8 Hours, 10 Chocolate Martinis, and Buff Menz at The Abbey, West Hollywood

This was the epic day we literally spent 8 hours at the Abbey. We stopped by for a casual lunch, and before long it was dark and we were surrounded by muscle men who all seemed to have misplaced their clothing. Amelia and I were trying to figure out if sitting in a bar for 8 hours makes us losers or champions. I’ll take champions!

Absolute favorite thing in the world is The Abbey’s chocolate martinis. We must have had 10 each! But we’re not alcoholics because like I said, this was all spaced out within 8 hours! Don’t judge!

I found a berry and told Izzy it was mistletoe so he’d kiss me.

It didn’t happen.

A rhinestone fell off Izzy’s phone case, and we used it to play tiny ouija board. There are Sugarpill flyers all over the table because I like to embarrass my friends by telling bartenders, waiters and strangers, “Did you know my friend here is a model? Look, it says so right here on this flyer.”

Alcuin got off work and joined us. Lunch was over, it was now dinner, and we were still there.

Magical Rainbow Fun with Friends at Golden Gopher

One dead and quiet Sunday night, we decided to dress up and paint the town rainbow. But everything was closed. So we ended up at Golden Gopher, which was a totally awesome find because it’s gorgeous inside, we were the only people there and had the entire club to ourselves!

Me, Jessica, Zoe, Amelia, and Yume loiter around the photo booth. Adding to the weird deadness of the night, the photo booth was broken.

Since the photo booth didn’t work, we just stood by it and used our own cameras. Which brings me to ask: Why is everyone so obsessed with photo booths?! Considering how many cameras the average person has these days, including the one on your phone, photo booths confuse me. Especially since only one person gets to keep it afterwards.

The “Young & Free” Exhibit at 941 Geary Gallery in San Francisco Was Fun

The “Young & Free” exhibit at 941 Geary Gallery featured new work by 13 Australian street artists. It was our first time checking out this gallery, and we loved it! Nice and spacious, non-snooty crowd, and food truck parked out back. Woo!

J-POP Summit Festival 2011 with Locketship and Miss Alphabet, I love h.Naoto, I’m on Instagram and Tumblr!

One of my favorite street fairs every year is JPop Summit Fest, which takes place in Japantown at the end of summer. Friends, food, fashion, and booze extravaganza! Last year’s was extra special because I didn’t have to work. The previous year, Sugarpill did makeup for the ginormous 6%DOKIDOKI fashion show, which was super fun but didn’t leave us much time to check out any of the booths. I was also excited because this year my friends Miss Alphabet and Locketship were both vending, so I was ready to get my shop on!

After the fair ended, Bebe wanted a tattoo so we headed over to Let it Bleed tattoo, where Tess’s roommate Justin works.

True story: That morning, I decided to weigh myself before and after accessories. The answer is 2 pounds. Truth be told, I kinda overdid it that day (if there is such a thing) because I was long overdue for a hair appointment and needed to hide my 3-inch roots. Hairbows by Pursebuzz, Chubby Bunny, and Cutie Dynamite!

Bebe likes to write notes on her arm, so she got a sheet of notepaper tattooed.

Afterward, we walked across the street for Thai food yummies. Josh asked an innocent question about how to retweet something. The 8 of us decided to show him all at once, resulting in THIS MESS. I feel sorry for anyone who is our friend on Twitter and had this be their timeline for hours! Not only did a bunch of people end up unfriending us, a fellow diner at the restaurant got so mad at our laughing that he stormed across the room to our table and told us all to shut it. We laughed even harder and tweeted about it. Then RT’d.

Finally leaving the restaurant, much to the relief of everyone else in there.

Josh got cold and put on his sweater. Strangers who walked past thought he had no pants on, so we all played along and pretended to be disgusted and frightened by this half-naked stranger.

Jpop fest continued the next day, with a private party for h.Naoto. To secure my admission into the party so I could meet him, I spent $700 at the store the previous day, only to find out they weren’t even checking tickets at the door. Oh wells, I did get to meet him, and lots of cute clothes for me! I got this dress and blinged it out with my new Locketship and Zambicandy pins. I’m not used to wearing so much fabric… I feel weird. Look how happy I am because I love him and how little he gives a shit about me here hahahaha. That’s okay, I know I am a creeper!

Weekend with Lumi: KMFDM at the Regency Ballroom, Dinner Party at Jonathan’s House

Beautiful Lumi was in San Francisco for the weekend, so we decided to have ourselves a fun-filled time.

We went to the Regency Ballroom to see KMFDM. I am totally sucking in my guts in fit into my new stripper dress from Trashy! Lumi is wearing her Onch meat-lace. Gross but so appropriate! Lumi is the only person I know who snacks on and craves raw meat constantly.

How anyone keeps an all-white bar this clean is a miracle.

KMFDM was awesome as always. Sorry for the shit photo quality!

Afterward, we went to Sparky’s for late night eats. My favorite 24-hour diner in SF!

The following night, Jonathan hosted a dinner party at his house. We enjoyed a delicious home-cooked, candlelit meal by Chef Lumi!

Sugarpill at IMATS 2011 with Queen of Blending, Day Two!

After surviving the frenzy of IMATS Day 1, we were well prepared for equal amounts of chaotic fun the following day.

Our booth babe for the day, Lauren/Queen of Blending! We staged a wife swap with Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics that weekend. The day prior, we had Josh/Petrilude at our booth, while OCC had Lauren. On Sunday we traded. Doing joint custody the right way!

Cleaning up our booth at the end of the day was bittersweet. We were relieved to finally be able to relax after being on our feet for 8 hours, but also sad that IMATS was officially over.

…because we were all barefoot or in flip flops the minute the convention ended.

We ran into Kandee Johnson in the lobby on our way back to our room. She was with her family, and they were all so fun and nice!

Finally resting from a long, crazy day. Glasses and comfy clothes time! (Ugh… Just typing that caption made my ADD kick in, and I immediately began to wonder whatever happened to the store “Clothestime.” Bankrupt in 2003, according to Google. You’re welcome for that very important piece of information.)

After getting some rest, we headed over to Kings Row for the world’s lamest dinner. The server took our drink orders, then disappeared for 25 minutes (Michelle timed it, haha). We got up to search for him, but he was nowhere to be found, even though the restaurant was empty. We asked another server to find him for us. Ten minutes later (35 minutes total) our server returned and asked what we needed. We told him we were still waiting for our drinks from 35 minutes ago and that we were ready to order food. It was super obvious he had forgotten about us entirely, but instead of admitting it, he told us the restaurant was sold out of every single drink we ordered and that’s why he never came back. A bar selling out of alcohol… Weird, but we were willing to drop it because we were so hungry and just wanted to order food. But then he quickly disappeared again without taking our food order, and the hunt for our server began all over again. We waited 2 hours total for our food, and when it came, it was cold and yucky.

And I just noticed that the guys at the table behind us have drinks, heeeeey!

But the fun doesn’t end there. Midway through dinner, Kevin felt something tickle on his neck. IT WAS A MOTHERFUCKING COCKROACH. I know angry people like to make up stories about cockroaches at restaurants, but I swear I’m not mad, and we have NINE witnesses at our table. He quickly swatted it off, but we didn’t see where it went. We ate the rest of our meal in fear and left as quickly as possible.

As we were walking out of the restaurant, we figured out what happened to the cockroach. Are you sitting down for this? THE COCKROACH WAS IN LAUREN’S PETTICOAT. A COCKROACH THAT WAS ON KEVIN’S NECK BURROWED INTO LAUREN’S PETTICOAT AND STAYED THERE FOR THE DURATION OF OUR MEAL. Piercing screams were heard throughout Pasadena as the ginormous cockroach fell out of Lauren’s skirt, scurried away from us, then paused, turned around, and ran TOWARDS us. We all ran down the street in absolute hysterics.

Then we came back and took a picture for proof because there’s no way anyone would believe us how big this jerk was! For size reference, I’ve been told that I have an unusually large head. But look how tiny my head is next to this cockroach!

We crashed at Jessica’s house that night. In the morning, I totally busted Kevin and Scurvy being cute.

Well, that’s officially the last of my IMATS 2011 photos! We are so excited for IMATS 2012 — only 3 months away! We got a double booth this year, so that means we get to be twice as obnoxious and colorful as last year!

Sugarpill at IMATS 2011 Day One Ginormous Picture Post!

Sugarpill’s first year exhibiting at IMATS was the most incredible, magical, exhilarating, intense, wonderfully insane experience EVER. The Pasadena show is the world’s biggest makeup event with a sold-out attendance of 8,000 guests per DAY. We had an amazing time meeting our internet friends from all over the world and making new ones. It is so surreal seeing hundreds of people you recognize from Youtube and beauty blogs, in the flesh, all under one roof. Everyone was so nice!

It was so busy, we hardly had time for bathroom or food breaks. So we perfected the art of “Squat facing the corner while stuffing your face with fistful of fries at lightning speed.”

Do you suffer from claustrophobia? If so, IMATS is not for you. Oh yeah and the A/C was broken, and it was a 10,000-degree summer day in Pasadena. Fun times!

Josh pretty much spent the day getting mobbed. This was hilarious to everyone except for our neighbors at Hakuhodo brushes, whose booth got taken over by people trying to take pictures of Josh. The owner told us to move Josh because we were “causing a spectacle!!” Michelle apologized profusely in Japanese and even bowed for extra brownie points. We felt really bad! Everyone should check out Hakuhodo brushes. Josh says they are completely amazing and some of his favorites ever!
