You might have watched the last Harry Potter movie Imax Theater in SM Mall of Asia but I didn’t because I find SM Mall of Asia too far south. Good news for Metro Manila residents in the North, an IMAX theater is opening at the SM North EDSA.

TriNoma Unveils Digital 3D Cinema with Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs in 3D

I was pretty excited over the special screening of Ice Age 3 because of its digital 3d cinema. Just before the special screening, it was explained that the Digital 3D Cinema technology creates a whole new world of viewing pleasure by bringing vivid, brilliant visuals coupled with the crisp, clear surround sound that transport everyone inside the theatre to a vibrantly rich, sensory realm. It is trusted by different film makers associations around the globe including the prestigious British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA).

Words are never enough to describe the digital 3d experience until you are actually inside the theater. I was given special glasses made of plastic material before entering the theater. Seated in the second row with other bloggers, I thought the screen would be too close for comfort especially since it is a 3d experience. It wasn’t that bad at all . I wanted to touch the Ice Age Creatures. It felt so real that I was actually with them.

I was not just watching a movie. I was experiencing it in a way that comes close to reality. I felt bad that the kids were not with me. Even if they are adult kids now, I am sure they would have loved this experience. Ice Age 3 had adventure, witty lines and a heartwarming story.

I can go on and on about how great Ice Age 3 looks inside the TriNoma’s Digital 3D Cinema but you just have to be there. In TriNoma’s Cinema 4, moviegoers will get the same multi-sensory bliss wherever they are in the theatre – at the front row or at the back. It will also recreate the feel of a movie studio so people will get to see the film just like how the director meant it to be, down to the smallest details

If you find Imax theater at the SM Mall of Asia too far, then no worries. Finally, an Imax theater will open on July 16, 2009 at the SM North EDSA. Now that’s good news for residents in Northern Manila.

Imax Theater in SM North EDSA will feature Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. I was hoping they’d show Star Trek once again. I missed watching it in IMAX delight.

Skechers Shape-Ups

Skechers just came up with a new line of cross-training footwear called Skechers Shape-Ups, and it seems to be all right – until I saw the ad and its far-fetched claims that are probably not true. If you click on the poster above, you’ll find that this miracle sneaker can improve blood circulation, posture, strengthen the back, tighten abdominal muscles, firm up buttocks muscles, tone thighs and reduce cellulite, and firm up your calf muscles – just by wearing this shoe! That’s right, no need to go to a gym! But wait – don’t those things happen naturally if you choose to walk and do physical activities, no matter what shoes you wear? Doesn’t really help that the poster doesn’t explain the mechanisms of how exactly Skechers Shape-Ups can help you achieve these things.

Not really a big fan of the design either. It’s clunky and looks like a throwback of mid-90’s fashion, when Skechers platform-type sneakers was the rage among grade school-aged girls. I owned one of those when I was younger and they were a pain to do Dance Dance Revolution in.

But maybe Skechers Shape-ups are actually more comfortable than they look, and maybe they do make cross-training or walking around a lot easier via the invisible jet engines hidden on the fat soles. When I was a kid, I thought the worst part of growing up was that I’d be too old to play with toys. I did get older and I realized that age is just a number, and that adults can still very well buy toys if they please – especially since we now earn our own money! So if you’re a kid or a kid-at-heart with a fondness for toys and collectibles, you might want to head to the Power Plant Mall’s Focus on Toys on June 26-28.

Focus on Toys is the first leg of Rockwell’s Focus on Collections series, and this weekend you can expect the mall to be invaded by robots, admire vintage toys and Lego, and awe at the marvel of the Transformers 2 display. On June 27 there will be a cosplay competition where amazing prizes await winners, and on June 28 the 501st Stormtrooper battalion will be marching across the mall.

Singaporean shoe brand Schu just released a bunch of new designs early this month! Featuring sensible pumps and edgy heels, the latest offerings from Schu will awaken the desire to go shopping within every shoe-lover. I particularly love the faux-snakeskin sandals pictured above and the textured faux-crocodile pink pumps below.
