Ellen DeGeneres invites another pinoy singer on her show

American TV host Ellen DeGeneres is inviting a young Pinoy singer from General Santos City to perform on her show.

In an episode of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," the TV host praised Aldrich Lloyd Talonding for his version of Luther Vandross' "Dance With My Father," which became viral on YouTube. Ellen Degeneres asked the young Pinoy singer to perform live on her show in the US.

"Last week, I saw this video of a young singer. He's from the Philippines and you got to see this kid, amazing," Ellen DeGeneres said before playing the video clip taken from Youtube.

"How beautiful is that. That soul in the little boy. I'm looking for you. Please come here and sing to me and all of my friends here. You are amazing," the popular TV host said after watching the video clip.

The 85th Academy Award Nominations Revealed

The nominees for the 85th Academy Awards were announced during the highly-anticipated announcement ceremony on Thursday, January 10, at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater by Seth MacFarlane, host of the 85th Academy Awards, and actress Emma Stone.

The film “Lincoln” received the most nominations, with twelve, followed by “Life of Pi,” which has 11 nominations. These two films are considered the frontrunners for Best Picture in the 85th Academy Awards, although other nominees like the films “Argo,” “Zero Dark Thirty” “Silver Linings Playbook,” and “Les Miserables” can make an upset.

The 85-year-old Emmanuelle Riva became the oldest actress ever to have been nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress. Her movie “Amour” is both nominated in Best Picture and Best Foreign Language Film categories. On the other hand, Ben Affleck was snubbed in the Best Director category.

Columbia Pictures releases a movie trailer for its new sci-fi action-adventure “After Earth” starring Will Smith and Jaden Smith and directed by M. Night Shyamalan.

Synopsis: A crash landing leaves teenager Kitai Raige (Jaden Smith) and his legendary father Cypher (Will Smith) stranded on Earth, 1,000 years after cataclysmic events forced humanity’s escape. With Cypher critically injured, Kitai must embark on a perilous journey to signal for help, facing uncharted terrain, evolved animal species that now rule the planet, and an unstoppable alien creature that escaped during the crash. Father and son must learn to work together and trust one another if they want any chance of returning home.

Opening in June 2013, “After Earth” is distributed by Columbia Pictures, local office of Sony Pictures Releasing International.

Philippines wins Manhunt International 2012

Philippine's very own June Macasaet emerged as the winner of Manhunt International 2012 on November 9, Friday night, held at the Scala Theatre, Siam Square, Bangkok, Thailand.

Macasaet bested 52 gorgeous men from different countries around the world. He was also awarded as the Newest Urban Male Ambassador. This is the first time that the Philippines won the Manhunt International title in the 16th editions of the popular male pageant.

June Macasaet, a professional ramp model from Batangas, was second runner-up in this year’s Century Tuna Superbods contest and later won the Manhunt Philippines pageant.

The Filipino-Mexican American Idol runner up has closed a deal to join “Glee,” an American musical-drama television series, for a multi-episode arc before the season 4 ends. This was disclosed by various entertainment reports, including TVLine.

The role Jessica Sanchez will supposedly play in the television series has not yet been revealed. However, there are rumors that her character will be the new love interest for Finn, which is now Rachel’s ex-boyfriend in Glee Season 4.

Sanchez is the 3rd celebrity with Filipino blood to land recurring roles in Glee. The international singing sensation Charice Pempengco was the first one who had several appearances in Glee season 2. The second was Filipino-Irish Darren Criss, now a regular cast-member of “Glee” for the role of Blaine.

‘Rise of the Guardians’ new character posters released

Six new character posters for the upcoming animated-fantasy-adventure film 'Rise of the Guardians has been released.

“Rise of the Guardians” is an epic and magical adventure based on William Joyce's The Guardians of Childhood book series. It centers the story of Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, the Sandman, and Jack Frost. When the Nightmare King known as Pitch plans to take the world in darkness, the Guardians must join forces to protect the hopes, beliefs and imagination of children everywhere.

Rise of the Guardians features the voices of Chris Pine, Isla Fisher, Alec Baldwin, Hugh Jackman, and Jude Law.

The animated film is scheduled to open on November 21, 2012.

Enrique Iglesias offered to join as 'American Idol' judge

Latin heartthrob Enrique Iglesias has been offered a contract to judge the "American Idol" Season 12.

According to a report, the singer has been given the chance to join Mariah Carey--the only person confirmed as the new judge in the American Idol--when the twelfth season of the show is set to begin few weeks from now. He has been offered $4 million to judge on the talent search show.

Veteran judge Randy Jackson is thought to be stepping into supporting role--more like of a mentor role--for the Season 12. Nicki Minaj, on the other hand, is rumored to be close to signing a deal. But Minaj is still undecided as she told E! news: "I don't know yet. I really don't know. I have no comment on it."

‘Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters’ trailer released

The trailer for the movie “Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters” has been released. The action, comedy, horror film is the continuation of the dark fairy tale as both Hansel and Gretel are now grown ups.

“Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters” stars Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton in titular role together with Peter Stormare and Famke Janssen as the leader of a coven of evil witches.

Here is the plot of the movie: 15 years after their traumatic incident that involved in gingerbread-house, siblings Hansel and Gretel have evolved into a formidable team of bounty hunters who track and exterminate witches.

Directed by Tommy Wirkola, “Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters” is scheduled to open in theaters on January 11, 2012.
