Christopher Nolan confirms casting news

The Dark Knight Rises casting speculation can officially end right now - Warner Brothers have confirmed that Anne Hathaway will be playing Selina Kyle, aka Catwoman, while Tom Hardy has been confirmed as Bane.
Catwoman has long been a fan favourite for Rises - despite that Halle Berry film - and Hathaway has been a front runner during recent casting calls.
In the comics the character is high class cat burglar of questionable moral character who forms a complex love/hate romance with Bruce Wayne/Batman.
Hardy, who was cast before Christmas and thought to be attatched to any number of roles, will play Bane, who - unlike the joke of a character portrayed in 1997's Batman & Robin - is actually a genius military strategist and fearsome soldier driven insane by the super soldier serum 'venom'.
Bane famously broke Batman's spine during a confrontation in the Knightfall saga in the early 1990s, forcing Bruce Wayne to relinquish the mantle of the bat for a time.
Christopher Nolan stated, “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Anne Hathaway, who will be a fantastic addition to our ensemble as we complete our story.”

On working again with Tom Hardy, Nolan said, “I am delighted to be working with Tom again and excited to watch him bring to life our new interpretation of one of Batman’s most formidable enemies.”
This news couldn't have come at a better time, with 2012's other superhero movies gathering all the column inches in recent weeks.
We're particularly excited about the announcement that Bane will be the villain - and seeing Hardy bring the monster to life - might we be seeing the long-awaited adaptation of Knightfall? We can only hope.
The Dark Knight Rises is released July 20 2012.

Demi Moore was stunned when a restaurant manager asked a worker run to a local store to pick up her favourite drink.

The actress was dining with her husband Ashton Kutcher in Beverly Hills when she requested a glass of coconut water. The tipple has high levels of potassium and minerals, and is often marketed as a sports drink. It can help raise metabolism and boosts the immune system, and is a favourite among stars.

The eatery’s manager promised to fetch her the drink, before hastily sending another worker to fetch some as he knew they were out of supplies. Demi finally received her drink 15 minutes later, prompting her to laughingly ask if they’d had to get it in specially.

“Actually... yes,” the manager admitted.

Demi immediately asked to meet the man who’d run to fetch the drink, and tipped him $50. “Next time, it might be easier just to say you don’t have any,” she laughed.

AJACCIO, France (AFP) - – American socialite Paris Hilton was briefly held by police on the French island of Corsica after being caught with cannabis in her handbag, according to police sources.

Hilton was detained after arriving at the airport in Figari on a private jet from Paris on Friday.

Police found less than a gram of cannabis in her handbag, and released her soon afterwards without charge.

According to Corse-Matin newspaper, Hilton was travelling on the private jet with "people close to power in Malaysia", and was due to travel by yacht to the luxury resort of Porto Cervo in Sardinia, Italy.

The incident is the American's second brush with the law this month.

The 29-year-old was arrested during the World Cup in South Africa after a friend she was with took a joint to the Brazil-Netherlands quarter-final match in Port Elizabeth.

A darling of the tabloids, Hilton, the great-granddaughter of the Hilton hotel chain's founder, shot to fame in 2003 when her boyfriend leaked a video of their sexual escapades on the Internet.

LOS ANGELES - Her career may have hit a rocky patch, but Megan Fox's personal life seems happier than ever.

The "Transformers" actress married her long-time boyfriend, former "Beverly Hills, 90210" star Brian Austin Green, in Hawaii late last week, TMZ.com reported on Monday.

The pair tied the knot during a small ceremony at the Four Seasons Resort on the state's Big Island. Staff at the hotel were not able to confirm the report, and Fox's publicist did not immediately return an email seeking comment.

Fox, 24, and Green, 36, reportedly got engaged for a second time at the same hotel earlier this month. They met in 2004, first got engaged in 2006, but called it off in early 2009.

It was the first marriage for both, although Green has an 8-year-old son with actress Vanessa Marcil.

Fox is currently in theaters with the comic-book adaptation "Jonah Hex," which is shaping up to be one of the biggest bombs of the year. Last month, she was suddenly dropped from the cast of "Transformers 3" just as production was about to begin. She last year likened franchise director Michael Bay to Hitler and Napoleon, and said he was "a nightmare to work for."

Her high-profile headlining role in the 2009 horror comedy "Jennifer's Body" also fizzled.

Green, meanwhile, has worked steadily in a series of low-profile film and TV projects since the popular teen soap "Beverly Hills, 90210" ended its decade long run in 2000.

There were quite a few highlights at the MTV Movie Awards 2010, including Tom Cruise’s performance with Jennifer Lopez and Kristen and Robert’s acceptance speech for Best Kiss but we’re pretty sure Sandra Bullock’s moment with Scarlett Johansson is what will have everyone talking this week.

Bullock, who looked stunning in a sparkly black dress, approached the stage to accept her Generation Award. Betty White gave a great introduction – as did Bradley Cooper – but no one could figure out why Scarlett Johansson was on stage helping to present.

All of a sudden, Sandra turned to Scarlett and said how she honestly didn’t know why she was on stage to help hand out the award. “It’s seriously awkward” said Bullock, just before asking Scarlett why she was there. Scarlett then explained that her boyfriend Ryan Reynolds wanted to be there for their nomination for Best Kiss but couldn’t make it so she was there to fill in. Then, out of nowhere, the two locked lips.

Was it hot? We’ll leave that up to you. From what we’ve read, the only complaints online are that the kiss needed to be longer.

Tiger Woods finally speaks: 'I am deeply sorry'

On the 84th day, Tiger Woods finally spoke. He let the world know that he is sorry for what happened, that he will continue to get help for his addiction and that he will not be playing golf anytime soon.
Tiger gave us what appeared to be a previously outlined statement from his PR team, finishing with a plea for people to "believe in me again." His first message was that of sorrow, but the 13-minute statement turned heated when Tiger spoke of the rumors that Elin had chased and/or hit Tiger with a golf club:
"There is one issue I really want to discuss. Some people have speculated that Elin somehow hurt or attacked me on Thanksgiving night. It angers me that people would fabricate a story like that. Elin never hit me that night or any other night. There has never been an episode of domestic violence in our marriage. Ever."
Tiger's mom, Tim Finchem and fellow PGA Tour player and former Stanford teammate Notah Begay III were in attendance, but Elin was not. That didn't stop Tiger from speaking about her most of the time.
Tiger admitted that he is the only one to blame, admitting, "I was unfaithful." He also apologized to his family, friends and fans, and said he thought he played by different rules because of money and fame, but agrees that those "actions were wrong."
Tiger admitted "he has a long way to go," but he is taking steps in the right direction, and said that no matter what people want to know about his marriage, it is going to stay within the family. "Please leave my wife and kids alone," Tiger stated.
As for golf, Tiger said that he will return to golf one day, he just doesn't know when that day will be. He also didn't rule out returning in 2010, but no date was promised.
All in all it was the statement we expected -- preempted, selective and, in typical Tiger fashion, guarded. Nobody will ever know if Tiger has changed, but it sure sounds like he meant it.

Angelina Jolie is hard at work on Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington D.C., filming her new spy thriller Salt on Thursday (March 5).

Shes having a lot of fun and joking on set with the stunt double. Shes in a great mood and was laughing with [co-star] Liev Schreiber in between takes, a spywitness tells OK!. There were some fans who were watching her shoot and she was waving to them.

The source adds, Shes been filming a sprint scene this morning where she runs down the street and before she ran, she runs in place to get warmed up. She was doing all of the stunts herself but her stunt double was walking her through everything.

Brad Pitt joined Angelina Jolie in Washington DC today. Jolie is there filming Salt and Pitt is meeting Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi.

WASHINGTON,DC - While Brad Pitt was busy on Capitol Hill Thursday, his other half was hard at work on her new movie in D.C.

Angelina Jolie was busy filming a new espionage action thriller called Salt, and the set was located at The Navy Memorial in Northwest Washington. All of the action unfolded right in front of dozens of star-gazing fans.

Jolie waved to FOX 5's crew as she walked onto the set. For a little over an hour, she acted out a scene in which she runs toward the Archives-Navy Memorial-Penn Quarter Metro station from 7th Street NW.

The scene played out right in front of anyone who wanted to watch, and the set was so unassuming that some people who were walking by had no idea what they had stumbled onto. Many just stood watching, with cell phone cameras in hand.

"We were standing up here and she was talking to the director, and a couple of young ladies waved and she waved back to them, so that got everyone inspired," said Irccoh Player, who added that it was a bit of a thrill seeing the star.

"I initially saw her and I said that's not her, she has blond hair and I wandered up next to her, and she came next to me and I said that is her," said Deepa Iyengar, who was also there watching. "She's so beautiful so pretty."

A fairly large number of Hollywood stars come to the D.C. area to shoot movies and to testify in front of Congress, but Angelina Jolie seems to be in a different galaxy. U.S. Park Police thought they would be pulling paparazzi out of the trees, but fortunately nothing like that happened.

Angelina Jolie showed off a brand new hairdo in Italy on Wednesday.

The actress, 34, revealed a blonder look for her upcoming film "The Tourist," a thriller co-starring Johnny Depp, which is set to shoot in Venice, Italy. Jolie was snapped with chunky blonde highlights and sideswept bangs as she stepped into a water taxi with Brad and Pax.

It's not the first time the star has altered her appearance for a role. As a CIA agent in the action film "Salt", (out this July), Jolie sported a number of different looks, including a long dark wig with bangs, and a blonde wig.

The Jolie-Pitt's have been having lots of fun since landing in Italy! The couple was spotted getting Italian ice cream with their older children, Maddox, Pax, Zahara, and Shiloh, and on Tuesday, the world was treated to the rare sight of Brangelina's 19-month-old twins, Knox and Vivienne, as they took a water taxi ride in Venice.

The family is reportedly staying at the stunning canal-side Palazzo Mocenigo, which is situated between the Rialto and Accademia parts of the city, and faces San Toma, for the movie's three-month shoot.

Jolie -- who begins filming on March 15 -- has previously spoken about her brood's jet-setting lifestyle. She recently told the press: "It's hard, and maybe one day we'll have to stay in one place. I'm sure the kids are going to be 18 and say, 'God, I just want to stay in one place.' They'll never want to leave home."

LOS ANGELES, CA - The internet has been abuzz since this Sunday’s Golden Globes ceremony, where Megan Fox jokingly remarked that she looked like a man.

When interviewed on the red carpet, she said “I look like Alan Alda in drag. I’m a tranny. I’m a man.”

At the time, reporters passed it off as a jovial attempt to cover for her nerves.

However, today she has cleared the air and officially reported: she’s really a man.

Megan Fox was born Mitchell Reed Fox in Rockwood, Tennessee. From an early age, Mitchell showed an interest in both performing and women’s clothing. When having a preacher lay hands on him did not ‘cure’ him of these interests, his parents simply put him on the pageant circuit.

By the age of 13, Mitchell had already started a career as a female child performer called ‘Megan Fox’. Making her debut on an Olsen Twins straight-to-video release, the twins have kept his secret all this time.

As a sweet 16 present, Fox’s parents offered him sexual reassignment surgery, which, given their child’s career, they’d hoped to write off as a business expense. Unfortunately laws prohibit such surgery to be done to minors.

Since then Megan has been working non-stop, and been included on many Hottest Women lists in publications around the world.

Megan, as she goes by now exclusively, also noted this Sunday how much she wants Salma Hayek’s figure. She has even scheduled surgery later this month to get it. After the two met in New York this week, Hayek offered to have a cast made of her bust so doctors can match them exactly on Megan Fox’s chest.

The internet is already speculating whether this news will be worked into the plot of the upcoming Transformers sequel.

LOS ANGELES - Brad Pitt has donated $100,000 to fight California's November ballot initiative that would overturn the state Supreme Court decision legalizing same-sex marriage.

It's the first time voters will be asked to ban same-sex marriage in a state where gay couples already have won the right to wed. Same-sex marriage is legal in Massachusetts and California.

It's the first time voters will be asked to decide the issue in either California or Massachusetts — the states where gays have won the right to wed.

"Because no one has the right to deny another their life, even though they disagree with it, because everyone has the right to live the life they so desire if it doesn't harm another and because discrimination has no place in America, my vote will be for equality and against Proposition 8," Pitt said Wednesday.

Trevor Neilson, Pitt's political and philanthropic adviser, told The Associated Press that Pitt was surprised that his colleagues in the entertainment industry had not donated more money to support the battle against Proposition 8.

Earlier in the week, Pitt and Angelina Jolie announced they donated $2 million to help fight HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis in Ethiopia.
