A month or so ago, I met these cuties for their newborn session. And now that their birth announcements have gone out, I can finally share them on my website!

In some ways, it’s hard to believe these two were born on the same day—little E (who’s older) was nearly two pounds smaller than her brother A. She has such delicate features! And despite what you see here, she was wide awake for much of our session.

They both look a lot like their big brother did when he was a newborn, but I think A especially does. And I’ve seen some more recent photos of him on Facebook . . . the cheeks!

Mom had a great decorative sled, and she found the cutest “Elmer Fudd” hats! We had fun posing the babies in front of the fireplace. It makes a perfect scene, don’t you think?

And finally, of course we had to get a photo of the twins with their big brother T. He’s four now, and quite a card. I got to spend some one-on-one time with him while the babies were eating, and we had a great time.

Watch for more photos of this family in the coming year . . . I can’t wait to see how everyone has grown at the twins’ six-month and one-year sessions!

Do you remember how cold it was the Saturday after Thanksgiving? These four people do! They’re siblings, but now they live in three different states (none of them Pennsylvania!) and this was the only time we could all get together for their family photo session.

I was excited to work with them and their mom because they were planning a surprise Christmas gift for their dad. We met at a location that means a lot to him, and we got some really beautiful photos. The “kids” predicted that their dad would cry when he saw the images, and while I can’t confirm it, I have it on good authority that their prediction came true.

B family, it was really wonderful to work with you—I’m really glad we were able to successfully complete our covert operation!

Whew! It was a crazy busy holiday season, and I’m excited to finally have a chance to sit down and do a little blogging! I’ve been holding this little guy’s photos for a while so his parents could have a chance to surprise their friends and family with his birth announcements. Wouldn’t you like to open an envelope and see this sweet little face?

This is the second time I worked with this family on a newborn photo session. You may recognize the Z in the last photo from his big sister’s newborn session a few years ago. That’s her holding him below—hard to believe she was ever so small!

This family was so great! Gorgeous (as you can see!), relaxed, and fun-loving. The kids got along well, and they were all about the posing—check out the black & white photo at the bottom!

I think the dad was concerned that our photo session was going to be long, stiff, and boring—after the first shutter click, he asked me how many shots I planned to take. But I think he might have been pleasantly surprised at the fun we had and how quickly things went. The kids told me they had a good time, and that’s always one of my goals. Another one of my goals is to get some shots of Mom and Dad together, and I think we got a great one. Don’t they look wonderful?

Thank you, R family, for a fun afternoon—I’m glad we decided to go for the cool-weather session!

This little family will soon increase by approximately 40%. Yep, they’re preparing for twins(!) in the next few months. When I saw Mom’s announcement on Facebook a few months ago, I was so excited for them—I’ve known them since they were expecting big brother T (click the links to see him as a newborn, at six months old, and at his one year session).

You may notice that I use a lot of diptych and triptych shots of T—he has such a personality that I just have to show the progression of his expressions from one shot to the next. He’s a little comedian, too. After our session, his mom encouraged him to tell me a joke: “What says, ‘Oh! Oh! Oh!’?” When I couldn’t guess it, he said (with perfect timing, I might add), “Santa Claus walking backward!” Yes, I’m afraid these parents are going to have their hands full with this one (I can only imagine what his younger siblings will be like)!

J & P, as always, it was really fun working with you. I’m so glad we beat Sandy to the punch and managed to capture your photos in the beautiful leaves, and I can’t wait to meet your new additions and follow them through their first year!

I’ve known Asti and Jasper (and their “parents”!) for a long time, so I was excited to work with them this fall. They couldn’t be more opposite—in obvious things like their coat colors, but also in their personalities. Of course, the difference in their ages might have something to do with that, too!

Asti is a calm old guy who’s been through a lot health-wise in the last several months. And Jasper is young and rambunctious—we had to spend some time tiring him out before we could get any shots of him sitting or lying down! But they’re pretty good buddies, nonetheless, and it was really fun to work with them. Thanks, D and B!

Would you look at these little beauties? They were just seven days old when I met them, and they modeled like champs! They were so calm and relaxed, and the super-warm temps meant that we pretty much did their entire newborn session outside!

I just loved their sweet little hats. Can you believe their mom’s doc knitted them? She had one all made and ready, but they thought that the second baby would be a boy. When they discovered that she wasn’t, the doc quickly whipped up another one just for baby K!

Of course, we couldn’t have a photo session without including big brother C. He just turned three, and is a lover of all things Thomas. But he was happy to lie down and pose with his sisters when Mom mentioned that there would be jellybeans at the end!

C and K, thank you so much for allowing me to come and photograph your family. It was really great spending time with all of you, and we captured some beautiful images!

This little guy’s mom and I have known each other for almost 15 years . . . since back in our carefree single days. I worked with his big brother (don’t they look alike?!) a few years ago, and I was really excited to meet him and snuggle him and get him in front of my camera.

He was a little older than most of the newborns that I work with, so he was quite alert. It took some maneuvering to get him to sleep, but we managed it! And I think we got some beautiful portraits of him.

Not only does A have a human brother, but he also has several kitty-cat siblings. And Leo decided that he would be my assistant. He served as a stand-in for A, and he made sure I had the background adjusted just “so.” After all that, he took a break to lounge in the backdrop “hammock” that was created between the backdrop stand and the beanbag. Silly kitty!

J and M, it was great to meet your new addition—I can’t wait to get to know him better as he grows!

Miss R played some hunger games with us, all right! Oh, not the kind in the book or the movie . . . the kind where all she wanted to do during our session was eat! But in between her meals and snacks, we got some beautiful portraits of her and her family.

You may remember her mom’s recent maternity session, and her big brother’s newborn session from a few years ago (don’t they look alike?!).

Mr. H was very cooperative and a lot of fun to work with. We played with his “guys” and his trucks, and he posed for a few photos with Dad. At one point, he begged to hold the baby. I know he’s going to be a great big brother!

A and C, it’s really been wonderful getting to know all of you. I look forward to working with you again and watching H and R grow!

This morning I met up with a friend, and we headed to the Nannygoat Alley vintage & estate sale in Gladwyne. From the street, it looked like a small, mid-century house. But inside, it was huge! And it was packed with antique and vintage treasures.

One of the kids’ bedrooms upstairs held this adorable little tea set, and I just couldn’t resist! I have visions of photographing a little girl who’s hosting an outdoor tea party with a few of her favorite stuffed animals and dolls. In fact, I couldn’t even wait for the little girl—I set everything up as soon as I got home, and took a few photos!

I laid out a red cloth for some Valentine’s Day pop, and covered it with my own vintage tablecloth that my grandma crocheted years ago. Shhh . . . don’t tell my husband that I used his shortbread cookies as props. They went right back into the package when I was finished with them!
