I ran across this cool little metal sunflower in the alley off 21st & Arapahoe. No idea why it's there, but it's neat. Also, I think I should get the Photography Gymnastics award for getting this angle. It's right across from a parking lot with no high points, so I had to stand on top of a little concrete post, with my other foot on a bolt sticking out of another post, stabilized against a phone pole with my left hand and shooting with my right. That image stabilization was really earning it's keep on this one.

It must be a depressed economy when it's cheaper to get girls to pull wagons than horses.

Started life as a window, but it's just a nifty abstract thing now. I really just like the pebbled texture.

On one of my random walks down the alleys of downtown I found this pattern of light reflected from the windows of an office building, a bit of beauty in an otherwise drab alley. There was a man walking down this alley when I stopped to look. When I started snapping pictures he turned around, noticed what I was looking at, and told me he never would have noticed it. I take that as a compliment.

All that remains of a house I took a picture of back in December. Kind of sad isn't it? While I was taking this there was a lady on the phone trying to buy this piece of the house. I'm not sure if she ever did. Oddly enough she was there doing a research project on the Attorneys General of Colorado. Apparently one of them (1941-1945??) had lived in this area. This was the only house on that block -- maybe she missed it by a week. Then again, maybe not.

So what do you think the car is under that cover? Perhaps a Rabbit? (Sorry, I couldn't resist)

This is a case study in the Broken Windows theory of crime. This car has actually been tagged in at least three places (back doors, drivers door). How often do you see a car that's been tagged? I don't think I'd ever seen one until now. Apparently painting your car crazily makes it open season for taggers, much like breaking the windows makes it open season for pretty much everything from stripping it down to bums peeing in it. Oh, and it's also got a broken front window. I'm assuming that came later. Unless a broken window attracted some hyperactive, hippie graffiti artists who were so proud of their work that they tagged it. In which case you REALLY need to be careful about those broken windows.

Just kinda liked it. Not sure why. It's in a parking lot off 9th Ave.
