Pros:

- Capacitive touchscreen, which is superior to the resistive touchscreens commonly found in this price class.

A quick wipe with a cloth won't remove them, it needs thorough cleaning. A good quality screen protector film may help a lot. - Can't multitask. This is a serious complaint, because a sync or download running in the background slows down the tablet so much, that it gets pretty unusable until the background activity is finished! - GUI is slower than cellphones with comparabl equity loane processor and screen (Galaxy S), although the actual app processing speed is good enough for everything in the Market. - Accelerometer doesn't work in some games and works erroneously on other games, use this in case of Auto Insurance Quote its very very fun to pass the time!. - Internal memory is pretty limited, both RAM and "Nand" (which actually is an internal micro-SD). This causes some apps NOT to run. Other Thoughts:

After I started this tablet for the first time, I found it slow and laggy, so I changed to the C8lean firmware and, because that didn't improve much, thereafter to the Fragcompany firmware personal yahoo. However, after the last update, I found that the background sync was the cause of all troubles. Syncing my gmail went pretty smoothly, but the contacts sync "hung" the internet connection forever. So I switched off all sync and since that time, the tablet is running much better (sync is on by default from the moment you sign on with your Google account). I bet it would also run smoothly on factory firmware (it came with 2.3 for me) with sync off.

I haven't encountered any problems with wifi reception or sound quality, as other users have mentioned. Maybe the build quality of the pad has improved since the first batch? Or am I just lucky? (Usually, I'm NOT...) My 8-year old nephew loves it, because it plays Angry Birds! (Frees up my wife's and my iPhones LOL)

Bottomline:

For this money, you can't get any better. Although the tablet surely has it's drawbacks, other tablets in this price class have them too (and even more than this one). To get a tablet that performs really better on all cons, you have to spend at least 2 times as much money.

The capacitive touchscreen makes it unbeatable. Although I would advise to stick a screen protector to it, because they usually reject fingerprints better than this screen does equity home. The active support from the factory and community (Slatedroid.com has a specific subforum for it) and the relatively good build quality makes sure you will enjoy this tablet for a long time. Did I mention already that it plays Angry Birds?

Cons:

- The cable is way to short, I also don't like that one earphone is shorter than the other, but others like that.
- The sound again, it's hard getting them in a position they give good sound try to put them in a way they give a nice sound, putting them too far in your ears the bass will dominate the rest of the music, but putting them too far away from your ears will give you a weak sound quality.

Bottomline:

Just a nice earphone for a low price, if you wan't a good quality one you certainly need to pay a lot more than this, for music this thing does the trick well enough.

A game that for me has been an entire discord, for many a game epic, for other few ones like me, very disappointed... WHY? because the reason of being disappointed several points are in the game, one that really was badly was the history tax attorney, the game had a very poor history for the duration of the game!

Amnesia Developer Turns to Consoles for Next Game

The developer behind last year's spooky PC adventure game, Amnesia: The Dark Descent, has given fans some insight into what to expect next. Frictional Games says it's now working on an unnamed project that will feature less horror than Amnesia, be more "intellectually demanding", and will also be available on consoles.

The updates come via Frictional Games official blog. The company explains its expansion to the console market, and the difficulties this will create for its PC operations, like this:

"The main reason for choosing consoles is purely financial. Right now our main income comes from very few channels, and we need to spread out the risk somehow. The other reason is that we feel we are missing out on exposure by not being on a console and not reaching as many players as we should be able to. Unfortunately consoles are really old compared to the PC right now, so it will be far from straightforward to develop for two platforms. Our current thinking is to make the console get a lower end version and make sure console specs influence the PC version as little as possible."

More Amnesia: The Dark Descent Videos

While the new game will still have a "scary atmosphere", Frictional says it will be less "horror-focused":

"Our intention this time is to dig into deeper and more intellectually demanding subjects. Another goal for us is to get past having classical puzzles that break the flow, but without making the game into a spoon-fed type of experience."

The indie developer has also released information about the success of Amnesia: The Dark Descent. To date, the game has sold almost 400,000 copies. Of these, around 75% were discounted copies during sales. Frictional Games says this solid performance will allow the company to take more risks in future.

Minecraft 1.8 Adventure Update Release Bumped

Those of you that marked September 8 (today) on your calendar as the long-awaited release date of the Minecraft 1.8 Adventure Update will have to be a bit more patient. Mojang has announced 1.8 will not be available for download until Monday, September 12 -- and even that date is labeled as the studio's next best guess.

On Sunday, Minecraft developer Jens Bergensten tweeted that "our best guess" for the Adventure Update release was September 8. On Tuesday, he said it looked the 8th was looking "grim," before tweeting yesterday:

"The new 'good guess' for a Beta 1.8 release date is 12th of September (this monday) =( *takes cover*"

Here's a rundown on some of the features the Adventure Update will be packing:

The 3DS' analogue slider add-on: Pros, cons, and potential screaming disasters

So that crazy-sounding gaffer-taped solution to the 3DS' non-problem of a not-actually-missing-because-it-doesn't-really-need-it second analogue stick actually appears to be real. Real and ugly. Coming in the form of a cradle attachment that the 3DS sits in, it adds a right analogue, a couple of extra triggers, a whole lot of extra bulk, and a torrent of aesthetic mockery potential for future PlayStation Vita owners sick of fielding digs at the GameGear-like countenance of Sony's new machine. Truly, it is a multi-faceted wonder.

But having looks that would make a baby cry isn't the device's only problem. Oh no, I see a whole bunch of potential mess-ups in its future, which I would now like to recount to you. Fear not though, there are good bits as well. Albeit, you know, way less of them.

Revealed by a feature in Famitsu regarding the upcoming 3DS Monster Hunter game (which will apparently make use of, and probably come bundled with, the gadget), the device has now been acknowledged by Nintendo UK, in one of those gloriously impotent PR statements that admit that a thing is happening but won't admit that the thing we've all seen that's forced them to admit that the thing is happening is actually the thing that is happening:

"We can confirm that Nintendo does plan to release the attachment but that any further announcements on the attachment will be made at some later time by Nintendo."

Nice. So then, pros and cons? Why, I have a bunch of those stacked up right here. Won't you take a moment to look at them? They're lovely, and fashioned from only the finest materials.

Pros

This thing will open up a whole load of new control options for the 3DS. With two sticks and potentially four triggers, it will have the same set-up as a Vita, or an Xbox 360 or PS3 for that matter, meaning that devs will have no reason not to make any sort of game for Nintendo's system. And let's face it, fully-featured 3D FPS with full, home-console controller options is a pretty nice idea.

Cons

This thing will split the market, and any hardware add-on that does so has historically done two things: confuse people and fail. With this thing remaining an optional extra for all four million early adopters, it will always be an optional extra for developers as well. With no guarantee that everyone has the add-on, games will need to be designed with two sets of controls available, or otherwise forgo support for the extra stick and buttons completely. Which makes fully optimised, dual analogue, four-trigger-specific games a bit of an unlikely prospect.

This thing will lead to a complete hardware revision, possibly to be announced at or around the Tokyo Game Show this month. And that will make things even messier. A twin-stick, four-trigger 3DS out of the box will further conflict devs, creating the impression that the fully-featured model is the de facto one to develop for, while still leaving the possibility of alienating four million customers if they do develop with its capabilities in mind. You either make your games unplayable by a potentially huge number of people, or you make Nintendo's up-specced revision a total waste of time and money.

This will cost Nintendo a stack of money. And at the moment it's money that Nintendo can't really afford to be losing. And for the reasons stated above, all the extra expenditure could end up being for nothing anyway.

It's going to piss early adopters off. If they have to pay for it, there will be a bloodbath, not to mention probably very low adoption rates, exacerbating all of the issues above. Even if Nintendo makes this thing free, convincing the masses that they actually need it is going to be an uphill struggle. Hell, Nintendo hasn't been great about convincing people that they even need the 3DS itself so far.

This add-on isn't necessary. The DS was fine without dual analogues. The 3DS is. The reason? That touch-screen covers all bases. Combine it with a d-pad or a left analogue and you've got a perfect approximation of keyboard-and-mouse control. The only real advantage here is the extra buttons, but as I said, they'll probably cause more trouble than benefits long-term.

Look at it! Just look at it! It' s going to make the 3DS about as portable as a mountain. Though on the upside, it will stick out of your back pocket far enough to protect at least one of your kidneys from a gunshot, like some nouveaux World War II cigarette case.

It implies a worrying style of knee-jerking panic-management in Nintendo. For a company always so assured in its innovations to be freaking out and making such a severe step so quickly after a stumbling hardware launch is frankly disturbing. The PS3 had a bloody awful start, but Sony realised that all it had to do was take time solidifying the console's software line-up and (eventually) drop the price. Nintendo has done half of that already, but possibly due to the Wii's effortless success, it also seems to have gone nuts and forgotten how to properly manage and strengthen a gaming format in the case that it isn't a freakish over-night fad. And this point, way beyond all others, is the most worrying of the lot.

Ubisoft makes Driver: San Francisco online content free for all

Ubisoft is abandoning its online pass for Driver: San Francisco following reports that some US players are receiving incorrect UPlay Passport codes with their original copies. Although the issue has yet to pop up outside of North America, the studio today announced it will be making the entirety of Driver: SF's multiplayer content free for everyone across the globe, rather than charge second-hand purchasers an online access fee as originally planned.

“Due to a printing error on the insert of some copies of Driver: San Francisco in North America, Ubisoft has elected to provide the Driver Uplay Passport content for free,” wrote Ubisoft in an online statement, adding, “Although this problem does not affect players outside of North America, we have decided to mirror this offer to everyone in the world in order to be fair to all our players.

To benefit from Ubisoft's giveaway, players must select the 'Start My 2-Day Free Trial' in-game option, and click 'Purchase UPlay Passport'. This method will work for all players - new or used - and grant full access to the game's Film Director feature and 11 multiplayer modes. Players who have already purchased the UPlay Passport are instructed to contact Ubisoft.

Ubisoft's latest From Dust PC DRM debacleleft the studio on shaky ground with more than a few gamers, so it makes sense on a PR level that the studio would ditch Driver: SF's multiplayer fee at the first sign of trouble to avoid further ill-will. That's not to say the UPlay Passport isn't gone for good, just that this ride is on the house.

Ayer se filtraba un video del nuevo Need for Speed: The Run y EA se ha apurado hoy en hacerlo oficial confirmando algunas características interesantes.

Primero, utiliza el motor Frosbite 2, el mismo que corre el espectacular Battlefield 3 del cual hemos visto varios impresionantes videos. Segundo, volverá a incluir la herramienta Autlog, que debutó con buenos resultados en el exitoso NFS: Hot Pursuit.

Como les contábamos ayer, el juego nos invitará a recorrer Estados Unidos desde New York hasta San Francisco en carreras ilegales de alta velocidad, además que EA promete una absorvente historia aunque no ha entrado en detalles aún.

El juego está programado para el 15 de noviembre en norteamérica y saldrá para X360, PS3, PC, Wii, y 3Ds, para que nadie se quede sin jugar NFS.
