Trip to SM Aura Premier - Beauty and Cosmetics Department

Like a kid in a candy store, my jaw dropped when I saw the classic interior of SM Aura Department Store at Bonifacio Global City. You see counters made up gold and depp mahony shades, modern counters and products that have their own devoted spaces and still the familiar looks that we have all come to love.

Consider me a happy girl because despite the fact I love practically all the malls in Manila, SM has it all. Fendi Eau Fraiche is one of those, whom invited me in the press launch of SM Aura Premier and of course, the unveiling of this new fresh scent from this global brand.

But I will talk about the lovely scent of Fendi Eau Fraiche in a separate blog post. Right now, let me show you the brands that I saw inside the new SM Aura Department Store, focuisng of course on beauty and cosmetics. :)

For a week, you'll see Fendi in front of the entrance to celebrate the new scent they have.. a girlier more feminine and light scent, Eau Fraiche.

The return of H2O, the science of marine skincare, which I was told was here in the Philippines in the 90's. Not surprised they didn't last that long considering that 90's wasn't really the best time to launch a products as innovative as this.

Classic brands such as Elizabeth Arden who has launch it's Visible Whitening Line. I love how the packaging contrasts with the deep chocolate brown counter. It made the products stand out and the luxury seems more apparent.

Germany-based brand, The Makeup Factory si also in SM Department Store. Their main branch in BHS now has a little sister! Better check out their liquid liner and brow mascara. They are amazing.

Mainstay Maybelline Cosmetics will always be present whenever a new beauty department store will arise. And I like the counter at SM Aura a lot more posh. It didn't look too crowded either, something I appreciate a lot.

BYS Cosmetics, an Australian-based cosmetic brand, also made SM Aura it's home. And looking at how nicely positioned their products are, SM made it a priority for it's customers to have better counter-experience.

Za Cosmetics is also back! Seeing as how numerous cosmetics are making it's way back to our counters show that we are indeed more open to enhancing our outer beauty and the brands are taking another chance. I love the new Za packaging and I can't wait to try more products from their line!

This one precisely. Their True White. I've tested it and it seems promising. The light texture and scent got me!

Men gets a chance to look and feel good, too. Products for men are also available in the beauty department of SM Aura Premier. LAB Series is one of them, a range of skin care devoted for our better halves. It's as good as our top of the line skin care!

I spotted Deborah Milano, an Italian-based cosmetic brand. I haven't tried any from their brand so I can't say much about it yet. :)

Like I said there are the familiar ones you'll see and that includes the shiny counter of Shiseido with their brand associates always looking so polished and almost like a flight attendant.

Other brands such as Revlon, Max Factor, Cover Girl, Etude House, Tony Moly etc. and of course more skincare and scents. :)

T. LeClerc Goyave Nail Lacquer | Cutest Summer Polish

Yes, it's another nail polish review. I'm rushing this one just before the ends becasue I gotta tell you that you have to get this now! Especially if you're in to rock the season with a bright coral shade of nails.

T. LeClerc is totally making me love them for the past few collection. There's the pin-up inspired Spring shades of Loved By You Collection and now with their Summer givings!

Goyave is French word for the Guava, the face of the fruit from which this polish is inspired from. T. LeClerc definitely hit the sweet zesty spot of this polish because it's making me think of cool drinks, bikinis and lounging when I'm wearing this polish.

The wear isn't so bad either once I sealed it with a clear top coat. As you can see it's so bright and shiny that I'm probably making you ooohhh and ahhhhh like I did once I had it on!

Putting polish is always a great excuse to play with colors. If you've been hesitant in trying on bold shades, try them first on your nails. It's a great way to take your neauty experimentation to the next level without having to compromise so much.

If you're into bright-colored, summer-inspired nail polish shades, then better grab this one. You'll love the coral shades that seems to fit so well this season. I sure am glad I did! :)

SoTrue Naturals Lavender and Oatmeal Castile Soap | Review

When Sample Room came out with natural and organic samples last Earth Day, I can't help but want to try them. I'm not as into natural and organic products, as you know, and I thought that sampling it first is a better idea than committing to the full size bars. After all, not all products that is organic and natural comes in a budget-friendly price.

So sample away I did the SoTrue Lavender Oatmeal Castile Soap and got them just right on time for my Boracay trip for the Smart Live All Out Event. For a sample bar, it was quite generous. Around 3 x 2 inches that lasted me the 3 days 2 nights trip.

I've been intrigued by the castile soaps since i found that it was a good alternative to shampoo or detergent for cleaning brushes that I now use as body wash. I use the Dr. Bronners Castile Liquid Soap which is mighty expensive but effective. Since I didn't have the time to search for alternatives, I settled for it until I found this soap on Sample Room.

And if was just as great, happy to report. I've read a few good reviews of So True Naturals and not surprised given that the brainchild, Ria is a devoted mom who wants to give only the best for her child. A real Soaperstar really. :)

Castile Soaps are saponified olive oil that effectively cleanses the body off of bacteria but doesn't strip off the body of its natural oils and rather moisturizes it better for smoother more supple skin. Unlike mass-produced soap that contains harsh ingredients, castile soaps are safer, less harsh alternative for the skin. Better for those with sensitive skin like babies or those who suffer from skin rashes and the likes.

Lavender Oatmeal Castile Soap seems to be weird combination but thinking about it, Lavender helps with inflammation while oatmeal is great ingredient for very sensitive skin and mild exfoliation for skin renewal. As a soap to use during a beach trip, it's probably the best as the lavender helps soothes the skin and makes for a more relaxing scent (great for getting a good night sleep) and the oatmeal helps with skin sensitivity like sunburn or sun rashes.

the scent was enough for me to want the full-size bar but seeing that the soap didn't melt as fast as other naturally made soap, I am now looking forward to my purchase!

Just in case you don't know, keep your castile soap in a well-ventilated room to avoid it melting and if you see it getting all smiley, just use your looofash or sponge to use it. Castile Soap tends to melt into a slimey substance when exposed to steam. :)

I also got the SoLuxe Peppermint Cinammon variant for Gentlemen but I'm planning to use it on myself. I'm not sure if SoTrue recommends it for female or baby skin but I hope it's okay. And I wish they have more variants to choose from and that they come out with a liquid form for cleaning makeup brushes and it's more handy for travelling.

Other than that, I think SoTrue Naturals is worth a try. :)

The Makeup Look: Coachella-Inspired

Although I'm not a concert-going person, one thing I love about going to these parties are the fashion and makeup.

So instead of partaking in the merriment (or rather the inevitab;e icky sweat and all-night standing up), I just chose to be inspired by the looks I've seen the moment I got the Revlon Photoready Primer and Shadow in Bohemian. Inspired by the modernized hippie looks of laces, tans and greens, Bohemian seems to be the perfect palette to use. :)

Let me talk about the texture of the palettes first. I've had a chance to try 3 shades and like most Revlon palettes, it's at par with high-end brands. It's pigmented and has impressive modern shades. Not at all chalky and powdery. Unfortunately I can't seem to get the primer part. I'm not sure if they mean it as a primer to help with the creasing or primer as awash or base to help bring out the colors. I think it's the latter.

Revlon suggests we wet the shadows to get more intensity. But given my experience with their former palette, it hasn't always pan out to be a good idea as the shadow hardens and makes it more difficult for me to use it.

So I used it as is, following the instructions they provided at the back of the palette. And I like the result. You can see the color pay-off well and for about Php895, it's not so bad. Bohemian make look a bit too shocking but if you're out to try something new you can definitely try this out. What I like is that even without the minty shadow, you can use this palette for every makeup look.

And they register well on cameras. Photoready indeed.

Summer Coolers | Beauty Edition

What are Summer Coolers?

Nope, it's not the bubble tea that we can't seem to get enough off. It's not our all-time favorite Sago't Gulaman or even my addiction, coke.

It's that beauty product or products that you depend on to give you that refreshing feeling whenever Manila's temperature choose to shoot up. I'm sure you have them, we beauty mavens sure do find the best products to not only make us look pretty but feel refreshed, too.

And for many years, I'm always on a lookout for beauty products that has a cooling factor to help my body (and my sanity!) to cope with the weather. And if you haven't found one yet, here are my picks this year.

Mustela Aqua di Colonia

I know I'm not a baby any longer but that doesn't mean we can't use their products. Sans the alcohol ingredient in this cologne, allows my skin to breathe better and using this all time doesn't asault the essense. The water helps with easing the heat my skin during the day. But mostly, I use this at night as the scent reminds me of younger days and lulls me to sleep more than any cologne I've tried.

Zenzest Peppermint Foot Spray

Trapped in closed shoes most days, my feet has craved the refreshing cooling feel this foot spray gives whenever I used it at the beginning and end of the day. It not only deodorizes my feet but ithe refreshing feel eases the stress I put on it for more than 9 hours.

Nivea Sun Protect and Refresh Cooling Mist

It's sunblock and mist in one! It's one of my ultimate Summer faves this year. Even when I'm not on the beach, this baby has found it's way a must-bring anywhere. Especially when I plan on lunching out. Walking down the streets of BGC is no joke and tanning is not an option. The cooling effect helps with scorching heat and of course the SPF50 helps protect me from the sun's harsh UVA and UVB.

Snoe Beauty Awesome Poresome Pore Minimizing Clarifying Tonic

I just love this toner that I bring it me whenever I vacay! It has cool feel that helps with putting up with this awful weather. Don't you just hate how your face feels icky and oily minutes after out in the sun? I do and I hate that. Especially when i need to wear makeup. This toner helps with easing that yucky since your face literally feels cool after applying it. And it's works at minimizing the look of pores. Something the heat tends to aggravates. So that's really a win-win for us, right?

V&M Bare It All Cream

I've tried a lot of lotions but during summer, I tend to stick to the minty variant to help me sleep well at night. I'm sure you can relate not wanting the feel of the sheet sticking to your skin at night and products like this has a way of easing the sweat from surfacing. And from all the minty lotions I've tried, Bare It All Cream has the lasting cooling effect and it helps with keeping the skin soft and smooth.

10 Ways To Be Happier In Your Home

Got this from Headed Somewhere, who got it from ApartmentTherapy.com. So now I'm sharing it with you. I'm not the happiest person alive but lately I'm starting be positive religiously. It's easy to feel all glum and nasty. Turn it into a ball and nurture it. But that don't do me any good. It makes me more cranky and I feel that it affects my body making me less beautiful.

Since everything starts in our home, here's some really awesome tips for us ladies that I think are very helpful in giving us a more positive vibe.. which in turn, will make our skin more radiant and looking young! Because I believe (naks! parang Ms. Universe), a happy heart makes us prettier. :)

1. Make your bed.The book The Happiness Project, explains that this three minute task is one of the simplest habits you can adopt to positively impact your happiness.

2. Bring every room back to “ready.”I learned this trick from Marilyn Paul’s clever book, It’s Hard to Make a Difference When You Can’t Find Your Keys. It’s a known fact: Clutter causes stress; order creates a haven from it. This mood-boosting routine is simple: Take about three minutes to bring each room back to “ready” before you depart it. (Unless you have a toddler, or a partner who likes to simulate earthquakes, three minutes should be sufficient.)

3. Display sentimental items around your home.One reason that experiences (and memories of those experiences) make us happier than material things is due to the entire cycle of enjoyment that experiences provide: planning the experience, looking forward to the experience, enjoying the experience, and then remembering the experience. Make your home a gallery of positive memories.

4. Start a one-line-a-day gratitude journal.Before bed, simply jot down one happy memory from that day. (If you have kids, you can ask them, “What was the best part of today?”) Reflection is an important part of happiness, and pausing to reflect on a positive event from each day cultivates gratitude. (An added bonus: Later, when your memory is defunct, you will already have all of your meaningful adventures recorded!) If you have trouble getting started with journaling, consider buying a book to guide you. Simple Abundance, by Sarah Ban Breathnach, is a great one.

5. If you can’t get out of it, get into it.This tip comes from The Happiness Project. I love the message: The dishes are not going to clean themselves, so you will do it, and you will like it! (Unless, of course, you can outsource this job, in which case I say: Nice work!) Otherwise, get into doing the dishes. Feel the soothing warm water on your hands. Enjoy the tickle of the tiny bubbles. Crank your favorite album at an unusually loud volume, do a couple fist-pumps while shouting “Can I get a hell yeah for the dishes? Hell! Yeah!” and pretend you love it.

6. Before you get up each morning, set an intent for the day.In The Art of Happiness, the Dali Lama says “”Every day, think as you wake up: today I am fortunate to be alive, I have a precious human life, I am not going to waste it.” Wow. What a wise man. I tend to wake up with a strong visceral reaction that says, “Attention human beings: Be afraid of me before coffee. Be very afraid!” Setting a daily intent makes a huge difference. Your daily intent could be something like “be productive” or “enjoy today’s delicious moments” or it could be something more specific like “say thank you to my loved ones today.” But it should not be another “to do” item on your list.

7. Do small favors for your housemates, expecting nothing in return (not even a thank you!).(That’s right, I said it: nothing!) Mow the lawn for your husband, but don’t expect him to pat you on the back. Make the bed for your wife, but don’t try to get bonus points for it. Take the trash out for your roommate, just because. The ability to cultivate strong, healthy relationships is one of the biggest contributors to health and happiness, but when you start to keep score, the benefit is lost. (No! It’s YOUR turn to clean up the dog poop!) It’s a well-known fact: When you do good, you feel good.

8. Call at least one friend or family member a day.You can do this while you clean, while you make the bed, or while you walk the dog. Texts and emails do not count! Make an actual phone call to a loved one, just to chat and catch up. We humans are social beings and studies show that even when we don’t feel like it, even if we are naturally introverted, socializing with our loved ones makes us feel better.

9. Spend money on things that cultivate experiences at home.Save money for a new grill for parties or a new DVD for family movie night — something that will encourage you to have people over and entertain. Plan a summer barbeque, invite your closest friends, kick back and relax. (And don’t forget to print out the pictures to remember the good times.)

10. Spend a few minutes each day connecting with something greater than yourself.Whatever your spiritual beliefs — or non-beliefs — may be, studies show that connecting to a high power is correlated with happiness. Just stepping back to realize that we are part of an enormous universe can put some perspective on your annoyance with the those-are-definitely-not-mine-and-they-are-abso-fricking-lutely-repulsive socks under the coffee table. Before bed, spend just a few minutes contemplating something larger than yourself. Take a walk in nature. Write in a journal. Create a sacred space in your home. (Or if spirituality is really not your thing, create a home spa: light some candles, soak in a hot bath, delve into a good book… are you feeling better yet?)

I'm thinking of creating my own list of how to be happy but i'm still experimenting. I will share them with once it's complete. For the meantime, happiness is just right around the corner. So stop sulking, pretty face and start giving yourself reason to smile!

Thinking that I can't pull it off. Like wearing this kind of ensemble and finally creating a look book of my own!

But as the proverbial beauty blogger that I am, I summoned the courage to try it but not forgetting that I need to protect my skin!

How to deal | Sibling Feuds

I don't have a sister. As you all know I'm an only child and it was not entirely a happy childhood. I was lonely for some of the time and the focus of my mom on me was worst than a micro lens. I always wished that I had someone to share my life with everyday.

In light of the recent events of the Barretto Feud, I got in touch with some close friends who have sisters and asked their thoughts on feuding with them. Of course, I won't disclose their real names.

But given the numerous incidents the Baretto sisters seem to have (along with other celebrity sisters), I thought I must have been better off.

How I Cook It: Butter Garlic Shrimp

Here's me sharing one of my favorite things to do... cooking. Somewhere inside this beauty-addicted girl is a Nigella Lawson wannabe. I remember watching a lot of cooking show back when I didn't know the difference between a cream or powder foundation.

Four years in of independence has allowed me to explore a little of being a domesticated goddess and trying some recipes that I've always enjoyed eating when I was young.

In the Gee household, mom was able to juggle her work as well as prepare delicious meals in time for dinner. During weekends, she had marinades waiting to be cooked and enjoyed by me and my dad. Mom was a great cook and I always have her as an inspiration whenever I find myself in front of the stove.

Last Friday, I had a craving for butter garlic shrimp and so I asked yaya to get me some prawns to cook the next morning. But 'lo and behold, she got the tiny tiny shrimps that made me think of shrimp sauce. Ron and I had to run to SM Hypermart just to get it! Good thing SM had fresh prawns swimming inside those grocery acquariums! They were so fresh, the tiny creatures were jumpring while we I yaya was deveining them.

But then again, that's how you want your seafood, fresh and alive just before cooking it! I used basic ingredients. I've cooked Butter Garlic Shrimp a number of times but since it's been awhile since I cooked it, I didn't trust myself to go bam! and pow! and just stuck to the usual.

That's margarine and butter, a bit of oil, oyster sauce, salt and pepper to taste, cayenne pepper for spice and minced garlic. I suggest using fresh garlic and not the powder version. I added a bit of basil leaves to make the taste a bit more sosyal. lol!

Ingredients:

1 Kilo of Medium-size shrimps

2 Whole Garlic (minced)

1/2 margarine

1/2 cup of Butter

4 tablespoon of olive oil (any type of oil)

5 tablespoon of oyster sauce

Salt and Pepper to taste

Dash of basil leaves or cilantro

Butter Garlic Shrimp is easy to cook. Believe me, if I can cook so can you! It's the deveining and mincing that will take you a bit of time. :) But it's worth it. The BF and I enjoyed this dish so much, we ate for over an hour! It's a great meal to over the weekend when you're resting, eating with your hands and enjoying a good film. This goes so well with a hot steaming rice or pandesal.

Jollibee MILO Mix-Ins | AWESOME SUMMER TREAT (CONTEST ALERT!)

The news could not be more timely! My ultimate favorite chef (sorry, it’s not Nigella Lawson, she comes a close second lang) The Great Anthony Bourdain just visited Jollibee in LA! And he got a taste of our sumptuous Halo-Halo! My heart swell when I saw how much he enjoyed Pinoy's ultimate dessert!

I’ve been here and there when it comes to food. Ate at expensive degustations, buffets at 5 star hotels, but the lure of Jollibee is just... what’s the word I’m looking.. ah! Irrestitable.

Growing up in city where fast food chains are in abundance, Jollibee has stood to become a holy grail. And I nearly tore my head off (or the cashier taking my order) when they told me that my favorite Swirly Bitz has been scratched off the list. Seriously? Are you kidding?

When I was offered the Jollibee MILO Mix-ins, I hesitated. But then again, remembering those hot afternoons during Summer vacation when I could down 2 glasses of iced-cold MILO drink, I said “Yes, i’ll get that instead.” Hoping against hope it had the same tasty crunchy coolness of Swirly Bitz. And it was! I thanked my lucky stars.

But the gods must have loved me more than I thought they do.. Jollibee added 2 more flavors in their soft served delight! Welcome MILO Mix-ins in Pretzel Crunch and Cookie Berry!

By the mere mention of Pretzel, it made me think of Swirly Bitz and prayed it tasted awesome. And it did! But so much better! The crunchiness of pretzel mixed in with the MILO and cream are like fireworks in my mouth! Cookie Berry, on the other hand, was a sweet tooth's dream. I am not a fruity person but the mix of cookie bits and berry syrup blended well together.

It's so good, I had to buy my each of BF's nephews and niece awhen we visited them this week! As expected, sugar rush at 8 in the evening! The kids loved the new MILO Mix-ins!

Today, nearly at my 30's, Jollibee desserts still has a way of bringing back awesome into my day. Especially in this hot humid climate. There's nothing more relaxing and cooling than the sweet taste of sundae in the form of the new Jollibee Sundae MILO Mix-ins!

Lining It Blue For Summer | Laura Mercier Cobalt Creme Eye Liner

To be honest, I feel like a newbie blogger right. now. I can't even begin to tell you how happy I am to have finally found a product I've been waiting/on-a-look-out for almost 5 years!

It's the elusive and incredibly sought after cobalt blue liner!

Of course, I've seen a few in my days but nothing really that impressed me that made me want to get it. I've tried some but most of them streak, transfer or didn't really provide enough control. I also tried the foil effect where I used multipurpose mineral eye shadows but those didn't stand a chance on my oily lids and the extreme heat of a regular tropical climate.

So I waited.. ever so patiently for that one brand to come with blue liner that will give me that bright blue line but won't necessarily cost me an arm and leg. One that would stay on same as my favorite black gel liner.

Of course, it had to be Laura Mercier who could give me that. An artiste with love for flawless beauty.. I can say she understood exactly what I needed when she launched her Folklore Spring/Summer 2013 collection with the Creme Liner in Cobalt.

It's the right blend of opacity, brightness and longevity. It's the ultimate liner for this season. Hence, we are....

I wasn't really surprised to see how good this product is given that Laura Mercier have been consistently providing me and my face great cosmetic products. What I didn't expect though is the incredible opacity! It's about 3.5g so you're getting a lot of product to last you all summer if not a whole year.

And don't even think of making excuses that it won't look good on your adorable eyes. It will! It did on my droppy eyelids and I don't regret it!

I can definitely see myself using this when I go to Boracay for vacay next week. It sure is going to be a fun 3 days rockin' a blue liner while walking along the soft white shore, sipping mojitos and enjoying the sun! Can't wait!

Tech Tuesday: Cute iPhone 5 Cases from BF's Parents

The BF's parents are here and they came bearing gifts not only for their children and grand children they also included me in the list. And what I got from the loveliest couple I know, are too cute for words! They got me a couple of pretty iPhone cases that totally shows off my personality.

First is a neon pink textured rubber phone case that reminds me of makes me think of sound proof walls like those in music studios. It's matte and glossy. The feel is matte but the cubic ridge lines are glossy. It's got a nice grip and it compliments the thinness of my iPhone 5.

This hologram hard case for iPhone 5 definitely has more personality than I do. And though I'm not a fan of hard plastic as casing, I just love the design. I haven't seen a hologram casing for iPhone and now I wonder why! It's super nice!

And a person who barely change her casing, I might just find myself rotating these two depending on my mood. Mood 1: if I'm happy or Mood 2: if I'm uber happy.

I'm really a hard person to give gifts, too. But I'm glad my future in-law's knows exactly what I want and what I would enjoy! :)

They also gave me a Sex and the City perfume that smells so good! :) Yes, they do know me well and I gotta thank my BF for that. :)

BYS Island Bronze Bronzing Makeup Kit | The Perfect Summer Palette

I have to confess, I'm a big fan of Summer. I love it! But tan is not a good color for me so I rely on makeup to give that sunkissed glow without having to exposed myself to the harsh UV rays. I just have to apologize the the looks here in this blog is almost the same.. always in neutral, bronzed up makeup colors.

While browsing the BYS counter at SM, I saw their Island Bronze collection and it totally intrigued me, they had a bronzing stick that totally reminds me of NARS Laguna, a spray tan in can and bronzing powders. But what got my attention is the Island Bronze Bronzing Makeup Kit.

It's got 6 warm and cool eyeshadows to match all kinds of skin tones, a warm pink blush, a bronzer and two lip gloss. It's got 3 pretty decent tools for when you travel.

I'm very much a palette girl. I like it when brands put together a set that helps with all the beauty decisions. After all, we don't all have 2 or 3 hours to prep in a day. Palettes like BYS Island Bronze Makeup Kit eases the frantic feeling we have every morning. Especially that the palette is also an everyday palette for golden skin toned ladies like us!

It's a regular useful palette, for sure. The texture is like any regular eyeshadow. A bit powdery but pigmented. It's light enough that it's great for everyday wear. The lip glosses aren't sticky and the bronze and blush compliment each other.

If you ask me it's an allyear round palette that is great for all skin. Skip the bronzer and stick to the mauve blush for when the season is colder.

Looking at the palette, it isn't much. But the look it gave me pays for prize itself. It's demure, it's simple and it suits me. Makeup are like clothes, you have to find one that fits you perfectly. But unlike clothes, makeup is easier to tailor fit. You don't need to wait for days to fit you, you don't even have to exercise. A little less here, a little less there and you'll love it!

Ah, Summer! It's the best season there is. And for ladies like me who loves getting all bronzed and and loving the sunkissed glow, this palette is perfect for you!

Chairo Pink is now The Purple Groom in Tiendesitas

Forgive for the late post but if you still don't know, Chairo Pink in Tiendesitas is now The Purple Groom. It seems that my favorite groomer is taking the hot spots in Tiendesitas and making quite a name. Which in my opinion, is just right since the more salons they open, the more dogs can care for.

The Purple Groom has been consistent when it comes to service of dog grooming, that is why I've always been a client since I tried them over 3 years ago. Watching their business grow only proves that consistency and dedication. The Purple Groom is owned by Jayme, a young man who inherited from his parents the love for animals and hard work. And I'm only too happy to share with you guys their success.

Why wouldn't I when they care for my dogs as much as I do and make them prettier every time we come for a visit.

Take a look at their new dog grooming salon, located at the west part of Pet Village at Tiendesitas, Frontera Verde, Pasig.

I used the Medicated Shampoo with Green Tea.

Cleo and Duke ready for bath! :) I got there a bit late in the day and as expected, there's a line. I usually stay at SM Hypermart since I can't stand the heat of Tiendesitas. Yes, I don't mind leaving my dogs alone in Purple Groom. They provide my pets with water and there is always air conditioning for them.

Groomers in The Purple Groom are courteous and respectful of what the pet owners want for their pets.

One of my favorite groomers is this guy, Aries. He does bear cut perfectly same Junior and Tata.

Given that my pets are rowdy and very makulit, groomers in Purple Groom knows how to make them behave without being overly abusive.

That day, a group of foreigners who organizes dog shows approached me and adored my Duke and his cut. :)

Bobbi Brown Extra Hand Cream | All we need is a helping hand

Don't we all want to make a difference in someone else's life even just a little? Often times though, we find ourselves stopping, doubting if we "dare to help" when we ourselves are pretty much helpless. It's such a typical Filipino attitude to feel sorry for ourselves instead of looking to others and see that we do have more than what we need. That giving back isn't so bad.

I'm guilty of that. I am truly. Perhaps that's the reason why I try to engage this blog in a few giveaways. It's a part of me that wants to give back even just a little, even if the things I giveaway are just simple things that doesn't necessarily change someone's life.

This year is full of challenges for me. A lot of errors have been made and I'd like to believe that I have learned from them. Being on the other side of the fence, I am lucky to have friends and family who continuously lend a helping hand in form of moral support and plain being there for me when the going gets tough. I'm also lucky to always have this blog to help me ease tension and transport me to serene place when ever I sit down and write about a product I find interesting.

Someone told me once that my blog helped them a lot... A mom's friend from elementary days even uses one of my tutorials to practice an everyday makeup look. That touched me a great deal. Who would have thought that a woman like me could help out someone by just writing a few things about a makeup or a look?

But surprisingly, I did. It goes to show that no small things, the good things, go unnoticed. What's important is to always just try and think of others once in awhile. And so know, I continue what I have started and provide you guys with a little bit of help.

I've had the Bobbi Brown Extra Hand Cream for a month now. To be honest, a regular girl like me can do away with a hand cream. Then, I started noticing that my hands are getting a lot drier and blistery. Especially now that I'm getting into nail art and using nail polish remover more than before. I forgot how fragile the hands can get and I just forgot about them.

With the many products that we get to check out, you gotta give it to Bobbi Brown to make an unnecessary product, necessary. Because this tube haven't left my bag since I opened it last week. I'm not sure if it's the scent of shea butter and clary sage or the softness it has given my hands but there's something here.

What to love about Bobbi Brown Extra Hand Cream:

Instant thirst of the skin quenched
Helps soften dry cuticles
Lessens the feel of callouses
Whitening (thanks to the licorice extract)
Easy to bring along everywhere
Ergonomic packaging

To be honest, I hate the feel of hand creams. I like the long term effects but I'm not a fan of having my jittery hands sticky. Thank God, Extra Hand isn't! It absorbs quickly which is a plus. I hate getting products on to my stuff, especially my laptop! Don't you?

Although it doesn't come cheap, Bobbi Brown hand cream is the best hand cream I've tried. And believe me when I say that this is definitely one of the best out there. Worth a couple of thousands that you might have to pay for. The scent is relaxing, the texture is luxurious and it truly cares for the hands.

I'm not gonna bore you with the ingredient list, I suggest that you visit a Bobbi Brown counter and try it for yourself. One quick tip, use only a peanut size (see photo below), that's enough to cover both hands and you'll instantly feel the effect already.

Belo Whitening Anti-Perspirant Deodorant | The Beauty Deo

My underarms have got to be one of my body insecurities. Unlike other girls, I’m not confident with baring my kili-kili for the entire world to see. Why, you ask?

I have ruined my underarms like Lindsey Lohan did to her career. I made some bad choices when I was young. I didn't listen to my mom that I needed to get my underarms waxed instead of shaving it. I also used strong deodorants that reacted badly to my skin. The sad result, it’s slightly darker than it should be… It’s not exactly dark or brownish, but it definitely doesn't deserve a Belo billboard ad in EDSA.

Now that I’m equipped with better knowledge when it comes to beauty, I decided to take care of this skin woe. First, I decided to undergo laser hair removal treatment. I also use lighter fabrics to reduce skin trauma and make sure to gently exfoliate the underarms once a week.

And of course, I now choose a deo that doesn't cause skin darkening or those that contains strong ingredients that irritate my skin.

Case in point is the new Belo Essentials Whitening Anti-Perspirant Deodorant that I started using just last week.

Having tried their whitening soap, I had high hopes for this specific product. What I’m trying now is the deo spray. It’s actually my preferred type of deo because it reduces the contact on the skin. Less contact, less friction, lesser skin trauma. It’s so much easier to apply and can act as a fire-y weapon, too. LOL! Spray also, I noticed, gives better and longer protection from perspiration. Something less to worry about this Summer.

My underarm looks lighter. Not yet worthy of its own ad, but given that Belo Essentials Whitening Anti-Antiperspirant has high concentration of Kojic Acid and Gigawhite, I feel a bit more confident wearing sleeveless clothes more than ever!

In just four days, my underarms are noticeably smoother and less irritated after a long day of work or exercise. Must be because of the Chamomile Extract in the ingredients that’s known to calm the skin. And hold it! It promises to minimize the pores and lighten the look of the underarm. How cool is that?

When I saw the new BYS Matte Lipsticks (Php299), I fell head over heels!All the colors are gorgeous and I wanted them all. And so I worked hard and patiently waited for to collect them all. But once I had them, I just had to try them all and they did not disappoint!

BYS expended their matte collection with two additional nudes in Latte To Go and Biscuit Barrel. Added 3 more pink lipstick. Pales one like Pink before You Speak and I Don't Pink So. A semi-bright pink lippie in Disco Inferno. Peach and Orange tone lippies, Day Dreamer, Damsel in Distress and Fury. And included 2 more red lipstick in Reddy Set Go and Celebrity Status.

First impression was it definitely reminded me a lot of MAC Cosmetics. Biscuit Barrel reminded me of MAC Half and Half. I Don't Pink So looks so much like Pink Nouveau, Pink Before You Speak like Chatterbox. Fury is similar to Morange, Day Dreamer is a peach pink tone same as Ravishing, and Damsel In Distress like Vegas Bolt. Reddy Set Go is a shade close to MAC Ruby Woo while Celebrity Status can be compared to Red and Dubonet.

Texture-wise, it's matte and it's love. Yes, mattes do tend to be drier than other lipsticks and can cause your lips to chap but nothing you can't solve to be able to rock these fab shades! Just remember to apply a lip balm before swiping on a matte lipstick and keep your body hydrated. Pigmentation is the reason to love matte lipsticks and how it instantly accentuates the lips.

In my opinion, you can never go wrong with a matte lipsticks. It's love! For swatches, read on!

Did I mention that Summer is my favorite season?

But I hate how hot it is this time of the year! I gotta give it to a lot of beauty brands who are making such great products and making the heat a lot more bearable!

Benefit Cosmetics Fake Up Crease Control Hydrating Concealer: Definitely the next big thing that happened to the under eyes. After all, who wouldn't want an undereye concealer that doesn't crease and accentuate the fine lines around your eyes? It's skin care and makeup in one so this is definitely something that you'll love this summer! Say buh-bye to creasing and hello to bright eyes all season long.
BYS Glitter For Nails Polish Kit: OMG! This has got to be my favorite polish this season! Once I tried it, I was hooked. It was launched last week but I got a chance to sample it a week in advance and it's easy to use! It comes with a polish, a pot of cosmetic-grade glitter and a brush. Texture 3D nails are in and BYS just made it more accessible for us to try it. Woot! The best shade this season is Bling it On, it's bright as the noon day sun!
Shu Uemura UV Underbase Mouse with SPF30 PA++: This has been a ultimate favorite of mine since I tried it 3 years ago. If you hate piling on products on your face during Summer, then get this one since it acts as both base and sunblock. it dries into a semi-matte finish. Once topped off with a matte powder, you'll notice how smooth and even your skin's become. I've been using this the past days just so I can skip my foundation and I'm loving the coverage. Expensive, yes. But totally worth it!
Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Serum: The latest innovation from Chez Lauder. It's an amazing addition to your nightly rituals.Sun exposure, pollution and overall unhealthy lifestyle can be bad for the skin. Especially to our eyes. If you've been partying or working too hard and your eye creams can only do so much, try this one out. Use this first before your eye cream and notice a good change in your puffy undereyes.

What they got here this time is a sunscreen/makeup in one that I think is a genius. Texture is smooth, finish matte and it does a great job evening out the skin tone. If you're the type to avoid sunscreen coz it ruins your makeup, this one is for you. It is for me!
