Show "Xiao Zhu(Little Pig)" Lo held his Shimen Ting new album "Rashomon" autograph session, working from 1 P.M. to 2 A.M. His friends "Party Boys" were worried that he'd be hungry, and lack the energy, so in the middle of the night, they brought a spicy hotpot soup base, along with other hot pot items to the even to "feed the pig." They even helped massage him to loosen his neck/shoulders, Show expressed that it was very touching.

The night before the last, Show's face was buried in his albums, diligently signing away, while Party Boys surreptitiously brought an induction plate and pot to the event, and even brought out a cooler full of ice, to chill the drinks. After everything was set up and ready, they invited Show to dig in. When Show saw the table full of goodies, his drool was ready to drip off his chin, but he didn't want his fans to wait too long, so he'd run back and forth, going on and off stage. With the speed of running a 100-meter dash, he'd run off stage to get a few bites, and return to the stage to continue autographing.

Many members of Party Boys are concert producers, often working with Show. You could say that they're reliant of Show for food/money, they jokingly remarked, "Xiao Zhu (Little Pig) is our golden pig (piggy bank), so we have to fill him up (with food), so we can make money."

Show Luo Grabs 8 Awards in Baidu Music Awards - Gold Typhoon EMI artists win it big..

2010-02-11T23:20:00.001+08:00

As Gold Typhoon EMI expands in the music industry, its artists have also proven their performing skills on stage. Yesterday, Gold Typhoon artists including Show Luo won a total of 8 awards at Baidu Music Awards/ Hot Point 2009 Awards Ceremony.

Among themselves, Show Luo, Elva Hsiao and Cyndi Wang won “Most Popular All-Around Entertainer”, “Most Popular Taiwan/HK Female Singer”, “Best Taiwan/HK Drama Theme Song”. Mainland China’s heavenly princess, Bibi Chou won two awards in the idol category: “Most Popular Idol” and “Best Idol”. Zhang Yun Jing, Show Luo and Elva Hsiao also won three awards for “Top 10 Golden Melody”.

With good results, the five artists went backstage for a group pic. They joked to let Gold Typhoon’s new shareholders to first “remember their faces”. Most of the artists had to rush from Beijing to Hong Kong the next morning for Gold Typhoon’s news conference.

But while they were in Beijing, a few had some traumatic experiences. Elva had a flight delayed for three hours due to fog. Cyndi, before coming to China, had a bad ear-mic that made her jumpy. Zhang Yun Jing met a crazy fan who wanted a picture with her. When her manager blocked the fan, the fan broke a water bottle on her head, almost spraying Jing with water. Show Luo had many fans break past the barrier line, fighting to get close to him.

Baidu’s Hot Point 2009 Awards Ceremony was held on the 31st at Beijing Olympic Basketball Gymnasium. The awards results to determine the most popular artists that day were based solely on 3.38 billion searches by netizens. Artists from Gold Typhoon EMI included Bibi Chou, Show Luo, Elva Hsiao, Cyndi Wang and Zhang Yun Jing. They dominated the awards show with eight awards total amongst themselves. As for Bibi Chou, she won “Most Popular Idol”, “Baidu’s Most Popular Female Artiste”, and “Best Fanclub”; once again she became Baidu Music Awards’ biggest winner.

That day, Bibi also distinguished herself from other artists during her performance. Her performance of a mix of 10 classic Mandarin songs was the highest moment of the ceremony. This performance gave her another inspiration regarding costume styling: “Bringing out a band to perform is a really cool thing so I decided to also show off another side to me. I have to become stylish!”

This was the first time Bibi became her very own stylist. Not only did she pick her own outfit, she also decided her own hairstyle and makeup. After a half-hour of styling a punk-ish hairstyle, Bibi joked: “Right now, I’m still Maruko-chan’s mom.” But when she was finally made up, many of her colleagues and staff were surprised. The entire makeup room was bursting of “WOWs”.

Bibi didn’t stop styling herself. Not only did she prepare a pair of sunglasses and gloves, she suddenly thought to paint her nails black. As soon as Bibi received some nail polish from staff, she immediately started putting it on. Perhaps it was her punk hairstyle that made her excited. But as she was putting on nail polish, she repeatedly yelled “ROCKER” during the process. Everyone around her started laughing. Bibi commented on her work: “Actually this is my first time trying nail polish so it looks like I still need some practice.”

When Bibi came off stage after her performance, Zhang Yun Jing, who had watched from behind, rushed to tell her: “Your performance was so steady and cool! And when you held that phone prop, it was super funny!”

Bibi laughed: “Yeah, actually I borrowed that phone prop. And when I dropped it at the end, the staff still have to pick it up haha!”

Besides recognizing artists for their work in the past year, Baidu specially prepared a award for the fans – “Best Fanclub”. Bibi fans, who are nicknamed “China’s #1 Fanclub”, won with no objections! It shows that Bibi has wonderful interactions with her fans. As soon as the fans received the award, they donated the award worth 50,000 RMB (~7300 USD) to charity. This showed their admiration for Bibi as a role model and an idol. Bibi also gave out her cherished feather necklace to a lucky fan for a Chinese New Year gift. She expressed: “Since this award is for the fans, I would like to thank them for supporting me all this while. So I will also give out my most favorite item to my most favorite dear ones.”

Show Luo becomes fat, wants to "pretend to be pig and eat the tiger"

2010-02-11T23:11:00.000+08:00

Show went to China to promote his new album for ten days, and he becomes fatter by 4kg, with his current weight now being 71 kg. When his manager found out that the reason Show becomes fat was because he secretly ordered room service during midnight, she was so angry that she did not let Show eat anything and scolded:" you're really as fat as a pig!" Show angrily rebutted " This year is the year of the tiger, thus i want to pretend to be pig and eat tiger( 扮猪吃老虎){this idom means to pretend to be the fool, feigning ignorance}[In this case, Show meaning is just to rebut his manager for scolding him, so this idom is not to be taken by its meaning, instead literally]

"Hi My Sweetheart" becomes a sacrifice hit, Xiao Zhu fans curse "Because of You"

2010-02-11T23:04:00.000+08:00

Even well-tempered "Da Lang" gets angry; on GTV's "100% Entertainment", Show Luo vented about CTS' unfair treatment of "Hi My Sweetheart" which he stars in. As it aired, many loyal fans have not only supported the drama online but also cursed CTS' upcoming drama "Because of You" [lit. Fairytale under Starlight], in the hopes that ratings will drop severely.

Show Luo and Rainie Yang's CTS drama "Hi My Sweetheart" is coming to an end. Furthermore, tonight there will be an extended 135 minute episode (10pm to 12:15am) and next week there will be a 45 minute conclusion. Following immediately after it, will be Baron Chen, Megan Lai, Lego Li and Chie Tanaka's "Because of You" which will compete with CTV's "Down With Love". CTS has explained that tonight's episode will be a "Winter Holiday Special Extended Episode" but netizens have been extremely angry, exclaiming that it's basically a sacrifice hit and even Xiao Zhu has expressed his dissatisfaction, venting his feelings on GTV.

During the show, Xiao Zhu was so angry that he pouted, "Clearly it was meant to be broadcasted until February, why is it now only until January 31? It's such a good [show to] watch, why does it have to end so soon?" After that he said that tonight the drama will be airing for over 2 hours but students need to go to school the day after, yet the week after, it'll only be airing for an hour; everyone worked so hard, only to have such an ending.

In regards to this matter, CTS Deputy Chief Hu Han Xin explained, "Hi My Sweetheart" was filmed as it was airing so it was more difficult to estimate the length of the drama. CTS couldn't bare to cut anything from the last two episodes but the promotion period for upcoming drama "Because of You" has already been set so in the end, the only compromise was to air an extended episode of "Hi My Sweetheart".

Tonight there will be lots of drama in "Hi My Sweetheart", there'll be kidnapping, beatings, loss of memory, falling into water and "Winds of September"'s Teresa Daley will also make a guest appearance, making Xiao Zhu [Da Lang] fall for her. Produce Angie Chai sighed, if only she knew melodramatics would produce high ratings early, should she start with adding drugs next drama?

Xiao Zhu "head over heels"; 300 fans rush to become last-minute MV extras

2010-02-11T23:02:00.000+08:00

Recently Show Luo was filming the MV for "Head Over Heels" 愛瘋頭, the 3rd hit song from his new album "Luo Sheng Men" and to meet the needs of the plot, he distributed special invitation to his SFC International Fanclub, surprisingly attracting 300 fans from Hong Kong, Korea, Japan, etc. who all came to Taiwan rushing to become "last-minute MV extras".

The reason behind inviting fans to become involved is because of Show's "wanting to film an MV exclusively for fans" idea. He revealed, the reason for all this was due to all the hardships he experienced last year. It was his fans that always gave him the greatest encouragement when he encountered these unfair situations. The MV's storyline tells of an idol's joy and hardships while secretly dating, he has to simultaneously consider his career and his lover's feelings, Xiao Zhu acts as himself, making others curious about whether this is a portrayal of his own life experiences of love.

In the MV, after Xiao Zhu has finished his work, he secretly puts on his sunglasses and goes riding on his motorbike, taking his girlfriend to roam the night markets but he's recognised by fans, he can't have his secret date, so Xiao Zhu takes the night markets home, he pretends to be the stall-keeper, making his girlfriend laugh. He even considerately helps his girlfriend put on her facial mask and massages her shoulders and neck, completely letting go of his idol status, willing to be a gentleman at home instead; Show expressed, in real life, he is just like the guy in the MV.

Similar to Jay Chou's MV for "I'm Not Worthy" 我不配, the topic in "Head Over Heels" is about an idol's secret lover but the ending is very different. In "I'm Not Worthy", the male and female leads must sadly break up, while in "Head Over Heels", Xiao Zhu announces to everyone news of his marriage, giving his girlfriend a happy ending. Xiao Zhu expressed, "If one day I want to get married, I'll definitely let my fans know." Furthermore, besides filming a music video exclusively for his fans, Xiao Zhu will also hold a "Show Luo Head Over Heels 7 Hour Constant Accompanying Lover Selection Event", the winner will get to stay beside Xiao Zhu and be his accompanying lover for 7 hours

Show Luo takes “girlfriend” along to night market, gets caught by fans

2010-02-09T18:39:00.000+08:00

In Show Luo’s upcoming MV for new song “Head Over Heels in Love”, he will play the role of a singer, and heads out to a night market with high girlfriend after a show but gets recognized. Show expressed that his real life is the same as in the MV, and also, “If there’s a day that I get married, I’ll definitely let my fans know. But my fans are well-formed, so they’re sure to be the first to know!”

In the MV, even though Show’s famed singer character secretly changes to an ordinary look by donning a more ordinary glasses look after the show, he wanted to ride his motor scooter to take his girlfriend to a night market. But unfortunately, the changed look wasn’t complete enough, with the two of them being identified by his music fans and ruining their secret date.

Show also took advantage of this difficult situation and shared night market treats with his "girlfriend", both each taking bites. It hadn’t been ten minutes since the director said “Cut!”, and the night market snacks were already finished. Show further added, “I usually don’t have much of an opportunity to be able to go to a night market, let alone sit down to savor night market snacks! Wolfing down all that food just now makes me worried that I’ll have an upset stomach.”

PV for Show Luo’s Upcoming “Xi Guan Jiu Hao” leaked online!

2010-02-09T18:37:00.000+08:00

Taiwanese singer, actor, and host Show Luo just released his album titled “Rashomon” today, and has already promoted his latest album with his slick-looking “The Leading Role” dance music video. Already, the popular singer has his eyes on releasing the slower ballad “Xi Guan Jiu Hao” as his second release, as can be seen from a leaked promo video that has been leaked online.

The video from the leaked PV, besides obviously being a change of pace from the much faster beats of the first MV, also features a completely different environment outside. Not only that, but it clearly takes place on the other side of the world in New York, which also explains what Show was doing there. Why is another matter, which is a topic of discussion for another day. In the mean time, check out the latest leaked PV of Show’s latest slow ballad, courtesy of TaiwanMV.

Show Luo and his...rather large collection of clothes

2010-02-09T18:35:00.000+08:00

On January 15th, Show Luo (Xiao Zhu) conducted an interview in Beijing. The subject of clothing was brought up, and Show Luo laughingly stated that about every three months, he would conduct a 'Mister Luo Clothing Give-Away Party'. During this time he shares his monstrous collection of clothing and shoes. When this gathering of friends leaves, they are usually lugging behind them three or four large bags of clothing, and approximately 50 pairs of shoes. This leaves interviewers and economists in a staggering shock.

He admitted at the latest 'Mister Luo Party' there was a rather large collection of interesting sunglasses. Even he himself admist that this may be a little over the top as he owns over one hundred sun glasses. When asked if he had any more collections, he responded immediately with 'rings, hats, both are around a hundred. The most unbelievable are the shoes, there are over a thousand pairs!'

In the end it practically turns into a game show where he pulls out clothes one by one with friends competing for the clothes. Shoes go the same way, regardless of whether or not they actually fit the person they go to. As long as it can be crammed onto the foot, it's good.

And just how big does his closet has to be to fit all that stuff. Maybe he doesn't have a closet, but an entire room dedicated to it. If this is a periodical thing, he could bring the clothes to Yu Le Bai Fen Bai. There should be quite a few people out there who want to their hands on some of his clothing.

Show Luo politely refuses western girls, afraid that mother won’t accept

2010-02-09T18:34:00.000+08:00

Taiwanese entertainer Show Luo, who has never dated a foreigner before, is in such a dreamy relationship for the latest MV of his song “I’ll Be Used to It 習慣就好”. Show’s entertainment company Gold Typhoon released a statement several days ago saying that the singer lacks any interest in having a relationship with a foreigner, and that he can’t be in one since he’s afraid that his mother won’t stand for it.

Show’s shoot for his new MV marks the first time for him to deal with a language barrier, with over a hundred Chinese-American girls auditioning to star with him. Despite Show’s lacking English in communicating with the casted Thai-Chinese-American, the famed variety show gagman threw in Thai words in a weird accent while speaking in Mandarin to his MV co-star, causing her to laugh aloud as a result.

Since the lead female actress for the MV often fainted due to low blood sugar, Show would offer her candy at regular intervals and check on her condition during the shoot, with the actress endlessly complimenting the Taiwanese singer for his kindness and compassion. She also expressed hopes of having an opportunity to date an Asian guy, yet Show wasn’t interesting, responding that his mother couldn’t accept him dating a foreigner, and saying that it was okay as long as such a relationship stays in the MV.

Show and the beautiful racially-mixed girl spent twenty hours “falling in love” in the beautiful outdoors in New York. During the MV shoot, the film crew handed Show hot tea and a blanket, and when they asked the singer if he was cold, he responded jokingly with the song’s title “I’ll be used to it”. Little did he know that he would eventually get sick immediately the following day.

Show Luo has interracial relationship in new MV: "As long as it's..."

2010-02-09T18:31:00.000+08:00

Show Luo, whose “Rashomon” album has just come out today, has already topped KKBOX’s MV charts with his second single “Xi Guan Jiu Hao/ As long as I’m used to it”. Although he admits that his English isn’t very good and that he has never thought of dating a foreigner, Show has accomplished an interracial love story in this MV with the help of his record company.

In the MV, Show goes to New York alone. Even though his girlfriend has already left him, he still can’t forget their past: sleeping on the coach together; she waking him up; cooking together in a romantic atmosphere. Now he sleeps alone and no one wakes him up. He can only find restaurant leftovers to eat in the refrigerator. As he is lonely, all he can do is sigh in despair.

The director used the technique of switching back and forth between the past and present. The two main characters had to film in 2° C for 20 hours until the MV was finished. Staff brought along hot tea and blankets. Instead of complaining of the cold, Show tried to joke handsomely: “It’s ok…as long as I’m used to it…” (pun to song title)
It wasn’t until after filming was finished that he got a cold the very next day.

Because the main female lead often fainted due to low blood sugar, Show would regularly give her candy to eat and check on her condition during filming. But his English wasn’t good enough so he mixed some Thai with Mandarin to chat with her. His weird accent made her laugh out loud. She couldn’t stop complimenting him for his tenderness and attentiveness. She said that she also hoped for a chance to date an Asian man. On the other hand, Show was afraid his mother couldn’t accept a foreigner. He said: “As long as it’s in the MV, an interracial relationship is fine already!”

Show Luo Fulfills the Dream of His Diabetic Mother – Opens a Sweetener (Non-sugar) Dessert Shop

2010-02-09T18:27:00.000+08:00

Yesterday, Show Luo (Xiao Zhu) held a press conference in Beijing. On the spot, he tried the “Jing 8 Types” dessert and revealed that he will use $500,000 to fulfill his mother’s dream of opening a dessert shop, benefiting diabetes patients like his mother so they can eat sweets. The filial Show said, “But the first priority is her health. She should not over-work.”

About 2+ years ago, he held a concert in the Taipei Arena. Closely before the concert was held, his mother was hospitalize due to diabetes and was in critical condition. But fortune always comes after good health; right now she makes scheduled check-ups and tests her diabetes everyday with the home-testing equipment, requiring her to poke her own finger. Show jokingly said, “I wanted to buy her a better diabetes test equipment that costs around NT$280,000, but she told me to just give her the cash.”

If album sales are good, will wear Qing Dynasty princess clothing

As for the reason for opening a dessert shop, it’s because Luo Mama likes eating sweets. “My mom’s diabetes is a result of her own eating habits; during summer time, she needs to eat two bowls of shaved ice everyday,” said Show. The dessert shop that she wants to start up will exclusively use only sweeteners. People with diabetes can then eat sweets without having to worry. The plan is to open in April, but it might just a breakfast shop or a supplementary restaurant.

As for his fashion brand STAGE, right now it has shops in Taipei, Kaohsiung, Singapore, Hong Kong, and is in the process of getting into the Mainland China, Japanese, and American market. With Taipei as the basis for calculation, the average monthly income is more than $1,000,000. Even with the large markets he is in already, he is still putting much effort in increasing it. He just finished promoting “Hot Shot” in Japan and will hold a concert there in April. Yesterday, during the press conference, there were many female servers who were dressed in Qing Dynasty palace outfits, Show said, “If my Mainland sales breaks 500,000, I’ll wear this type of outfit to dance.”

It has been many years since Show has communicated with Vivian Hsu. Recently she’s had some contract-related issues with her management company. Show became the attorney assistant, encouraging her by saying, “Remember to not hide from the present situation.” I hope that she will bravely accept the current situation, but at the same time, do not give-up her goals.

First Brothers battle : Zaizai steals Xiao Zhu's endorsement, change of heads to wash

2010-02-09T18:23:00.000+08:00

ZaiZai(Vic Zhou) and Xiao Zhu (Show Luo) had previously "clashing" styles while filming ads, but now the Shampoo brand that Xiao Zhu has been endorsing for 3 years, has changed and signed Zaizai as their endorser from this year, bringing back their "Adverts First Brother " battle.

Yesterday, Xiao Zhu's manager Jiang Cheng-Jin replied wittingly : "Being this brand endorser for 3 Years he filmed 4 ads, and in those, Xiao Zhu and Alice Tzeng from met, had first love to finally getting married, if he kept on being the endorser, do you think it's good to film them having kids ? It was about time for a change to have a fresh feeling."

Zaizai and Xiao Zhu are both advertisers favourites. One whose fame spread all around Asia because of F4's name as a foundation and a guaranteed strong box office overseas, last year proving again his acting skills in "Black and White" ; the latter is a whole rounded artist, who can sing, dance, host. The 2 are each other target in the advertisement area, but Zaizai's manager Zhi Xiang Li feels that it is a healthy competition, the 2 artist having never cooperated before, and their sole link is that Zaizai's ex DaS is Xiao Zhu's good friend.

Last August, Zaizai went to Thailand to film this Shampoo TV commercial, pocketing over 10 Millions, and in just 90 seconds, he once again showed off his "deep love" and cute look. Recently he is preparing for the movie "Killer, Ou Yang Pen Zhai", and ridiculously got into tabloids because he had dinner with Bowie Tsang to talk about it, Zhi Xiang Li powerlessly jokes : "Lately he had been playing with flowers and grass(aka flirting), because the movie's killer loves Bonzais."

On The 10th, Xiao Zhu will attend to Idol drama "Hot Shot" event. This time, Jerry Yang with who he is rumored to not get along with isn't coming, only his good friend Wu Chun, the 2 also use the same hairstylist thus showing their brotherly bond, making GTV praising them "Such considerate artists". "Hot Shot" drama will organise 2 fans meetings in Tokyo and the fans have to buy a DVD set worth about 10 thousands NTD to be able to participate in the lottery and then get in, the tickets revenue alone is estimated to be more than 40Millions.

Angela Chang and Show Luo film ice cream ad in icy weather

2010-01-29T15:01:00.000+08:00

Over a week ago, popular Taiwanese entertainers Show Luo and Angela Chang headed over to Shanghai in order film a commercial for some ice cream treats. In the past, Show’s manager forbid Show from eating the fatty sugary refreshments for fear of his figure, but Show now had a valid excuse to splurge on the unhealthy goods. Braving the nearly freezing water temperatures of 2°C, Show started to get a cold after gulping down thirty of the treats.

The ice cream ad marks the first time that Show and Angela have collaborated, so the both of them were initially not personal with each other. Their first day meeting was a bit rusty, but Show resorted to humor the following day in order to break the ice (excuse the pun). Since the ad is to air in the summer, Show had to wear short sleeves, while Angela battled the frigid temperatures in a short skirt on the cold streets of Shanghai. As the two shivered during the shooting, the pair would seek a heat source to stay warm when not in front of the cameras. As Show’s part in the commercial ended earlier, Angela felt jealous at having to stay longer for the shoot.

Eating all that ice cream in the cold made Show crave for hot pot, as his agent felt concern over Show’s face getting fatter from the ice cream binge. It’s been reported that the cost for shooting the commercial has been tagged at NT$25 million with the inclusion of Show. For Angela, this marks the fifth consecutive that she’s endorsed the ice cream product. This time, the veteran singer will be using the ad as a vehicle to promote her song “Looking for Emily” off her latest album “Fifth Season” album, since the song is set to be the commercial’s theme song.

Show Luo was too manly in the past, missed out on his chance to "get the girl"

2010-01-29T14:58:00.000+08:00

For Show Luo’s new album "Rashomon", the first single “The Leading Role” is a song about the competitive mentality both men and women get towards pursuing love. A Leo in the zodiac, Show has also been overwhelmed with many emotions towards love, admitting that when he was younger he had a “manly” mentality that cost him several opportunities for relationships.

Show felt that when he was younger he was too manly and this has left him with some regrets towards his love life. He said, “I have become much more mature now and have learned that by being less rambunctious I can learn much more about life.” He hopes that he can soon find the person to snag the “leading role” in his love life.

Show will be releasing his 7th album “Rashomon” on January 15th. His company, Gold Typhoon, has spent 8 million yuan on his promotions without hesitation. Though we previously showed you the MV and reported that he went all the way to New York to film it, we didn’t tell you who he worked with! Turns out they especially invited the producer for “Sex and the City”, actor Ethan Hawke’s makeup artist, singer Alicia Keys’s lighting division, as well as an Oscar-winning animation team all to create the MV for his “Love’s Center Stage” single. The work really paid off as there were some incredible CGI effects at the beginning of the music video!

In addition to an all-star production team, Show even traveled to New York’s Harlem district, becoming the first Taiwanese artist to ever book the New York Opera house to film a music video. He was deeply honored to be able to receive this honor from such a prestigious place, but said that this made him more jittery and nervous during the filming process, giving him more pressure to do well than for any other one of his music videos. Not wanting to be seen as a joke in an unfamiliar place, Show encouraged his dancers to do their very best so that they could have a perfect performance and show the foreigners that he is a force to be reckoned with.

Rainie Yang and Show Luo get lubby dubby for “In Your Eyes” MV!

2010-01-24T22:55:00.002+08:00

Shortly after Alien Huang released his rock melody “Screwed Up” MV, his famous ex-girlfriend Rainie Yang and best buddy/fellow 100% Entertainment co-host Show Luo pair up in the lubby dubby-filled MV for the track “In Your Eyes” (EDIT: for our non-North American readers, “lubby dubby” is slang for extremely sentimental love). The song is the second track to be released in MV form off of Rainie Yang’s soon-to-be-released-tomorrow album “Rainie & Love”.

The saccharine-filled MV, which was to be expected from the cute, puppy love lyrics of the target song. As such, the MV plays it safe with a by-the-numbers cute puppy love MV rulebook. Since the duo are also the leads to their latest idol drama “Hi My Sweetheart”, the MVserves as a commercial vehicle for their rom-com extravaganza with obligatory inserted scenes from the show.

There are still some interesting things to note in the MV though. For one, Show’s hair is noticeably shorter in the front, which is a slight shift from the Asian idol trademark hair that sweeps down at an angle. Also, Rainie Yang sports parted hair and a balled up pony tail hair style while wearing a baggy hoodie, a mainstay look with frequent 100% Entertainment guest co-host Butterfly Jie Jie. Everything’s so familiar, yet so not.

With this recent duet by the two popular Taiwanese entertainers, one has to ask if their latest collaboration is up to snuff with other famous Mandopop guy-girl duet songs. Will it be as well-known as Will Pan/Zhang Xiang Zhi’s “Bu De Bu Ai” ballad? Are people going to queue up this song in KTVs as much as Jolin Tsai/David Tao’s “Marry Me Today” song? Is this song going to bombard the airwaves like Genie Cho/Alien Huang’s “Ai De Zhu Xuan Lu” tune? The slip from my fortune cookie says no, but then fortune cookie sayings were clearly written to be humorous by appending them with “in bed” (EDIT: for our non-North American readers, fortune cookies are…umm, just Wikipedia it).

Rainie and Show’s latest musical outing isn’t be destined to be the next duet masterpiece, but the MV has the star power of Taiwan’s currently hottest celebrity pairing, and the song is a formulaic cute love melody guaranteed to satisfy fans from both Rainie and Show camps. Put another way, this MV’s pretty much like eating candy: it won’t fill you up, but it’ll satisfy your cravings temporarily until it’s time for the good stuff.

Show Luo releases slick-looking “The Leading Role” MV!

2010-01-24T22:54:00.002+08:00

Yesterday, Taiwanese entertainer Show Luo released his first MV off his upcoming “Rashmon” album for his album debut track “The Leading Role”. The MV, which features the popular actor/singer as a walking statue, his featured red cape crusader outfit, a messianic white garb, and a male Lady Gaga-like look, has its moments where it resembles a CGI-filled scene from a blockbuster movie than it does a typical dance music video. The intro scene alone is an impressive visual effects treat that will impress viewers.

That’s not to say that the MV stops being good in the non-CGI sequences. Show also fills those scenes with slick dance moves that take a page from a Michael Jackson how-to dance manual than from the R&B and hip-hop-inspired dance moves that have been adopted from similar Asian male artists. That doesn’t come as surprise, as Show has made his Michael Jackson obsession quite known for some time, though other artists don’t usually follow the dance style as strictly as Show does.

The song itself is obviously fast-paced for the dance moves to match it on. People expecting the new song to be a ballad in the veins of “Good Friend” or “Corner with Love” will be disappointed, as Show has instead gone the direction of “Hot Shot” and “One Man Show”. It’s great that Show has established his own musical identity, but it’s too bad that Show abandoned the nostalgic sounds that he sang in his debut era like classic cover song “Do You Dare”.

Speaking of classics, the song for the MV feels dated and out-of-place in the futuristic-sounding 2010, in an era that’s becoming known more for techno-infused hip-hop beats and heavily overused autotune. That is, Show’s latest track seems like it belongs more in the mid-90s, an era ruled by the dated syncopated-dance tunes of its Andy Lau's and Ekin Cheng's. Typical Show fans will still more than likely get attached to this song as expected, but casual Mandopop fans might ask themselves, “What is this?”

Show Luo exercises in Meike-shoes, choose Meike-Shoes brand for his new MV

2010-01-24T22:50:00.000+08:00

Earlier, Xiao Zhu (Show Luo) accepted an invitation from Meike-Shoes (MS) and attended their new "Happily Exercising" commercial and print filming. From our understanding, the new MS ad could be released in the near future on mediums such as movie screens, Hunan satellite TV, and the web.

MS's decision to use graphic prints is a new concept. Everyone will be able to admire the newest, most attractive and the most "happily exercising" aura that will be headlined by Xiao Zhu; at the same time, fans can see him sport MS active wear in his 2010 new MV.

Also, the filming for the commercial was rumoured to have taken place from 12 noon until 12am the next day, with no breaks, taking 12 hours in total.

"I really like MS's 2010 Spring/Summer Line; it's fashionable and attractive!" quotes Xiao Zhu. He couldn't stop singing and dancing while on set, proving that, full of energy, he is really the right spokesperson for the line. Approaching the last few hours of filming, workers on set could tell that Xiao Zhu was getting worn out, but he kept up his energy and persevered to the end. The representaive from MS gave him a thumbs up and praised his diligence.

This is the 3rd time that Show has signed a contract with MS, so one could say that they are familiar with each other on several terms. After the many years of partnership, Show has deep feelings for MS and has goodwill and wishes for their activewear label. "MS has a firm foothold in utilizing the fun of the 80's and 90's, combining it with their ever innovative active wear products, and have been able to bring the "happily exercising" concept to customers. I predict that they will soon be expanding in the Mainland market." says Show.

MS representative Fu Zhi Qin explosed that the new commercials could be appearing on major mediums such as the movie screens, Hunan Satellite TV and the internet. Then, everyone will be able to see energetic Show wearing MS's newest designs and acting out the story behind the concept.

MS thoughtfully designs Show's clothing for his new MV

Fans have been waiting patiently for Show's new album, which is slated to be released in the first half of 2010. Therefore, many questions have been raised as to whether MS, a company with which Show has deep feelings for, will be a part of this endeavor.

As we all know, current retail branding is one of the hottest marketing tools of entertainment marketing, many labels' advertisement and success comes from appearance in various media activities. Of course, MS would not give up a chance to boost their label ratings as well. Fu Zhi Qin tells reporters, "2010 is the year that MS enters the huge commercials sector, one of our first projects will be centered around Show's new album and concert performances."

Mr. Fu also revealed that in Show's upcoming 2010 album, one of his main theme song's MV will showcase MS activewear. "His outfit was carefully designed by our head designer, based on the feeling behind the lyrics, expression, background, and of course, Xiao Zhu's personal aura." Also, MS will have the honour of appearing as a sponsor on the 2010 album cover, packaging, and promotional posters.

Other than entertainment marketing, internet marketing may also become a powerful tool in advertising MS's 2010 line. Compared to television marketing, the costs of internet marketing are relatively low, with a wide range of audience, so it is an invaluable tool as well. "Our current target is establishing a MS website, which will be the main source of advertising for the label, allowing us to have a 3D plan of attack, integrating televised, graphic print, and internet advertising.
