Template modification on Email functionality.

Go to an applet and click on F9 to send a email to creator or requestor, after selecting the recipient we get a email template which has body, attachment, Literature icons as well "Change Language/Locale" button.

Our requirement was to disable some of the controls from the email template.

Outbound communication use one common applet called as "Send Communication Applet", so to disable them go to that applet in tools, go to controls and inactive the controls which are not required, compile into the proper srf.

SOLUTION:

In Tools.cfg for parameter ClientConfigurationMode set the value to All.
By default it is web, by changing the value to all we can view hidden object type and hidden properties.

Siebel Object Manager

The object manager acts like a dedicated client except that it represents multiple clients instead of just one client. With this in mind, the object manager needs to understand how to display things on the screen, what rules to enforce, etc. To do this, the object manager reads the srf file on an as needed basis. The object manager will cache object definitions for the entire life of the process and will share this information with all clients that connect to this object manager. The object manager also manages client specific information. As a rule of thumb each client will add about 4 mb of memory usage to the object manger on top of all the object definition memory. This is a rule of thumb and can vary greatly depending on usage.

As thin clients log in and out of Siebel the object manager usage will go up and down. If all users log off the object manager processes may stick around for 20-30 minutes while timeouts are reached. Once all the user connections are cleaned up the object manager process, SIEBMTSH will shutdown. The "Minimum Multi-Threaded Servers" parameter value may prevent SIEBMTSH processes from shutting down.

Min MT servers govern how many processes to keep running when there is no activity for a component. One reason to do this is to avoid having a login delay when a thin client tries to connect and a new process is started to handle the request

Sometimes after setting the Auto Query Mode property of the Assoc Applet as "New Query", the applet opens in query mode but no operation can be done on it and the entire Application hangs.
To make the Application perform normally, the following one-liner script can be written in the Applet Load Event either in the Server side or in the Browser side:

For Attribute mapping "Interface Table Data column" not showing you extension column in Siebel Tools

Issue with EIM mapping extension column without Mapping wizard.

Suppose you have to create extension column X_USERID in S_ASSET and EIM mapping with EIM_ASSET.

1) Create extension column X_USERID in S_ASSET.
2) Create extension column X_AST_USERID in EIM_ASSET.
3) Create Attribute mapping in EIM Interface table in tools.

While creating record in EIM interface table, drop down list for "Interface Table Data column" not showing you extension column.

In this case, check if EIM Processing Column Flag is checked, After unchecking the flag, the column showed in the drop down list, and the attribute mapping could be created.

Diccache.dat

Diccache.dat is a cache file used by Siebel server programs to enhance performance when loading the Siebel Repository. Diccache.dat contains a subset of the repository (called the "dictionary") needed by the server programs. This subset includes information about tables, columns, indexes and docking objects.

Diccache.dat, located in the SIEBSRVR_HOME\bin directory, is accessed whenever a server program is started. The file is automatically recreated if the file does not exist or if it is out of date (The version number of the schema and repository is stored in the header of the file).

Dicdata.dat is a copy of diccache.dat file that is downloaded to mobile clients and used by the synchronization process whenever transactions are applied to the local database. It is the same as the diccache.dat file, but it is named differently for mobile clients. The Generate New Database component copies the diccache.dat to the dbtempl\\dicdata.dat file. When a mobile client synchronizes, the dicdata.dat is copied to the siebel_client_root\\dicdata.dat on the client machine.

Create a Component Job and Run a Repeating Component Request

Steps :
1) Navigate to Site Map > Administration – Server Management > Jobs.

2) Click the New button in the Repeating Component Job Submission applet to create a new request.

3) In the Component/Job field, select the component job created earlier.

4 )Specify the Repeat Interval. In the Repeat Interval field, enter the number of units in the interval between repetitions of the component request. In the Repeat Unit field, click the drop-down list and select the type of unit in the interval between repetitions of the component request. One example of the type of unit is Days.

5) In the Repeat From field, select the instance from which the next repetition of the request should be executed.

6) To select the instance when the previous iteration of the request was:

7) Scheduled to start, select Scheduled Start.

8) Actually started, select Actual Start.

9) Ended, select End.

10) In the Repetitions field, specify the number of times that the component request will be repeated.

11) In the Expiration date field, select the date when the repeating component request will expire.

12) In the Delete Interval field, specify the number of units in the duration before the repeating component request will be deleted.

13) In the Repeat Unit field, select the type of unit in the duration before the repeating component request will be deleted (such as Days).

14) After specifying all the fields as required, save the record.

15) In the Component Request Parameters (Repeating Batch Job Parameter list applet), specify the parameter values as required.

16) Once complete, click the Submit button. (For Siebel 7.7 or higher, click the Start button. )

17) Navigate to the Repeating Component Requests Detail view to verify that the request has the Queued status.

Synchronization process with the Remote Siebel Server TOC files

During synchronization process with the Remote Siebel Server TOC files which will be transfred from Docking Directory of the Siebel Server to the local user machine Inbox folder.

A TOC (Table of Contents) file is used to pass along the file attachment information among the remote use and the HQ database. It lists useful information (file name, file size, file table name, etc.) regarding file attachments referenced by the transactions stored in the DX file. The TOC file is required along with the dx file in order to properly store the attachment combined with the pointer to the attachment on the local client machine. When docking, the docking client retrieves the TOC file and then retrieves the attached files listed in the TOC file from the file system.

Analytics Version 7.8.2 downloading Analytics Reports to MS Excel Format produces garbled characters

Background
In Analytics Version 7.8.2 downloading Analytics Reports to MS Excel Format produces garbled characters in the Excel file if the MS Excel Version at the client machine is MS Excel 2000 or lower. This behavior affected both reports with table views and report with single table views.

Solution
Analytics 7.8.2 requires MS Excel 2002 or newer version to support download to MS Excel. This is to enable the download of Analytics report including charts with same look and feel as displayed in the Analytics Web Client. Versions of MS Excel prior to MS Excel 2002 do not support inline binary data to embed the charts therefore the garbled data displayed when the report is opened with older versions of MS Excel. As workaround users may opt to download the report to CSV format instead by making changes in viewcontrolmessages.xml file.

Print failure in PDF format

Background
Reports having large number of records might not print successfully when the user clicks on print button in PDF format.

Solution
Go to “SiebelAnalyticsData\web\config\instanceconfig.xml” file. Put in the following tags after Javahome tag

Please replace ( with < and ) with > in the above solution

The default value for the InputStreamLimitInKB is 1024. This limit puts a restriction in printing a report (which has a very large number of records) in PDF format. By setting it to 0, the limit can be deactivated and so all the records can be printed.

SAS (Siebel Analytics Server)

Background
In an environment where the Siebel Analytics Server (SAS) connects to an Oracle 9i database, the SAS stops responding and may also crash after some time, in any one of the following ways:
Siebel Analytics Web starts hanging after a few hours and new users are unable to login into Siebel Analytics Web.
Administrators cannot log into the Siebel Analytics Administration Tool in online mode.
The Siebel Analytics Server may crash. This is a random crash and happens when multiple threads are doing OCILogon() simultaneously. It is not always reproducible; you may run the test case multiple times before the crash occurs.
The only workaround is to restart the Siebel Analytics service.

This behavior is related to Oracle 9i versions and not to Siebel Analytics. Therefore, this behavior is observed on all versions of Siebel Analytics where Oracle client 9i is used.

Oracle has identified an issue with the Oracle OCI client which may cause the SAS to crash; the Oracle client which resides on the same machine as the SAS is unable to handle a number of concurrent threads to the backend Oracle database. Oracle has isolated the problem within the network layer of the client, and this behavior is fixed in the Oracle client 10g.

Solution
To resolve this behavior, here are the different options:
Use Oracle client version 10g on the SAS machine.
NOTE: Oracle supports Oracle client 10g with Oracle 9.2.0x RDBMS. Also note that Oci 10g has not been certified with Analytics 7.7.x, only with Analytics 7.8 but this should not cause any issues, although Oracle recommends that you upgrade Analytics to the latest 7.8 release at your earliest convenience.
Use Oracle client version 8.1.7.4 with its latest fix pack on the SAS machine (8.1.7.4.6 for Windows, and 8.1.7.4 for UNIX).
If neither of the options 1 or 2 is feasible, and you are using Oracle client version 9i, use the following workaround:
In the Oracle database client version that has the behavior, explicitly set the following parameter in the sqlnet.ora file, located in the %ORACLE HOME%\ora92\network\admin directory:

SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES=(NONE)

If this entry does not exist in the sqlnet.ora file, you will need to create it. Please ensure that there are no typographical errors in the sqlnet.ora file after you have added the specified parameter setting. This workaround does not have a performance impact.

If data insertion process does not work properly for Usage Tracking, do the following:
1. In the RPD, make a separate database object with a dedicated connection pool for insertion into S_NQ_ACCT table, i.e. only S_NQ_ACCT physical table will exist under this database object.
2. Check the connection pool properties, the 'Data source name' should be the TSN name, and the call interface is specified as OCI (in case of oracle db).

Note that the error details are recorded in NQServer.log, this would help in tracking the cause of the insertion failure.

Loading Account Parent-child hierarchy during the Initial Load into UCM

The way to do this in Siebel UCM 8.0 is to use the EIM_UCM_ORG table (one record per account), filling the PAR_OU_ID field with the ROW_ID of the related parent account. This entails the need to load parent accounts before respective children, and get their ROW_IDs. One tiny possible configuration is to add an EIM Foreign Key Mapping for the field S_UCM_ORG_EXT.PAR_OU_ID. This way, it would be possible to specify the parent account using its user key values (name, location, and organization) instead of the ROW_ID.

The attached document describes this change ("How To Add an EIM Foreign Key Mapping for S_UCM_ORG_EXT.PAR_OU_ID.doc").

But take into consideration that Oracle Siebel Expert Service must be involved before applying it in a production environment, since a modification to the S_UCM_ORG_EXT.PAR_OU_ID base table column is needed.

EIM uses temporary columns to manipulate data during processing. For example, EIM might store the ROW_ID value for a Siebel base table in a temporary column. These column names begin with T_ and indicate the table or column for which they are used. Because EIM uses these columns internally during processing, do not manipulate these columns in the EIM tables.

Each EIM table has three processing columns at the EIM table level:
1) T_DELETED_ROW_ID Deleted ROW_ID from the Base Table.
2) T_EXPORTED_ROW_ID Exported ROW_ID from Target Table.
3) T_MERGED_ROW_ID Merged into ROW_ID from Target Table.
Four processing columns for each table mapping:
1) Name : T_XXX_RID, Type: IFMGR: ROW_ID
2) Name : T_XXX_EXS, Type: IFMGR :Exists
3) Name : T_XXX_STA, Type : IFMGR : Status
4) Name : T_XXX_UNQ,Type : IFMGR: Unique

A user key specifies columns that must contain unique sets of values. It is used to determine the uniqueness of records during data import operations in EIM. The purpose of user keys is to prevent users from entering duplicate records.

A user key is designated by the name of its parent table with an _Un suffix, such as S_PROD_INT_U1. Each user key has User Key Column child objects that specify the table columns that must have unique values, for example BU_ID, NAME, and VENDR_OU_ID in the S_PROD_INT_U1 user key. A predefined index exists for each Siebel-defined user key. This index also takes the form S_TABLE_NAME_Un.

Do not modify user keys in standard Siebel tables or EIM base tables. This is a restricted activity and should not be attempted without assistance.

Compile changes and see the result in Application. The Delete button is
