here I go again, with a picture of my little daughter. The background got washed out completely but then it contrasts with the black clothes. What do you think?

Breaking Rules

I have indeed broken the golden rule of thirds here. Well, I wanted the sun, the light on the water and the rocks in the foreground. I even seem to like the flare!. From where I shot, it was impossible to get to a lower shooting position, so that I could foreshorten the lake, and position the horizon lower. But I still like it. Do you?
