Chillax Chinese New Year 2012

The 15 days of Chinese New Year ended not long ago. This dragon new year celebration was a peaceful one. Hahaha... Did not really do much visits... I spent my week with my family and a few close friends.

This year, we had our reunion dinner with my maternal family. The master chef was of course, none other than my eldest aunt, Patricia. She was my babysitter back in the primary school days. I have always love her cooking, especially the homemade soup!

Then, I've got a text from Ryan. He and Rachel were in town for Chinese New Year and asked me where to chill. Ahhh... I couldn't decide where to bring them as many of my favourite spots were closed for Chinese New Year. Favourite spots mean street food where they serve snowflake beer and beer snacks. Yes. I am old school like that. In the end, I suggested Eurohouse. The crowd was a little lesser comparing to last Chinese New Year. I didn't have to book a table this time.

Instead of the usual Carlsberg, we ordered a bucket of Savana Dry Cider. Also one of my favourites other than Carlsberg. Loving the sweetness of Savana. Anyway, the bucket of Savana finished in a blink as we played beer games and bottoms up as punishment. Eric joined in later to see our "high" faces. Ahahaha!

On the first day of Chinese New Year, my family and I went to the nursing home to visit my grandma. We spent the whole day there. The place was quite lively *cough cough* , the Lai family invaded the place. Thank god for the drastic improvement in grandma's health. She is getting a lot better. Hopefully, she can walk soon.

The second day of Chinese New Year, visited my maternal family. This year, most of the relatives spent their Chinese New Year overseas. That's why it was rather quiet this year.

As usual, my trip back home is not complete without a David Foster session with my dad.

On this day, I also had a short meet up with a KL friend, Benjamin. He was here for a day with his family to visit relatives. Asked Eric to come along, and we thought we should try out the Ipoh latest happening place, The Sky Lounge. However, the place was crazy packed and we opted for the usual Baliz at Ipoh Garden East! =.=|||

On the 3rd day of The Dragon Year, we headed to Black Canyon at Kinta City for lunch. We fancy the tomyam udon there! Loving the spiciness to the max!

We went to visit few of our relatives. The best part of the day was catching up with Wai Nam, Chris and Havard! I have known these boys since high school. (except for Chris, he is like my brother. We knew each other since primary school.) Wai Nam was supposed to head back to Singapore at 9pm and someone had mistaken his proposal deadline, resulting this....

Miss the time when he helped me study during the form six days. Smart brat! Really! Hopefully, he will get his dream career in Japan! And thank you for the graduation gift you gave, although it is a little late. =P Nice watch! Thank you again!

After sending Wai Nam to the bus station, Havard and I went to De Garden, Ipoh to have a yumcha with a few friends from KL.

Day four, I thought of visiting my god son... but he was at his paternal family's place. =/ So, I ended up having long talks with his mommy whom is also my good friend, Kat. No pictures taken but I am glad that we had the talk. *cough cough* Her mom was so cool. Sharing her stories on love life. Ahahah!

Later the evening was the long awaited reunion with my babes from primary school! Since that Secret Garden was the current "best" place to hang out with friends. However, it turned out to be quite a bad experience as the service there was not up to what we expected. I have to be fair though, after much complaints over the messed up reservations, late orders and two of our orders not served (after 2 hours of waiting), the management did not charge us on the service tax. But I would not want to go back to restaurant till they have improved their service.

As I mentioned earlier, two of the main course ordered was not served even after the rest of my friends finished theirs. T.T It was one of my order. How unfortunate, we reminded the staffs there a few times but I guessed they were too busy to check or they forgot. I tried to keep my cool and walked to the counter to complain and canceled the order. After paying the bill, I called Indulgence to make my table reservation.

The atmosphere at the Indulgence was so much better. Everything was so in control. When we stepped in, we were greeted with all smiles. The anger in me just put off, just like that. =)

Happy...

Awesome food! So, now lesson learnt! Never try to go into a new place during festivities. OMG. While blogging about this, I am actually craving for its tiramisu cake.

Thank goodness for good company! Hehe... After dinner, we hit off to Overtime to chill. We had a great time digging each other's secrets while playing truth or dare. Haha! Miss you girls already!

My last day in Ipoh, a date with my fondest friend. Haha.. Ben, the friend who has been there for me during my ups and downs. *cough cough* Sometimes, he unintentionally causes the downs too. Ahahaha..

Well, that's how I spent my Chinese New Year in Ipoh this year. I will update on the Chap Goh Mei trip to Malacca soon. Have a great weekend!

Defensive Driving Course with MHB Presented by Chevrolet

I was extremely excited when I got to know that I was given the chance to attend the Defensive Driving Course by Chevrolet with the Malaysia's Hottest Bloggers! Hehe... I have never drive an auto car until I attended this course! Check out the video below to have glimpse of the sexy Chevrolet Cruze!

Malaysians are known to be friendly, courteous and polite people but when it comes to driving... Hmmm... Uh-oh! Haha... Ask yourself these few questions:
- Have you ever talk on the mobile phone while driving?
- Or abuse the use of the emergency lane?
- Changing lanes without turning on the signal lights?
- Exceed "speed limit" because you are late?
- Drink and drive?

If you answer yes to any of the questions above, it's time for you to change and avoid the habits above! *cough cough* I have to admit that I am trying to drive ethically after attending the Defensive Driving Course conducted by Asia Advanced Driving Academy (AADA). Defensive driving simply means driving to prevent accidents in spite of the incorrect actions of others or adverse driving conditions. - Drive Proactively!
The course was divided into sessions; The theory and the pratical session.

During the theory session, Mr. Kenvin emphasized the importance of road safety. We learnt about proper seat positioning, the correct way to steer the wheel, general how-to when driving in adverse conditions and also the general do and don'ts.

Our chief instructor from AADA, Mr. Kenvin Low. He has over 15 years of experience in Defensive Driving, Advanced Driving and Racing! Cool huh?! This theory class was definitely an interesting one comparing to the *cough cough* class I attended to get my driving license

Mr. Kenvin explained to us the important basics of road safety and showed us a few gruesome pictures caused by road accidents.

One of the most important thing in driving is the proper sitting position. The proper driving position enable you to achieve good control over your vehicle and allow you to drive comfortably.

Still paying attention...

We also learnt the correct steering position. I don't know about you guys... but I steer my wheel just like "flipping roti canai". =X My hands will cross but now I know it is incorrect and I am trying to make the Push Pull Steering as a habit.

Do you know about the safety devices in your car? Be sure to put on your seat belts whenever you are on the road. =) Nowadays, cars are equipped with air bags and other devices to minimize and prevent fatal road accidents.

Another interesting thing that I've learnt from the defensive driving course is the 2 second rule to manage time when facing potentially hazardous situations. A defensive driver practices the 2 second rule to ensure that there will be enough time to react to changes in the traffic. Never ever do tailgating because if the vehicle in front of you brakes suddenly, you will not have adequate time to react.

After our classroom session, our instructors showed us the how to keep our cars in good shape. Always schedule a basic vehicle maintenance; engine oil, battery, water, tyres, etc.

#1: Slalom
We learnt to slalom (zig zag in between the harmless cones) with the Cruze. Hehe... Sounds easy? Steering through left and right the series of cones actually distributes the weight of the car from side to side. The Cruze was stable and maneuvering it was an ease!

Tested the performance of Chevrolet Cruze through a slalom course. The Chevy is stable and handles well as it get through the series of cones.

#2: Emergency Braking Accident Avoidance
In this exercise we learnt emergency braking accident avoidance in a safe and controlled environment. This is important because this can develope driver's judgement skills when deal with hazardous environment.

The Cruze is equipped with 4-wheel disk brakes with Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Brake Assist, and Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD) which helps to stop the car in a shorter distance while allowing the driver to maneuver away from a collision.

#3: Skid
My favourite drill of all has to be skidding! Ngeh ngeh! Accelerated and the emergency brakes! Woah! Imagine the adrenaline rush when the car turned a few degrees before it stopped.

The purpose of skidding exercise is to train drivers to be more alert and skillful in reacting to emergency. We learnt to control the acceleration, braking and proper steering.

Simple Plan Get Your Heart On @ KL Live !

This was my first concert for the year 2012! SIMPLE PLAN was in KL for their Get Your Heart ON Tour! Ecstatic max! I did not expect that I would enjoyed myself that much but I DID!

Just before the concert, I had my facial treatment Amante Taipan. Ahaha! My babe and I with our bare faces! We filled our stomach at Strawberry Fields Cafe, PJ Old Town.

Arrived in KL Live together with my New Tune mates (Khai Yee and Ginny) and Felicia. Simple Plan really brought out the kid in us! Ahahaha... We were screaming and jumping like mad at the lower tier!

The local band The Revellers opened for the Simple Plan's gig!

After the opening act and while waiting for Simple Plan, we camwhored! My apologies, it has been some time that I camwhore with my unimates. Forgive me.

Simple Plan started the show with Shut Up! See the hands?! Can you feel the vibes last night?! They belted out a number of their old songs! It was really weird that I remembered the lyrics of their old songs! High school days! I used have Simple Plan's Poster sticked on to my wall! LOL

The climax of the night was when they sang Jet Lag! Ahaha! *HYPE* After that song, my legs cramped. Lol They also did a medley of a few club hits! That was so cool! They did a little modification to their "Thank you" song by singing Terima Kasih instead of thank you. Geez!

The night was PERFECT!

So, now I am wondering... Should I go for Avril Lavigne's concert too?! *Temptations*

[ADV] Where's the Party 2 @ Carlsberg Brewery

So?! Where was the party?! Ever since "Where's the Party?" debuts in June, I ecstactically looked forward for the second part of Where's the Party? (WTP). Thank you to Carlsberg (MY) and Malaysia's Hottest Bloggers for giving me a chance to attend one of the most happening party of the year!

This time, our meet up point was at the Shah Alam Stadium. Where's the Party returns with a bang as Carlsberg (MY) hosted the party for almost 2000 curious party goers! As for me, the party was even better because I get to bring my best friend, Felicia along!

The highlight of the party for me had to be the Sky Ride! It was an exhilarating experience flying up high and enjoying the view of the brewery from above.

Carlsberg also engaged activities to promote responsible drinking and drink in moderation. As part of the ‘Enjoy Responsibly’ campaign, there were activities like Alcohol Testing Zone, where consumers had their alcohol level tested while partying and the Drunk Man Zone which enabled consumers to play an android game which showed them the effect of excessive alcohol consumption. I was really amazed that Carlsberg was able to come up with activities to remind the us, the consumer to be safe, in control, drink smart and stick to the age limit. Kudos!

When the sunset, Carlsberg presented to the crowd, an array of entertaining performances by international DJs, renowned rappers, bands and musicians. Locally acclaimed performers Dennis Lau and Shawn Lee presented a thumping combination of an electric violin and beat boxing. Special group appearances by famous Korean star, Lee An, the unforgettably spontaneous star rapper of Carlsberg Malaysia, Mr Soren Ravn along with violinist Dennis Lau awed the party crowd further.

World renowned girl band ‘High on Heels’ also made their first appearance in Malaysia and entertained the crowd with their creative mix of LIVE classical instruments with song mixing on their turntables.

After several hours of non-stop music from DJ Sugar from UK and DJ Hiloco from Japan, Where's the Party came to a close at about 2am... It was another good party experience! Can't wait for then next Where's the Party?! It had definitely got us calling for more Carlsberg!
