Is He / She Following Me on Twitter?

Isfollow.com makes it easier to check relationships (who is following who) on Twitter. To check if someone is following you, there is no need to search for your Twitter handler in their “following” list. Just simply enter both your Twitter handle and your friend’s Twitter handle and Isfollow.com will display the result within seconds.

Virtual Router: Connectify Alternative

Connectify makes sharing of internet connection via Wi-Fi on Windows 7 easier than ever. But in case it’s not working properly on your machine, or you desire a simpler interface (as if Connectify is not simple enough), you may wan to try Virtual Router.

How easy can it be? Just simply enter your desired SSID and password, click on “Start Virtual Router” and off you go.

After starting, your friends can connect to the Wi-Fi network and start going online using your internet connection. It works great at times, but at some other times, it’ll say “Virtual Router could not be started“, at least on my laptop. I still couldn’t figure it out yet.

OhLife: Diary That Comes to You

Wants to keep a diary but finds it difficult to write consistently? What about a diary that comes to you to be written on, every night, so that you won’t miss a single day?

OhLife does exactly this. After signing up, OhLife will send you an email every night at 8PM asking “How did your day go?“. Your reply to that email will be your diary entry of the day, automatically stored on OhLife’s website for your reading pleasure in future.

Too busy or just didn’t bother to login to read your entries? Fine. Your diary entry will come and look for you instead. In the same nightly email itself, OhLife will show a random diary entry you wrote in the past.

If for any reason you wanted to stop OhLife from sending you the nightly emails, you can do so from the settings panel. The email delivery time will be fixed at 8PM every night, but you can manipulate this by changing your time zone setting.

You are free to delete or edit any entry you rather not keep. Export is available in .txt format.

Save / Cache Webpage

Now you see, now you don’t. It happens very frequently on webpages with “offensive“, “sensitive“, “non-government friendly” or plain stupid content. To preserve a webpage as it is, at the time you are viewing it, nothing gets more convenient than just hitting the print screen button. But if you prefer a more functional or real webpage, instead of just a plain screen capture, try these:

FreezePage

FreezePage saves all element (but scripts) of webpages you wanted to preserve to its server, provides you a link, and readily show you the saved webpage whenever you visit the link. The saved page looks almost exactly as the original webpage, including all the images and CSS.

It won’t support scripts though, which are mostly advertisements anyway, so it doesn’t really matter.

Unregistered user can freeze up to 5MB worth of webpages, while registered (free) user up to 10MB.

Kwout

Kwout is basically “screenshot with clickable links”. It won’t save the entire webpage unlike FreezePage, not even the entire “above the fold”. The maximum size of the screenshot is limited to 600×600.

You can however embed the clickable screenshot on anywhere with html enabled. You can embed it as it is, or decorate it with border, rounded corner and shawdow.

Uptime

Uptime is as good as in June at 99.99%. Not bad at all for a $10/month shared hosting by Hostgator. RSS subscribers got a bump from ~300 to ~400, around 100 subscribers increase.

Hide Title Bar in Firefox (a la Chrome)

If you have used Google Chrome, you would know how simple the user interface is. Google basically only includes essentials in Chrome, eliminating all pointless element. Title bar being one of them. It serves no purpose but occupy precious screen real estate, especially for netbook users.

I would have switched to Chrome as my primary browser if not for the Firefox add-ons I cannot live without. If you are on the same boat, you would want to have a look at this Firefox add-on — Hide Caption Titlebar Plus.

Installing this little add-on will remove your Firefox’s title bar, and move the “minimize, maximize & close” buttons down. This is how my Firefox looks like without the title bar:

The options are pretty extensive, allowing you to dictate which window’s title bar you want to rid, which you want to retain (e.g. pop ups).

Now we can have most screen real estate for things that matters

SheepTech June10 Report Card

Despite of the lack of new content (will write more actively after I have cleared my last examination in August), SheepTech continues to grow, setting yet another new record in June with 43,468 unique visitors. That’s a 19% increase from the previous month. Alexa ranking however declined to 217,000 despite the traffic increase. Hmm?

Money Made

Sold a sidebar widget at $100 for three months, which translate to roughly $33.33 per month. Both AdSense and Infolink see an increase in revenue.

Total: $492.40 (+$134.80)

Uptime

HostGator did a very good job in June, with 99.99% uptime (just 2 minutes of downtime).

RSS subscribers got a boost from ~200 to ~300, even without any new content being posted. Puzzling yet pleasing.

Add Background to Google Search Homepage

After getting a new look approximately a month ago, Google is further improving our user experience by rolling out a feature that allow us to select a custom background image for the homepage. Think Bing, but with you having control which image is being shown.

Photos can be selected from your computer, your own Picasa Web Album or a public gallery hosted by Picasa.

We are beginning to roll out this new feature to users in the U.S. over the next few days, so if you don’t see a link in the lower left-hand corner of Google.com now, check back soon. For those of you outside of the U.S., you can expect to see this new feature in the coming days as we roll it out internationally to offer similar, consistent experiences globally.

Google seems to be going more and more “Bing”, first by having a left sidebar and now a background image. For good.
