Christine 9 Pcs. Brush kit ~ Review

Ahemm.. Sorry about the dirty brush kit! This was the first brush kit i got after the sponge tip applicator era :p

Well, there isn't any info about these brushes from the company, keep on reading to know how these are :)

I grabbed this i guess 7 8 years back.. its pretty old but not much used..and theres a perfect reason why!

Back then i was practicing makeup, i needed some tools to practice on..This brush kit seemed great..It had 9 brushes which were pretty decent quality for a cheap brand.. 9 brushes for 500 rs felt great but after using it i could feel it isn't a very well thought/designed kit..

Now let me introduce you to the members of this brush kit family..

Firstly, a powders brush..we all know what that is for :p

Angled Blush brush, great for contouring and applying blush.

Oh look the poor babies are growing old..ahh white hair!

Fan brush.. This was one of the useless brushes in the set!

Its really flat, not likely for powdering or sculpting the face, i never really used it

This one i wouldn't say is completely useless, you can definitely use the comb to separate the clumpy lashes after using mascara..and comb the eyebrows.

Eyebrow brush, which is absolutely hard and stiff!

I never liked it

Soft angled eye brush, a nice alternative to the fluffy blending brush

and look at this tiny Eye shading brush.. Seriously?!

This ones more suitable to work as a lip brush..useless for eye area.

Eyeliner brush, no issues with this baby

This is the lip brush..which is more like a small blending brush, it works well for precise blending on the eyes.

Overall, i would say this is a decent quality brush kit..i just had the issue with the brush selection here..theres a tiny brush for eye shading, a soft dome-shaped brush for lips..some brushes are really soft, others are pretty okay..and theres this stiff one for eyebrows which feels spikes!

I don't really know if this kit is still available in the market, i didn't check it again..But there is a 23 Pcs. brush kit by Christine Cosmetics too which might be a better purchase than this one..So if you're a beginner and you need a budget friendly brush kit to practice on, you can definitely check out the 23 Pcs one..but don't waste your money on this one :)

The Dollish Lipstick indeed has a pretty dollish packaging..i really love matte blacks, i don't know why! These lipsticks have a faint sweet scent which fades away after a while

Medonna Red is a beautiful blue toned red..i actually prefer blue toned reds because any lipstick with orange undertones makes my teeth look yellow..ahh :(

When i swatched it on my hand, the pigmentation seemed sheer to build able and uneven too..but on the lips, it looked perfect with just one swipe! The texture is creamy with a semi matte finish, goes buttery smooth on the lips..You won't need to apply a lipgloss for more shine on you lips..and yes, because of the creamy texture, it will settle into the fine line too!

Onto the Swatch now..

The lasting power is 3-4 hours..it actually depends on you diet i guess..The more you eat the less stayin power you'll get :P

Overall, Lioelle dollish lipstick in Medonna red is a very beautiful red..can be easily pulled off by anyone..even someone you doesn't feel comfortable with bold lip colors!

The only thing that would make me think about whether repurchasing it or not is the high price tag..other than that, im pretty happy about it :)

When i saw this color..it was Love at first sight!

I really like these bottles, it has a band of rubber on the cap which feels your nail color is well secured inside..the applicator brush is nice and wide, covers the nail really well..You don't need to swipe it on your nails several time to get an even application

Overall, I absolutely loved it..Its a shiny foil/silver color and the glitter specs makes it even beautiful..It needs just one or two coats for a lovely opaque finish!

I don't really apply nail polish for 10 days and because of the house chores my manicure never lasts that long..I love the fact it has the 7 benefits of Salon Manicure..makes it even more interesting! :)

I have tried the dense lashes before, i love using them but they get too dramatic for everyday use or even for every look!

When i got these eyelashes from Model21 eyelashes..they looked perfect, very natural and not too dramatic..this set contains a really nice variety of eyelashes, you can wear them everyday..They do have a little thicker band (the part that holds the eyelashes) than the ardell ones i have..but thats not really an issue for me because its pretty flexible and easy to apply :)

Okay, coming onto how these actually look on the eyes ;)

Starting with ShyCheeeks Eyes with and without mascara..ahh they look so sad and lonely!

with 2T Eyelashes

These give an overall length and fullness to the eyelashes

with 40T Eyelashes

These are more on the lengthening side

with 19T Eyelashes

These give length to the eyelashes plus a little fullness in the middle

with 63 Eyelashes

These aren't long, they're great for adding a little fullness to the lashes with a natural length

with 13T Eyelashes

These are absolutely lovely, they give a natural length and fullness to the eyelashes but add a little drama to the outer eyelashes

Ahemm.. the description of this baby intrigues me!

This Kajal comes in a BRIGHT yellow retractable pencil form..The Bright color looks pretty cool and stands out in my makeup stash

the retractable pencil is pretty big, i swatched it and loved the color BUT the then i checked how much product is actually present inside..the quantity was disappointing :(

The thin stick of kajal is only about 2 inch long!

Being a retractable pencil has its own pros and cons

Pro point would be not wasting any product by sharpening the pencil again and again..and here comes the con; because you can't sharpen this, its tip isn't going to be precise enough to create thin lines..But then, i prefer using this as a Kajal on my waterline rather than using it on the eyelids

Oh well, besides that i actually am pretty impressed about the quality here! :)

The Kajal is creamy enough to glide on smoothly, but i won't say its VERY creamy..The pigmentation is great, it gives you a deep dark black line..Even on the waterline!

What i like on the waterline is layering the kajal once, then wait for a while..Do some random stuff, get my eye makeup done or whatever to pass a little time..Then layer the kajal again, this gives an intense black line on the waterline :)

The texture is more of a matte-finish..As described, it stayed on my waterline for 6 hours straight without fading or smudging on a normal day..Oh Yes! I applied it in the morning on my waterline, and checked after 6 hours..it was still the same without any smudging..I usually get panda eyes when i apply a regular kajal, i really hate that..But after almost 8 hours of application of this baby, i could see the black color a little faded..but it remained there until i removed it myself at night

I wouldn't say its fully waterproof though, if you have watery eyes this might fade quicker!

It didn't move on my waterline..but the other day when i was cooking, it did fade a little because of my watery eyes when cutting onions..and my watery eyes made it smudge too a bit on my lower eyelids

I think this may not last 6 hours straight on a hot humid climate..Lets just see how it works in the summers, i'll update this post then :)

Overall, im loving this Kajal for lining my waterline..the quality is very impressive!

I just think the price is a little higher for the quantity of product you're getting
Oh and yes, it didn't irritate my eyes too :)

I actually love the chubby mascaras..I don't know why but these chubby bottles and fun colors are fun!

Anyway, coming onto the actual product now..

Starting with the wand, its big..No, actually its pretty HUGE for my liking!

The reason i don't like massive wands is that i like coating my lashes from root to tip..wiggling this chubby wand on the root of my lashes actually touches my eyelid..which can be a pain because you will end up ruining your eye makeup :(

So be careful when working with this, you really don't want to make your eye messy!

Coming onto the formula now..

The formula is a little thick, in-between dry and runny..It dries on the lashes pretty quick. One coat will give you a little volume and definition but that doesn't satisfy me..Two coats of this gave me a little more volume but it still wasn't the WOW or Criminal effect i was expecting!

And yes, it starts to form clumps in your lashes with the second coat

The good thing about it being waterproof is that it doesn't smudge, even with water and hot climate!

The lasting power of this product is GREAT!

It actually last whole day..I used this mascara in the morning and in between the day i splashed water on my face three or four times but this mascara didn't move a bit..it stayed there till the night when i took it off with makeup remover!

Overall, I think this can be a good everyday mascara..It will give you a good length and volume BUT not dramatic like the description Rimmel gave! The wand is TOO Big, it can be pretty messy if you're not careful..The only thing i love about this is its lasting power.. it will last all day :)

Make Your Own Bent Eyeliner Brush ~ DIY

I like using a bent eyeliner brush when lining my eyes..I actually bought one but then i learnt this trick to make your own bent eyeliner brush..money wasted! *sigh*

Its really easy, you just need a regular eyeliner brush and a Plas Tool

Don't waste your money on buying a new bent eyeliner brush now ;)

The application is easy, match the strips according to your nails..they're actually like stickers, stick them on your nails one by one and file your nails to cut the access design

The application is not fast, these do need some patience and time to stick neatly on your nails

I really love the designs these come in, heres the Zebra one im wearing, which actually is called Wild Child..it looks delicious on the nails..i got so many compliments when i wore these, everyone was keen to know how i made the design hehe ;)

These literally stick to your nails till you take them off..Seriously!

But that actually is a bad thing too, because it was a disaster getting these babies off my nails

I used Nail Polish Remover as suggested, which was a fail for me..then i dipped my nails in warm water for 10 mins and tried scrapping these off..nope, still it came off in bits and pieces

After half an hour of stress getting these off by any mean, i finally took a knife and scraped them off..i know thats terrible for my nails..but that was the only way :(

Overall, i love the designs..they literally stick to your nails, and taking them off on the 6th or 7th day was horrible for me..you don't even want to know how my nails looked like after getting these off :(

If anyone out their has used these before, PLEASE tell me if they had the same problem or not? and how did they get these off? i really want to know!

BeautyUK Eyeshadow Palette no.5 - Twilight ~ Review + Swatches

Im a sucker for purples, blues and nude colors..this palette looks like the best option for me!

Its a nice compact palette, first impression was pretty good..i love all the colors in this palette!

All the colors have a fine subtle shimmer, not on your face kind of shimmery!

won't bother you with fall offs

The mirror is a thin rectangle, where the brush is..its actually useless

And sadly, the lonely applicator which also is of no use for ShyCheeeks!

Here are the swatches..

Now for a Closer Look..

(All the shadows are heavily swatched with primer on)

The white color is actually more of a shimmer than white..the pigmentation wasn't good either

The purple one also needed a little work to show up better

The Silver'ish grey color and ShyCheeeks had a little fight on the pigmentation..and the color won on being nothing but a pain..you can see it for yourself!

The blue on the other hand was better on showing off some pigmentation

The dark grey and purple were nicely pigmented

A cool grey and purple

three purples in the palette more or less look similar

Another similar purple, with a black..the black is also not the blackest black..its more of a smoke color

The Pigmentation was horrible for the lightest shades, but all the others were fine..not the best ones..For the above swatches, i actually had to build-up the color several times to get this intensity!

Overall, the colors look good in the palette..but working with them is a bit hard, the color payoff is alright with the dark shades..but the lighter shades didn't even show up well with a good primer..and other drawback is that some colors are actually dupes of other shades present in the palette, which is sad :(

Must Have Eye Makeup Brushes!

I get loads of questions about my must-have brushes..So i thought why not do a little detailed post about it here :)

I picked a few brushes that i frequently use in any Eye Makeup..Keep reading to know about them!

Starting off with an Eye shading brush like E55 [link here]

This one is used for packing eyeshadow all over the lid evenly, the bristles are soft and dense..The length is just right for eyelids, not too small and not too big!

The second one is the E25 Blending Brush [link here]

This one has multiple uses..its slightly flatter unlike the fluffy blending brush..you can use it to put color in the crease area as well as blending any harsh lines!

You can also use this one as a concealer brush too..After finishing my eye makeup, i use this to apply a concealer under the eye to clean the area..I actually prefer putting on foundation after doing eye makeup :)

Coming onto the Small Tapered Blending Brush like E45 [link here]

This one has a precise tip like the Pencil brush..but is fluffly enough to blend the color easily..This brush lets you blend color in a very precise area..Just put the color on the tip of this brush and blend it the crease area or you can also use this to soften any harsh edges with a light color

The Pencil Brush E30 [link here]

This one will work great to smudge your eyeliner, or create dimension in your eye makeup by working with a dark color in the outer V area

Short Shader Brush E20 [link here]

I love using this brush for putting color on my lower lid..I don't like applying a thick line on my lower lid, this brush is flat and precise..just right to do the job

Small Eye Liner Brush E10 [link here]

Lastly a thin precise eyeliner brush..you can definitely skip this if you like using liquid/pencil eyeliner :)

So these are some of my most loved brushes, having the right tools for the right job makes eyerything really easy!

My ongoing Hairfall Treatment ~

Hey lovely ladies!

Im here today for a little talking about a very common problem - Hair Fall :(

There was a time when i used to have really thick, long and strong hair..but then i don't know what happened and it started falling alot..i had to cut them *sigh* :'( ..and ever since, i couldn't get my hair to be strong again!

This winter, i couldn't manage to take care of my hair because of my sister's wedding..i got pretty busy with all the work and shoppings blah blah.. Anyway, my hairfall problem worsened and after my sister's wedding i actually cut 15 inches of my hair length..and ended up with shoulder length hair..so i can take good care of them and grow them long and strong again..

My khala (aunt) suggested to add equal amounts of castor oil, olive oil, almond oil, and coconut oil (you can skip the coconut oil in winters if you don't like it being solid and add mustard oil if you want to) ..mix them all and oil your hair roots to tip as usual atleast 30 mins before you wash your hair!

Its been almost half a month i've been regularly oiling my hair, and i see my hair condition has improved..almost 50% less hair fall :)

Directions to Use:

STEP 1: Apply 1 coat of base coat. Shake Magnetic Nail Color to activate. Remove overcap with magnet and set aside. Apply 1 coat of Magnetic Nail Color to all 10 nails and let dry.

STEP 2: Apply a thick second coat of color to 1 nail and immediately hold the built-in magnet over the nail. Rest the guide just below the cuticle without touching the wet nail polish. Hold for 10 seconds.

This shade 'Graphite Gravity' comes off as a graphite black color..but after you do the second coat with magnet, it becomes a lovely swirly gradient! These magnetic colors have become my all time favorite now..i don't like applying dark nail colors but im absolutely loving these quick 3D nail arts ;)

Jewelery Haul from Tariq Center

Hello Ladies!

I wanted to share with you the jewelery i bought for my sister's wedding :)

Oh and there was a matching ring like the teeka, i wonder why i didn't take its picture!

These seem really small in the pictures, but the teeka is actually HUGE..3-inch in diameter! and the jhumkay are also a little bigger than the teeka..It was pretty hard to set the huge and heavy teeka on my fine hair, it kept slipping throughout the function :P

I paired this jewelery with my beige saree, it had similar pearls and swarovski crystal work on it..Got loads of compliments from everyone..I wish i could share with you my pictures too but i've got some privacy issues, sorry :(

Anyway, i bought all this from Tariq Center - at Tariq Road..The person was selling these for 1300 PKR but you know shopping cannot be done without a little bargain hehe ;)

So i actually paid 700PKR for these alongwith the ring :)

Sweet Touch Lip Gloss 660 ~ Review + Swatch

Im not a huge Lipgloss person, i usually prefer lipsticks more..but there are days when i like wearing a lipgloss on bare lips..This one by Sweet Touch is really a lovely peachy pink shade with loads of golden sparkles..Sounds like Nars orgasm, doesn't it? ;)

Anyway, the formula of this gloss is sticky, now theres a good and a bad thing about it being sticky..The good thing is that it lasts a long time..After 5 hours i could see and feel it on my lips, even after a cup of tea and a little snack!

The bad thing is after 3-4 hours it didn't feel fresh like the first hour..As time passed, it felt a little dry and flaky because of the golden shimmer in it..So i wiped it off myself after the 5th hour of wear!

Heres the swatch..

The lipgloss has a typical applicator..It doesn't pick loads of product

First coat gives a sheer flush of color, because of our naturally pigmented lips i like to apply two coats for the color to show up nicely!

If you're a person who gets uncomfortable with sticky glosses, just apply a lip balm first and blot your lips to take away the access product..then apply the gloss and it will feel non-sticky :)

Price-wise, i find this great..its inexpensive!

Costs about 200 PKR and is available across all Sweet Touch Counters

Overall, this is a great pick..Inexpensive and long wearing!

The color is absolutely beautiful with very fine and non-chunky shimmer in it..It would look gorgeous on almost everyone..but the glitter starts to feel a little dry and flakey on the lips after 4-5 hours

I like applying it on moisturized lips, this way it doesn't feel sticky :)

Sweet Touch Glam'n'Shine in Satin Peach ~ Review + Swatch

There always is a product that just tempts me to own it..I just love marble design on blushes!

Starting off with a little 'first impressions' talk..I saw this blush and loved the combination of colors in it, this can be used as a highlighter or blush..The color shade is Satin Peach, but when i swiped my finger on the design the color actually was a nude peach because of all the browns mixed in it..I have used it alot of times, the design is still pretty good and theres loads of product left!
Heres the swatch..

There isn't much peach when you swirl your brush/finger on the marble design!

When i applied it on my cheeks with my F50 Duo Fibre Brush, it looked very subtle..it gave me a candle lit glow with very fine shimmer..I like the fact you can't go overboard with this, no matter how much you applied, it stayed pretty natural..So if you're looking for a product that will look very prominent on your skin, this might not be your catch

The lasting power was pretty good, i could still see it after 6 hours when i looked closely in the mirror..The only problem was the shade maybe, the pigmentation is sheer and wasn't standing out on my cheeks..As you saw the swatch, it looks more like my own skin color but with a natural satin glow..

Overall, this is a product that can be used everyday for a subtle glow on your face, if you're a person who doesn't like to go overboard with satin/shimmer products then this will be a good option..but still, like the shade name i do wish it had a little more touch of peach and less browns to show up better on the skin!

Sally Hansen Magnetic Nail Color in Golden Conduct ~ Review + Swatches

Heres my First encounter with Magnetic Nail Polish!

Directions to Use:

STEP 1: Apply 1 coat of base coat. Shake Magnetic Nail Color to activate. Remove overcap with magnet and set aside. Apply 1 coat of Magnetic Nail Color to all 10 nails and let dry.

Repeat for all 10 nails and let dry. Finish with top coat.

Isin't it so cool? ;)

I never had a complain with the quality of Sally Hansen Nail polishes, this one also applied smoothly..Even one thin coat of this nail polish was pretty opaque, by the time i finished coating all five fingers my first finger nail was dry..then i did a thick second coat and immediately placed the magnet (which is on the top of the nail polish cap) over my nail for 15-20 seconds..and Voila! a 3D swirly design came out of nowhere ;)

I do wish the magnet was a bit bigger because you can't really see if some part of your nail is not covered by it..Theres another fun part in this, you can have different styles of swirls on your nails (horizontal, vertical or diagonal)..If you change the direction of the magnet, these swirls will have a different direction..Like i did all my four fingernails by placing the magnet the same way..but on my thumb, i placed the magnet differntly and the lines came out vertical..i know its kind of hard to understand like this :)

My manicure never lasts 7 days..i have to cook daily, clean the dishes, other house chores blah blah..oh yes, life isn't candies and sweets for a blogger too! Anyway, with all this work going on..i just get 2 to 3 days with a perfect manicure and after that the nail color starts to chip off..but if you're lucky and you don't have to face all this work, then you can get away with 5 days of perfect manicure ;)

Overall, im absolutely loving the color and the 3D design that pops within seconds..I just wish the magnet was a little bigger

I never thought i would enjoy Magnetic Nail Polish so much, this has become a part of my favourites, will pick some more shades now!

This set contains four mini bottles that compliment the Spiderman theme..Altough spideman doesn't wear a Glittery costume, these shade are all sparkly!

All the four shades are absolutely gorgeous, im loving 'Number One Nemesis' the most..its a gorgeous glittery taupe shade..i will definitly buy its full-sized one when i empty this bottle ;)

I like the fact they applied smoothly, all the shades except the pink one needed three coats for an opaque result..But looking at the size of these bottle, i think one bottle will last me for 5 or 6 times of application on both hands

Overall, these sets are a good way to try different colors..they are half the size of the original ones and will cost you almost the amount of two full-sized bottles! :)

Hello Glow Rice & Milk Facial Cleansing Powder ~ Review

Winters are almost gone here in Karachi..and im not willing to welcome the summers already :(
Ahh anyway, lets talk about the Hello Glow Rice & Milk Facial Cleansing Powder

What is it?

A luxuriously hand blended silky powder, that glides over skin to cleanse and polish

What's in it?

100% natural combination of pure milk powder, honey, rice and essential oils

How does it work?

Milk contains an exfoliator, lactic acid, which gently loosens dead skin. This is combined with rice, which is rich in ceramide to stimulate collagen production and help diminish the appearance of wrinkles. Honey acts as a natural humectant, attracting moisture to leave skin smooth and glowing.

How do I use it?

Pour onto wet hands, rub palms together to create a smooth paste, gently massage onto skin for 20 seconds and rinse off with cold water to reveal a radiant complexion.

The First thing you'll notice about this product is that its not like a regular cleanser..its a powder..eh? The powder is a little grainy but not harsh for the face..The good thing about it being a powder is that its preservatives free..no harmful ingredients yayy! But a little con is that you have to be careful using this product and not to spill it everywhere on your sink!

But its not a huge issue :)

My skin gets pretty dry in winters and i was a little skeptical using this on my face just because it is a little grainy and it actually exfoliates the skin too! But it made my skin feel smooth and soft..i don't use this regularly day and night because too much scrubbing isn't good for our skin..so i use it 2 to 3 times a week :)

The 100ml bottle looks pretty small and i first thought i will use this up in a month..but i've been using it (2 to 3 times a week) and still have more than half of the bottle left after 2 months!

You just need almost half teaspoon of the powder for every use..So i can tell you it will last me pretty long :)

I actually didn't find it easy using this as directed..I just wet my face with water first and pour some powder on my hand and pat it on certain areas of the face just like you would do with a cream..and then rub it gently on the face

I was breaking out pretty badly when the winters started..Even my neutrogena bar wasn't working..i used this for 2 weeks and my pimples were visibly reduced..This product is 100% Natural, i think that worked for my acne-prone skin :)

It is available for 1500 PKR on just4girls website..which i think isn't such a budget-friendly price for some..but if you really want to try it there's a 30ml bottle of this available too which costs 500 PKR

Overall, i really like this because its a natural and preservative free product..Its a skin friendly product for acne-prone skin people like me..but the price tag is a little concern for me..I already use ponds facewash that i like and that costs me only 200 PKR..Apart from this, i did enjoy using this product :)

I have used the exfoliating brush by Sigma; their Cleansing and Polishing Tool [review here]

This one caught my eye because its a facewash and and exfoliating brush in one

This is a pretty good sized bottle..Good in the quantity factor but bad because its really big to use as a brush exfoliator!

The brush bristles look quite sharp here in the picture, but they don't feel hash on the skin..its pretty soft to use it on a daily basis!

The facewash is pretty liquid-y..the brush has a little hole in between that you can open or close..Open that hole to pour the facewash on your hand and dab it on parts of your face..then close the hole and massage the exfo-brusher on your face..i know it sounds too much work but not an issue :)

But here the size factor comes, the bottle acts as a brush..but because of the large size it looks pretty weird :P

I don't really have discoloration on my skin, just acne mark..So i tested this on someone who has discoloration

The exfo brusher was used three or four times a week, not regularly day and night..and after a month i could actually see visible results!

The person using the exfo brush had a sun tan and pretty bad discoloration around the neck..after a month of use, the discoloration faded and the skin tone actually brightened :)

I can't talk about the oil control part because this was used in the winters when the skin was more combination to normal..but when the skin got drier with the cold weather, this actually made the skin even dry..So i won't recommend this for anyone with dry skin

Overall, this is for people with oily/combination/normal skin..you won't see results from the first day, but they will be visible after 2 or 3 weeks of use..I didn't notice any visible changes in fading the acne scars though

It won't work wonders to make you fair but it did brighten sun tanned skin and evened out the complexion

Shoe Haul from Adels!

So i've been pretty busy with my sister's wedding shoppings..Sorry for the long breaks between my posts!

I thought why not share my shoes i bought for the wedding function..keep reading for more details :)

I bought these from Adels on Tariq Road, the area where you can find lots of shoe shops!

It was my first visit there, there was a pretty good variety..They had a little Sale section too, these babies were actually on the Sale section ;)

I got these for 790 PKR on Sale..Im glad i found the right shoe size in these..the only drawback for my height is not all shoes fit me :(

*sigh*

These are more of 'all over lid' colors! Work with them with a damp brush and they go on beautifully!

It is Aqua makeup and will come off easily with water but other than that, its not going to go anywhere ;)

These are available for 800PKR each..and i can assure you they will last a long long time
