This week has been long and tiring but definitely eventful. I got a lot of planning done for the Teen Project, which I’m super excited about. I’m also super excited that Brandon at D.Coop is donating this beautiful print to the project. It’s such an amazing and powerful piece, and I have the perfect spot for it. I can’t wait to show you where. But in the mean time if you love this piece as much as I do, then I’m happy to announce that Brandon just happens to be having a giveaway you can enter here. The giveaway ends on the 3rd of February so make sure to enter soon. I shall be back on Monday with a DIY art post. It's a really fun and simple project that anyone can do. Who's there? A fun new way to organize. Thanks to the Knock Knock company, filing and organizing has never been more fun. Their filing folders say everything I feel when it comes to paperwork. It's still early in the year so I haven't kicked the organizing bug yet. But I'm hoping that with these hilarious and functional tools I'll be cured of my organizational problems forever {hoping is the key word here}...Happy Filing Everyone!

P.S. If you have a library full of romances like I do, then this kit will come in handy. ;)

The Teen Project

I am very excited to announce that I will be working with several other designers on a new Teen Project located in Venice. The owner, Lauri Burns (who is such an amazing woman and her story is incredible *check out the website for her journey in life) is venturing into her second Teen Project facility in Venice Beach. The facility will be a drop in center for teens to find a meal, get some shelter for a few hours, meet with a therapist or find a place to sleep for the night. Any contribution you can give to this project will be greatly appreciated.

We are looking for donations of MODERN furniture pieces: Colorful pieces are fine and mid century like Eames, Bruer Sarrinen Danish are great too!

Pieces we need:
Lounge Chairs
Reception chairs
Desk Chairs
HUGE modern sectional
Modern desks (steel or wood)
Lamps (floor and table)
Large modern art pieces
Large modern cabinets
File cabinets
Knoll, Sunbrella or super durable fabric

Are you ready to tango with Tangerine? Pantone has announced that the 2012 color of the year is Tangerine Tango. This is a very sexy and spicy color that should be used in moderation. Pops of this color placed sporadically throughout your home can definitely add to your decor and mood. So are you willing to give this bold color a try? I think I'm a week late in welcoming the New Year but like they say "better late than never". With that being said I think it's time to "try" to get organized in the new year. I'm sure many of us keep saying the same thing, as evident by the number of articles about "how to get organized in 2012" that keep popping up every time we open a web page. But I'm really going to try to get organized this year...I really am! This past weekend I was inspired by Sarah Jones' post on organizing for the new year. The Erin Condren Life Planner she mentioned has me thinking I can really do this. With a few well placed tabs and the motto "A place for everything so everything can return to it's place" constantly in my head, then I'm sure 2012 will be the year I get organized...I hope...Happy New Year Everyone!

P.S. As you can see by this post, "air quotes" have become my new thing. The sad part is that I'm really doing air quotes as I type this up....Please don't judge me =)

On The 2nd Day Of Christmas

My true love gave to me, Two Turtle Doves. In this case, two Chocolate Peppermint Turtle Doves. Here is another recipe from the cookie exchange. This one is from my friend Amie who is apparently BFF (best friends forever) with Betty Crocker. Very fun and festive recipe for the holiday season...Happy Christmas Eve Everyone!

Chocolate Peppermint Turtle Doves:

Ingredients:
1 ½ Cups powdered sugar
1 Cup butter, softened
1 Teaspoon Vanilla
1 Egg
1 Teaspoon baking soda
1 Teaspoon cream of tartar
2 ½ Cups all-purpose flour
½ Cup baking cocoa
1 Teaspoon mint extract
Green food coloring, about 5 drops

Mix powdered sugar, butter, vanilla, and egg in large bowl about five minutes. Stir baking soda, cream of tartar and ONLY 2 cups of flour. Divide dough in half. To 1^st half mix in cocoa, set aside. To 2^nd half add remaining ½ cup flour, mint, and food coloring. Dough will be soft, so you may need to refrigerate (1/2 to 2 hours). Roll together a handful of each dough on lightly floured surface then cut into desired shape. Bake 7-8 minutes at 375 degrees F (though my old stove took closer to 10 minutes).

DIY: Recipe Cards

I'm not really sure how much of a DIY project this is since Walmart did most of the work {insert big smile here}. If you are looking for something to give your guest at your next event {ie cookie exchange, tea party} why not try a personalized recipe card. You can share one of your favorite recipes whether it's for cookies, food or cocktails. All I did was upload my picture to the Walmart photo center, picked a blank postcard, then added the info to the back. The trickiest part is saying everything you want to with only 450 characters. I think they turned out great and I can't wait to do some more. My only advice would be to place your order two weeks before your event since Walmart took forever to get my order to me. The post cards were only .84 cents each which is a pretty good deal. I hope you guys try this project because I know your friends and family will love them. The past few weeks have been very busy around here. Is it just me or do the holidays tend to sneak up on you? This pass weekend we had our 3rd annual cookie exchange and I must say it was our best year ever. I have a couple of cookie recipes I'm going to post this week and a cute, yet simple DIY project for your guest. First I wanted to share what might be the cutest hostess gift I've ever received. For those of you who say it doesn't pay to retweet on twitter I'm here to prove you wrong. I won these fabulous pillows from COCOCOZY all because of a simple retweet. These beautiful pillows arrived yesterday and I promise {always late on these} to take pictures once I figure out where to put them. I'm thinking about redecorating our 2nd bedroom with these as a focal point but that will have to wait as I'm still trying to convince my Hubby to let me paint our living room green...Happy Decorating Everyone!

The first of December is right around the corner which means it's time for me to get serious about my Christmas wish list. At the top of the list I try to add the items I lust after but are a bit too expensive. At the top of the list this year is the mosaique au 24 collection by hermès.
