new paths

We all tread different paths, sometimes those paths converge with others we gell with, our spiritual kindred. Sometimes these contacts separate, our own route may twist & turn, leading into unfamiliar territory, confusing us as to direction. We spiritual/physical travelers in linear time may feel drawn towards a future unbidden, we feel lost, those around us are inevitably affected by our uncertainties, we can become alienated amidst our peers. Do not be dismayed or daunted by these pressures, they are only transitory & may provide lessons we must learn before progressing. If we can lift ourselves over these temporary obstacles, reach beyond 'This Moment' & tread through onto safer more familiar ground, we will find our paths once more converging with those we shine brightest amongst. This rejoining, this spiritual or physical re-union, is all the brighter & warmer because of the seperation & learning that has gone before. We & our soul sisters/brothers are strengthened & more equipped to deal with all possible futures, whatever they may hold in store for us. Love&Light

My son Ben & I are revamping the Web Site to make it a bit more user friendly, look out for a new interactive homepage & several new art folders, with links to other shemanic sites & other galleries & services.
I am DJing for a friends birthday on 13th Feb; then again on 6th March @ Town Mills pub in my local town, whiich my Grandfather was manager of when it was a working river powered flour mill & I was a toddler watching the fishes under the office staging. I also DJ @ a village Pub once a month, they seem too love the 'old fashioned' approach I have by playing 60/70s some 80s vinyl singles, with No Messin'. I love what I do, as a DJ, Collagist, Sculptor, Artist, 'Performer' & that is why I called my degree show 'My Life is my work is my art'.

How time flies, I am now 59 yet still think like I did in the 70's, I still revel in 60/70s music. Vinyl that's the thing, scratches & all. Love it! I DJ (old old school) @ a couple of local pubs, just expenses you understand, & really enjoy the vibe, though never would've thought I was a performance artist until my degree show in 2006 when I lived in my Installation & interacted with the public.
I would love the opportunity to combine the art show side with the DJ persona.

Now & Then I am a DJ of old vinyl singles of the 60's 70's & 80's. The eclectic classics that were part of my growing up. I do not play cheese but the cream. From Jackie Wilson to Jimmy Hendrix, Cream to Queen, Pentangle to Cat Stevens. I love GOOD music & really enjoy passing on that love to people in Pubs & Parties. I wont play anything that is a downer. The reactions I get uplift me.
& I get paid for it, what could be better <3 Love&Light.

I am trying to get started on a commissioned drawing @ the moment but getting sidetracked into halloween records for my gig @ the Plough Grateley on 30th Octcber. Looking foreward to Samhein clebrations @ Coed Hills Rural Artspace. Art For Sale is my message @ the moment, I have copies of my collages & some faces (Bob Marley + Amerindian Faces, Kate Moss) on card & paper, I have some originals in all mediums for sale @ the right price & to the right person :-) I am... available for commissions, people or pet portraits, I can put you in a surreal collage! I will decoupage murals for your walls. I can run Workshops. I am available for displays & shows. I love to promote my style & the environmental aspects of my collages. + DJ She Manic is also available for "Eclectic Mixes of 60-80's classics". on vinyl 45's. I have recently varnished several decoupage items including some of my vinyl record cases & furniture including a chest. I was an outsider artist for 30 years, recently graduated with B.A. (hons) in fine art sculpture. My speciality is a collaged environment. My Live-in Degree show piece was on Winchester School of Art front lawn for 3 weeks. It included my Bus, collaged caravan & festival Installation. My collage/painting style has been compared to Richard Dadd, Dali & Bosch....... for which I am very grateful.

Well, the BEST EVER Croissant Neuf Summer Party @ Usk last weekend was highlighted by a stunning performance by the Beat, who seemed to enjoy the gig as much as us. They will be back next year for CN 2010 & also to play CN @ Pilton 2010. I want to give my whole hearted support to Sally, Andy, Luke & the whole team who worked so hard to make it work, & to Henry for use of the land. May next year be full of more happy people & especially more locals. The arena looked stunning (with 1 blot) the craft area especially & I was surrounded by wonderful neighbours & visitors. The amazing Inner Ear Gong played central place in my art gallery & it was a delight to see the faces of adults as their children educated them to the mysteries of sound vibration. The weather was good to use in this beautiful spot in Monmouthshire. It was a delight to find the solitary compost loo after the turdis's were locked up on Tuesday morning ;-)

Well Glastonbury was Hot, Damn Hot (especially the Monday for tat down). Thanks to all the wonderful peoplle who dropped by She Manic Art Gallery in Croissant Neuf. Special thanks to Nick Wren for the video 'Steve Harrington-Ellsmore Artist' which is on youtube, facebook (she manic art) & soon on this web site. Buddhafield was wet&windy but beautiful all the same, especially the people... LOVE EM. Big Green Gathering didn't, reasons too complex for here... google it. Next is Croissant Neuf Summer Party in Usk... heres hopin for a warm dry week... & the Beat... Live! Love&Light.

Commissioned Collages

It was great to pose for this shot with Jill whom I have known for many years. The thrill of completing this commisioned collage to my own satisfaction and the delight and satisfaction of Rev; Jill Bentall & her 'flock', is overwhelming. A completely diferent feeling to my other collages which were done for myself & family whilst portraying human relationships with our environment in a surreal style. This commission piece has a surreal element in the background which is a symbolic collection of urns, bowls, platters, mats, houses, nets, loaves, wheat, corn, fruit, fish, bees, sheep, goats, cattle, camels, donkey & bird of prey. The gown of the resurected Christ is a collection of bakers aprons, priests gowns, bridal gowns, school shirts, sports shirts, from around the world. If you want a copy of this for your church or can persuade your church to commission their own... get in touch. I would welcome any reasonable requests for a collage of this standard.

Artist frames Jesus

She Manic Artist Steve Harrington-Ellsmore with the finished piece. I have just finished photographing & framing the Jesus Collage/Painting, should be on show in St; Thomas' Church, Charlton, on Sunday 12th for the 10.30am Easter service. The Rev; Jill Bentall & myself met the local press last week, the Advertiser & Radio Andover. Watch the press for Jill's press release. It only needs sanction from the Church Authorities before being accepted to hang in the church. Their Crucifix has been there for a 100 years. I am still gob smacked @ the news that it is to be 'dedicated' & blessed so it becomes a religious artifact. WOW! ♥

The Power of Light

Thanks to all who visited the exhibition @ Andover Museum or saw it & commented on line. It was a great success even reaching the Guardian Review.
I have finished the commisioned piece of Jesus 'The Power of light' which I was asked to do by Rev; Jill Bentall of Charlton Church, the painting & collaging process are detailed on my face book page 'She Manic Art' I hope to load up some more art on the web site soon.

I am the inspiration behind an exhibition currently running @ The Iron Age Museum's Art Space in Andover Hampshire. As reported in the Guardian Guide 16th January 2009 & the Andover Advertiser 30th January 2009, 'Altered Images is the culmination of an art project by artist Steve Harrington-Ellsmore, who worked with four groups of aspiring artists from the Enham Development Programme, teaching different collage techniques & inspiring individual creativity & expression.'
My thanks to Roma Nichol, arts & drama tutor @ Enham, for getting me involved, I was thrilled with the results of the art project, the work produced was excellent, each collage unique & beautifully made. I loved working with the groups & was proud to inspire such creativity.
The groups also worked together on a sculpture entitled 'Freedom of Spirit', a butterfly winged figure emerging from a cocoon, completely covered in images of butterflys & Birds and printed words.
The Exhibition is on till February 28th Tuesdays to Saturdays 10am-5pm, entry FREE! Please if you live near try & pop in. Or visit the page & photo album on Face Book. She Manic Art.
