I’m excited to share that Out ‘o the Bag is my lovely new B&W Alpaca Scarf which is getting quite a bit of wear! In My Knitting Bag is repurposed Cascade 220 Superwash in Gray as I’m making my version of the Speckled Shrug from LionBrand.com.

I have a bit of impromptu sewing that recently came up for The Threaded Needle to help out my son. And a couple of lovely yarns have been pulled from In My Stash for a mystery project and a kit purchased at the 2012 DFW Fiber Fest.

Episode 25 is the first show of 2013. Happy New Year to everyone! Today’s episode features projects that are Out ‘o the Bag, In My Knitting Bag, In My Library, The Threaded Needle, as well as tidbits about A Stash In My Stash, Fit n’ Stitchy and Prattle.

Out ‘o the Bag reviews snowflake ornaments, a sleep sack for my niece in utero and an impromptu scarf. There is a now an Alpaca B&W Cowl In My Knitting Bag with plans to queue up another project or two. A new addition In My Library is Leslie Ann Bestor’s book, Cast On Bind Off, which was a super sweet Christmas gift from my sister.

The Threaded Needle shares one of my recent sewing projects, a keepsake bunting. Did you hear the part about having a 'stache In My Stash? Christmas gifting didn’t bring me new yarn, but I did receive the cutest little knitted ‘stache bag just perfect for notions.

I can’t begin a new year without mental promises of fitness and wellbeing, so Fit n’ Stitchy has been on my mind. Ballet leg exercises, time at the dip station and brisk, chilly walks have helped me start the year off. Episode 24 begins with a remembrance of one of the brightest stars in our community, KnitPurlGurl. Out ‘o the Bag shares leg warmers made from a pattern in the book I reviewed Crochet Boutique and the completion of my participation in the Operation Gratitude scarf campaign. In My Crochet Bag includes information about snowflake ornaments and In My Knitting Bag includes an impromptu scarf with a beautiful stash yarn.

The Threaded Needle wraps up an ornament swap with Caithness Craft Collective and dives into a new Christmas Tree Skirt project using an Amy Butler pattern. In My Stash has details of my attempt at purchasing MadTosh DK in Molly Ringwald but alas, to no avail.

When I heard back from my swap partner I was also asked what I liked, so in true Shorty's Sutures style I told her I loved Tim Burton characters and most of our decorations were in traditional greens, reds, black and white.

Right after the Thanksgiving holiday I was privileged to receive a truly precious box addressed to me with a hand drawn snowflake on it noting this package was from my swap partner. The inside of the package was full of individually wrapped swappy gifts! By chance I opened the ornament first, which to my complete surprise and amazement was an actual Jack Skellington ornament! A hand knitted, full sized, perfectly stitched and accessorized Jack Skellington character!

I wish my son would've snapped a picture of my face! I couldn't stop smiling. And, I carried Jack around for what seemed like 30 minutes. In case you didn't realize it yet, I ADORE my new ornament.

The rest of package was full of one thoughtful item after another; a hand-written note that included a Tim Burton quote, a handmade bar of soap scented with the most wonderful of essential oils, stitch markers that shined bright with gold gingerbread men and a box of Celestial Seasonings Sugar Cookie flavored tea that made my mouth water.

I was in awe! And I'm completely thankful. What an awesome way to start off the Christmas holiday season. Thank you, Louise at Caithness Craft Collective and thank you to Signe for being such a thoughtful and talented swap partner. I feel truly blessed!

I catch up on what's in my ears and fit n' stitchy, and share something new: The Dyer's Notebook. I'm not usually a fan of video casts, but I really like Laura. She's from my neck of the woods and is sharing with her viewers the in's and out's of dyeing yarn. She has a blog at gynx.blogspot.com and an easy shop where she sells her hand dyed yarns which are 100% merino.

During The Threaded Needle segment I talk about sewing more Scout patches and patching up some favorite jeans that needed a bit of mending.

During the What's in my Ears segment I share listening to Knit 1 Geek 2, DC Unraveled and Knitting Pipeline. There's lots to share about original content for blogging, podcasting and pattern design. And, I talk about a new crochet book, Crochet Boutique by Rachel Ogelsby, that's really got me thinking about lots of new things to stitch up.

Fit n' Stitchy includes a bit of information about what's keeping me moving along with how to avoid a sneaky but scary ingredient in lots of foods and drinks. Also, have you considered gift stitching? It can be more healthy and rewarding than you might think.
