I figured he ate something that he shouldn’t have and I kept an eye on him, well the third day he was very weak and looked like he was dehydrated but he wouldn’t drink any water, he stood up and fell right back down. That’s when I rushed him into the vet. They did a Parvo test and it came out positive. The vet gave us an IV with medication in it and told us to give it to him every 3-4 hours. He also told us that he probably had it 4 or 5 days before sick like symptoms appeared. He told me that he couldn’t tell me if he had a shot at life or death or not because he’s seen cases where they were as good as dead and they came through and some that came in early and looked like they had a shot, and died. So I’ve been keeping up on the schedule and he’s just now starting to (if your squeamish please don’t read this part) squirt out some bloody runny poop. Not a lot but it’s pretty red. By the sounds of this, in your honest opinion, does it sound like he has a shot at all? I’m keeping him well hydrated, the vet told me that what’s in the IV fluid I won’t have to give him water or food because it’s nourishing him already. So does it sound like my dog has a shot?
HE HAS MADE IT THROUGH THE NIGHT AND IS MORE INTERACTIVE, HE WILL READJUST HIMSELF AND LOOK UP AT YOU, IT’S TIME FOR HIS IV AGAIN NOW. I DO THINK HE’LL MAKE IT. MY IM IS ERIC_EXTACY IF YOU’D LIKE TO TALK FURTHER ABOUT HIM.

He gave me eye drops to put in my dog’s eyes every 4 hours 3-4 times a day to help, but they don’t seem to have any effect.

His eye started filling with blood about an hour after I picked him up from the vet a day ago; he was neutered. He been acting alright, nothing noting that he is in pain, but his left swells with blood that it is bulging and his right eye is now filling as well. Also, if this is somehow related, a bright red bruise has formed by his stitches. Please, if possible, give me an idea what my dog may have.
After two days of putting in his eye drops, the blood going away and the white of his eye is showing once again.

I usually stay at hers between 1 and 3 nights every week. We’re very close and nothing could change that.

There’s one problem; Fleas. Her cat had a litter of kittens about 14 weeks ago and they have since found new homes, but they were infested with fleas. The fleas then went onto their dog and he had a flea problem, lost a lot of his fur and had scabby patches etc. They havent got a lot of money and couldn’t take him to the vet. I know this is bad but please don’t judge her or her family for it. Thats not the nature of this question. However as I said the kittens have been rehomed and the dogs skin is clearing up. However! There are still fleas in the house and on the dog. I’ve seen them on him and moved away from him, but as they are in the house keeping away from the dog isn’t going to do much good. I stopped there for 2 nights, coming home today, and have returned with over 30 flea bites on my body. They never seem to get bitten so they arent having a problem. They say that they’ve used spot-on flea treatments on the dog, and on the cat, and are giving the dog flea tablets but if that were true the fleas would not still be on the dog so I find it a little hard to believe. Also they say they’ve used the flea spray stuff for upholstery, but I cant see this being true either since the fleas would be dead and gone by now.

I’ve tried to hint that the fleas arent gone and my friend has said they’ll be gone soon cuz of the things theyve used but.. I doubt it. I dont want it to come between us but I dont really want to keep going round to hers and coming back bitten as hell, and I dont want it to affect our friendship..

Any advice?

and we have seen someone about his behaviour and she told me duke is never gunna be smart. that cost me lots of cash to be told that.

She has been back and forth to the vet for many tests all of which do not indicate a problem. We are awaiting the results of one more test, then they want to do a biopsy at around $1,500. From day one I have thought it was intestinal cancer and now they do too. She is still eating, going out and barking. She’s not as lively as she used to be, but I don’t think she is in pain. She has lost almost a quarter of her weight in the past two months. I really feel bad because I am a senior citizen too with bad health and she is my best friend.
Besides having diarrhea now she is vomitting too, and then wants to eat the vomit. At this point, she is starving to death. The vet never called today so I assume the worse. My husband wants to put her down tomorrow, but she is still enjoying life. I will see what the vet says tomorrow.

All of your answers are the best and I cannot pick just one becaue every one of them made me cry.
