-Dreamy blue fog
-The way otherworld transitions
-The bathroom otherworld transition scene is straight out of the movie
-Pyramid Head
-Pyramid Head is fallowed by roaches
-Nurses appearance
-The fact that nurses are attracted/brought to life to/by the light
-Smog looks like it moves in a fashion which is more similar to the movie-strayjacket, then the laying figure in SH2 or strayjacket in SHO
-The red lighting in otherworld
-The general appearance of the otherworld
-Ashes falling from the sky
-The Grand Hotel
-The fact that you have to rip through the painting the grand hotel to go further
-A cop character that is hostile at first, but helps you out later
-Judge’s outfit looks like it came straight from the Rose’s back (use google)
-Joshua may possibly have a "dark" version of himself like Alessa did (use google, and you'll see a "zombie" looking Joshua)
-Dahlia? (( http://ps3.ign.com/articles/891/891388p1.html) if it is her, she seems to regret "the way things worked out" meaning that her attitude is more similar to her movie names-sake)
-Possibility that the cult kidnapped Joshua
-Bug-monsters (five bucks says that they have human faces)
-Lurkers look a lot like the Janitor
-The "Welcome to Silent Hill" Sign (Thank you Mondo for pointing it out)

Do you see any more? I think that this is more then enough, don’t you?

I agree that it’s okay if they make some references from the movie, as well as take some inspirations from it, but this is just plain wrong.

We translated all four words on the outer circle but one. Alizer.

I remembered that thread from years ago, probably 2005 or 2006, on an old account.

I was playing Persona 3: FES and I saw a persona named Flauros and another called Samael and I started researching them again.

And I found it.

I know what "Alizer" on the Halo means.

It's a misspelled word.

On the Wiki for Samael it tells when he has been written about.

Here's a direct quote:

Quote:

Yalkut I, 110 of the Talmud speaks of Samael as Esau's guardian angel. In Sotah 10b, Samael is Edom's guardian angel, and in the Sayings of Rabbi Eliezer, he is charged with being the one who tempted Eve, then seduced and impregnated her with Cain. Though some sources identify Gadreel as the angel that seduced Eve, other Hebrew scholars say that it was Samael who tempted Eve in the guise of the Serpent. Samael is also sometimes identified as being the angelic antagonist who wrestled with Jacob, and also the angel who held back the arm of Abraham as he was about to sacrifice his son.

I think we need to do more research into this Rabbi Eliezer.

I mean, Alizer? Eliezer? Too close to be a coincidence. They're pronounced the same and everything.

Rabbi Eliezer's full name is Eliezer ben Hurcanus. I don't know much else because I don't understand anything on his Wiki page because I'm not familiar with all of the terms they use, but I think we've found something here.

When you climb through a dark skanky wall and find a male mannequin staring at you with clawed hands, then as you turn around loads appear behind you, then if you turn to leave the room and turn back again there’s loads more staring at you through the door way.. i thought that was very creepy!

i think it's the first person view when you're not expecting it gives it the extra shudder factor.

Anyway, this is a quick Giant Gulper Eel concept. It's looking a bit jaggy and blurry in some areas because I haven't bothered refining anything. The Gulper Eel will swallow almost anything, even if the prey is the same size, so I added a size comparison as well. :P
You can see the whole pic without having to scroll here:
The Dyatlov Pass Accident refers to an incident that resulted in the death of nine ski hikers in the northern Ural mountains. The incident happened on the night of February 2, 1959 on the east shoulder of the mountain Kholat Syakhl (Холат Сяхл) (a Mansi name, meaning Mountain of the Dead). The mountain pass (N61°45'17", E59°27'46") where the accident occurred has been named Dyatlov Pass (Перевал Дятлова) after the group's leader, Igor Dyatlov (Игорь Дятлов).

The mysterious circumstances of the hikers' deaths have inspired much speculation. Investigations of the deaths suggest that the hikers tore open their tent from within, departing barefoot in heavy snow; while the corpses show no signs of struggle, one victim had a fractured skull, two had broken ribs, and one was missing her tongue. The victims' clothing contained high levels of radiation. Soviet investigators determined only that "a compelling unknown force" had caused the deaths, barring entry to the area for years thereafter. The causes of the accident remain unclear.

I've been trying to vector something in PhotoShop CS2, but the hang-up I'm having now has been my hang-up for quite some time:

Getting skin color right. I click on the (unposterized) picture for color reference but it never turns out right. I was wondering if someone knew a website that gives skin color "examples" on vectoring.

...Or maybe a good vectoring tutorial in general, whether it's for Adobe Illustrator or Adobe PhotoShop. Those I've looked for have been mostly "blah" and are usually consistent of "Yea, just do that thing 80 million times of a step I didn't explain so well in the first place. Yea."

I've been wondering lately how to find the proper balance in making a SH game. While every game contains numerous facts and hints about the town and the events of its history, I mean specifically how to balance the central storyline elements (most prevalent in SH, SH3) with the individualized psychological elements (most prevalent in SH2, SH4, SH0).

SH and SH3 are easily identified as pertaining to the main storyline of the series. SH2 started the individual psychology torment angle aside from that of the main storyline's players. SH4 expanded on it by breaking off a small piece of side information in the SH story and expanding on it greatly. In 0rigins we see an effort to combine both central story and outside mental anguish with mixed success.

So how should SH:H be approached? Or any future game for that matter?

I've seen some different opinion, and to an extent concern, on future games following the "formula" so to speak, of SH2. Character has tragic backstory, explained through torturous mental journey, conclusion confronting the past, etc. That "formula" can only go so far before it feels just like that, formulaic. So how do we proceed? Where do we go from here? Are there more stories to pull out of SH that can add to the main story or at the very least not disrupt it? Can there be an individual psychological journey that leads through Silent Hill without being a clone of SH2? I wish I had answers to these questions and maybe can get a better idea once I hear all of yours. Feel free to add any and all opinions about where/how the series should be directed.

(Note: I know we're talking about the series future here but best effort to avoid Homecoming spoilers would be appreciated, thanks. :vv:)

I just got back from a weekend trip with friends to Mineral King (just outside of Sequoia), California. Lots of fun! Really pretty scenery around there. Head over to my MySpace page and check out a small sample of the pics I took.

Also, I took a small video from atop Eagle Lake.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZgmM6...bg/default.jpg

To prove that I'm not wussing out (lol), our resort site has an altitude of about 8,000 feet. Eagle Lake is about 10,000 ft. For a first hike, I'd say the amount I hiked is pretty good!
