Stress spot

Many people wonder why their hair brakes off at the crown of their head constantly. Well, my friend, if you have the same question, I have the answer. Your crown is the most sensitive area on your head. Even as a baby, people called it the "soft spot". And it really is. For those that don't handle stress very well, you will notice after a period of time, that area will begin to get thinner and thinner. As a matter of fact, for men who eventually shave all of their hair off and consider it the "new fad", for many is not the reality. They have been experiencing balding. I would rather that you cut it all off than leave all the hair around the sides for even comb the long side piece over as to hide it. WE STILL SEE IT!

I think it's a beautiful thing to see women going back natural. However, many have made this decision because of hair thinning or damage caused by long periods of chemical treatments, braids and/or extensions. I do have a problem seeing some women with their natural hair looking a mess. Come on ladies, YouTube a video if you have a challenge being creative, but don't go out of the house looking a hot mess. I'm just saying....

Look Who's Back

Hey, It's been a long pause. Too long I must say, but I was motivated by my mentor to refocus on my passion. Since I dropped the ball on this blog. I am picking it back up by sharing a conversation I had with a lady who told me she would never color her hair again because it "fell out". My response was, "I've been coloring my hair for over 25 years and as my own hair designer I use pre-lighter/"bleach" straight up and never had a problem."

THE QUESTION! So why is it that some women have severe hair loss and others don't?

THE ANSWERS! 1. The stylist may not have properly assessed the strength of the client's hair to see if it was able to withstand the process.
2.The stylist may not have giving the client the proper hair care maintenance following the process.
3. The stylist may have done the color too soon before or after a relaxer/perm.

Wow! It's mind boggling how many women and men are experiencing thinning of hair. Now what gets me, especially with men who have been growing their locks for many years is receded hairline. Who is paying attention! The hairline begins to go further and further back because the tension of the locks, or shall I say the twisting of the new growth is causing a major stress and thus the hair pulls out from the root. Come on hairstylists, this is like, malpractice! For this reason, I know many men who had to shave it all off and become bald, such extreme measures. Mind you, they were NOT my clients. School Braids for School Days

The Braids from Hell

Oh yes, I call them the braids from hell because my fingers were sore half way through the entire process. The good thing is, they look really pretty. The bad thing is, because this client is my daughter, she pays me nothing. However, she gets up constantly because she's thirsty or hungry. Then she has to stop to keep checking to see if I'm doing it right. After that, of course, the bathroom breaks. No, I have one better, the texting, phone calls and don't forget.....the "Oh no, now my phone is dead and I didn't bring my charger. Does anybody in the house have a charger I can use." Anyway, my work it done.

Summer Braids

Summer months are the toughest for my hair. So what works for me are braids. It's challenging because I do my own hair & have or better yet, don't trust anyone with there hands in my hair. Most of the time I will do my hair late night, after everyone goes to sleep or early morning, before everyone gets up. Here I am tonight getting ready to create something new. Every since I was able to decide who would put their hands in my head, I was very particular of my choice. I had two hairstylist in my experience and one was my former boss. Even with her, I wasn't too thrilled about the finished designs. Anyway, I didn't rely on them totally because I have been doing my hair for many years and although I would love to relax and let someone do it for me, I refuse to have just anyone in my hair. So to make sure I have the right energy, I do it myself.

Last Miniute Miracle

What I do as a Hair Dr. is find the root cause and remedy for hair loss and other hair challenges many may face. I am not a last minute miracle worker that can give you a quick fix to the a problem that has now escalated to a severe issue because you and your "hairstylist" failed to address the situation from the beginning.

There was someone who at one time had naturally beautiful hair after I assisted her with the transition from relaxer back to the basics. Then she left me for a while, but when she returned, she had a patch of hair in the middle of her head that broke off. So, I began taking her through the restoration process, but the breakage had not finished its course and do you know, indirectly she wanted to blame me. LOL, know dear, the Hair Dr. doesn't cause breakage, she restores and maintains healthy hair.

I have never had a client loss hair on my watch and never will. I am a Master at what I do...come see me!

Yes, I am still here. If you've missed me, it feels good to be missed. Enough of that, what's up in the Hair world? I'm not getting men with the black out. Yes, it makes their shape up look tight, but at the same time it doesn't look natural. What I do for my men clients is color in the thinner areas just a little with a colored liner. This helps keep the natural look flowing.

Natural Hair Journey

On the natural journey, I look to find ways that will keep my hair manageable. What works for me are braids. My hair is really kinky curly (tight curls) so if I don't blow it out or plat it while it's wet, I'm in hair mess. I am being more grateful of how the Most High created me, embracing my natural beauty and leaving the masks of weaves, make-up (well for this I use a little enhancement on my eyebrows & lashes because it seems He was short on the market when he added these to complement my facial features...LOL). Dry Itchy Scalp

Dry itchy scalp- many people will experience this condition during the spring and summer months. Some who are dealing with it now, tend to reach for topical solutions. That's not the answer. However, using hair oils and creams help to assist, but do not get rid of the problem. The major cause of dry itchy scalp is dehydration. Many people don't consume enough water on a daily basis. Increase your water intake-make sure it is at least 8 8 oz. glasses of alkaline water. After a week, you will notice a difference. Save Your Little Girls' Hair

Save the health of your little girls' hair. Take the time to maintain their natural hair by doing regular
conditioned treatments to make it more manageable. You can braid it or blow dry it while it's wet. Press it or flat iron their hair as long as you can, at least until the age of 15 or 16 years. So many women in their early 30's and even younger are losing their hair. The problem started from introducing chemical treatments at an early age. The Invisible Part; Very Visible

The "invisible part" was introduced in North NJ area some years ago. It was the hottest trend for women, young and old. The cost averaged around $100.00. I know too well because my daughter was caught up in it. The problem with this was she would get a fresh hairdo using the same technique in less than two weeks at a time for a few months. I noticed with women who were getting this invisible part weave hairstyle, the part seemed to get wider and wider after a few days. I could actually see how the hair strands around the original part was being pulled out from the root. Finally, my daughter decided to let me do the style for her and was able to keep it in for a month because I developed my own technique. My focus is on the health of the hair first.
