Holding Out for a Hero, Book 2

Megan Asher has a thriving career, looks, self-confidence to spare. It all means little without the love of her life. Trevor has returned from deployment in Afghanistan a haunted man, emotionally distant and unwilling to connect—except in bed. Then even that fragile thread snaps. Brokenhearted, she is forced to call off their wedding and, after a few months’ separation, try to move on.

With every aspect of his life spinning out of his once-legendary control, Trevor Wyatt convinces himself that Megan is better off—and safer—as far away from his demons as possible. Until he comes back to town for his brother’s wedding, and discovers Megan is dating.

Suddenly realizing what he’s thrown away, he vows to breach the fortress she’s built around her heart. They come together in a cataclysm of rekindled passion that unleashes the very demons he never wanted her to witness.

Back to square one, Megan realizes she must take the ultimate risk to slip past Trevor’s defenses. Give him control in the one place she can. The bedroom. The seductive move is one she prays will be the first step in helping heal him and their love.

EXCERPT

“Can I get anyone another beer?” Todd asked, standing from the couch and stretching. “This game is kind of slow.”

Trevor shook his head at the suggestion to another beer. This baseball game wasn’t doing shit to distract him from his thoughts, which alternated between luscious ideas of what he wanted to do to Megan and darker memories of Afghanistan. Alcohol wouldn’t help his state of mind either way.

There were less than ten of them here at Todd’s house, watching the game and drinking beer. The Wyatt brothers, a cousin and a couple close friends. Not much of a bachelor party, but it’s all Tyson had wanted.

Trevor glanced over at Tyson and bit back a smile. His middle brother sat at the far end of the couch, his fingers clenching and unclenching around his beer. He’d look at his watch occasionally, then shift in his seat.

“You really should’ve had a bachelor party,” Todd muttered, returning from the kitchen with a beer. “You’re just sitting here thinking about Ellie all night anyway.”

Wincing, Trevor shook his head, thinking his little brother shouldn’t have brought up the reminder that Ellie was at a bachelorette party.

“I’m sure they’re just hanging out, Ty.” Trevor kept his voice casual as he gave Tyson a brief smile. “Probably just having lots of sugar from Kate’s place, some wine and gossiping.”

Tyson grunted. “They took over The Oceanside Tavern. I have a feeling it’s more than cupcakes and chatting.”

The tavern? Really? Trevor scowled and shifted on the couch. Hell…maybe it wasn’t quite so innocent.

The front door burst open and a man hurled himself inside, out of breath and wide-eyed.

Tyson came to his feet. “Jimmy? What’s going on?”

The just-out-of-college kid pulled his hat off and twisted it in his hands. “Sheriff, I just came from the tavern and it’s getting a little rough. A stripper just arrived, think it might even be the younger Haggerty brother. And I think one of the girls just busted her ankle.”

“Jesus.” Trevor joined his brother on his feet, hoping he didn’t sound too excited as he suggested,

“Maybe we oughtta go calm things down?”

Tyson’s jaw flexed and he nodded. “Someone get me my keys.”

Trevor rode shotgun in Tyson’s SUV, while Todd sat in the back. The three of them were silent as they made the two-minute drive down to Main Street where the tavern was located.

When they pulled up in front of The Oceanside Tavern the sound of music and women yelling could clearly be heard.

“Shit,” Tyson muttered. “I’m surprised nobody called the station yet.”

“No kidding.” Trevor agreed and opened his door, stepping down from the vehicle.

Todd came around beside him and grinned. “I don’t know, this could be fun. Lots of buzzed women, no men. Maybe I’ll stick around for a while.”

Trevor slapped his youngest brother on the back of the head and bit back a curse. Though the women of Wyattsville would likely love having the town’s most notorious flirt—who’d also been labeled sexiest firefighter in Wyattsville—staying to hang out.

“Well,” Tyson sighed and placed his hands on his hips, staring at the door to the tavern. “I guess we’d better do this.”

Todd nodded, wiping the smile from his face, even though his eyes still danced with amusement.

“Let’s do this. Time to reel in the fiancée, bro.”

Trevor fell back, let Tyson stride in first and do what he needed to do. He and Todd walked in a moment later to join the chaos.

“Holy shit balls,” Todd muttered in dismay.

Trevor silently echoed the sentiment as he took in the scene. Jesus, he almost preferred hand-to-hand combat than having to face breaking up this.

All around them women were dancing and slamming back alcohol. Some were even dancing on the bar. In fact one gal, probably the one rumored to have busted an ankle, was sitting on the bar with a fat ice pack on her foot. Poor Evan and whoever else was on duty were standing far back behind the counter, watching with wide eyes as if they contemplated abandoning ship.

Trevor stepped farther into the tavern and slid his trained gaze over the crowd. Searching for any sign of real problems, but mostly searching for Megan.

He caught sight of the stripper—fortunately he wasn’t quite naked—with half a dozen gals circled around him hooting and hollering. Ellie being one of them.

No Megan though. He slid his gaze beyond the group to the corner of the bar. Bingo. She was there, facing the crowd, leaning back with her elbows on the bar. Her breasts peeking over the neckline of the clingy blue dress she wore.

And she was watching him. Her blue gaze met his solidly over the madness inside the tavern. Trevor couldn’t look away, almost like an invisible laser connected them. Even across the room he could see something had changed. He didn’t sense resentment or anger in her eyes. Instead it was something else that gave him a hell of a lot of hope. His breath caught, the muscles in his body coiled, and his dick leapt to attention against the denim of his jeans.

Not breaking her gaze, he pushed through the crowd of people toward her. Dimly aware of Tyson and Todd shouting out instructions for the stripper to put his clothes back on and the women to calm down.

Trevor reached the counter and sat on the empty stool next to Megan. Close up he searched her face, trying to tell if she was drunk or not. Her cheeks were slightly flushed, but her eyes lacked that intoxicated glaze. Instead they sparkled with heat. With need.

He arched a brow and took the almost full cocktail from her hand, setting it on the counter.

“You girls having fun?”

“You could say that.” She ran her tongue over her mouth and smiled slightly. “Though I suppose you boys will put an end to that?”

“I suppose so.” He tried, and failed, not to let his gaze slip from hers to explore her body. But the way she sat, her breasts thrusting against the clingy blue dress, made it impossible not to.

Today’s theme is Author’s Choice. Well, since I’m wrapping up a week in the Las Vegas area, I figured a fun excerpt would be from my book Negligee Behavior.

What she doesn’t know is that her instincts are right: the groom has a hidden agenda. He needs her money to pay off his gambling debts and she’s his ticket to the good life.

Marco Vargas isn’t sure what he’s getting himself into when he rescues Brandy, but figures he’ll do the chivalrous thing. He offers her a job in his bar and the chance to sort out her feelings. But it seems that keeping Brandy hidden is easier than keeping his hands off her—and what will happen when Brandy discovers that Marco has secrets of his own?

EXCERPT

When the food arrived he dug into his greasy burger, his awareness of the woman across from him diminishing some. He was almost able to stop thinking of her as the woman he’d just shared an insanely hot kiss with, and instead went back to thinking of her as the choir teacher in a cat shirt.

Then she slid her fork into the cheesecake and lifted a bite to her lips. With her eyes closed, she began emitting the most seductive, orgasmic noises as she took a bite.

“This is good,” she said, her fork diving back down for another bite. “This is really good. I needed this.”

Did it make him an asshole for thinking she needed a whole lot more than cheesecake? She needed to get laid, and not by some dumbass named Gordon.

“Did you want some wine?” she asked.

Marco blinked. “Wine?”

“You were just staring at my wineglass, and I thought you might have wanted some.”

Actually, he thought, I was staring at your breasts behind the wineglass. Were they big or small? It was the damn mystery of the night.

“No, thanks.” He gave her a brief smile and picked up a fry.

“Can I have one?”

He looked down at his dwindling fry supply, ready to protest, but she’d already picked up a fry and proceeded to eat it, savoring each bite as erotically as she had the cheesecake. Was she doing it on purpose?

No. That would have been about as likely as Brandy having actually been a stripper.

“So where do we go from here?” she asked, licking the grease from her fingers.

He ground his teeth and forced his attention away from her mouth.

“I was thinking,” she went on. “Maybe we could go to a show? I haven’t had the chance to really do the whole Vegas…”

He listened to her drone on about the Vegas experience as she polished off the rest of his fries. He hated going to shows. They were a waste of time and money.

“I’ll pay, of course.” She drained the rest of her wine and then looked at him, a dazzling smile on her face. “I think the alcohol is kicking in. It should by now. I mean I had a half a bottle earlier, and another glass here. I can tell because—”

“I think a show sounds great,” he interrupted, not even wanting to know how she could tell she might be drunk.

“Oh. You are the best.” She snagged another fry.

“Do you think we could get tickets for Donny and Marie?”

Donny and fucking Marie? Seriously? This was hell. He was fantasizing about a woman that dressed worse than his grandma and wanted him to go see The Osmonds in concert.

He should have taken her up on the wine.

“They are still here, aren’t they? My mom loved Donny Osmond. I had to listen to him when I was a kid. You know that song, “Puppy Love?” I could sing it for you.”

Fuck, please don’t. “No, that’s cool. I know it,” he said so fast he nearly tripped on the words. “But I don’t think I can get tickets. I’m sure you have to book way in advance.”

Brandy ate the last bite of her cheesecake and gave him a suspicious look. “Okay, let’s be honest. I’m guessing you’re like every other man out there. You’d rather have a root canal than see Donny and Marie in concert.”

Marco grimaced. “That about sums it up.”

“How about a magic show?” she suggested hopefully. “That’s not so bad, is it?”

When? When would this night end? Come midnight he was gone, out of here. Good-bye. Good-night. Gone. Good Samaritan hat could be hung back up.

“No. That’s not so bad,” he heard himself say.

Her mouth tilted upward and something shifted inside him, made his breath catch.

“You’ve got an amazing smile,” he told her without thinking.

The man who vows to protect her may be her biggest threat.

Savage, Book 1

Being the daughter of a world-renowned scientist, Sienna Peters has struggled to carve out her own career in the field. But her world is sent spinning when she discovers a secret species being held in the lab where she works, and the horrible things being done to them. Compelled to do more than hand off an information-packed jump drive to her father, she sets out to free the creatures.

The minute his team enters the compound, federal agent Warrick Donovan knows their mission will have more trouble than they bargained on. Unfortunately, trouble comes in the form of Sienna Peters, the younger sister of his close friend. Now not only does he need to save her pretty ass, he needs to discover just how involved she is with the imprisonment of the shifters.

Sienna knows she should trust no one—not even the man she might still love. But as the danger escalates and past passion ignites, her heart has other ideas. Even when the shroud of mystery is ripped off more than one stunning truth…

Warning: Must love alpha males, be intrigued by federal agents who may or may not shift into wolves, and most importantly be prepared for intense action of the dangerous and sexual kind.

“A thrilling, sexy adventure from page one. Awesome!” Cherry Adair, New York Times Bestselling Author

EXCERPT
Jocelyn removed her diamond stud earrings and set them on the antique bureau of her lush bedroom, silently repeating the information she’d just been told.

The shifters had been freed? There were guards. Cameras. Alarms. How in the hell could the shifters possibly have gotten out? An obscene amount of money had gone into this project. And now they were gone…trotting out of the lab like the savage animals they were.

Her pulse jerked and her mouth tightened, if only just the tiniest bit. She reached for her champagne flute, her steady hands not betraying the rage that brewed just beneath the surface. She took a sip, before she turned and stared at the man standing in her doorway.

“The shifters are gone?” she finally murmured, arching a brow.

Robert, her lover for the past year and a half, swallowed hard and gave a stiff nod. “Yes. I’ve sent all my men to find out who is responsible—we suspect an employee of the lab—and to recover the shifters. I’m certain they won’t get far. I promise, none of this will be leaked.”

What a fool he was. A smile played on her mouth now as she strode slowly toward him, her bare feet caressed by soft carpeting. The silk of her robe clung to her toned body with each step she took. “You’re certain?”

His appreciative gaze slid over her, his eagerness for the seductive evening she’d promised him apparent in the way he licked his lips. “Yes, my love. Please, don’t concern yourself with anything. It’s being taken care of.”

She came to a stop in front of him, and reached out to stroke the smooth lapels of his tux he had yet to change out of. Relief flashed in his eyes as he slid his hands to her hips, his head dipping as he leaned in to kiss her.

Jocelyn moved her knee from the confines of her robe and drove it between his legs, finally allowing her face to twist into a cold mask of fury.

Robert dropped like a stone, gasping in agony as his eyes watered.

“Don’t concern myself?” she repeated lightly and took another sip of the sweet champagne, savoring the bite on her tongue. “Do I look like a fucking idiot to you, Robert? Which employee is responsible?”

Writhing on the floor, he choked out, “Sienna Peters.”

She turned away, mentally pulled up an image of the petite blonde lab rat. A quiet woman who appeared to be entirely both too smart and too stupid for her own good.

But Sienna hadn’t been alone in this, she wouldn’t have even known about the shifters’ captivity. Someone else must’ve tipped her off, and she had a pretty good idea who that person was.

Her mind calculated the possibilities of what needed to be done. After a moment, she turned around and approached her lover once more.

“I don’t really trust that you or your men know how to fix this, Robert,” she murmured. “Now listen carefully to what I want you to do…”

It’s here! Today’s the day when Savage Hunger releases from Samhain Publishing! I’m so excited, because this is a bit of a different road I’ve taken with this book. It’s a paranormal. I’ve dabbled in paranormal before, but this is a full blown, paranormal book that’s part of a series! Now I haven’t given up contemporary romance (which is my original love!), I’m just exploring a new genre as well.

Here’s more about Savage Hunger, what people are saying about it, and where you can buy!

EXCERPT

Warrick pulled the Glock from his holster, not the least bit disappointed in the change of plans. If anything, the thought of confronting someone who might be a part of his comrades’ imprisonment brought a ruthless smile to his face.

He moved forward stealthily, watching and listening for any sign of movement.

Come out, come out, wherever you are. And you might just get your head blown off.

A faint clicking noise made him still. He cocked his head, trying to place the sound. There it was again, a soft but rhythmic clicking. Something familiar about the noise prickled in the back of his mind. Almost like…high heels? His brows drew together and he drew in a slow breath. Oh, yeah, their tango was a woman.

He crept forward, his lips quirking in amusement as he finally spotted her. And a regular Cinde-fucking-rella by the looks of it.

Her blonde hair was in some fancy knot on the top of her head, leaving the smooth, alabaster skin of her neck to gleam in the dim lighting. She looked as if she was on her way to the damn ball, wearing a floor-length, completely out of place evening gown. He almost missed the knife in her hand when his attention got snagged by the pair of small perky breasts.

You’re not here to appreciate the female anatomy, buddy.

He turned his attention back to the little KA-BAR folding knife she clutched. Was she using it for protection, or with the intent to cause harm? He made a small grunt in the back of his throat. Either way, she should’ve picked a bigger knife.

Warrick pressed himself against the wall and took another step toward her. He had to move fast. The woman, though still a good distance away, kept pausing and glancing around. And though he didn’t doubt for a moment he could easily take the petite gal, the fact that she appeared jumpy and wielded a knife made her unpredictable.

For a moment he thought she saw him—she stared down the hall where he stood in a dark shadow and seemed to hesitate—but then she turned and continued toward the hostages.

He kept his breathing shallow. The likelihood that she could see him was slim. He was covered in black from head to toe, with just his face exposed, and he was standing in a corner of the lab where the lighting was out, blending easily with the shadows.

Another ear-splitting scream ripped through the building and the woman jerked, sending the knife skittering across the floor.

It was the only opening he needed. Warrick reholstered the Glock, lunged away from the wall and went for her.

The woman didn’t even see him coming. She was leaning down to grab the knife when his arms locked around her waist and he knocked them both to the floor.

His palm slipped over her mouth, smothering the scream that erupted past her lips. She bucked beneath him, the soft curve of her bottom grinding into his hips as her muffled cries of fear left hot puffs of air on his hand.

Jesus, she needed to stay the hell still. Warrick ground his teeth together, trying not to think about the softness of her body as he let his full weight pin her to the ground, making any movement on her part impossible.

He used his free hand to touch the communication button near his ear. “Tango apprehended.”

Lowering his head so that his mouth was just above the pale curve of her ear, he muttered, “Any more weapons on you, Cinderella?”

Another warm puff of air caressed his hand as she replied with what sounded like some kind of expletive. His lips curved into a humorless smile as he moved his hand down her side, searching for more weapons. Who was she? And more importantly, why was she here?

“I think you came to the wrong party, princess.”

He patted down her side, pressing firmly against the smooth fabric of her gown to check for more weapons. It became difficult to breathe as he slid his hand down her tiny waist and inward.

Warrick eased his weight off her just enough to maneuver his hand up her front, shutting his brain off from anything but finding more hidden weapons. The woman began to struggle again, her muffled cries outraged when she realized where his hand was traveling.

“Just need to make sure you’re not armed.” This time his lips brushed the soft curve of her ear.

An electric current ran through him and his eyelids narrowed as he breathed in the perfume she wore. Some kind of spicy vanilla scent. Sweet, sexy…and somewhat familiar. A memory tingled in the back of his head, but before he could acknowledge it pain rocketed through his hand.

“Shit!” He pulled at his hand, but her teeth followed, piercing the skin until he felt the wet trickle of blood.

“The hell you bite me,” he snarled.

Warrick flexed his hips against her, grinding her lower body hard to hold her still against the concrete floor, and used his free hand to grab the back of her hair. His fingers wrapped in the knot on top of her head, grabbing her hair and jerking her head backward.

She eased her bite, opening her mouth and unclamping her teeth, before finally crying out in frustration and pain. Her furious scream pierced the air of the hallway, echoing in the building and setting off the hostages, their enraged howls starting up once more.

Warrick cursed and clamped his palm across her mouth again. “Bite me again and I swear to fucking God you’ll regret it.”

“Donovan, is that the tango? You need backup?”

Warrick’s lips tightened at the amusement in Larson’s tone as his voice came through the earpiece. He pressed the button to reply. “Under control.”

Larson gave a soft laugh. “Take all the time you need, buddy. I’m good here.”

All the time he needed? Bullshit. He’d have this bitch contained in seconds.

Warrick eased his weight off the woman and—without removing his hand from her mouth—grabbed her hip and flipped her onto her back. He caught her flailing hands and pinned her wrists above her head with his free hand.

“Now listen up, lady. I need you to…fuck me!” He blinked and shook his head against the roaring in his ears. “Sienna?”

EXCERPT

Sienna stepped into the room and glanced around with a critical eye. “This is my room?”

He opened his mouth to inform her they’d be sharing, but changed his mind.

She’d figure it out soon enough. Besides, better not get her all pissed off and then leave, who knew what he’d come back to?

Crossing the room to the dresser, he pulled out one of the drawers. “Go ahead and get yourself settled in. Here’s a T-shirt you can throw on for bed. Unless you want to sleep in that dress.”

She made no effort to catch the shirt he tossed at her.

“You have clothes here?” she asked skeptically.

“Not mine personally. All our safe houses are stocked with them. We need to be prepared to stay for awhile.” He shut the drawer. “There are also some packages of underwear in there. Not exactly the silk and lace type of stuff, but I bet you can pull it off.”

Sienna’s face reddened and the glare she turned on him should’ve had the effect of a cold shower. Instead he found himself getting hard. Dammit, what was it about her that turned him on? She could be scrubbing toilets and he’d find it sexy. And this is why you’ve stayed away from her for the past six years.

“When are you going to tell me more about you guys?” she asked as she tucked back a strand of hair that had fallen free.

Before he could answer, his gaze caught on the flash of silver. He stepped forward and pulled her hand forward, circling her wrist with his fingers and touching the thin bracelet that lay there.

His chest tightened and he frowned, lifting his gaze to hers again. “You still have this?”

A pretty flush filled Sienna’s cheeks and her mouth tightened. “It went with the dress.” She tugged her wrist away and cleared her throat. “You didn’t answer my question.”

All thoughts of the bracelet and what it symbolized abandoned his mind and he bit back a sigh. “No, I didn’t and I don’t have time now. We’ll talk later.”

“Wow, that sounds a bit like déjà vu,” she mocked, her fists clenching and her mouth tightening. “How much later? I’ve been dragged to a safe house by men dressed up like G.I. Joe on crack. I mean, come on already, Warrick. I think I deserve an explanation.”

“You’ll get an explanation later, Sienna. And then I’ll get mine,” he warned her but felt no triumph when her face lost color at his warning. Turning he headed toward the door. “Because you will explain to me just how the hell you’re involved with this goddamned mess.”

An invitation to a friend’s wedding is a stark reminder of how meaningless his life has become. When he enters that church, there’s only one woman he wants on his arm—the one he walked out on a lifetime ago. But first he has to find her, even if all she accepts from him is an apology.

Kindergarten teacher Lauren Robbins once had what every woman on the planet desires. Nick. Their passion was explosive, their romance the stuff of songs…and it took fifteen years to get over him. Then out of the blue Nick turns up at her door, and all those years denying her ache for him are shattered with a single, smoldering kiss.

But molten passion can’t hide the secret she’s kept for all these years. Because it’s not just her heart on the line anymore…and not just her life that’ll be rocked by the revelation.

Interview with Nick Blackthorne

If you could choose only one song that showed the real you, which one would it be? Night Whispers. I wrote it at a point in my career when the whole world knew every minute of my life, when I could have anything I wanted, and everything I wanted, but realized the only thing I wanted I no longer had. It’s a song about acknowledging you’ve made mistakes. I’d messed up big time when I wrote it. It’s a raw look into my heart and soul that, despite all these years, hasn’t changed. When you screw up like I did, well, it’s hard to come back from that. Bloody hard.

What’s playing on your iPod? (laughs) Queen, always Queen, some Bon Jovi—I’ve been a Bon Jovi fan as long as I can remember, Bruno Mars’ newest album Doo-Wops and Hooligans, freaking amazing album that one. Wish I’d written Count on Me, it’s a fantastic song. Nickleback’s Here and Now, oh and fellow Aussie Gotye’s Making Mirrors.

What is the coolest thing you learned from being a musician? The coolest thing? How to dodge persistent groupies using a banana. I picked that little trick up from Bono. Or is that the weirdest? (laughs) Hmmm, how ‘bout how to play Stairway to Heaven on a hair comb wrapped in paper while hanging upside down? (laughs again) You spend a lotta time trying to entertain yourself when you’re on the road, man.

If you could write your own headstone what would it read? Known to sing in the shower. (laughs) Best question ever, by the way.

If a movie was to be made about your life, what would the title be and who would play you? Am I allowed to pick? I’m going with Johnny Depp. I know he’s not Australian but that guy can act. Seriously. I think he’d do a better job of being me than me. As for title? Am I showing my age if I say something stupid like Dude, Where’s My Guitar? (laughs)

What’s your favourite city to perform in? You’d think it’d be Sydney, given that I’m still a proud Aussie, wouldn’t you? But no, it’s this small town, Hurley in Wisconsin. I played there in ‘03. We were driving through when the tour bus broke down and my bodyguard and I ended up in a bar called The Krash Inn. It was having a karaoke night and before I knew it, I was singing Gotta Run on a small stage with one of the waitresses. By the time I’d finished singing I think the whole town was in that bar. I’ve never enjoyed myself singing as much as I did that night. It was laid-back, intimate and I made the sets up as I went along. I’d go back tomorrow. In fact, I think I might give my agent a call after this and see what I can arrange (laughs)

You sing a lot about love and broken hearts. Is there “one” who got away? (long pause) Yeah. There is. (another long pause) Remember when I said I’d messed up big time? When I wrote Night Whispers? (sigh) That’s the one. I’ll never forget her. Or forgive myself for letting her go. Ever.

Lena Richards’s whirlwind vacation to Europe with a friend is a welcome chance to shake her pre-wedding jitters—until she learns her high-school sweetheart is cheating on her, Hawaiian-style. Figuring all’s fair, she indulges in a fling of her own with a sexy New Yorker she meets in Amsterdam whose kiss blows her mind—and the lid off her hormones.

Tyler Bentz is wary that the petite bombshell, who only a short time ago insisted their one kiss must never happen again, has done a complete 180. His questions only make it clear she’s interested in probing of the sexual kind. Who is he to turn her down?

As they burn their way across Europe, something shifts, and it’s not just the earth moving with their exploding passion. Lena begins to realize what it really means to fall in love. And Tyler finds himself tumbling hard and fast.

Reality catches up with them in Paris, leaving Tyler to wonder if Lena’s really the one, or if he’s nothing more to her than a pawn in her game of revenge.

EXCERPT

What the hell kind of game did she think she was playing? Tyler watched Lena parade some love-struck looking guy onto the dance floor, and his hand clenched around the beer bottle so tight it almost snapped.

The woman next to him droned on and on about a man she knew in the United States, and maybe if Tyler might know him. Right. Because, after all, the United States was so small.

He hadn’t been able to shake her since the moment she approached. She’d been hitting on him in a not-so-subtle way, but he had done nothing to encourage her flirting. When she’d even been so bold as to reach out and stroke his shoulder, he’d shrugged off her hand and repeated that he’d come with someone else.

His gaze honed in on Lena and the other man on the dance floor. Was she jealous? Is that why she’d sought out another guy? It seemed the only plausible answer. And it didn’t please him.

He had no time for women who played games. His ex -fiancée had been a master at them, and now Lena pulled the same shit.

And the longer he watched her, the more certain he became that she was setting out to make him jealous.

Unfortunately, she was doing a damn good job of it.

Why the hell had she ever thought this was a good idea?

Lena groaned as Edward dragged her body against his. She gave him a tight smile and pressed her hands against his chest, trying to put some space between them.

He laughed but gave in and let her have her way.

A little more relieved, she glanced again toward Tyler. He still watched her with that cold gaze, but now seemed to be ignoring the woman.

Why didn’t he brush her off? Tell her to get lost?

Edward leaned forward and said something in her ear. Although she still couldn’t hear him, she smiled, just to give Tyler the impression she was having fun.

It worked a little too well. Tyler shook his head and stood up, striding out of the room.

Her stomach took a nosedive. Shit, you went way too far, girl.

She thrust away from Edward and took off after Tyler.

What on earth had she been doing? To provoke him like that? It all seemed too petty now. Especially when she watched the woman who’d been preying on him move on to another guy.

Not seeing him in the other room, she bolted out the door of the club. The frigid night air hit her lungs like a brick, and she took shallow gasps before hurrying down the sidewalks.

“Tyler?” she called out. Where had he gone? She hadn’t been that far behind him.

The only response was her echo in the dim streets. She spotted a man walking fast further on down the road, and she squinted, trying to see if it could be him.

“Lena.”

She spun toward the voice.

Edward stepped out of the shadows and gave her a quizzical look. “Why did you run out so quick?”

God, he’d followed her? She gave an irritated sigh and shook her head. “I have to go.”

He took another step toward her and placed a hand on her arm. “Hey, what’s the rush?”

“I really have to go.” She pulled her arm back, shuddering at the sleaziness of his touch. What on earth had possessed her to flirt with him? To deliberately try and make Tyler jealous? What was she, sixteen?

“Let me get you cab or something.”

Lena groaned. Maybe she should just take him up on that.

“That would be great. Thank—” She gasped as he gave her a violent shove into an alley. “Hey, what—”

Edward slammed her against the side of the brick building, and his hands closed around her throat.

Fear raced through her veins, and she gasped, reaching up to try and pry his fingers away.

Oh, God, why didn’t I take that self defense class with Stephanie last year?

Edward leaned close, fumes of his alcohol breath smothering her. “You Americans sure like to tease. Coming on to a bloke and then just walking away.”

The world of Theorrey runs like a well-oiled machine. The elements are in balance, passion is tamed and the young queen is the heartbeat of it all. But in these two all-new stories of elemental steam, nothing is ever as it seems…

Earthly Desires
Dare rushes to locate her, even though the search leads her straight into trouble.

A gentleman who trades in secrets and sin, Bodhan revels in carnal delights, but when a naked and bound woman appears on his shore, he finds his hunger to possess at odds with his need to protect.
Fiery Temptations
Seraphina always lands on her feet. After all, she is a Felidae-more feline than human-and an excellent thief.
There has never been a job Phina wouldn’t take or a man who could tame her…until she meets Cyrus Arendal.

As the Queen’s Sword, Cyrus should have known better than to fall victim to a beautiful bandit.

Now, to find and retrieve the moonfire dagger, he’ll need to convince Phina not to judge a man by his station,
but rather by how completely he can satisfy her desires.

“The first book in the Savage series by Stevens is off to a rockin’ start. Filled with intrigue and action it seems like the plot of a television series. It has a cast of characters guaranteed to cause a reaction — either annoyance or intrigue — and is sure to catch even the most cynical reader’s attention.” ~Romantic Times Magazine

“Sienna?”
