I’ve been on hiatus unwell for the past little while, but I’m going to be bringing the shoe love once more.  So many fabulous shoes, so little time!  I have so many favourites to share, and a new pair of awesome vegan boots on my feet as we speak.  Stay tuned…

If you find yourself in Ottawa, the Canadian War Museum has a neat exhibition on right now called Camouflage: from Battlefield to Catwalk, running until January 3, 2010.

“The innovative exhibition Camouflage traces the colourful history of military camouflage over the last century, from the simple concealment of soldiers and objects to the use of camouflage-inspired designs in a wide range of commercial and artistic products. This extensive exhibition shows how the art of military concealment and deception is a product of human imagination, artistic skill and scientific ingenuity, and how designs, applications and effectiveness have varied greatly over time.”

The ads feature this awesome pink cammo shoe: “Philip Treacy for Gina Couture, 2003; material inspired by Andy Warhol’s Camouflage series C.” My army friend was pretty floored to see a massive pink shoe plastered on the windows of a room full of tanks, lol.  If only the troops could battle it out on the catwalk instead of the battlefield.  Walk-off!

Now here’s a good idea for those flappy strapless shoes that don’t seem to want to stick to your feet.  These clear plastic HeelStraps will help prevent any shoe-flinging and give you a hope in hell of actually running for the bus.   I must confess, I own almost zero strapless shoes for precisely the reasons that these straps were invented.  Heels aside, I have a pair of slip-on flats that will randomly kick off while I’m trying to walk, or my heel will slide off the back.  Drives me nuts, not to mention that I must look a bit odd hobbling around trying to figure out how to grip them with my feet.  Anyhow, I think these neat straps are only for heels so I’m outta luck on the flats, but if I ever fall in love with a beautiful pair of strapless heels, I’ll know where to go for backup!

I kind of love these “Funtasma Witch” shoes.  They’d be awesome for Halloween costumes, and they’re just over $30.  The ones pictured are patent, but they also come in black PU.

VeganChic is having another sale right now, up to 40% off until tomorrow (Sunday June 7).  I’ve resisted these two pairs (and many others!) for months now, but finally cracked today and ordered them.  I know, I know, I said I wouldn’t buy anymore shoes…but what can I say…relapse is a normal part of recovery?

…and these cool silver and red retro/futurist peep-toe heels, “Kiwi by Neuaura“, which are totally just for fun!  Clearly not the most “practical” of shoes, but they do look pretty comfy.  I just love the colours and the shape and the lines, love them!

I just realized that both of these pairs of shoes are made by Neuaura.  I’ve never tried their shoes before so I’m looking forward to it.  Always love finding new companies making great vegan shoes.

Okay, clearly I spend entirely too much time on Etsy.  But how fabulous is this silver stiletto bootie shoe necklace??  Love it!  Etsy artist ANORIGINALJEWELRY says it was inspired by her “never ending obsession with the sexy silhouettes of Christian Louboutin shoes.”  She definitely nailed it in this piece.  Gorgeous!  Let’s see how long I can restrain myself from ordering it…

How gorgeous are these boots?  The Cri de Coeur Alexa vegan boot in “desert sand canvas with midnight black accents” sports an open toe, cutouts on each side, and a super cool zipper.  This made-in-Europe beauty is currently on pre-order over at Nimli, an eco-friendly retailer with a great website that identifies products with little icons for vegan, sustainable, natural, handmade, recycled, organic, and made in the USA, etc.

If you’re into DIY, fire up your crochet hook and hit up hollanddesigns’s shop on Etsy to get a pattern for these super cute flower petal mary jane slippers.  Love them!  They’re identified as “easy/intermediate” level, so maybe even I can do them! (err, that is, after I finally finish the scarf I’ve been knitting since February…)

The pattern sells for $4 US and she has a bunch of other patterns for many other cute slippers too!

I’m undecided about these Yves Saint Laurent cage boots.  I can’t decide if I want to wear them or grow zuchinni plants up them.  They’re architecturally interesting, odd looking but neat.  But they look uncomfortable as hell!  Every one of those little squares is an opportunity to collect a nice chaffing little blister.  And the $1400 price tag is definitely out of my range.  But I concede that these could be pretty awesomely rocked with the right outfit and the right legs and feet.
