Graphics scalability, nVidia Physix, port to NeoAxis 1.0

Here's the graphics scalability comparison. High, Mid and Low settings respectively. Notice the fps counter in the upper left corner. The game can be played on anything from a netbook on low settings to running at 80fps on a mid range PC on high settings.

I've switched from ODE physics to nVidia Physx, brushing out the differences now, quite a tedious business :D

Ivan, the main man developing NeoAxis, has updated it to 1.0, so I'm in the process of updating SickBrick to it also. Bugs all around.

I've updated the enemies. Every type of enemy now shoots unique bullets, grenades, shells, etc.

The enemy turrets are now functional. They spice up the action nicely :D

I began work on the last two levels of the game. The final boss fight is going to be epic B)

Next up: Sound effects, speech,music, font, logs, animations,... anyways a lot of work still ahead.

TUTORIAL - How to make a boooring scene a little less boring

So, here's a tutorial. I'm tired of developing the game so I taught I'd share some of my game making expertise with you :D

First thing you do: A boring room:

Then you put some illogical lights around (nobody puts a light behind a giant fan in the real world :D) and enable shadows if you have an awesome engine like NeoAxis :D:

Then you put some props around and voila!:

Oh, and if you have an awesome engine like NeoAxis (again :D), add some water on the floor for special flare:

The Garbage Drums

This post is not game development related. Game developers and other types of nerds are instructed to ignore this post.

So, 6 months ago I decided I want to play the drums. I somehow managed to get 1800kn (that's about 360 USD) and I bought a used drum kit from some old guy who had a closed up old music shop.

Then, 4 months ago I had my 18th birthday and the cymbals got trashed (I have a friend who likes to beat on stuff with his head).
So I managed to get some money and buy a pack of Paiste's (german cymbal manufacturer) cheapest line of cymbals. The 101's.
Then I decided that the color of the drums was too shitty (literally) so I bought a green sparkly spray and started to disassemble the kit.
That's when I found out that the shitty color was actually some type of drapes just wrapped around the wood. Just look at the picture. IT'S A DRUM KIT MADE OUT OF GARBAGE PARTS.
SHIIITTTTTTT.

Oh. And then I sprayed them up. This is what they look like now:

Hell yeah! I'm so getting a green Jam Block now.

So, lets jump straight to the topic. My 3D models! I've made a fast selection of my best models (will search my hdd for more. They're scattered all over :-)).

Me, myself and I (always wanted to see myself in a video game:-))

I call him the CockODemon (pun slightly intended)

This baby is called THE SHOTGUN! (pretty original huh?)

These models were all made in Wings3D.
The textures were made in GIMP and Paint (THE SHOTGUN texture is hand drawn).

Next time I'll have some screenshots from my never-to-be-released game!
