On 17th August`2014, Krishna Janmashtami was celebrated with great pomp and joy at the Sai Baba Temple in Shirdi. On this occasion, a statue of Lord Krishna was placed in a decorated silver cradle, as a sign of wishing the Lord on his birthday. At 12:00 am, a special arati was performed to mark the birth of Lord Krishna. Then, on 18th August`2014, before the Dhup Arati, the breaking of the Dahi-Handi event was performed and many devotees participated in it & broke the Dahi Handi. And at around 09:00pm, Baba's palanquin procession was taken out together with lord Krishna's Idol placed in it.

Walkathon ~ Chennai To Shirdi

On 27th July`2014,
a group of 13 Sai Baba devotees from Chennai walked all the way to Shirdi with "Sai Baba’s palanquin". On their arrival in Shirdi they were given a warm welcome by the Shri Saibaba Sansthan Trust, who congratulated them for their 31-day feat.

This is not for the first time for this group to make the 1650 km long Walkathon from Chennai to Shirdi. To invoke the blessings of Sai Baba, they have been walking the same since the past 4 years and every year they carry Sai Baba’s palanquin as a mark of their devotion for Baba.“Next year, we wish to bring Sai Baba’s chariot”, the Sai Walkers’ leader said.

The group used to walk 50 kilometres every day and they covered the 1650 km distance between Chennai and Shirdi in 31-days. After leaving Chennai, they took “Sai Darshan” at Sai temple in Mailapur, and later paid their obeisance at Pattipulam Sai temple which is 70 Km from their origin. Here the Temple President K. V. Ramani felicitated every one of the Sai walkers with Tulsi garland, and wished them ‘a happy, comfortable, walk ahead’.

Ramani kept in touch the ‘walkers’ throughout their march inquiring about their health.

This group of the Walkathon visited Tirupati and Pandharpur enroute. At Tirupati, they invoked the blessings of Balaji. And at Pandharpur, the Sai Walkers had Darshan of Shri Vithhal.

On arrival in Shirdi, they said “Saibaba is the great Saint of this era. We experience his existence and presence every day. We must pray from the depths of our heart to be heard”

Hindu Saint Apex Body Bows Down @ Shirdi - Shirdi Sai Baba Sansthan News

On Friday 18th July`2014, following Swaroopanand's statement to ban Sai worship,a delegation from the
apex body of Hindu Saints including saints from Akhil Bhartiya Akhara Parishad & Akhil Bhartiya Sant Samiti visited Sai Baba temple at Shirdi to closely inspect the procedures followed at the temple.

The 7-member delegation led by National Spokesman of the Aakhada Parishad Baba Hathyogi (Ramdal)and comprised of Durga Das, Narayan Das, Swami Chinmyanand, Swami Kalyan Dev,Swami Pramod Krishna and Narayan Giri visited Shirdi. They also have planned to meet disciples of Sai Baba across India, as well as from other countries and would know their views on this controversial issues.

The group witnessed the 'Dhup Arati' at the temple and visited other nearby temples in the vicinity inclding Dwarkamai and Chavadi, before declaring that there is nothing wrong with people worshiping Baba.

All India Akhada Parishad said that remarks of Dwarka Peeth Shankaracharya Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati against Sai Baba are "baseless" and that he was only misleading people by his statements.

Urging the followers of Sai Baba to ignore the comments made by the Shankaracharya, Baba Hathyogi, national spokesperson of the Parishad said, "The statements (of Swami Swaroopanand) are baseless and confusing. He is not an authority on the entire Hindu religion and at the age of 90, Swami Swaroopanand,as adage goes, becomes 'naughty' hence his comments should not be taken seriously.

Former chairman of Shri Sai Baba Sansthan Trust Shri.Jayant Sasane had organised a tour of sadhus, mahants of Haridwar and New Delhi to Shirdi.

"All of us will meet the Shankaracharya soon and request him to withdraw his statements about Sai Baba. We will also invite him to Shirdi," Pradip Krishnam of New Delhi's Kalki Peeth said.

The Peethadheeshwar of Sri Kalki Dham Acharya Pramod Krishnam, said that "It is good that Muslims too visit the Shirdi temple to pay homage adding that Sai worship is not against Sanatana Dharma."

22 ft ‪Shirdi Sai Baba Idol @ Vizag -

The Shirdi Sai Baba Temple at Shipyard Colony, near Malkapuram in Visakhapatnam`Andhra Pradesh, on the occasion of the festival of Guru Poornima 2014, installed a 22-feet tall Shirdi Sai Baba Idol near the entrance of the Sai Baba temple.

This temple's marble Idol of Sai Baba was installed on Vijaya-Dasami day in 1974 and is a replica of the Idol of Baba installed at the Shirdi temple and 40 years later this 22 feet Idol, made of cement was installed, which again is similar to the Idol installed at Shirdi's 'Shri Sai Prasadalaya'. The Idol depicts Sai Baba serving food to the devotees. The Idol’s height is 18 feet and it is installed on a 4-feet high pedestal.

On 09th June`2014, Shri.Kundan Sonwane took charge as the Deputy Executive Officer of Shirdi Sansthan. On the first day itself, when he visited the Sai Temple, he found Water-bottles in the Darshan Queue. He took serious note of this & gave orders for action against 5 security guards in the Queue and 8 female security guards of the Temple.

On 19th Jun`2014, implementing the orders after a whooping 9 days,the Contractor on the instructions of Labour Department sent the related employees to home for 8 days by verbal orders. Also 6 permanent employees were giving a "show cause" notice.

Under the leadership of the Indian Prime Minister Shri.Narendra Modi, the Government has plans to develop a 100 new 'smart cities' across India. Under the same approach, the Shiv Sena's Shirdi MP, Shri.Sadashiv Lokhande has too planned to develop Shirdi into a new, systematic & well planned city.

Shri.Sadashiv Lokhande, after winning the Lok Sabha Polls`2014 from Shirdi with 5,32,936 votes, took his Oath in the name of Shirdi Sai Baba during the Swearing-in Ceremony of the 16th Lok Sabha MPs. On 15th June`2014, Shri.Lokhande commenced his duties as Shirdi's MP with a meeting with the Shirdi Sai Baba Sansthan Trustees in their conference room.

In this meeting Shri.Kundan Sonwane was also present, who on 12th June`2014, has been appointed the new Executive Officer of the Shirdi Sansthan Trust in place of Shri.Ajay More. Shri.Sonwane has also been appointed as the District Officer of Shirdi.

Also present in this meeting were the heads of various departments of the Shirdi Sansthan including the Sansthan's Deputy Executive Officer Shri.Appasaheb Shinde, Tehsildar Shri Subhash Dalvi, Chief Officer Mr. Dhairyashil Jadhav, Shirdi's BJP President Shri.Rajendra Gondkar, Shiv Sena's Head of District, Shri.Kamalakar Kote, Shri.Sachin Kote, Shri.Sanjay Shinde, Shri.Nitin Kapse etc.

Shri.Sadashiv Lokhande discussed the problems with the officials faced in-respect to their department. Plans and assurances given by Shri.Lokhande at the meeting:

1) The "Arrest Water, Percolate Water" plan and an assurance to get funds from the Central Govt.
2) The Shirdi Sansthan had sent a proposal to the Government to make permanent all the contractual workers employed in the Sansthan since 2005. Instead of that, Shri.Lokhande asked the Sansthan to send a proposal for the 2300 workers affected by the Railway project upto the year 2007.

3) Transferring the land of the Shirdi Sansthan to the Nagar-Panchayat for solving the issue of 376 houses.

4) Holding a committee meeting under the Chairmanship of the Chief Minister of Maharashtra for speeding up the works for the Sai Baba's Samadhi's centenary year celebrations.

5) The proposal for bringing water directly from the Dam's through pipeline to Shirdi for which Shri.Lokhande has discussed the matter with the Water Supply Minister Shri.Dilip Sopal.

Shri.Lokhande also gave orders for the following:

1) To construct roads of Concrete Paver blocks in Shirdi, instead of cement ones.
2) To immediately start the building work on the Talathi Office, which has been long delayed & hence has become a hub for criminals.
3) To send the proposal for enhancing the capacity of the Substation in the city.
4) To repair all the roads within 3 days, that have been dug in the city for laying cables, and if not done, then the Nagar Panchayat should register a case at the Police Station.
Finally, Shri.Kamalakar Kote & Shri.Rajendra Gondkar said to include Shri.Lokhande also not only in the Sai Baba Sansthan Managing committee but also in the committee to be formed under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister for the Sai Baba's Samadhi's centenarian year Celebrations, so that funds can be received from the Central Government.

On 29th May`2014, a Chennai-based Sai devotee K. V. Ramani donated Eicher made 5-buses worth
Rs.66 lakhs to Shri Saibaba Sansthan Trust at Shirdi. Ramani donated these 5-buses so that the walking efforts and time of the devotees could be saved. He has already spent Rs.110 crores for constructing the Sai Ashram and handing it over to Shri Saibaba Sansthan Trust and is also working as a consultant for Sai-Tech project of Sai Sansthan since last three years without taking any remuneration.

The Madhya Pradesh Government is planning to make low cost boarding and lodging facilities in 12 different pilgrimages around India including Shirdi. Fitted with all the basic amenities, these facilities will have 10 rooms and 2 big Halls each and will be able to accommodate 200 people at one time.

1) 26th April`2014 - The Maharashtra Govt is trying to introduce subsidized air connectivity from Juhu aerodrome to tier II and III cities in the state including SHIRDI. If the project gets implemented, it will be the first time that the government would subsidize up to 7 seats to promote air connectivity. Senior government employees and bureaucrats might use these seats for official travel. Supreme Aviation will operate two nine-seater Cessna Caravan aircraft (non-schedule) daily from Juhu. It will also cover cities like Amravati, Aurangabad, Nanded, Solapur, Ratnagiri, Karad, and Kolhapur. There will be night halts at Jalgaon and Kolhapur.

The 3-day Ram-Janmotsav festival in Shirdi was started in 1911 by Baba himself. Since then, it is being celebrated with lot of fervor & gaiety by lakhs of devotees who come to Shirdi from across the world.

On this occasion, more than 150 Palki Procession's of Baba reached Shirdi with scores of Padayatri's chanting Baba's name to the beats of the drums as they walked all the way to Shirdi from various parts of Maharashtra. Some devotees danced the raditional Maharashtrian Dindi Dance, and some came Cycling all the way from Haridwar`Uttarakhand carrying the holy water of Ganges for the Jal-Abhishek of Sai Baba to be done on Ram Navami Day. This Haridwar to Shirdi Cycle Yatra has been going on since the last 11 years. All the padayatris were served Snacks & Water / Sharbat all along the way by various people of the villages they crossed through.

Shirdi Sai Baba (unknown – 15th Oct`1918) in Maharashtra`India and Bhagawan Nityananda of Ganeshpuri`Maharashtra, India (about 1897 - 08th Aug`1961) both were great Avadhutas. Both of them did not preach but their life was itself preaching. Both were most of the time silent and through their silence they brought about transformation. And when they did speak, it was more of a spontaneous and not an organized speech.

On Sunday, 03rd November 2013, Diwali celebrations began in Shirdi, with Lakshmi Pooja performed in the evening @ Sai Baba's Samadhi Shrine. The Samadhi Mandir was beautifully decorated with flowers. Old and Young, Sai Devotees participated in thousands for the Deepotsav and lit thousands of Diya's (Oil Lamps) near Lendi Garden. Some arranged the lit Diya's in the form of 'Omkara', some as 'Swastika' while some wrote Baba's name with them.

From Sunday 06th October`2013, the Northern Railways will operate Bi-weekly Kalka-Chandigarh-Shirdi Superfast Express trains via New Delhi. This Bi-weekly Express will Depart from Kalka every Thursday & Sunday and Arrive @ Shirdi the next day (Friday & Monday respectively). ANTI-TERRORIST SQUAD FINDS HUGE GAPS IN SHIRDI SECURITY SHRINE

On Thursday 10th Oct`2013,

A 3-member Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) team checked the security arrangements at the Shirdi Shrine and found the Sai Temple Security was lax. The ATS officials managed to enter the Temple Premises by Gate No.1 with a bomb-like object wrapped in a carton because there was no proper checking done by the plainclothes officials at the gates.

Coins worth Rs 1.5 lakh & other items were found in a defunct well in Shirdi, which was said to be used by Sai Baba. The coins and other items offered by devotees, were recovered during cleaning of the well in Lendi Baug area. Shri Saibaba Sansthan Trust had undertaken the task of removing sediments to make the well fit for drawing water and overcome the severe water shortage it was facing, as the pond supplying water to the temple had dried up. Also, supply from Nashik's Darna dam was often irregular, leading to shortage of drinking water for the devotees visiting Shirdi.

1) If you recall, some time back I had posted an article of the World's First Flower Reprocessing Machine @ Lodhi Road Sai Baba Temple`New Delhi.But, now its come to my knowledge that since almost a month the Temple Authorities have stopped operating this Machine and thus almost around 14000 kg of used flowers have been deprived from being reprocessed for good ! One can imagine how much loss it can be for the environment if this machine is not put to use, now that they have it. So, just wanted to ask if any devotee has any idea as to why the Lodhi Road Sai Temple Authorities have stopped using this Machine or when are they going to re-start operating it.
2) Shirdi Sansthan got a new CEO and Dy.CEO on 27th Sept`2013.
* Shri Ajay More - SDO, Shrirampur has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of Shirdi Sansthan in place of Shri.Kishore More who completed his term on 31st July`2013
* Shri. Appasaheb Shinde - Tahsildar, Rahata has been appointed as the new Deputy Executive Officer of Shirdi Sansthan in place of Dr.Yashwant Rao Mane who completed his term on 17th Sept`2013.
3) Atal Indore City Transport Service Limited (AICTSL) will soon start Volvo bus service between Indore - Shirdi. The tender process has been completed. The board has approved names of the operators for the route.
4) Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) has opened a tourist information center in Delhi's Hotel Janpath & Hyderabad to tap the foreign tourists for Shirdi and other tourist spots in Maharashtra. Information like various destinations, connectivity routes, information on MTDC resorts, booking status will be available through these centers. It now plans to open such centers in Lucknow and Tirupati in the near future.
