Silence & Noise Strong Shoulder Dress

I’m loving the big and structured shoulders of this dress by Silence & Noise. Reviews say the dress fits like a glove and hugs in all the right places. It’s reasonably priced at $58 but I’m a bit concerned that the material looks a bit flimsy and cheap. The dress comes in black, purple and gray. I can’t decide which color to get! Maybe one in black and another in gray? I’ll most likely wear this as a tunic and if it’s not too short, with tights and boots. Available at Urban Outfitters.

I Got a Stella for Gap Band Jacket… For Myself!

The Stella McCartney collection for Gap is so cute I just had to have something. Since these are for kids only, I thought of getting one for me in the largest kids size (14-16/XXL). I’m sure I’m not the only one who thought of this! I did a charge send from the Santa Monica store on Wilshire & 20th because the darned stores near me only carried baby to toddler sizes. The girl who was helping me on the phone was about the same size (0-2/XS) and height (petite) as me and she tried on the jacket for reference. She said it fit a bit snug in the arms. I hope it’ll fit! If not, I can always return it (unlike the Halloween costume I bought on Halloween Day that I never wore). And yes, I had to call around several stores because this jacket is sold out in other stores. (And yeah, I checked out the Alexander Wang sale on Gilt but did not get anything.)

Update: It fits! It’s ever so slightly snug in the chest area but otherwise it fits. The shoulder width, arm hole and sleeve length are perfect! No alterations needed.

New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2010: Narciso Rodriguez

Narciso Rodriguez strayed away from the structured look that he’s presented in seasons past and opted for a more fluid look that comfortably hugged the female form for Spring 2010 at Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week. His signature structure was still apparent through interesting details, including mesh cut-outs as well as pleats and gathers and contrasting colors. A seriously sophisticated color palette of blacks, whites and nude neutrals were complimented with iridescent eggplant purples, dusty reds and grey tones.

The collection overall felt like a minimalist revival punched up by daring billows of fabric, transparent details and modern trends such as a bubble mini, asymmetry, and innovative prints and tailoring. Simple, looser fit dresses showed nonchalant luxury while slightly exaggerated silhouettes and lots of legs gave his collection a more edgy vibe.

Anteprima Hello Kitty Wirebag

Sorry for the lack of posts. I just came back from a much needed vacation in Oahu. While there, I spotted this cute Hello Kitty wirebag from the Anteprima store in the Royal Hawaiian Center. It’s not my style but being that Anteprima doesn’t have stores in mainland USA, I was quite curious about their Wirebag.

According to Anteprima, Wirebag is “hand-knitted by skilled craftsman using exclusive wire from Italy. The contrast of techy material versus handmade craftsmanship created a harmonious chemistry for such glittering effect. Another characteristics of Wirebag is the stretchable and flexible bag shape which can be shaped or resume to original.”

The Hello Kitty bags are limited edition and exclusive to the Oahu stores (I believe that is what the SA told me) and are encrusted with Swarovski crystals. The ‘Brillante Kitty’ Boston type wirebag in Nero Opaco (black) is $868 (small) and $2210 (large). The Orogento (gold) bag is priced at $961 (small).

Fashion’s Night Out T-Shirt

Fashion’s Night Out is a global initiative to promote retail, restore consumer confidence, and celebrate fashion. U.S. and international editions of Vogue are coordinating evening extravaganzas in their respective world fashion capitals.

A Fashion’s Night Out t-shirt commissioned specially for New York City is on sale for $30 (short sleeve) and $35 (long sleeve). Made of super soft pima cotton jersey, the short sleeve roundneck t-shirt has a graphic print at front and back. Forty percent of the proceeds from the sale of the Fashion’s Night Out T-shirt will be donated by the retailers to the National September 11 Memorial & Museum at the World Trade Center.

I’ll be on vacation next week and won’t be in New York so I got a short sleeve t-shirt at Gilt.com. I wore it the other day with black shorts and piled on vintage looking necklaces. I got an XS and it fits loose on my not so skinny (as you can see) frame. The U.K. version appears to be cut better (love the trompe-l’œil necklace design too).
