The moment someone opens your page, their eyes naturally go to those circles under your bio. That’s why using them the right way can instantly make your profile look more organised and professional.

In this article, you’ll learn exactly how to create Instagram Highlights, step by step, and what kind of Highlights every artist should have on their profile.

Let’s get into it.

Why Instagram Highlights Matter for Artists

Artists usually focus on posts and reels — which is great — but Highlights are the place where your most important information permanently lives.

They sit right at the top of your profile, and anyone who clicks them can understand:

What kind of art you create

How professional you are

Whether you take commissions

What buyers or students think about your work

Whether your art has been recognized anywhere

As an artist, these things matter. A buyer, gallery owner, curator, or even a student scrolling through your profile relies on Highlights to understand your journey and your credibility.

What Highlights Actually Are

Normally, Instagram stories disappear after 24 hours.
But when you save them to a Highlight, they stay on your profile forever — unless you remove them.

For artists, this is extremely useful. You get to pick the stories that represent your art and your journey the best, and turn them into organized categories.

How Highlights Help You Look Professional

Think of your Highlights like labelled sections in an art exhibition:

Artworks

Commissions

Reviews

Exhibitions

Digital Art

Media Coverage

Anyone opening your profile gets a clear idea of who you are as an artist.
Instead of scrolling through dozens of posts, they see your most important work instantly. And this tells them — without you saying it — that you take your practice seriously.

Step-by-Step Guide: How to Create Instagram Highlights

Here is a simple walkthrough you can follow.

Step 1: Open Your Instagram App

Make sure you’re logged into your professional artist profile.

Step 2: Go to Your Profile Menu

Tap the three-line (≡) icon in the top-right corner. This opens your profile settings.

Step 3: Open the Archive Section

Tap on “Archive.” Instagram automatically saves all your story uploads here — even if they are no longer visible on your profile

Step 4: Select Stories You Want to Save

Scroll through your archived stories.

Tap the story you want to add to your Highlight.

This could be:

An artwork process video

A sketch

A finished painting

Client feedback

Media coverage

A workshop photo

Choose only the stories you want people to see permanently.

Step 5: Add the Story to a Highlight

Tap the “Highlight” option at the bottom of the story. This will show you a list of your existing Highlights.

Step 6: Create a New Highlight with a Clear Name

To create a new Highlight:

Click the “+ New” option

Add the selected story

Give the Highlight a clear, simple name

For example:

“Artworks”

“Client Feedback”

“Commissions”

“Media”

“Exhibitions”

“Events”

Avoid confusing or fancy names that people might not understand. The goal is clarity.

Must-Have Highlights for an Artist’s Profile

Here are the Highlights every professional artist should consider adding:

1. Artworks

This is where you show your finished pieces, your prints, or any artwork you want viewers to notice immediately.

Why This Highlight Matters

Anyone visiting your profile should quickly understand your style, medium, and artistic direction.

What to Include

Clear pictures of your artworks

Title or short description

Whether the artwork is available

Optional: Price or “DM to buy”

This saves your audience from searching your entire feed.

2. Client Feedback / Reviews

Your art may speak for itself, but social proof builds trust.
Include:

Screenshots of client messages

Reviews from buyers

Testimonials from students

Simple appreciation stories

Even One Review Helps

Even if you have just one feedback story — add it. It instantly adds credibility.

3. Media Coverage

If your work has been featured anywhere — online or offline — this is the place to show it.

Showcasing Industry Recognition

Media coverage tells people:

Your work has been noticed

Your art has value

Your journey is growing professionally

This is especially important for students or young artists building their portfolio.

4. Exhibitions & Events

If you’ve:

Participated in exhibitions

Set up stalls

Conducted workshops

Attended art fairs

Spoken in college events

These stories belong here.

Highlighting Your Artistic Journey

Adding stories from different years shows how your practice has grown over time.

People love seeing progress — it speaks louder than any introduction.

Why Relevant Highlights Strengthen Your Profile

Avoiding Irrelevant Stories

Your Highlights should not look like a mix of random content. Irrelevant stories make your profile look unorganized and unprofessional.

Keeping Your Profile Clean and Professional

Buyers don’t want to scroll through unrelated personal content. They want clarity — your art, your journey, your credibility.
So keep your Highlights focused and meaningful.

Final Thoughts

Instagram Highlights are not just decorative circles on your profile — they are an essential part of your identity as an artist.

By creating structured, useful, and relevant Highlights, you give your audience:

A clear look at your art

Your work history

Your achievements

Your professionalism

This small step can make your entire profile look more polished and trustworthy.

In the next part of this series, we’ll dive into what kinds of stories you should add to your Highlights if you want to sell your artworks.

Stay tuned!

These tiny circles sitting right below your bio can completely transform how buyers, galleries, and new audiences perceive your profile.
If you're an artist trying to build a strong online presence, you must understand how highlights work and why they matter.

Let’s dive into the complete, beginner-friendly guide to Instagram Highlights for artists.

What Are Instagram Highlights?

Instagram Highlights are simply your best or most important Stories saved permanently on your profile. Normally, Instagram Stories disappear after 24 hours — but Highlights allow you to save selected stories forever.

Think of them as a curated mini-website sitting on your Instagram page.

Why Instagram Introduced Highlights

Instagram created Highlights for people who wanted their most important content to be available for longer than 24 hours. For artists, this is a blessing — because your art, process, announcements, and achievements deserve to stay visible.

How Stories Turn Into Highlights

The process is simple:

Post a Story

Tap “Highlight”

Choose an existing Highlight folder or create a new one

And boom - that story becomes a permanent part of your profile.

Why Highlights Matter for Artists

As an artist, your Instagram profile is more than a social page — it's your digital portfolio, your professional identity, and often your first impression to buyers or galleries.

This is exactly why highlights matter so much.

Highlights vs Regular Stories

Regular Stories disappear.
Highlights stay.
And for an artist, that permanence is powerful.

Buyers don’t want to scroll endlessly to figure out who you are or what your work looks like. They want quick, clear information and Highlights deliver exactly that.

The Role of Highlights in Building a Professional Art Profile

Highlights instantly tell your audience:

What kind of art you make

How your journey has evolved

What services you offer

How they can buy from you

What your past work looks like

This clarity builds confidence and makes your profile look professional.

Giving Buyers Quick Access to Important Info

A potential buyer might land on your profile and think:

Do they take commissions?

What styles do they work in?

How do I place an order?

What does their previous work look like?

Instead of digging or messaging, they check your highlights.
If your Highlights answer these questions clearly, you are more likely to convert a visitor into a buyer.

Showcasing Your Artistic Journey

Highlights allow you to showcase:

Before-and-after progress

Old to new artworks

Behind-the-scenes processes

Workshops you attended or taught

This paints a picture of your growth and dedication — something every serious art buyer looks for.

Common Mistakes Artists Make With Instagram Highlights

Most artists either don’t use highlights or use them incorrectly.
Here are the mistakes you should avoid:

Saving Random Stories

Personal selfies, random outings, or unrelated memes - these don’t belong in artist Highlights. It confuses your audience and reduces professionalism.

Highlighting Irrelevant Content

Your Highlights should not feel cluttered or filled with unrelated stories. When a buyer lands on your profile and sees random, off-topic content, it weakens your professional image and makes your profile look messy. Keep your Highlights focused on your art and your work as an artist so visitors immediately understand what you offer.

What You SHOULD Put in Your Artist Highlights

This is where Highlights become a game-changer for your art career.

1) Showcase Your Art Portfolio

Create Highlights like:

Artworks

Sketches

Paintings

Digital Art

These display your creativity instantly.

Completed Projects

Share your finished artworks with clean, clear photos and a bit of context if needed. Showing the final result helps viewers quickly understand your style and the kind of work you create.

Work-in-Progress Saves

These clips allow viewers to understand your process - and when they see the effort behind your art, they value it more.

2) Sellable Artworks & Pricing

If you sell prints or originals, create a Highlight named:

For Sale

Art Prints

Available Works

Include price, size, medium, and order instructions.

3) Workshops & Training Information

If you teach offline or online workshops:

Add dates

Add topics

Add fees

Showcase past workshop clips

This instantly builds credibility.

4) Commission Details & Process

Have a dedicated Highlight named “Commission Info”:
Include:

How to place an order

Types of artworks you accept

Estimated timelines

Payment details

Buyers appreciate clarity before messaging you.

How Highlights Build Trust & Authenticity

A new viewer should understand who you are within seconds of visiting your profile. Highlights help them do that.

Helping Buyers Understand Your Work

When buyers see:

your style

your techniques

your experience

your past work

your professional approach

they trust you more.

Building Credibility as an Artist

Consistent, well-organized Highlights show:

you take your work seriously

you are committed to your craft

you care about presenting your art professionally

This credibility separates hobbyists from professional artists.

Final Thoughts

Instagram Highlights may look small, but they’re incredibly powerful. For artists, they act almost like a digital portfolio, helping you showcase your art, share your journey, and communicate important details instantly. When used strategically, highlights can improve your professional image, build trust, and attract genuine buyers.

So the next time you open Instagram, don’t just scroll. Start curating your Highlights like the mini-portfolio they are meant to be.

Your art deserves to be seen - make sure your highlights help you tell that story.

“People Already See My Posts — So Why Do I Need a Bio?”

That’s where most artists go wrong!
Your Instagram bio isn’t just decoration — it’s a key tool for discovery.
The Instagram algorithm actually uses the words in your bio to decide who sees your profile.

So, if someone searches for “folk artist” or “portrait commissions”, Instagram shows them profiles that contain those words in the bio.
That’s why writing a clear, keyword-rich bio isn’t optional — it’s essential.

The Role of Instagram Algorithm and Keywords

Think of your bio as your profile’s SEO (Search Engine Optimization).
When you use the right keywords related to your art — like “Gond painter,” “art prints,” “watercolor artist,” — you increase your chances of appearing in search results.
In short: your bio = your discoverability.

What Makes a Strong Artist Bio on Instagram

Let’s break down the 5 main parts of a powerful Instagram bio.

Step 1: Clearly State Who You Are

Avoid generic labels like “Artist.” That doesn’t tell anyone what kind of art you do.
Your first line should clearly say your medium, style, or theme.

Example: Define Your Medium and Style

- Indian Folk Artist
- Watercolour Landscape Artist
- Fine Art Portraitist
- Digital Artist Exploring Emotions

Being specific instantly sets the tone and attracts the right audience — the ones who actually love your kind of art.

Step 2: Tell People What You Offer

Once people know who you are, they should quickly know what you do or what they can get from your profile.
Do you take commissions? Sell prints? Conduct workshops? Mention it clearly.

Example: Mention Commissions, Prints, or Workshops

- Commissions open | Prints available
- Workshops on Madhubani Art | DM to join
- Original artworks for sale | Custom portraits on request

This one line can make a big difference — it converts visitors into potential clients or students.

Step 3: Add a Link

Instagram allows only one clickable link in your bio — so make it count!

What Type of Link Should You Use

If you have:

A portfolio or website, add that link.

If you sell art through platforms like Etsy, Shuruart, or Instagram Shop, link to your product page.

Conducting workshops or taking commissions? Use a Google Form or Linktree to make connecting easy.

Your link is your call-to-action — it tells followers what to do next.

Step 4: Use the Right Keywords

This is the secret sauce most artists forget.
Instagram’s algorithm scans bios to decide which profiles to suggest.
So if someone searches for “portrait artist”, the algorithm recommends profiles that contain those exact words.

Why Keywords Matter for Visibility

Your bio should include 2–3 relevant and specific keywords.
Think of what your audience might search for — like:

Gond art

portrait artist

art prints

custom paintings

art workshops

These tiny words can make a huge difference in how visible your page becomes.

Step 5: Keep It Short (150 Characters Only)

Instagram gives you 150 characters — that’s not much!
So every word must earn its place. Keep it short, sharp, and searchable.

Avoid writing long sentences or filling it with emojis. Your goal is clarity, not decoration.

Using AI to Write a Professional Instagram Bio

If you’ve already written your artist statement, you can use AI tools like ChatGPT or Gemini to convert it into a short, SEO-friendly Instagram bio.

Share Your Artist Statement with AI

Send your artist statement and 2–3 sample artworks to AI — so it understands your art style and tone. Also, tell it clearly: “Instagram bio must be under 150 characters.”

Sample AI Prompt for Artists

Here’s a ready-to-use prompt you can copy and tweak:

“My name is Priti, and I’m a visual artist. I work in the Cubism style and explore themes of urban life, emotions, and identity. I also sell my artworks. Please write a strong and professional Instagram bio within 150 characters. What else do you need from me to make it better?”

The more details you share, the more personalized and authentic your bio will sound.

Pro Tips for a Powerful Artist Bio

Refresh Your Bio Regularly

Update it whenever you:

Launch a new collection

Start a workshop series

Begin commissions or sales

Keeping it fresh tells Instagram your profile is active.

Match Bio with Visuals

Your bio should match your art style and overall grid vibe.
If your tone is earthy and cultural, keep your bio warm and descriptive.
If it’s modern and digital, go crisp and minimal.

Keep Tone Consistent with Your Brand

Your bio should sound like you. If your art is bold, your words should feel bold too.
Consistency builds recognition.

Conclusion

Your Instagram bio is small — just 150 characters — but it’s mighty powerful.
It’s what tells the algorithm who you are and why your art matters.
It’s what helps the right people — art buyers, curators, and followers — discover you.

So, keep it clear, keyword-rich, and professional.
And if writing feels tricky, use AI as your creative assistant — not to replace your voice, but to refine it.

Because in today’s digital art world, a strong bio isn’t optional — it’s your first step toward visibility and credibility.

Your Facebook Bio is your first impression — a small but mighty line that tells people who you are, what you do, and why they should follow your work.

Personal vs Professional Profile: What’s the Difference

Why You Need a Separate Artist Page

Many artists make the mistake of sharing their work only on their personal profiles. While that’s fine for friends and family, a professional artist page gives your art a clear identity.
It tells the audience — this is not just a hobby, it’s a creative career.

When you create a dedicated artist page, you build a focused space where everything revolves around your art: your style, your journey, and your offers.

How It Helps Build Your Artistic Identity

Think of your artist page as your digital studio — a space that reflects your artistic soul.
It’s where people come to understand your story, your inspiration, and your style. Having a clean, well-written Bio there helps visitors instantly know what makes your art special.

What Makes Facebook Bio So Important

Your Facebook Bio is the headline of your artistic story. It’s often the first thing a visitor reads.
And when written strategically, it helps Facebook and Google understand what your page is about.

The Role of Keywords in Your Bio

If someone searches for “Madhubani artist,” “portrait commissions,” or “folk art workshops,” they should be able to find you.
That’s where keywords come in.
Use words that describe your art style, medium, or niche — these make your page more searchable and help you reach your target audience.

How Your Bio Affects Search Visibility

Facebook’s internal search and even Google crawl through your bio text.
Including the right words like “Gond artist,” “digital painter,” “prints for sale,” or “custom art commissions” helps your profile appear in more searches.

Step-by-Step Guide: Writing the Perfect Artist Bio

Step 1: Clearly State Who You Are

The first thing your bio should do is tell people exactly who you are and what kind of art you create.
Avoid vague phrases like “Artist” or “Creative soul.” Instead, be specific.

Example: Defining Your Artistic Medium and Style

1) “Gond artist preserving tribal traditions”
2) “Digital portrait artist capturing human emotions”
3) “Watercolor painter inspired by nature’s calm”

Step 2: Tell People What Your Art Is About

Every artist has a message or a theme behind their art. Use one line to express that story or feeling.
What emotions or subjects do you explore? What do you want people to feel when they see your work?

Example: Communicating Emotion or Story

- “Telling cultural stories through symbolic art.”
- “Exploring the bond between humans and nature through color.”
- “Translating everyday emotions into digital brushstrokes.”

Step 3: Tell Viewers What You Offer

Your Facebook Bio isn’t just about identity — it’s also about opportunity.
Let people know how they can connect or buy from you.

Example: Commissions, Prints, or Workshops

- “Prints & commissions open — DM to connect.”
- “Workshops open | Limited edition prints available.”
- “DM for custom murals & exhibitions.”

These CTAs (calls-to-action) make it easy for your audience to reach out — and increase your chances of turning followers into buyers.

Step 4: Keep It Short and Clear

Understanding Facebook’s 101 Character Limit

Facebook gives you only 101 characters for your bio — so every word must count.
Your goal? To combine your identity, style, and offer in one crisp line.

Think of it like a creative challenge — how can you sum up your artistic world in one sentence?

Here’s a trick:
- Write 2–3 long versions of your bio first.
- Then trim them down to the most powerful words.
- Read it aloud — it should sound natural, not robotic.

How to Write a Facebook Bio Using AI

AI tools like ChatGPT or Gemini can help you refine your bio, but they’ll only work well if you give them good inputs.

Using Your Artist Statement as a Base

If you’ve already written your artist statement (a short summary of your journey, inspiration, and art style), you can share that with AI. Also, attach a few examples of your artworks. This helps AI understand your tone and aesthetic — making the bio sound more you.

Prompt Example to Get a Perfect Bio

Here’s a ready-to-use prompt you can copy, edit, and send to AI:

“My name is Avni, and I’m a visual artist. I create Gond paintings, sell art prints, and conduct workshops. I need a Facebook bio under 101 characters. What else do you need from me to make it perfect?”

The AI will then ask for more details — like your art themes, tone, and target audience — to generate a professional and keyword-rich Facebook bio.

Examples of Good Artist Facebook Bios

Let’s look at a few bio examples that combine clarity, emotion, and keywords effectively:

Folk Artist Example

“Gond artist sharing tribal stories | Prints available | DM for commissions.”

Digital Artist Example

“Digital painter exploring emotions through colors | Open for commissions.”

Sculptor Example

“Terracotta sculptor inspired by nature & mythology | DM for exhibitions & orders.”

These short bios instantly communicate the artist’s niche, personality, and offer — all within the character limit.

Common Mistakes Artists Make in Their Facebook Bio

Even the most talented artists sometimes miss the mark with their bios. Here are the top errors to avoid:

Being Too Generic

Just writing “Artist” or “Loves painting” doesn’t tell anyone what kind of art you do.
Be descriptive — think of it like tagging your art with your unique identity.

Missing the Call-to-Action (CTA)

If you don’t tell people how to connect (DM, visit link, join workshop), you lose potential opportunities.
A small phrase like “DM for commissions” can turn casual followers into clients.

Ignoring Keywords

Without keywords, your profile may stay invisible. Always include your art type — folk artist, watercolorist, digital creator, muralist, etc.

Tips for Updating Your Bio Regularly

Your bio isn’t something you write once and forget. Update it whenever:

You launch a new art series or collection.

You start offering prints or workshops.

You want to highlight a new exhibition or award.

Refreshing your bio keeps your profile relevant and tells Facebook’s algorithm that your page is active — improving visibility.

Pro tip: Keep a few versions of your bio saved. Rotate them based on what’s new or trending in your artistic journey.

Conclusion

Writing a perfect Facebook Bio as an artist isn’t about fancy words — it’s about clarity, connection, and creativity. When people visit your page, they should instantly know:

Who you are

What your art represents

How they can connect with you

A few powerful words can build trust, attract the right audience, and help your art get the visibility it deserves.

So, take a few minutes today — look at your current bio, tweak it using the steps above, or use AI to polish it.
Remember, your Facebook bio is more than a line — it’s your artistic identity, captured in words.

Why Is an Artist Statement Important?

Curators and viewers want to know:

What is the theme of your artwork?

When you write an artist statement for an exhibition, it should clearly explain all these points in a simple and engaging way.

Let’s look at the 4 main things to include:

1. Clearly Describe the Theme

What idea is your work based on?

Example:
“My theme is urban loneliness. I show people who feel alone, even in the middle of busy cities.”

2. Mention the Medium and Technique

What materials do you use? Do you follow any special process?

Example:
“I use acrylic paints and create bold textures using a palette knife, which helps me express emotions visually.”

3. Share Your Inspiration

Why did you make this series? Was it based on a personal experience, a social issue, or something you saw?

Example:
“During COVID, when everyone was locked inside their homes, I understood the importance of human connection - that became the base of my work.”

4. How Should People Feel When They See Your Work?

What do you want your viewers to feel, think, or reflect on when they look at your art?

Example:
“I want people to see my painting and feel the loneliness hidden in the lights of the city — and maybe become more sensitive towards others.”
Keep It Short and Clear

Try to write your artist statement in 100 to 150 words. It should be easy to read and understand — don’t use too many difficult words.

Use AI for Help (Optional)

If you're struggling to write it or want to make it more professional, you can also take help from AI tools like ChatGPT.
Here’s a prompt you can give to AI:

Prompt:
“My name is Avni. I create artworks based on the theme of urban loneliness. I’m planning an exhibition of my paintings. I need help writing a short artist statement that explains my theme, style, and thoughts behind the work - so that galleries can understand and connect with my work. What more details do you need from me?”

AI might ask you some simple questions - like your theme, medium, or inspiration, and then give you a clean and clear artist statement.

Watch our Art Marketing Series on YouTube for simple tips and examples made for artists.

While those versions introduce your work, a grant-specific artist statement must do much more. It should communicate your ideas, your creative vision, and how you plan to use the grant.

The selection committee isn’t just looking at your past—they want to understand where you're going and why your work matters. That’s why writing a strong, focused, and specific artist statement is essential.

Here’s how you can write one:

1. Start with a Clear Introduction to Your Work

Begin by explaining what medium you work in and what your work focuses on, using clear and professional language.

Example:
“I use watercolors to document the everyday life and work routines of rural women in India.”
This sentence immediately gives insight into the subject, medium, and intention of your art.

2. Explain the Inspiration Behind Your Work

Now dig deeper. Why do you do this kind of work? What ideas, experiences, or social themes inspire you? This part should express the core emotion or story behind your practice. It can be based on:

Personal memories or family experiences

A deep concern for social issues like climate change or gender equality

An internal journey like dealing with loneliness or hope

It’s okay if your art isn’t driven by a social cause - art as personal expression is just as valuable.

Example:
“My work is inspired by the stories I’ve heard from my grandmother and mother—stories of strength, struggle, and simplicity. Through my paintings, I want to highlight the unseen efforts of rural women and bring their world closer to the viewer.”

3. Clearly Outline Your Future Plans

This is the most crucial section for grant applications.
You need to answer:

What will you do with the grant?

How will it help your artistic growth?

What direction do you want your work to take after this?

Example:
1) Rekha Rodwittiya used the British Council Fellowship to pursue art education in the UK and later helped build an art community in India.

2) Gigi Scaria used the Inlaks Fine Arts Award to develop work around urbanization and migration, eventually exhibiting at prestigious international platforms like the Venice Biennale.

These examples show how grants can take your practice to the next level—mention how this grant fits into your bigger vision.

4. Keep the Tone Professional and Language Simple

Your statement shouldn’t sound too academic or too casual.
Use:

Simple yet focused language

Professional but approachable tone

Honest and thoughtful insights into your work
Avoid overcomplicating your statement with jargon. Instead, aim to connect with the reader through clarity and authenticity.

5. Use AI if You’re Unsure How to Start

If you're struggling with where to begin or how to structure your statement, AI tools like ChatGPT can help.

Try using a prompt like:

“My name is Awni and I’m an artist applying for [Name of Grant]. I need help writing a strong artist statement. What information do you need from me to get started?”

AI will guide you with questions that help you reflect on your practice and generate a compelling, grant-specific statement.

Writing an artist statement for a grant is more than just describing your art—it’s about showing your direction, purpose, and potential.

Take the time to reflect on your journey, clarify your future plans, and communicate them honestly. A powerful artist statement can open the door to new opportunities and recognition.

Want to learn how to write different versions of your artist statement for galleries, social media, websites, and more?
Watch our Art Marketing Series on YouTube for simple tips and examples made for artists.

When applying to an art gallery, museum, or creative organization, your artist bio becomes your first introduction. And if it's written well, it can position you as a strong candidate in the eyes of the employer.
In the previous blogs, we discussed how to shape your story as an artist. Now, let’s focus on writing a bio specifically tailored for professional opportunities.

1. Define What Kind of Artist You Are
The first step is to clearly communicate your art practice.
This helps employers understand how your skills align with their needs.

Example:
If you're a painter, mention whether you work in oil, watercolor, or digital media.

If you're a sculptor, clarify whether you work with wood, metal, clay, or mixed media.

Being specific makes your profile stronger and easier to assess.

2. Mention Any Relevant Experience
Whether it’s an internship, freelance project, or group exhibition, include it.
Experience shows growth, exposure, and commitment to your field.

Example:
“I participated in a group exhibition at Ka Art Gallery showcasing my abstract paintings.”

“I completed a 3-month internship at ABC Studio, where I learned about art handling and curation.”

Pro Tip: If you’ve received a grant, scholarship, or award, include that too—it shows recognition and credibility.

3. No Internship Yet? That’s Okay
Even if you haven’t worked professionally yet, you can still highlight your learning journey, personal projects, and digital presence.

Example:
“I actively promote my artwork on social media and have over 2,000 followers on Instagram.”

“I’m a self-taught animator who learned through YouTube tutorials and online courses.”
This shows initiative, commitment, and resourcefulness.

4. Show That You’re Eager to Learn
Employers value artists who are open to new ideas, tools, and techniques. Your bio should reflect your willingness to grow.

Example:
“I recently completed Shuruart’s art marketing course on Udemy.”

“I regularly attend workshops to explore new mediums.”

Remember: Your bio is a living document. Keep updating it as you learn and achieve more.
5. Use AI to Improve Your Bio
If writing feels difficult, you can take help from AI tools. They make it easier to organize your thoughts while keeping the tone in your own style.
Try a prompt like:
“I’m applying for an internship at an art gallery. I need help writing a strong artist bio. What information do you need from me?”
Answer the questions asked by AI, and it will provide you with a well-structured draft that you can edit and use for your artist bio.

Your artist bio is more than just a summary—it’s your introduction and your pitch. Done right, it can unlock opportunities and make you stand out in a competitive space.
So treat your bio like your artwork: refine it, update it, and make it reflect who you are.

Watch our Art Marketing Series on YouTube for simple tips and examples made for artists. https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL2Zw7zKzBBXFebLwGpoaZMMjJKgJotmfh&si=FDAStUyaNoMc7bde

If you are an artist working to build your career, you already know that an artist statement is much more than just a short introduction.
It’s a powerful part of your identity—a bridge that connects your artwork to your audience.

But here’s an important truth:
One artist statement cannot work everywhere. Different platforms, galleries, and audiences expect different things from you.

Why a Single Artist Statement Isn’t Enough

Each space where you present your work—whether it’s an online gallery, a personal website, a social media profile, or a professional exhibition—attracts a different type of audience.
And every audience looks for something slightly different:

Some want to dive deep into your artistic vision and inspirations.

Others are more interested in your skills, experience, and professional background.

In a formal setting like a gallery exhibition, you may need a polished, serious tone.

On social media or your website, a conversational and engaging tone often works better.

Simply put, audience expectations change based on where and how they interact with your art.
That’s why it’s important to customize your artist statement according to the platform and the people you are addressing.

How This Helps You in Art Marketing

When your artist statement matches the people who are reading it, they feel more connected to you.
It makes your art marketing feel natural and real, not forced.
Instead of sounding the same everywhere, your story will feel fresh and interesting each time.
Good art marketing isn’t about changing who you are — it’s about sharing your story in a way that fits the place you are showing it.

What’s Next?

In the next parts of our Art Marketing Series, we’ll show you how to write different versions of your artist statement based on where you're showcasing your work.
You’ll learn how to create a professional statement for galleries, a personal and welcoming one for your website, a short and engaging version for social media, a clear and goal-focused one for grant applications, and a balanced, impressive statement for exhibitions.

If you're an artist trying to build your career in the art world, learning how to tell your story clearly can make a real difference.
When an artist shares their story, people often feel a deeper connection—not just with the artwork, but with the person behind it.

In this blog, we’ll walk you through how to write your story in a simple and meaningful way. We'll also show you how AI for artists can make this process smoother and less overwhelming.

Why Your Story Matters

Your art speaks for itself, but your journey gives it a voice.
When people know the story behind your paintings or sculptures, they feel a stronger bond with your work.
They’re not just seeing colors or shapes—they’re seeing your emotions, ideas, and experiences.

That’s why writing about your artist journey is so important. And don’t worry—you don’t have to be a professional writer to do it. You just need a little structure and a little help.
Let’s look at it step-by-step:

Step 1: Start with a Simple Introduction

Begin by answering two simple questions:

Who are you?

Where are you from?

Write a short and simple introduction, like:

"I am Awni, a watercolor artist from Lucknow. I love exploring nature and emotions through my art."

This small introduction immediately gives people a sense of you as a person and an artist.

Step 2: Talk About How You Began

Everyone’s beginning is special.

Share a few lines about:

When did you first start creating art?

What inspired you?

Was it a competition at school? Watching a family member paint? Or just the joy of picking up colors?

Your early memories show people how your journey unfolded naturally, and it makes your work feel even more personal.

Step 3: Describe Your Work and What Inspires You

When people look at your art, they also want to understand the thoughts and feelings behind it.

Think about:

What mediums do you usually work with (like watercolor, oil, digital art)?

What themes or subjects inspire you the most—nature, people, cultural traditions, or something else?

Sharing this helps others appreciate not just what you create, but why you create it.

Step 4: Share Your Goals

It’s always nice to know what an artist dreams about.

Talk about:

What message do you hope to share through your work?

Are you planning to exhibit in galleries, work on specific projects, or inspire change through your art?

When people see your passion and direction, they feel even more connected to your journey.

Wrapping Up

Once you’ve written your artist statement, don’t hesitate to share it with others for feedback.

And if you ever feel unsure about how to begin, you can always take support from AI. It can help you put your thoughts into clear, simple words, without losing your personal touch.

Bonus: A Helpful Prompt to Get Started

Here’s a sample prompt you can use with AI:

Prompt:
"I am Awni, an artist. I am a BFA 4th year student and I want to send a request to exhibit my paintings in art galleries in India. I create paintings of the Ghats of Banaras and I enjoy nature-based art. Considering my work, my journey, and my goal of exhibiting in galleries, what information do you need from me to write a simple, professional, and impactful artist statement?"

You can copy this prompt, paste it into a tool like ChatGPT or Gemini and start a conversation. It will guide you step-by-step in building a statement that feels true to your journey.

Want to write about your art journey with more clarity? Our online course ‘AI for Visual Artists’ shows you how to use AI to write your bio, artist statement, and more—with simple, step-by-step demos.
Available on Udemy:
In English - https://www.udemy.com/course/how-to-reach-a-wider-audience-a-guide-for-young-artists/?couponCode=LETSLEARNNOWPP

In Hindi: https://www.udemy.com/course/contentmarketingforartists/

Sounds ordinary, right? If this was all we knew about Van Gogh, would we still feel the same admiration for his work? Probably not.

Now, let’s talk about you. You might think, "I have just completed my BFA, or I’m still studying. What story do I have?"

But here’s the truth: Every artist has a story, even at the beginning of their journey.

Why Does Your Story Matter?

People don’t just appreciate art; they connect with the artist behind it. They want to know:

What inspires you?

How an Artist Statement Helps You Stand Out

Your artist statement is the bridge between your work and your audience. It helps people understand your creations and builds an emotional connection. A well-written artist statement answers questions like:

What themes do you explore in your work?

Why do you create art?

Integrating art into primary education gives children space and freedom to engage their minds actively. Since 2017, Shuruart Foundation has worked with more than 1470 children studying in 25 Government Primary Schools in Varanasi. Through Let’s Start Art, a program by Shuruart foundation, we have been working rigorously to improve children's literacy skills through visual arts providing holistic development for these children through art-integrated learning. These sessions have given us numerous lessons and first-hand experiences of noticing a child's excitement while creating something with their hands. That spark of joy isn't just a fleeting moment, rather it is a glimpse into the transformative power of Art-Integrated Learning (AIL). This blog is a culmination of all our learnings and a guide for you to understand everything about Art Integrating Learning.

What is Art Integrated Learning?

Art-Integrated Learning (AIL) is an educational approach where art becomes an integral part of learning different subjects. Instead of simply memorizing facts, students actively engage in creating, analyzing, and interpreting art that helps them understand the concepts better and build clarity about them. This hands-on approach allows for deeper understanding and makes learning more enjoyable and relevant to students' lives.

Why Art Integrated Learning?

The years from age 4 to 11 represent a critical phase in human development. These years are called pre-schematic and schematic phase and these are the key times for the cognitive, social, and emotional development of an individual. According to the developmental stages given by psychologists Erik Erikson and Jean Piaget, children in these phases develop logical and abstract reasoning and hypothetical thinking. Maturation in language takes place as well as self-concept and identity formation progresses. Art Integrated Learning fosters a dynamic learning environment that caters to these stages. It transcends rote memorization and aids students in actively developing a diverse range of critical skills by engaging with various art forms.

Observation and deduction are some of the basic skills that are incorporated by AIL. We often encounter such instances in our art sessions where students portray unique observations that often go unnoticed by adults. In our one such session on “sun and wind” a student portrayed transformers catching fire due to intense heat which frequently ends up creating electricity problem in his household. This artwork reflects his experience with and observations of electrical problems. Another student created a storyline where she portrayed that nests fell due to strong winds and the eggs were broken. Stories like this show how art can help children to weave their creativity around their observation, thinking, and deduction skills.

A still of artwork on the topic “Sun and Wind”

Children are innately curious beings. When presented with open-ended materials and given the freedom to experiment without any preconceived outcome, they instinctively tap into their huge imaginations and develop their ideas. When there is no worry about “right” or “wrong,” the creative process makes room for invention, iteration, and innovation. In our session “playing with clay” we saw children moulding clay in various shapes. The freedom of creation ended up in an experience where children molded swings, toys, fruits, their favourite cartoon characters as well as and things they desire to have. Some children crafted mobile phones whereas others made utensils and household products. These activities stimulate the neuro-sensory development of children and assist in improving strength, precision and coordination of their motor skills.

A still of “mask-making” by Yashashvi of Nagwa Primary School

Art acts as a powerful tool for self-expression. Yashashvi, a 5th grade student made a mask of her mother in our session “mask-making”. She told us lovingly that she knows her mother’s mask would not be available at any fair or market, so she made a mask of her. She also shared that she loves her and wants to become like her one day. One of our students Arpit, who cannot speak, communicates himself through his drawings. Art becomes the perfect tool to reach those who can’t reach us through words. These instances make us believe that art truly has the power to unravel the psychological depths of children’s minds and help them reach their full potential eventually. Our sessions have build strong evidence that art integrated learning empowers children with important skills of observation, exploration, experimentation, deduction, and communication.

Are Art classes Just playtime?

Absolutely not! While AIL is fun and engaging, it's far from playtime. It's a powerful learning strategy that caters to different learning styles and ignites a whole range of essential skills. Students like Arpit who struggle with traditional lecture-based methods can excel through artistic expression. AIL activities tap into spatial reasoning, kinesthetic learning, and visual-auditory processing strengths that some students possess. This allows them to grasp concepts in a way that resonates with them and fosters a love of learning. In our sessions, we have found that children who are shy and hesitant at the beginning, tend to open up and express themselves beautifully through their art. It becomes easier for them to assess the needs, work through the process and learn the concepts comfortably through these sessions.

In conclusion, Art Integrated Learning (AIL) is a powerful approach that ignites love of learning by transforming classrooms into vibrant hubs of exploration and creativity. From fostering critical thinking and communication to nurturing collaboration and imagination, AIL empowers students to participate in their learning journeys actively. So, the next time you think about education, remember the magic of art! Our Let’s Start Art sessions of Shuruart Foundation is a strong advocate for AIL, and we invite you to explore the possibilities of transforming education for the children in your life.
Children are the ardent observers of their surroundings where art serves as a canvas to express themselves in the most artistic and imaginative ways. The recent course of vast changes in temperature and climatic conditions has accentuated the critical need for action to protect Mother Earth. Through art-integrated learning young minds actively delve into their thoughts and explore subjects in creative and engaging ways giving them a deeper understanding of the world around them, fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

In our latest Let’s Start Art session, we chose to explore the theme of "Mother Earth" to teach children about the environment, its significance, and the importance of caring for nature. Before delving into drawing, our facilitators engaged the kids with thought-provoking questions to spark their creativity and encourage them to think deeply about nature and their artwork. Questions like "why do we need to take care of Mother Earth? ", "how can we take care of her? ", " what do we get from nature? "and "how are we hurting Mother Earth?” help students to assess the current situation, understand the relationship between our actions and nature and find methods to heal mother earth. Children used this opportunity to convey their concerns and emotions. They even demonstrated various solution-focused approaches. Students passionately illustrated their experiences and observations through beautiful drawings, demonstrating their boundless creativity. Many were even able to deduce viewpoints that often go unattended by adults. One of the students showcased remarkable deductive skills through her art. Her depiction of pomegranate and guava trees stemmed from personal experience – her father's plantings near their home, providing free fruits amidst market costs. This artistic narrative reveals acute observation and highlights nature's abundance and the value of experiential learning. Children not only notice their environment but also get emotionally bonded to nature when they experience the unconditional love bestowed by Mother Earth if preserved lovingly. The art-integrated learning serves artistic creativity's essential purposes and establishes a sympathetic link between children and nature. It empowers children to communicate more naturally and elaborately, fostering awareness and cognitive abilities.

The session encouraged the children to express themselves through drawings inspired by their personal experiences. Activities like these help them emotionally connect to nature and genuinely care for and love Mother Earth. It enhances their observational skills, making them responsible future adults and giving them an edge in their creativity and imagination. It also gives them a profound sense of environmental awareness and responsibility. This form of visual communication strengthens their verbal and non-verbal communication skills, nurturing connections with friends, family, and peers.

Children have the potential to paint a brighter and greener tomorrow. In a world where the echoes of environmental concerns grow louder day by day, it's important to teach our younger generations the importance of preserving nature. We need to make them understand the collective effort needed to address the issue to have a sustainable future. After we complete a year of Let's Start Art sessions in a school, students and facilitators together conceptualize a mural work for the school.

Students at Government Primary School, Lahartara completed their first mural on the walls of the school corridor. Children worked on the theme "Preserving Nature" through interactive discussions with our art instructors regarding the value, importance and conservation of nature. Children can better express themselves through such engaging activities. The Mural became a playground for their imaginations, allowing them to explore, experiment, and collaborate in a space where there were no limits to what they could create.

Children learn to bring their boundless creativity to life through vibrant murals. Such activities strengthen community bonds, nurture teamwork, enhance focus and patience and most importantly highlight the urgency of collective action.

The vibrant colours and designs bring joy into the space and create an inviting
atmosphere in the school. The Mural vividly captures the diversity of the natural world. Butterflies fluttering amidst blooming flowers symbolize the delicate interconnectedness of life. Mighty trees stand tall, their roots deeply embedded in the soil, representing the strength and resilience of nature. Murals serve as visual aids for children helping to create a visually rich environment for them.

Students worked under the supervision of our art instructors, Kavita, Moni, Radha,
Harshita and Chandan.
We are grateful to the school administration for their endless support and to all our
donors for contributing to the holistic education of students at the Government Primary Schools of Varanasi.

As young cinephiles children actively learn and explore through cinematic experience. In this blog, we’ll look at the impact of movies on children and their future. Young Cinephiles learn and absorb quickly through the visual medium.

In our last art session, we conducted the art session on the topic ‘Young Cinephiles’ where our young film enthusiasts told us about their favourite movies, cartoons, drama and the superheroes they adore. Movies provide valuable insights to young cinephiles about different cultures and events. Children learn important life lessons from movies based on characters from diverse backgrounds. They learn to relate to people with different lifestyles and stories, which develops empathy and compassion. Movies are also helpful in teaching lessons to children that no one in their family talks about including topics on mental health, relationships and sexuality. Films are instrumental in educating us about subjects our parents might not discuss openly. Our art sessions were conducted in 25 Government schools in Varanasi.

“Once I went to the cinema hall with my parents to watch a movie. It was fun. I love watching Baalveer on TV.
Another 2nd standard student, Samrat said “I like watching multi-do channels on YouTube. There is a man on it who makes everyone play games. He places some items on a table and covers it with a box with holes in it. People who play have to guess which item is in the box by touching the item. And the one who gives the correct answer gets that item as a reward. I also want to play a similar game and win Frooti. There are no such games in the fairs I visit. When I grow up, I will organize such games in my locality.”

In the period of global challenges and pandemics, teaching children about health and hygiene has never been so critical. The ability of art integrated learning is not only to educate but also inspire and engage young minds. Providing education about health and hygiene through art is a dynamic and effective way to instill lifelong habits of cleanliness and well being in children. A clean and healthy lifestyle is essential for a child's well-being. Children should be taught the importance of healthy habits that will keep them safe and fit in the long run.

In our last art session, we conducted the art session on the topic ‘Stay Clean, Stay healthy’ where children shared the healthy habits they followed to remain healthy and happy with us through their drawings.

Another class 4th student, Kritika said “I have drawn about my daily routine and my home. I wake up every morning and go to the toilet and then brush lightly because once I was brushing too hard, my gums started hurting and bleeding, then I went to the doctor, he said that Brushing should be done with light hands. After brushing I take a bath and then comb my hair. My mother washes everyone's clothes everyday and keeps the house clean.” Adopting healthy habits and hygiene awareness will lead to holistic development of children.

Children learn from their surroundings and their learning shapes their behavior and attitude. Teaching children about Social-Emotional Learning develops emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills among them. Inculcating emotional intelligence will give children a better perspective to look at the world.

In August, Let Start Art sessions were conducted on the topic ‘Where There is a Way, There is a Will' (concerning disabled persons). The theme was chosen with the perspective of developing social intellect among the students. Our focus was on developing a greater understanding among the students so that they could contribute to an inclusive and compassionate society. By actively engaging in artistic activities, children can learn to contribute towards the journey of specially-abled persons in becoming self-dependent. Our art sessions were conducted in 25 Government schools in Varanasi.

These skills will enable students to discover creative and adaptive solutions to address these challenges. Through artistic learning, children better learn and apply these concepts in their daily lives.

Students shared their viewpoints on the theme. “In today's drawing, I have drawn that if a disabled child comes to our school or class, we should befriend them and help them in their studies. Like - If someone cannot hear and they want to listen to the song, then I can dance and tell them which song and dance it is. I want to be an artist when I grow up.” - Sonam, a class 5 student said.

Another student of class 3, Golu said “ When I grow up, I will get married and if my children are disabled, I will get both stairs and ramps made for them in my house so that they do not have trouble going to the terrace. I will play with my children on the terrace. I want to become a doctor when I grow up”.

The feeling of love and devotion towards one’s country develops from a very young age. The beauty of India lies in the shared values, rich heritage, and unity that binds the nation together.

The love for the nation unites children and inculcates a sense of identity. They can experience a lot of things related to this, like the power of love and unity and the beauty of diversity.

In our last art session, we conducted the art session on the topic ‘I love my India’, where children shared their knowledge about India’s history, vibrant culture, cuisine and recent advancements in the country.

Children shared their feelings of love and respect towards their nation. They shared their views of what they love about India. One student shared his love for the national flag and how he sees all the colors of nature in the Indian flag. Another student shared her interest in Indian cuisine, Indian street food and not to forget her love for the national sweet- Jalebi. These instances show how deeply children are attached to their motherland. This way they take an interest in learning about history while moving ahead into the future. The children also shared their interest in their knowledge of national facts.

Through their paintings, they showcased their knowledge about the national flag, national tree, national bird.

India has always attracted millions through its beautiful landscapes, magnificent history and diverse culture. Children see India as a place that accepts everyone with open arms. A place that showcases diversity as its strength and has a sense of belonging among its members. Children also learn to grow together in a harmonious environment together. Their love for India unites them and inculcates a sense of belongingness and we-feeling among them. This way children also learn to respect each other and other ways of life.

Children are naturally drawn to shapes and objects. Whether it's the square tiles on the floor, the ice cream cone, or the round-shaped chapati, their inquisitive minds are constantly seeking patterns and connections. But what is the significance behind this innate curiosity?

Shapes are fundamental to a child's cognitive development, serving as the building blocks for spatial awareness. So, how can we seamlessly integrate shape learning into children's daily experiences? Learning about shapes is wider than the confines of a classroom. By transforming ordinary moments into shape adventures, you can encourage the children to view the world through a new lens—where squares, circles, triangles, and rectangles become hidden treasures waiting to be discovered.

Associating objects with shapes helps children grasp abstract concepts more effectively. For instance, when a child learns that a clock face is a circle, they can better understand the concept of time and its cyclical nature. You can turn everyday moments into valuable learning opportunities for your child.

Children are naturally curious, and we can harness this curiosity by encouraging them to question and explore shapes in their environment in meaningful ways. Ask open-ended questions such as, "What shapes do you see around us?" or "Can you find something shaped like a circle?" This prompts them to observe and identify shapes present in everyday objects, like clocks, plates, or traffic signs.

However, apart from break, there are other reasons why children love Summer. The weather may not always be pleasurable during the day, but as the sun is about to set, the transition from scorching heat to slightly cooler weather, along with the refreshing winds, brings relief. One student mentioned in her drawing that she loves to walk in the evening with her parents, and they enjoy the cool breeze by walking on the riverside.

In the first set of Let's Start Sessions in April, we conducted the art session on "Sun and the Wind", where students shared what they love most about the sun; a few children shared what they do in summer breaks. One student said he likes to play different games and visit relatives' places during the summer holidays. The other student said he likes to eat Mango and watermelon in the summer season.

Cancer treatment can be a difficult and emotionally draining process, especially for children. The side effects of the medications, as well as the uncertainty and fear associated with cancer, can take a toll on children’s mental and emotional well-being. Children may find it difficult to communicate their feelings and fears about their illness and treatment verbally.

However, art therapy offers a non-verbal way for children to express themselves and communicate their emotions through their artwork. It also helps distract children from any discomfort or pain they may be experiencing.

The learning process can sometimes be frustrating and challenging, leading to a feeling of failure. However, teaching children not to give up when learning something new is essential. It helps them develop problem-solving and critical thinking skills and prepares them to approach problems with an open mind.
When children accomplish a difficult task or overcome a challenge, they feel a sense of pride and accomplishment. It can boost their confidence and positively impact their overall well-being. Instead of focusing solely on the result, it is important to encourage children to focus on their learning process.

In March, the first set of Let's Start Art sessions was conducted on the topic 'Never give up', our art instructors asked the children to share their stories when they were in a difficult situation and did not give up.
Their stories were inspiring. One student shared a story about his struggles with learning to ride a bicycle. He wanted to learn for a long time but struggled to balance the bicycle. But he didn't give up. Through consistent practice, he eventually learned it.

Another student shared a story about her experience with reading. She used to find it difficult to read from her textbook, but her teacher encouraged her to keep practising. Now she can read confidently, and her class participation is also improved.

These stories and many more like them show us the power of never giving up.
As parents and educators, we must teach children the value of perseverance and determination. We should encourage them to keep trying, even when things get tough, and remind them that mistakes are a normal part of learning. By doing so, we can help them develop the skills and mindset they need to achieve their goals and reach their full potential.

Children studying at Government Primary School, Orderly Bazaar, Varanasi, took part in a socially engaged art project by a Danish artist and designer, Inger Margrethe Larsen. The students wrote their mantras and qualities they believe help them become a better person on a piece of paper. The papers were rolled to make paper beads. Paper beads were turned into bracelets, a beautiful piece of jewellery.

Mona is a class 4th student at Government Primary School, Sivpurva, Varanasi.

Through our Let's Start Session, we enable children to explore their creativity and imagination through Artistic expression. When children are encouraged to express their thoughts and experiences through drawing, they learn to pay attention to details. Art education enhances children's creativity and imagination and helps them develop the necessary skills for growth and success.

Movies based on famous sports stories have always been a popular genre among children and adults alike. These movies provide entertainment and inspire children to take an interest in sports and pursue their dreams.
In January, we conducted the let's start session on the theme "Play as an opportunity." We asked the children which sport they liked the most and encouraged them to share their stories through drawing. We were delighted to hear their stories and how movies based on their favourite sports inspire them.
A few children mentioned that they love movies like Chak de India and Dangal because they saw girls playing Hockey and wrestling in both films, which is rare. These two movies promote gender equality and challenge traditional stereotypes restricting girls from pursuing sports. It encourages children to break down societal barriers and pursue their dreams, regardless of gender.

Teaching children the importance of cleanliness and health through art-integrated learning is an effective way to ensure that they understand and practice healthy habits from a young age and develop self-awareness and discipline. By combining art with other subjects, students can better understand the concepts they are studying while evolving their creativity. Encouraging children to let their minds wander and think creatively can help them acquire problem-solving skills and increase their curiosity and imagination. Art-integrated education helps children understand the importance of cleanliness in a fun and engaging way. Through this method, children can learn how to take care of their hygiene, keep their environment clean, and understand why it is essential to be clean and healthy.

Children's exposure to the arts influences their overall development. It promotes creativity and self-expression, allows children to express themselves creatively, and helps them explore their interests and ideas.
As children grow up, they learn from their surroundings and observe the habits and behaviour of people around them, and in the early phase of childhood, they learn and pick up habits very quickly. We can easily mould the habits and routines of children when they are young. Hence, It is essential to instil and encourage healthy habits and routines in children; this keeps them motivated and helps them maintain their best behaviour.

In December, Let's Start Art sessions were conducted on the theme "Early to bed and early to rise", derived from a textbook of children from Government Primary Schools of Varanasi. Approximately 700 students from 20 schools attended these art sessions.
Discussion on such topics develops self-awareness and discipline among children. It also boosts their self-confidence. We asked students to share their stories through their drawings.

Children don't have to be artistic but should be encouraged towards expression and creativity.

Friendship has an enormously positive effect on our well-being. Beyond the shadow of a doubt, having friends is extremely important for children. It builds self-confidence and helps children adapt quickly to the environment. Early-childhood Friendship influences positive development that offers an opportunity for children to learn and develop in a social setting and forms a pattern for creating friendships in later life.

A special bond with their peers is one of the many factors that help children feel welcome and fosters social and emotional development. Also, learning the importance of Friendship at this tender age is beneficial to build the foundation of their personality.
In the let's Start session in November, we asked the students to draw their friends and narrate their friendship stories. Topics like these encourage children to think and observe deeply. Including the arts makes other subjects more enjoyable, improving learning and increasing attendance. Through our Let's Start Art sessions, we aim to achieve this. We strive to improve children's literacy skills through visual arts and make primary education holistic, fun, and creative.

A little inspiration and understanding of the importance of food can go a long way. It is essential to teach children the value of food and why not to waste it. This will make them understand where the food comes from and how much effort goes into producing every morsel.

After completing a year of Let's Start Art sessions in a school, students and art instructors conceptualise a mural work for the school.
Students at Government Primary School, Naria, completed their first mural in their school under the supervision of art instructors. The theme of the mural is "Don't waste food". While the artists guide the work, students work on a theme from scratch and finish the complete mural themselves. This activity engages children, makes them confident, and improves affiliation with the school. Our murals can also be used as visual aids during a classroom activity, helping to create a visually rich environment for children.
The top portion of the mural portrays farmland and a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables. At the bottom, the mural shows how food is being wasted. The artwork encourages people to understand the value of food and reduce food waste. The bright colours and fun design bring joy into the space and create an inviting atmosphere in the school.
Students worked under the supervision of our art instructors, Kavita, Moni, Radha and Chandan.
We are grateful to the school administration for their endless support and to all our donors for contributing to the holistic education of students at the Government Primary Schools of Varanasi.

Children are innately curious beings. They tend to ask a lot of questions! But as adults, we lose sight of this innate curiosity as we get swamped with our work and responsibilities.
Schools create a safe space and creative environment for children where they develop social and emotional skills and learn to observe, evaluate and adapt. When we ask children about their day at school, they have a lot of stories to tell. These questions encourage them to open up and share their experiences.

The topic of the art session conducted in October was "What I love about My School", we asked students what they love about their school and share their stories and experiences through art. Questions like these encourage children to think deeply about their experiences instead of simply answering yes or no.

It is essential to teach children about the world around them. It helps them gain more knowledge about their surroundings.

Children are usually eager to learn and deepen their comprehension of the world.
While learning about various seasons, they also learn about the passage of time and change. They will quickly recognise each season, what changes happen in the environment with the change of seasons and how it affects them and the environment.
This will encourage them to contribute toward protecting the environment and enhance their awareness of Nature.
