The Season 2 Finale

Let regular life resume. Season 2 is complete and that means I don't have to spend all of my free moments editing/ going crazy because something is wrong with or missing from the footage/ wishing I had a million dollars to make every aspect of THE SERIES what I'd like it to be... Soon.

We'd like to thank the entire ShittyFab Team for working with us on Season 2. All of you who watched and helped spread the word about THE SERIES, thanks to you as well. We are proud to say we produce an award winning series after receiving recognition at the 2012 LA WEB FEST for some of our shenanigans in Season 1 - the theme song to be exact. A little Audacity goes a long way...can't wait to see what type of recognition Season 2 will have.

I already recognize it as a labor of love. I'm proud of it!

We will be back with Season 3.

Well I didn't(I know I'm rare)... but now I do watch it! Why? Because my GIIRRRLL and classmate is playing Dawn Chambers. You know Dawn, Don's secretary...anyway shout out to the too fabulous Teyonah Parris for integrating the office. I hope to see lots of her this season and if they are wise they'll bring Ms. Parris back for the next season... my fingers are crossed here and the prayers are going up...

Racism is alive! Stupidity is potent! I know neither statement is news to anyone but when I get alerts that idiots are posting comments on our videos I have to pause, acknowledge the idiocy, wonder a little about change and of course write a post.

This morning I had several email alerts saying that comments had been posted on a few of our videos. "Great," I thought. I love comments, we love comments. Comments mean people are watching. Well that love for comments disappeared after I read the first one.

The third one

"whu mixed people acting black huh?! smh"

All from the same ignorant user. Perhaps he/she/it wanted to inspire a blog post. Done. I don't know if that was the motive for sure but I know that after reading the third comment I stopped reading them and removed them all because that was the only action that made sense.

Initially I wanted to reply and let him/her/it have it with a tongue lashing via my keyboard. I mean really? Have you nothing better to do "blckggg?" That's the person's username. blckggg. Are you going to leave comments on every single video? I'll just remove your absurd remarks that reflect your self hate... and thanks for the view.

I Miss Things

When my lunch cookie crumbled...

With simple choices lives are being altered.

Politics, the lack of humanity and having to take a stand have been on my mind. These are heavy topics and issues that need to be discussed. In the middle of all this heaviness, today, I found myself out for a walk, and then sitting at lunch with things that seem irrelevant in comparison running through this head of mine.

At first I missed the person. That passed.

Today, I found myself admitting that I miss things.

Buttering bread, putting mayonnaise on the side because that's what he liked, the extra large everything because regular sized anything would be too small, being forced to keep my word because I said it out loud, unplanned dates, not having to wonder who my date would be, debating until I could be nothing but silent, choosing the opposite side just to be in opposition, the difference. I miss the difference coupled with the togetherness... the experience of sharing moments.

I had no idea that you could miss experience and not miss a person. In my mind the other person was the relationship.

As I thought about the phone call I would have to make to my mom later this day(the one where I say something like, "Mommy my life is great, I am blessed and today I feel so ugghhh...")- I knew she would ask me to articulate, in complete sentences, what I was feeling.

So I sat there thinking. Complete sentences came. I miss sharing experiences in a particularly intimate way that can only come when you are actively in uncensored relation to another human being. I miss the ease of focusing on somebody else because it helps me not focus on myself. I miss my run-on sentences being loved.

Lunch was over and I started walking again. I had to yell at myself (in my head) after a few steps. Those sentences are so wordy. What don't you want to say?

I miss being in a relationship.

When I said that aloud (in my head) I almost died. Why was I so ashamed to admit that to myself? Why the guilt? Why do I think I should only be focused on the happenings of the world and not the very simple desires I have?

I find myself in a weird place this Saturday afternoon. Signing petitions, drafting plans, fixing plans, adjusting schedules, learning sides, painting pictures(in my mind), getting ready for tonight's show, and feeling guilty because my problems aren't really problems; they aren't even issues...

When I call my mom I think she will probably laugh at me, which will make me laugh at myself ... wait, I'm already laughing...

Ismene

This photo was taken backstage just before "Ismene" enters having made the decision to die with her sister Antigone. Sounds morbid right? Yep, it's a tragedy but I am having a great time working with everyone at Quintessence Theatre Group in Philadelphia on this production of Anouilh's ANTIGONE. The cast is wonderful. We share lots of laughs and leave the drama on the stage.

A lot of people wonder what happens to Ismene after she runs off in pursuit of her sister... I wonder what production I'll be doing next... and I hope the theatre lets me purchase the dress I'm wearing in the photo...

Back On The Book

Rememebr when facebook deleted our page last week? I was so against setting up a new one. I was against it because (in my mind) it was going to be a lot of work and mostly because I was annoyed.

I'm over those feelings. It only takes a couple of clicks (especially when a dear friend sets it up for you) and there is no time like the present to start fresh.

Stress Eating

I pride myself on eating clean... okay eating clean 90% of the time.

Then there are times when I decidedly use stress as an excuse to eat what I want. See this week's menu below(if you look at an item on the list and think it isn't bad - please know that in one sitting I ate the portion size that 5 grown men should eat).

My body has changed in one week.

Has anyone noticed the date on this post? It's only Thursday. The week that I keep mentioning isn't even over.

I have been too busy to go to the gym in the last 3 weeks and I had to have assistance to zip up my costume last night. I am literally shaking my head right now.

Now that I have blog-fessed (confessed) I am putting the fork down... Hope I get in that costume tonight. A Spanx can only do so much...

Will do better today. It's back to good healthy eating, I must work out tonight and in the words of Whitley Gilbert- I will, "RELAX, RELATE, RELEASE!

IF I HAD IT IN ME

So here I am about to post some exciting news on my facebook page when I get a message saying that my account has been disabled. WHAT IN THE WORLD!!!

First someone hacks our MinDog & Metch pag after hacking MinDog's personal facebook account and then they idable mine and send me the following email:

Your account has been disabled for violating the Facebook Terms. We have determined that your profile does not authentically represent you, which violates our policies. According to our policies, your profile:

• Must list your real name and date of birth

• Cannot impersonate anyone or anything (for example, profiles created to represent celebrities, pets, ideas, or inanimate objects)

• May not be used to contact strangers for business or dating purposes

Facebook is a community where people connect and share with friends using their real identities. Claiming to be someone else, creating multiple accounts, or falsely representing an organization undermines the trust and safety of the community.

I can't with facebook. I really CAN NOT! After being on the site for years my account has now been disabled and a hacker has taken over our facebook page. GREAT!!!

I really think it may be time to end this relationship... except that may not be an option... UGH!!!

If I had it in me I would launch a campaign.

UPDATE: The powers that be over at facebook reactivated my personal page. Now all I want are the MinDog & Metch page and the gWeiChi page returned. Fingers crossed and hoping...

Facebook IS KILLING ME RIGHT NOW

Someone hacked into the MinDog & Metch facebook page. They posted over 30 pictures of their stupid sneakers. Okay fine, if I was a hacker I would go around hacking pages with tens of thousands of likes and/or fans. If I was a hacker I wouldn't hack a page with 67 likes and/or fans. What sense does that make?

67 isn't a lot but since we aren't famous basketball players, movie stars, a chain store or coupon sharing mamas it took a long time and lots of effort to get those 67 likes and/or fans. We were beginning to build!!! Dare I say we were on the verge of having 70 likes... a milestone here at ShittyFab headquarters.

Am I annoyed with the dumb hacker? HECK YEAH!!! More annoying than the dumb hacker is facebook's help department. Apparently there is no way for us to get the page back. More than annoying!!! Why doesn't facebook have a forum or something to help users in this type of situation? This only happens thousands of times a day.

My true love for facebook never existed but now any inkling of love, like even, that I may have had for the social media giant has been turned to dust.

KILLING ME! FACEBOOK IS KILLING ME RIGHT NOW!!!

UPDATE: A while after posting this I got facebook to remove the photos that were added by the silly hacker/spammer . That's a start... now to reclaim the page...

A BANG

A bang that's fireworks worthy... This is what the new year started with- A BANG!

Or should I say a blast right into business? There is so much to do and so much to tell...

We are twenty days into the year and I feel like it's already 2013. It should at least be February considering all we've had to accomplish in the world of Shitty Fabulousness...

In twenty days this is what I have learned:

Being self taught is so overrated- every time I turn around I need to learn something new because if I don't I'll have to pay someone to do it and you can't pay anyone when you don't have money so it's best to teach yourself and pray for the best... but ugh contracts... it's best not to be self taught in that area...
Lawyers exist for a reason
Becoming legal can make one feel as if you could be/ should be locked up at any moment
Doing business with friends is better than people say it is. When I get cranky I don't have to pretend I'm not... energy saved when you don't have to pretend
I am so tired of fuschia but I can't seem to let it go
Get people to sign on the dotted line ASAP
Budgets are never correct, I mean even ones that are revised 10 times
It is possible to do 9284.3 things all at the same time
Smiling is not overrated

2012 is already showing itself for what it is! FRUITFUL.

That's exactly how we feel...

Happy New Year! Looking forward to all that 2012 will bring and all that we will get to share with you... I think we might be feeling change... as in we might be making a few changes very soon. Stay tuned.

Things Mommy Said/Says

Many have heard the phrase, "I brought you into this world and I'll take you out." Maybe your mom or dad said it. Maybe you remember when Bill Cosby said it to Theo in the clip below (one of my all time favorite episodes).

Today, after hearing a parent say that phrase to her misbehaving child I got to thinking about all the unintentionally funny things my mom said to me in my younger years... and now even.

Oh, how my mom loved to turn things into people or parts of people; it was usually my father and occasionally a cousin. Her own grand form of personification.

Once when she saw me litter she said, "if you don't pick up your father's nose..." I never littered again.

When I forgot to put my books away she said, "Gwei, come here and put your father's backside in its place." Didn't leave a book out for years.

When I would cry starvation in an attempt to get her to buy me outside food before we got home she'd ask, "are you really that hungry?" "Yes," I'd reply. "You'll be just fine. You have enough adipose tissue to sustain you for decades." The first time she said that I found my face in a dictionary reading about adipose tissue. My mom had effectively played me.

Mommy had a knack for playing me and fooling me too. Every time she asked if I was really that hungry I would think when I said yes she was going to give in and get me a Happy Meal. That never happened. And every time she mentioned adipose tissue and made me wait to eat a home cooked meal I thought I was being punished. Didn't know how good I had it...

When I would forget to close a door she'd ask, "did you mean to leave your father's mouth open?"

That woman is funny.

As a child I want was my favorite phrase. Still is. I want so many things...

Every time I would ask my mom for something if her answer was no I would say, "but I want it." Her response was always, "lucky for you, you're old enough for your wants not to hurt." Hmmm... I still don't know how I feel about that one.
