Good Morning!

I have attached a flyer in the hopes that you will help us to spread the word about a benefit to help with expenses for the family of Madelyn Lamb.

Madelyn is 8 years old & has already been through 14 surgeries. She will now have a surgery on June 6th to amputate both of her legs. She will be at Riley Children’s hospital for around 6 weeks. One & sometimes both of her parents will be missing work during this time. The benefit is to help them with their everyday expenses, that losing income will not be able to cover.

The event will be held at the Eagles Lodge on Franklin street here in Shelbyville, on June 1st. There are many events planned for the day.

In addition bake sales are being held every Monday & Friday at the Lodge to help raise funds. If you can donate any baked goods, please contact the number on the flyer or you may call here at the church,

All events are smoke-free

This is family living in Shelbyville going through something that no family should have to. As you can see from Madelyn’s picture on the flyer is a happy 8 year old, looking forward to the surgery & having new legs.

Please her & her family in your prayers.

Feel free to call with questions!

Pray you have a Blessed Day!

This opportunity takes them through the process of operating a small business. They have planned out every part of the stand process–location, supplies, sales goals, and even customer service training. Students also created their lemon shake-up recipe and had it tested and approved by family members.

As decided by the children, their lemonade stand will be a non-profit and all proceeds will be given 50/50 to the Grover Museum and the Shelby County Public Library. The stand will be at the Grover Museum on Saturday, May 18, 2013, noon to 3:00 pm.

PACS is a volunteer based program that depends on good people in the community stepping forward to help our youth realize their dreams by going on to post-secondary education and becoming successful adults who add value to our community.

Why do this?

Shelby County has many students who are eligible to receive the necessary funding to achieve an in-state college education through the Twenty-first Century Scholars program. Many are currently signed up and engaged in this program. The purpose of PACS is to encourage them, throughout their middle and high school careers, to meet and maintain the requirements needed to become high school graduates and to honor the Scholars Pledge they have taken to be good citizens. Only then can they go on to receive these tuition benefits and achieve their dreams.

Who can help?

A caring adult who wants to make a difference in a young person’s life. Someone who can be a cheerleader and mentor to a child to keep them motivated, accountable and supported. All mentors must pass a criminal back-ground check.

How much time is involved?

It only takes a minimum of 1 hour twice a month at a local middle school or high school to make a difference in the direction of a young person’s life.

How do I get involved?

Please use the contact information below to find out more about the program and to sign up to volunteer.

This program is a part of Family Services and Prevention Programs, and is fully supported by the Shelby County Community Aspiration Process. PACS is funded through grants from the Blue River Community Foundation, City of Shelbyville, Shelby County Drug Free Coalition and Duke Energy.
