Richard Paul Ashcroft (born 11 September 1971 in Billinge Higher End, England) is an English musician, singer and songwriter. He was the lead singer and occasional guitarist of alternative rock band The Verve from their formation in 1990 until their split in 1999, and continues as a lead vocalist working with guitars and keyboards. He became a successful solo artist in his own right, releasing three UK top three solo albums. The Verve reformed in 2007 but again broke up by summer 2009. Ashcroft then founded a new band, RPA & The United Nations of Sound, and released a new album on 19 July 2010.

Its that time of the year again. Where we throw caution to the wind and just let loose. The innagural Juanillo Beach Music Festival (Winter Edition) was an exercise in controlled caos and I mean that in the most flattering way. We had such a great time that I even felt sad when it was all over. Thankfully “spring” is here and with it brings the second installment.

This time around we brought something for everyone. From the high intensity of MNDR’s solo show to the bombastic nu-disco bangers Gigamesh relentlessly puts out we ‘re pretty sure you’ll be barefoot in no time. Of course its a marathon and not a sprint, so to soothe ur gentle souls we’ve brought in the help none other than Slow Hands who will serve as our vessel in our journey towards The Deep and unpredictable NYC house scene.

Join us? Thats ur choice but I think I just made ur decision a little more easy. See u guys Sunday and remember to #KeepOnShavin… literally and figuratively.

Do not fret my pets, u will get ur Juanillo Beach Music Festival playlist tomorrow but before I unleash all that goodness our good friend Luka has graced us with his latest mix. For those of u who dont know, Luka is part of the Deep, a NYC deep house collective that is quickly making a name for itself due to their amazing events held all throughout the city. To be noticed in New York is something so these guys are definately doing something right.

For those of us who have not had the pleasure of seeing these guys live then im glad to inform y’all that u will this Sunday at the Juanillo Beach Music Fest – Spring Edition. More than a SYL Song Pick this should be considered a SYL Project Pick due to the nature of its composition. But alas consider this your preview to what is an exciting new endeavour from our good friend Maria Batlle.

Batlle has embarked on several artistic journeys in her day. This sort of modern day renaissance woman has dabbled in everything from plastic arts to music curation. In her latest project entitled “The Muse Seek Project” she tries to tie history with music.

The project revolves around 8 poems written by Miriam Leon. Each poem is accompanied by a musical composition and a visual interpretation of the same. You can see some of the paintings here. With some help from great artists such as Pacha Massive’s Nova, she is able to create am exhibition that requires all senses working symbiotically. Indeed the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

The ironic part of a music blog posting this video is that im pretty sure we are the proponents of this type of awful behavior  On top of that im even more sure that I have partaken in this type of tomfoolery, which makes this video brilliant of course. Im not saying that everyone who goes to Coachella is like this but probably most are. Kimmel has by far been in the forefront of comedy and it’s great that’s hes finally getting his fair shake. With this he doesn’t hit the nail on the head, he absolutely demolishes the hammer.  Enjoy!
