Jimmy Smith WR Ex-Jacksonville Jaguars

Jimmy Smith spent 1992-1994 on the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys before landing with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 1995 and having a great 10 year Jaguar career that ended in 2005.

In that time, Smith caught 862 balls for 12,287 yards and 69 touchdowns. A 2 time Super Bowl champion with the Dallas Cowboys, 5 time Pro Bowler, and 2 time Al-Pro he even won the Ed Block Courage Award once -- listed as voted by teammates as role models of inspiration, sportsmanship, and courage.

Retirement hasn't been to good to Smith however. @DanHicken reports that Smith is currently serving a 6 year prison sentence in Mississippi for possession of cocaine and possession of a firearm by a felon. He is due to be released in 2018.

Smith was arrested in 2001 for suspicion of drunken driving, and tested positive for cocaine. Smith denied at the time that he used the drug.

Then in 2003 he was suspended the first four games of the season for violating the leagues substance abuse policy. He stated that he spent several weeks in rehab and admitted to an addiction.

Smith was arrested in 2006 on multiple drug charges, but went through rehab and started the Jimmy Smith Foundation.

In April of 2009 Smith was pulled over in Jacksvonille for excessive window tint and after smelling marijuana the officer searched his vehicle and found crack cocaine, marijuana, and a business card with cocaine on it.

It's not often that the best wide receiver in the NFL gets arrested twice in 15 hours, but thankfully Titus Young graced us with this pleasure.

Former Detroit Lion Titus Young was pulled over at around midnight Sunday for an illegal left turn and was later arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence, and no further details regarding that arrest are known.

At around 2 in the afternoon the same day police were called to an impound lot after seeing a man climb over a fence. The man turned out to be Young who was looking for his black Mustang. He was then booked for Burglary at the same place he was booked 14 hours earlier.

Young is a former 2nd round pick who totaled 990 yards and 10 touchdowns in two seasons. He was benched and told to stay away from facilities after intentionally lining up in the wrong place against the Packers last season. He was waived and claimed by the St. Louis Rams this offseason who cut him just 10 days later.

Armonty Bryant DL Cleveland Browns

When Armonty Bryant was in college at East Central he was arrested after selling marijuana to police officers twice within 2,000 feet of school, which happened to be a felony. He stated that he had learned from his ways. After getting drafted he said that he was not going to let the Cleveland Browns or anyone around him down.

Then less than a week later, he fucked up.

Bryant was pulled over for failing to signal a turn until coming to a complete stop at a stop sign at around 3:45 in the morning Friday. Police stated that he had slurred speech, bad balance, and smelled like alcohol. Bryant originally claimed he hadn't been drinking but later stated he had drank earlier. Bryant reportedly had to take a breathalyzer at least 10 times because he wasn't blowing into it properly, but it came back at a .098 and later he took a blood test. Bryant was arrested on a misdemeanor DUI charge.

Bryant was drafted in the 7th round by the Cleveland Browns less than a week prior.

Update: Here is how he was failing to blow into the breathalyzer, from ADA news:

“At one point during the test when Bryant was ‘acting’ like he was blowing into the Intoxilyzer, I pulled the mouth piece out of his mouth and observed no air to escape his mouth or any audible indication Bryant had been blowing into the Intoxylyzer, I asked Armonty six times if he would take the state’s blood test. Each time he said, ‘I just don’t want to lose my license.’ At that time I transported Armonty to the Pontotoc County Jail.”

Ingram has started just 9 games in his career, averaging 3.9 yards a carry and scoring 10 touchdowns in 2 seasons never topping 602 yards in a season.

One thing though, it appears while many are out drinking Ciroc or giant bottles of Ace of Spades, Ingram keeps it old school. Jack Daniels whiskey straight out of the bottle.

Fresh off his 2012 DUI arrest, Justin Blackmon stated that he was 'done drinking,' but allegedly that doesn't include other substances.

Adam Schefter reported today that Blackmon, the former #5 overall selection was suspended for four games this upcoming season for a violation of a league policy. While not initially stated the Big Lead states that he was suspended for violation of the substance abuse policy, so for failed drug tests or drug related arrests.

So here he is drinking in college.

UConn LB Sio Moore was pumped up by Mel Kiper during the first day of the draft, stating that whoever picked him was going to get a good player. In Shot of Ginn terms, he was already off to a Hall of Fame start. The 3rd round pick Moore, it appears, was drinking already when he got the phone call from the Raiders. Probably helps take the edge off the draft day slide. I wonder how many Natty Light's Geno Smith went through in the green room?

Quentin Groves LB Cleveland Browns

Quentin Groves was a former second round pick out of Auburn by the Jacksonville Jaguars, and like many Jacksonville Jaguars draft picks he wasn't too good. He's hopped around the league going to other NFL powerhouses the Oakland Raiders, Arizona Cardinals and now this offseason the Cleveland Browns. Now though, we found out some things we didn't particularly need to know about him.

Groves responded to a 'full service' ad while at mini camp with the Browns, and over the phone agreed to $100 for an hour and an extra $20 for anal. The person over the phone wasn't a prostitute but a cop. Police arrested him with around $200 and a box of Magnum condoms along with 14 other people arrested in the sting. Groves twitter is now locked, but apparently it stated before that he was married with 2 children.

Groves probably needs to learn a thing or two about Cleveland. The first is that if the prostitute is good looking, she probably is a cop.

Ronnell Lewis LB Detroit Lions

Following suit with recent Detroit Lions draft picks, linebacker Ronnell Lewis found himself at the police station last weekend.

Lewis, a fourth round pick last season out of Oklahoma, was arrested on charges of disturbing the police, public intoxication and interference with an official process. Lewis was thrown out of a bar, and when police arrived he didn't stop the fight that started inside. He allegedly punched the other man, stupidly in the presence of police apparently, and police were forced to taser both men before they were arrested.

The Lions released a statement, which is basically worn out and ready at all times saying; "We are aware of the incident involving Ronnell Lewis. We are in the process of gathering more information and have no further comment at this time."

Lewis, the 125th pick in the draft, recorded 2 tackles last season.

2013 NFL Draft Prospects with Character Concerns

Every year professional prospects get drilled about prior wrong doings from the past, whether it be from failed drug tests, suspensions in which no reasons were released, and just plain of arrests. Here is a list of character concerns that prospects in Thursdays NFL draft had during their prospective college careers.

Tyler Bray - QB - Tennessee:

Tyler Bray, Draft Countdowns #7 ranked quarterback, was accused last summer of crimes which eventually led to no charges against him. Bray was accused of throwing beer bottles of an apartment complex balcony onto parked cars, but reached out and offered to pay for the damage to the car.

Montee Ball - RB - Wisconsin

Montee Ball was arrested after being arrested for trespassing at a house party during the Mifflin Street Block Party after the owner was apparently trying to get everyone out of his house. He paid a $429 ticket and was released.

Ray Graham - RB - Pitt

Late round prospect Ray Graham was charged with assault following an incident where another Pitt student was struck in the head during an altercation. Graham allegedly confronted the victim initially yelling a racial slur at him before the victim was assaulted.

Washaun Ealey - RB - Jacksonville St.

Washaun Ealey was arrested while still at Georgia for hitting an parked truck and driving away while driving on a suspended license in August of 2010. He was indefinitely suspended for another incident in 2011 and transferred to Jacksonville State. In September of 2012 while with Jacksonville St. Ealey was arrested and charged with second degree marijuana possession after police searched his apartment.

Spencer Ware - RB - LSU

Spencer Ware, LSU's leading rusher at the time, was suspended for what the school newspaper stated was allegedly failed drug tests in 2011.

Kenny Stills - WR - Oklahoma

After breaking now Detroit Lions Ryan Broyles freshman receiving records, Stills was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence in 2011. Stills was eventually suspended 1 game for the incident.

Daryl Stonum - WR - Michigan/Baylor

In May of 2011, while with Michigan, Daryl Stonum was arrested for DUI for the second time in his short Wolverine career. Stonum was pulled over for driving without his headlights at around 2:25 A.M., while driving under the posted speed limit and crossing the yellow center line. He allegedly failed numerous field sobriety tests and blew a .13.

He was later sentenced to 10 days in jail for violating his probation from the previous case after being pulled over for driving on a suspended license. He was dismissed from Michigan and landed at Baylor. He allegedly had 4 alcohol related incidents while at Michigan.

Chad Bumphis - WR - Mississippi State

While celebrating a friends birthday, Chad Bumphis was charged with disorderly conduct and public drunkeness after allegedly being involved in an altercation at a bar. Bumphis suffered a cut on his neck and a broken tooth as a result of getting hit with a bottle. His charges were later lowered to a failure to comply in a plea deal.

Da'Rick Rogers - WR - Tennessee/Tennessee Tech

In 2010, at the age of 19, Da'Rick Rogers was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest following a bar fight in which two people were injured, including an off duty officer. He was dismissed from the Tennessee roster following multiple failed drug tests.

Hugh Thornton - OG - Illinois

In 2009 Thornton was placed on 12 months court supervision following a drunken altercation between him and his then in 2010 Illinois offensive lineman Hugh Thornton was arrested following a fight at a bar which he admitted to entering with a false identification.

Jacob Stoneburner - TE - Ohio State

tOSU TE Jacob Stoneburner was arrested along with a teammate after they were caught peeing in between buildings and they took off but were later caught hiding inbetween parked cars. Stoneburner was ultimately charged with obstructing official business.

Dion Sims - TE - Michigan State

In September of 2010, MSU's Dion Sims was arrested along with 9 others in a ring set up to steal computers and sell them online in business places such as Ebay. Sims was charged with receiving and concealing stolen property.

The charges were later expunged, but he was forced to sit out the 2010 season which he was later granted a redshirt.

Travis Kelce - TE - Cincinnati

Kelce was suspended for the entire 2010 season for what is being reported as allegedly a failed drug test.

Damontre Moore - DL - Texas A&M

In June of 2011 Damontre Moore, who at one time was viewed as a potential first round selection by draftniks, was arrested for possessing less than 2 ounces of marijuana.

Alex Okafor - DL - Texas

Texas defensive lineman Alex Okafor was charged along with 2 other teammates with failure to obey a lawful order after a disturbance at a downtown night spot in May of 2012 at around 1:30 in the morning.

Michael Buchanan - DL - Illinois

Michael Buchanan was arrested in 2010 and initially charged with consumption of alcohol by a minor and driving under the influence.

In 2012 Buchanan had his jaw wired shut after an altercation led to his jaw getting broken.

Stacy McGee - DT - Oklahoma

McGee was arrested twice in college, once in 2011 when he was charged with marijuana possession and possession of paraphernalia after police located a joint and a marijuana grinder in his car.

He was also arrested on Christmas Eve of last year on charges of driving under the influence and driving on a suspended license. He was also suspended the first 6 weeks on the 2012 season for reasons currently unknown.

DeQuinta 'D.D.' Jones - DT - Arkansas

Arkansas DT D.D. Jones was arrested in 2010 for possession of marijuana after police pulled him over and after a search found 8.7 grams of marijuana in his pocket. He was suspended by head coach Bobby Petrino for 1 game following the incident.

Will Pericak - DL - Colorado

Colorado defensive lineman Will Pericak was arrested Suspicion of Physical Harassment and Trespassing in January of 2012. Pericak allegedly lit a garbage can on fire and after the bar was able to put it out they asked him to leave. Pericak refused and started yelling and swearing at and 'chest bumped' the bouncers before leaving. When police finally stopped him he said, "Listen, I had some beers and caused some trouble, but I haven't done anything illegal... I left the bar."

Will Campbell - DT - Michigan

Campbell originally faced a felony charge of malicious damage to property, as well as a misdemeanor charge of malicious damage to property, and a misdemeanor charge of a minor purchasing, consuming or possessing liquor after the intoxicated 320+ pound man slid across the hood of a car in May of last year. In June he plead guilty to the misdemeanor charge.

Baker Steinkuhler - DT - Nebraska

As a sophomore in 2010, Nebraska's Steinkuhler was arrested for DUI after getting pulled over in his SUV for not having headlights on and registering a .115 BAC. He was placed on probation and suspended for the teams bowl game.

Dwayne Beckford - LB - Purdue

Dwayne Beckford got dismissed from the Boilermakers in 2012 after allegedly 5 seperate incidents since 2011 including at least 1 DUI and one time got busted with bath salts. Something tells me he isn't getting drafted.

Alec Ogletree - LB - Georgia

As a freshman in 2010 Alec Ogletree, a possible first round selection, was arrested for theft by taking after allegedly steal a scooter helmet that belonged to a member of the track team. He was suspended for one game following the incident. Ogletree was also suspended four games after an alleged positive drug test in his final season.

To finish the trifecta, Ogletree was arrested for DUI prior to the combine, aka the biggest interview of his life.

Kiko Alonso - LB - Oregon

In February 2010 Oregon LB Kiko Alonso was picked up for a DUII (driving under the influence of intoxicants) charge after being found driving erratically by police.

In 2011 Alonso got arrested for trespassing, burglary, and criminal mischief after he allegedly attempted to enter a house, which caused the owner to flee and call the police. When the police returned he was allegedly in the house.

Cornelius Washington - LB - Georgia

UGA LB Cornelius Washington was arrested for DUI after getting pulled over going over 90 MPH in a 55 MPH zone. At 22 years old in 2011 Washington allegedly registered a .12 BAC

DeVonte Holloman - LB - South Carolina

Gamecocks LB, then defensive back, DeVonte Holloman was arrested in 2011 for DUI at around 3:45 A.M. at a sobriety checkpoint.

Ramon Buchanan - LB - Miami

The U LB Ramon Buchanan was arrested with two felonies, resisting a police officer with violence and battery on a police officer, firefighter or emergency medical care provider, and three misdemeanors, trespassing, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest without violence in March of 2011.

After refusing to leave the bar following an incident in the bathroom, then attempted to evade arrest by any means necessary including allegedly attempting to headbutt an officer and spitting in an officers hand. Before it was all said and done, he told the police:

"I'm a U.M. football player and I don't give a fuck what you do. I'll get out of it. Fuck the Police."

Kenny Vaccaro - S - Texas

Potential first round draft pick Kenny Vaccaro was charged along with previously mentioned Alex Okafor with failure to obey a lawful order in May of 2012.

Baccarri Rambo - S - Georgia

Georgia S Bacarri Rambo was one of multiple Bulldog defenders suspended last season, his for a failed drug test which he blamed on a brownie he didn't know had marijuana in it. He was suspended 4 games.

Matt Elam - S - Florida

Gators S Matt Elam was charged twice with underage drinking, once in 2010 when he was caught with a Four Loko, and once in 2011 after being caught with Hennessey.

Jordan Poyer - CB - Oregon State

Poyer was charged with second-degree trespassing after he got into a nightclub he was previously banned from by using a secondary entrance.

Tony Jefferson - S - Oklahoma

OU defensive back Tony Jefferson was initially charged with interference with official process in the incident involving the previously mentioned Kenny Stills DUI.

Sanders Commings - CB - Georgia

UGA S Sanders Commings was arrested for domestic violence charges and ultimately plead guilty to simple battery and disorderly conduct after allegedly getting into a fight with his girlfriend where bystanders who separated them noticed he had struck her in the face.

Micah Hyde - CB - Iowa

Hawkeyes CB Micah Hyde was charged with interference with official acts and public intoxication following an incident where he would not leave a downtown bar at bartime. Hyde ignored police commands to stop and ran away from police but was caught later after 2 blocks.

Tyrann Mathieu - DB - LSU

Mathieu's case has been well documented, but he was suspended and later kicked off the team following multiple drug tests -- and then while trying to get back into good graces with LSU was arrested for possession of marijuana.

Mathieu later admitted to being addicted to drugs, and allegedly stated that he lost count after 10 failed drug tests. Mathieu later denied saying that and passed a combine drug test.

Branden Smith - S - Georgia

In March of last year UGA safety Branden Smith was pulled over for following too closely and not having a tag light, and after searching his vehicle found marijuana and he was charged with possession of marijuana.

Greg Reid - CB - Florida State/Valdosta State

Greg Reid, while on FSU, was pulled over and arrested for driving on a suspended license -- but after searching his vehicle and allegedly finding a burnt marijuana cigar he was charged with possession of marijuana. Reid denied that the marijuana was his and that he didn't know it was there, even though it was allegedly in plain view. He was charged with perjury and resisting arrest later in 2011, but the charges were dropped when they stated he should have never been arrested in the first place. Reid was later dismissed from the team for violating team rules.

Dont'a Hightower LB New England Patriots

Yovani Gallardo P Milwaukee Brewers

Yovani Gallardo, like the rest of the Brewers pitchers, haven't been all that great this season. So I don't blame him for going and letting off a few steam with a drink or 2. However, it seems that he had a bit more than 2 and got behind the wheel.

Gallardo was pulled over by police at around 2:10 A.M. for driving too slowly and not staying in his lane. He reportedly failed a field sobriety test and took a breathalyzer which he registered a .22, nearly 3 times the legal limit. No further details are known at this time.

Gallardo is 0-1 this season with a ERA over 6 in three starts for the 3-8 Brewers that currently sit in last place of the NL Central.

Rob Gronkowski TE New England Patriots

Sean Weatherspoon LB Atlanta Falcons

Sean Weatherspoon was the first round selection for the Atlanta Falcons at pick #19 out of Mizzou. He started 13 games last season, posting 95 total tackles, 3 sacks, and an interception en route to helping the Falcons head to the playoffs.

He may have been drafted a round ahead of Rob Gronkowski in 2010, but I'll be damned if he doesn't have a little of Gronk's party side in him too. Here he is 'fucked up' dancing shirtless on a bar and serving up free Crown Royal to the lucky patrons of the 'Campus SEC' bar last Friday night.

Edit: Turns out that Weatherspoon had a little help behind the bar in former Mizzou teammate and 49er's linebacker Aldon Smith -- but apparently his drinks were a little bit stronger. Former Mizzou teammate and current Steelers defensive lineman Ziggy Hood was also bartending.

Desmond Bryant might not be as well known as the similarly named Dez Bryant of the Dallas Cowboys, but he certainly knows how to make a name for himself off the field. The defensive lineman was arrested for criminal mischief, which was revealed later as him entering his neighbor’s house by being intoxicated. That helped produce his hilarious mug shot.

Sanders was pulled over for unspecified traffic violations at around 2:40 in the morning on Saturday, and not many details are known at this moment.
