While most of us are in dreamland, Miyuki Watanabe is burning the midnight oil at her patisserie and chocolaterie La Petite Rose. From 6pm to about 4am the chef and her team whip up colorful macarons, delectable chocolates, and pastries that are so delicious master sweet maker Pierre Herme claims it as one of his favorite spots in Paris.

Watanabe who is from Japan's Hyogo prefecture made her way to Paris to study sweets a la francais with renown pastry chef and chocolatier Gerard Mulot. The chocolate brown and sweet pink tones that decorate La Petite Rose- Miyuki's favorite colors- give off a warm, feminine feel.

Jazz pipes through the speakers as I nibble samples and chat with the chef who's getting ready to celebrate 9 years of chocolate making bliss here this year. I sampled the best selling "praline feuilletée noir"-nutty with a soft and crunchy, the smoky green tea flavored "macha ganache", and the "the Earl Grey" ganache sprinkled with dried lavender. As a chocoholic, it was hard to stop at just a few bites.

The other La Petit Rose favorite- a Mont Blanc mountain of chesnut, cream and meringue encased in a chocolate sable crust was calling my name with more calories than I want to get near before fashion week. But I will be back! For now, I'll have to get my chocolate fix from shu's new Chocolate-Donna collection!

Upcoming photographer and 2nd shu uemura art award recipient, Mr. Jiro Konami, photographs the beautiful Kiko Mizuhara for the cover of GINZA magazine.

With a growing body of impressive work, including shoots with Ryuichi Sakomoto, YMO, Eikichi Yazawa, Kaori Mochida, Ko Shibasaki and the jacket for Ikimonogatari's 23rd single Haruuta, Jiro Konami has proven himself to be a hot young photographer with a wealth of talent.

He was also recently asked to shoot Kiko Mizuhara for the cover of GINZA magazine in a homage to famed Japanese actress Setsuko Hara, who ruled the screens in more than 100 films from around 1930 to 1960. Shoe designer Masaya Kushino's new collection could be called more baroque sculpture than high heel. Even still, the Autumn/Winter 2012/2013's "Queen" is what Kushino calls a wearable collection. There may only 5 designs but there is a lot to take in.

The craftsman sets his sights on the most iconic beauty of all, royal beauty for a kind of Victorian shoe fairy tale. Shoes have names like "Queen of the Dark"- an aged black leather platform with corset-like laces riding up to a fur and bead trimmed mane around the ankle;

TSUYA skin PR event held in Singapore

On June 26^th, Singapore team held TSUYA PR event at Fullerton Bay Hotel, one of the luxurious hotel located in the Marina Bay waterfront of Singapore. Around 60 guests including media from Singapore and Malaysia has participated the event to share the exciting moment of TSUYA skin launch.

Ms. Shaoyuan Han, brand manager introduced the product information,

and the key highlight of the event was the presentation by Ms. Nahoko Nakashima, skincare development manager who was invited from Japan to share the secret of the technology of TSUYA skin.

Ms. Nakashima explained the skin's youth power switch mechanism, amazing test results, and answered to media's question about TSUYA's technology.

"Kawauchi Rinko: Illuminance, Ametsuchi, Seeing Shadow" at The Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography features 80 works, among them greatest hits from the "Illuminance" series- her zoomed-in serenely poetic meditations on daily life. Newer works are larger than life studies of heaven and earth. Black cosmos and burning fields show a darker side of nature.

Kawauchi also knows a thing or two about editing- she started her career with a series of photo books in the early 2000's that propelled her to the international stage with a solo show at the prestigious Cartier Foundation in Paris, and the Infinity Award from the International Center of Photography. "Illuminance", published last year, got her shortlisted for the 2012 Deutsche Börse Photography Prize.

In addition to releasing a new book entitled "Light and Shadow" this month, on July 1 the artist expanded her repertoire with a series of photo books on scrolls which she created live on site at Limart book store in Tokyo.

For "Approaching Whiteness" Kawauchi selected a series of images which participants at the venue could then shuffle into different edits and then watch as they were silkscreened on washi paper, finished with brushstroke and then placed in a custom-made Paulownia box. At only 10,500 yen these are a steal! For those of you unable to make it to Tokyo (or to buy an actual print), these exquisite limited edition objects are available on-line.

Hi everyone,
I had fun working on a shoot with Thomas Paquet to celebrate the first edition of a new magazine called 7000. I created four make-up looks assisted by Yumiko Yamamoto and Haydn Jones.

The overall theme was high flying birds, and the first page features make-up under the title colourful feathers, another courtship. This was inspired by why birds have such beautiful wings.

Purple leaves—"hiding is to enhance."

Incredible feather lashes resemble the wings of a jewel beetle—"a gorgeous fur coat for the eyes."

Rose petal—"We often compare women's beauty to roses."

Hi everyone
To celebrate The Queen's Jubilee, Harrods of London commissioned designers from the worlds of fashion, beauty, jewellery and cuisine to create an elaborate crown. shu uemura was honored to be selected as the only cosmetics brand to take part in this grand project.

In designing this crown, I thought it necessary to deeply honor dignity; it should also be awe-inspiring and bring eternal peace, rather than just be "gorgeous." And this design should be new and like nothing ever seen before. As my job is about creating colors, black came to mind. As far as I know the best black color is seen in traditional Japanese lacquer-ware. So on a surface of layered Japanese lacquer, I used delicate golden Maki-e, in a fusion of Japanese beauty and tradition with the regal crown—a core symbol of British culture. I believe this is the first of its type ever.

As an expert in women's beauty, we deeply admire The Queen and her unflagging spirit, and take inspiration from her reign; we hope we can similarly serve as a beacon of light for women all over the globe.

A quasi art collector-I still have many of the ultra-kawaii packages from artist Aya Takano's "Abracadabra Fantasy" collection collaboration with shu uemura from a couple of years ago. Takano is part of Kaikai Kiki, the art production, management company founded and run by famed artist Takashi Murakami. Takano was missing from the event but Murakami selected a handful of other well known and emerging artists from his factory of Japanese pop. Favorite Chiho Aoshima displayed the cherub-like sculpture "Lotus Child"; Chinatsu Ban showed two prominent acrcylic paintings including 2008's "The Creatures That Grew From That Rain". The world of color and Japanese pop-culture continued with high school student Akane Koide's two pieces in watercolor and pen-each under coming in at about 2500 dollars (Do I make the jump from cosmetic case collector to the real deal?).

This was the second Maco appearance in a row for Kaikai Kiki who expanded their booth to double the size showcasing 9 artists, coincidentally only 2 were men Yoshiyasu Tamura and Suzukazu Suzuki. Just as a gaggle of pre-teens wandered into the space-trailed by their parents-to take photos of the art work, Kaikai Kiki's spokesperson Nao Tazaki chalked up the art's standout appeal at the fair to the fact that it seems to strike a chord for the entire family.

The fair featured mostly Latin American galleries like Mexico City's Galeria OMR and Kurimanzutto, but there were other stellar showings by London's Sadie Coles and Brancolini Grimaldi, and Austria's Mario Mauroner Contemporary Art. Some work was a little too conceptual for its own good, but that doesn't matter when the fair is drawing massive amounts of visitors-each day I visited the fair it was packed. Parisian art duo, and frequent Mexico City visitors, Kolkoz put their time in after hours for a jazzy DJ set at M.N. Roy to help wind down the event filled week.

As a foreigner living in Tokyo, how has Japan changed your beauty, lifestyle routine?
Nearly every woman I see in Tokyo is impeccably dressed from head to toe, which has inspired me to put more effort into everyday wear. My nail care is something I've really gotten into as of late. I use to bite my nails all the time, but recently I got my nails done in Tokyo for the first time (with rhinestones and glitter) and I love it! I feel so much more put-together. I've been more attentive to details about all-around beauty, and I'm very thankful for that.

What are your favorite shu uemura products?
I do cat-eyes nearly everyday, so definitely the liquid eyeliner from shu uemura is an essential in my make-up bag. Another favorite would have to be the eye and cheek palette "Burning in Water" (love the name!) from the Wong Kar Wai collaboration holiday collection. I'm a big fan of Wong Kar Wai's films, so of course I had to have it!

What are the make-up looks that you are into at the moment-any personal obsessions for spring?
I really love the minimal eye makeup with strong, bold red lips. It's very sensual, but natural. Of course, cat-eye will always be a favorite no matter what season. It's a look that can be nearly worn by anyone. Personally, I've been one for eyebrows. I believe Tom Ford said that a woman's defining feature on her face is her eyebrows, and I couldn't agree more. I also really like make-up from the Louis Vuitton S/S 12 runway: extra-long lashes, pale pink lips and dewy skin. A fresh faced look is always good for Spring.

What is your skin care regime?
I don't really have a strict regime. I'm really blessed in the skin department thanks to my mother. I try not wear foundation everyday, so as not to clog my pores. For moisturizing and washing my face, I like to switch between different brands because I believe that skin can get used to a product if used over a long period of time, basically loosing its effect. I believe the key to healthy skin is good diet and sleep. So, I try to drink plenty of water (I know we've all heard it before) and try to eat fresh foods, taking Omega 3 oils and sleeping at the right times (not too late and around 7-8 hours of Z's is plenty good). A unique part of my regime is that I drink royal jelly every morning to promote clear skin, strong nails and shiny hair.

What are some of your lifestyle musts-sleep, exercise, baths, specific foods?

Sleep and diet is essential in living a healthy lifestyle; however, I don't believe in crazy diets since they only ever last for awhile and there's always a rebound. I believe many small meals through out the day is beneficial in helping me feel more energized and happy. As for what I eat, I'm not strict on that either. I try to use common sense with my eating. Obviously a cake isn't the same as a carrot, but if I choose to have a cake I never feel guilty about eating it afterwards. I've recently started training with a personal trainer here in Tokyo, so I can get to my beach body goal by this summer. The key lesson I've learned in my training sessions is that body alignment is essential. Not only during my exercises, but I really try to keep good posture outside of the gym.

the Art Award Tokyo Marunouchi, an exhibition designed to identify and provide support young artist from Tokyo to the world, marking its sixth year, exhibiting 30 fascinating art works of young talented artists in Gyoko Underground gallery in Marunouchi, Tokyo from 28th April to 27th May.

Celebrating this exhibition, award ceremony and opening party is held on Saturday April 28that café ease on 1st floor of Marunouchi building.

Kakuyasu Uchiide, shu uemura international artistic director will be the judge this year, and will decide the 4th winner to shu uemura art award.

TAO joins rouge unlimited PR event in Hong Kong!

New rouge unlimited PR event was held at ifc mall, one of the major shopping mall in Hong Kong. 136 local media joined the event to share the exciting moment of the new rouge unlimited launch, and also the long-awaited unveil of TAO our new beauty ambassador.

Yuji Asano, our international chief make-up artist was invited as a special guest, to perform a make-up demonstration, to create a sweet and innocent look using PK340 which is named "darling pink" in Hong Kong.

TAO and Asano-san's talk session was held, and they shared behind the scene stories of the shooting, and also their excitement to new rouge unlimited launch with the media.
