Teluk Gorek Chalet and Camp Site

This trip we are going chalet, fishing and relaxation trip. This venue is around 2 hours driving time from Johor Bahru and distance is about 150km. This place actually very clean, well taken care with every morning workers cleaning and throwing rubbishes.

Photos taken in front of our rented chalet. RM100 per night per chalet with Air-con and hot water shower...We took 2 chalets. Our chalets are facing the South China Sea view!

Let's take a look inside the chalet room:

Their room key has a special keycard to slot from bottom up and people cannot detach the room key away from the round chain so it's very safe.

Their queen bed is comfy and freshly changed bedsheets and others. Room space is adequate enough to cater additional 4-5 adults on floor sleeping as well.

Let's take a look at their other facilities:

The main office and as well as the eating area for holiday makers.

Their resting tavern are very clean well maintained.

Have 4 resting taverns where holiday makers can rest and picnic inside.

There's a hall for usages as well. They've been catering for governmental bodies like FRU, Police, Teaching instituitions, schools and etc...

There's a multi purpose hall for other usages as well.

There's dormitory and other chalet at their surrounding as well.

The view of the camping grounds...well protected from direct afternoon sunlight! Good area!.

They have kayak for rentals as well for only RM10 per hour!!! Cheap!!

They even prepared beach volleyball for holiday maker's fun time.

Their outdoor showering area for those making campsites. Their shower has good privacy with good doors and lock (got good privacy).

The beaches are buzzling with activities from holiday makers...

Even my princess also fishing hard!!! but actually flying her kite with fishing rod.

Time to cook our freshly caught fishes..we caught around 20x small fishes for our extra food menu...

Area condition : very clean and well taken care.

Lighting condition at night : Good and sufficient. Well lighted.

Conclusion : HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO ALL HOLIDAY MAKERS!!!!
as I would be making another trip there again for my family. Clean and well maintained. This is one the of the beach where i can swim and play seawater without getting any sea insect bites !!!

Tiram Fishing & Resort (2nd Visit)

This is our 2nd visit as the previous visit was not good as didn't catch fishes so we gonna try it again.

Kota Kinabalu Town

This month travelling is for work wise in Kota Kinabalu. Been invited to Kota Kinabalu to bless and as well as UV Sakyant devotee in that area.

Now it's time for makan!!!!!

Just look at the seafood that being served and sold at the so called night market where you can pick your seafood choices and they immediately served you with local rice and local "sambal belancan"

Just take a look at that size of squid!!! Bigger than my palm!. Cost around RM20 per big one!

Kota Kinabalu's local seaweed....taste good!.

This is my dinner which really really nice and cost around RM45 which doesn't come cheap.

Their BBQ chicken wings are cheap at RM1.20 only where else in JB would easily cost RM2.50 at certain places.

Kinabalu's style of Ice Kacang....hmmm...nothing spectacular.

Kota Kinabalu's Roti Prata is very expensive at Rm1.10 per pcs where else in JB would only cost Rm0.80!

Their ice milo is worst at RM4 where else JB only around RM2.50! Their roti prata shops sure earns big money!!!!

Mid Valley MegaMall

After our Ikea shopping yesterday, we proceeded to our next favourite shopping area that's Mid Valley Megamall. Lucky we arrived early at Mid Valley around 1100 hrs as later on the parking lots were full!!! As it's still christmas season therefore have plenty of christmas decorations and lightings surrounds the Mega Mall area.

My Family had our fun of walking and walking for hours and our legs can hardly moves anymore so we call it a day and started our journey back to Johor Bahru (estimated 350 km) at around 1600 hrs.

Conclusion : Good place for shopping and still remains our favourite shopping centre.

Ikea Damansara

This month's trip is to go window shopping in Petaling Jaya. Our first stop was IKEA Damansara, Petaling Jaya. IKEA is well-known for their furnitures and household accessories so we decided to travel around 360km for it from Johor Bahru. Our last visit to IKEA Damansara was around 8-9 years ago therefore we are making this trip to feast our eyes and new concepts of furnitures and accessories.

Their furnitures ranges from households to office/business usages with wide ranges..really feast our eyes.

Their study rooms decorations was nice...look at the big lighted ceiling ball!...nice!.

My wife loves their kitchen decorations and accessories.

Look..they also have toys sections!!!!

Now we travelled from their show rooms to their warehouse area (as background shown).

We have exited from IKEA Mall and continued our window shopping at the outside mall IKANO (outside IKEA shopping area)

My princess waited for sometime for this photo taking as got other kid refused to leave the toy house and we came back for the photo taking after our dinner.

My family total spent around 6 hours at IKEA shopping Mall plus outside mall.

Conclusions: Very good feasting for our eyes and new concepts at IKEA.

Tiram Fishing & Resort

This trip we are enroute to our fishing kelong called Tiram Fishing & Resort which floats in the middle of Sungai Johor, off Sungai Layang.

That's the kelong's boat parking bay.......

Once entered the kelong, we report ourselves to the admin counter:

After we had finished checking in, we proceed to our room:

Each room consists of 2 single beds and one wall fan.

Now let's check out the kelong's facilities and their surroundings:

The kelong actually breed fishes in the cages and once big enough in size, they will be sold to the market.

The Kelong has a long and big jetty which can accommodate around 50-75 person fishing per time:

OK..now it's fishing time.....

Even my little princess also takes up her position to fish... hahaha...she's just 4 years plus old but definitely into the sport as well.

If you're tired, no worries, there's resting hammock where my little princess took her nap after tiring fishing day:

Part of our bait consists of "live prawns" which the kelong provides and sold at 50cent per prawn.

Now come nightfall and we still continues our fishing challenges:

Now it's late around 1+ am and everyone's tired....but still has the fishing mood therefore resting on the hammock...while awaiting for fishes to bite our baits.

Sungai Layang - Johor River Jetty

This month's adventure trip; to go Kelong Fishing Trip. We will have to stop at this jetty prior reaching our kelong destination and change over for boat ride.

The road in was quite smooth as shown in the picture below:

Our journey took us from Permas Jaya to Pasir Gudang to Kong Kong and cut thru the semi estate road before reaching this small lane road which leads to our Sungai Layang jetty.

Just outside the jetty, you will see our Sungai Layang Water Damp which then you will know you had reached the destination:

Immediate once passed the Sungai Layang Water Damp, turn right into a small yellow soil pathway (downhill slope) and will reach the jetty for our boat ride.

Now we had reached our jetty, let's check out the place:

From the pictures...you can see that it's a kampung style jetty and it's also a stopover for fishing kakis to have their meals before / after going to the Kelong as below:

Bob Homestay

Wah, finally another mid of the month which mean i am going for my next adventure trip again. This time we are going to the Johor Lama for a night stay at Bob Homestay. Travelling from JB to destination takes around an hour and 10 minutes or so depending on the traffic and vehicle speed. We are travelling around 80-90km averagely.

Once you reach the Johor Lama, the Johor River Mouth (Sungai Johor) one can see that it's a fishing village. Estimated the whole village have got around 52 houses only. It may not look populated area but it's definitely has it's charm.

After travelling straight from the fishing village or jetty, we reached our destination: Bob's Homestay.

Now we reached and checked in the riverside chalet (chalet on the riverside), time to check around the places.......

This is the riverside chalet that we had checked in. Noticed that it has a jetty joining up to it therefore it's very convenient for us to fish as well. Our main motive this trip : Fishing!!!!

Now let's check our rooms...

Pictures taken inside our first floor rooms, 2 bedrooms with dressing table + TV and of course personal toilet with hot showers. Boy...their water pressures was very very good!!!!! as good as 5 star hotel's water pressure!!!! Total 4 queen size beds (2 downstairs and 2 upstairs) to accommodate 8 pax).

Ok...now to go out to check the surrounding areas...

For budget travellers, this a simple bed where one can sleep and enjoy the riverside breeze.

There's a few type of the chalet available depending on your taste as well.

There's even wadding pool for kids...

During fishing, our friend's cowboy hat was blown away by heavy winds so we quickly rent the kayak to retrieve it!.

Finally we retrieved Jacky Wong's cowboy hat after it had drifted around 300M away from our Jetty.

Some good catches of the day, eventhough small but good quantity enough for our additional BBQ food.

ARRGGGHHHH!!!!! Power Failure.....starts around 7:30pm and luckily we are all prepared with our super bright LED camping lamps and torchlight!!!! Really gave us COLD mood into our night!!!! The electricity failure throughout the whole village and only came back around 5+am the next day!!!

Mosquito infestation : Very High during night time (we simultaneously burnt 20x mosquito coils surround our eating area alone).
Wind conditions: Very very windy during day time but no breeze during night.

Johor Lama Fort

This is the place where the sultanate of Johor begins. It was built in 1540 during the reign of Sultan Alauddin Riayat Shah II (1528-1564). This fort was the best defense fort built along the Sungai Johor. After the fall of Malacca Sultanate in 1511, Sungai Johor became the reigning centre when Malacca lost their territory to Portugese when they invade Malacca, they shifted their uphold to Johor Lama Fort. It was the best defense territory against Portugese. The natural environment of the fort makes it easier to monitor the movement of ships in Sungai Johor. In 1548, they lost the territory and fell to Portugese after 3 months of battle and food supplies being cut off from outside world (Portugese surrounds the Fort). The whole fort was burnt down and all assets including weapons were not spared and taken away.

Here after a night stay at Bob Homestay at Johor Lama, we decided to visit this Johor most historical site where Johor begins. The road leading to the fort and the information centre was just a very tight small lane which is just enough for one vehicle passing thru as shown below:

After driving for some distances we arrived at the information centre which consists of the Johor Lama Fort as well. At first we were unsure if it's the correct pathway as the road was tight and only meant for single vehicle passing only but we continued the journey uphill and finally reached destination.

This is place where the fort lies with the empty cannon areas as all the cannons were not spared and taken away by the Portugese.

This photo taken was with a ghostly image beside me (maybe the "Penunggu" or the local spirit checking us out) but it wasn't something to be scared off as we are standing at the place where hundreds or maybe thousands died during the war of 15th century with the Portugese so therefore it's common with these type of scenario.

Next we check out the information centre with infos about the old Fort stories and historical matters.

No photo taking were allowed in the information centre since it consists of historical objects hence there's no photographs of inside the place. There's no entrance fee required but registrations of guests is a must to sign in.

Firefly Valley Leisure Park

Family Outing at Firefly Valley Leisure Park - Jalan Kota Tinggi.

On our way back from our homestay at Johor Lama, we dropped by this leisure park for our next outing.

The road leading the leisure was bumpy and yellow soil roads passing thru the oil palm plantations....so prepare for a car wash after the visit.

It's a good test drive area for your vehicle's absorber units....hahahaha.

Arrived at the Leisure park and the entrance charges : Adult RM2 and children RM1 which is very reasonable.

The leisure farm serves food as well. It doesn't contain any pork or beef.

The leisure park attendant was very kind and he serves us as our tour guide along our sight seeing. First he took out Australian soft shell turtle where it's shell is really SOFT to touch. It was imported from Australia for public's viewing and understanding.

There's signboards just in case you get lost!...but you won't so don't worry about it.

Next we continue to the rabbit's arena. Wow, the rabbit arena have plenty full of rabbits and we can actually feed the rabbits. Rabbit pellets are sold RM1 per packet. We bought the rabbit food/pellet at the entrance.

As the photo shows that my family members really had their fun feeding the rabbits from our their hands. It was really an experiences for able to get so close to the rabbits and feed them. The rabbits will basically comes to you once you stepped into the rabbit arena and of course they are all well fed!!!.

As you can see the photo above, the park also have other type of birds, lizards, animals as well.

Next after feeding the rabbits, continued our sight seeing the park.

Along the man made river, these goose caught our attention as they swam cruising pass us making their "Hello" noises.....

There's one healthy walkway for those who wanted to try out the foot rock reflexology.

We continued our journey to the playground!!!!

Oh yes..there's even a playground for kids and adults to have fun together.

Next to go over to the firefly arena/area. Since it's day time therefore there will not have any firefly around to display their lights.

The bridges connects to the firefly area (swamp area).

There's the area for firefly watch area. There's no firefly around but there's plenty of monkeys around.See below photos.

Since there's plenty of monkeys around so beware if any visitors whom carrying things as they might snatch your belongings. Just becareful as they're wild monkeys and not under the leisure parks responsibility.

Next, we are going over to the fish cage area for fish feeding and viewings. Fish food/pellet are sold RM1 at the entrance.

Note that there's a big water flywheel which functions as water pump or to bring the water from the pond to the fish cages.

Now let's feed the KOI fishes....

OK..since we are allow to pull the strings of the cages to bring up the cages, let's find out what's in the fish cage as below:

Wow, the fish cage nets are sure heavy to pull up luckily the park attendant helps to pull the strings up for us to view the fishes in the cage. There's around 12 cages in total. Every fish cages contains different type of fishes so customers can order fresh fish for their meal in their inhouse restaurant. Since they've got their own restaurant and we are hungry and thirsty so let'head for our lunch.

We ordered simple and fast cooking food for our hungry tummy. For that we ordered 7x ice kacangs at RM2.50 each, 5x normal fried rice at RM4.50 each, 3x egg fried rice at RM6.00 each and drinks. Simple and good which is enough to fill up our tummy and thirst from the sun.

Conclusions:

Entrance Fee: RM2 per Adult and RM1 per children.

Park setup : Good and above average

Friendliness : Very good (Park attendant).

Cleanliness : 4/5

Food : Very average 3/5

Overall : 3.5 as the area is not big otherwise it can turn into a theme park.

Tian Hou Goong Temple - Jalan Kota Tinggi.

Family Outing on Temple Visitation.

It's our last trip of adventuring before we goes back to Johor Bahru, so we decided to visit this Tian Hou Goong Temple located at up hill quarry place and beside the Johor Riverside with good views. It was built in 1861 by chinese workers whom worked at the quarry rocks. It's located next to the Firefly Valley Leisure park at Jalan Kota Tinggi (around 800 meters before Kota Tinggi Traffic light) if cruising from Johor Bahru to Kota Tinggi.

The temple is facing the Johor River. The view is very nice and windy during day time.

There's a jetty leading to the temple entrance. There's many fishing boats around making their daily fishing trips.

Euro Fun Park

Family outing at Euro Fun Park
15th September 2010

After celebrating my friend's birthday, we decided to visit Euro Fun Park which was suppose to the biggest Mobile Fun Park built in Johor Bahru. The theme park usually last only 14 days to a month depends on locations before they moved on to another location. This theme park consists of many heart throbbing and giving people dizzy & spinning rides of their life.

It's located next to the new GIANT Ulu tiram. Driving time around 20 mins from JB.
Their entrance fee charges : RM4/adult and RM2/children

Let's enter the EURO Fun Park and enjoy ourselves.

We all starts by buying the tokens/tickets for the EURO WHEEL.

Our next ride is in the background scene which when they spins, it will sends you almost horizontal position spinning.

Okay, now sit on this hanging chair and get ready for the spinning ride.

Look at the background spinning!!!! That's where we sat earlier on. That's fun.

Now it's time for spinning horse rides for my little princess.

Here the background is another spinning ride but my little princess prefers to see people riding it rather than herself.

There's many types of spinning rides which i didn't take any photo shots as we were all riding it or playing it therefore our hearts were in the game!.. hahaha.... There's many games booths as well. Games like throwing balls, guns shooting things/target boards, netting ducks, Bingo, throwing rings unto bottles and many more....

Overall :

Pricing for items/rides : between 3-5 tokens (Rm2/token)

Total damages done for the night: RM150 or so for 5 pax family members.

Mutiara Motors Resort

Camping at Beach side
10-11 Sept 2010

Our this month's trip----Oh Yeah!!! camping trip at Kampung Sedili Kecil, around 86km away from JB (N 01 50.645' E 104 08.220')

The journey up was quite badly jammed from Kota Tinggi road leading to Desaru junction, so we slowly makes our way there. For total 86km journey, it took us around nearly 1.5 to 2 hours to reach destination.

Upon reaching the resort, it was raining heavily therefore we hurry up and sets up our canopy tents, our kitchen & eating tables and tents. As seen in the photo, we are all drenched wet due to the downpour.

Finally the rain stops and we had fully set up our camp site and prepares to venture around....

Here we go venturing around at the chalets, looking for any interesting places for games or any activities to do. After much walking around, we found a place to play our own beach side volleyball with our own badminton net.

On our way back to JB, we stopped by "Jason Bay" which was around 3-4km down the road from Mutiara Motors Resort for our next beach side adventure. The public toilet was "CLOSED"!. What's called public toilet when it's closed forcing beach side goers to bleach along the beach side....and below are the photos taken for the outing at Jason Bay.

Good place for camp site: 3.5/5

Mosquito Damage : 4.5/5 (Highly infected area)

(Maybe due to our campsite near the toilet area therefore wet and damp - mosquito breeding ground)

Value for Money: 3/5

Total Damage: RM150

(RM40 per site, we took 4 sites x RM40 and RM35 for BBQ facilities: total RM195 but got discount from the chalet in charge. Total chargeable RM150)

Additional infos: Mosquitoes not scared of any kind of repellents!!! We tried OFF!, VEET, etc...all not working!!!!

Permas Mall

Night Scenery Outing
4th Sept 2010

Well, I had always been in Permas Jaya since my shop is in Permas Jaya itself but took some scenery shots at Permas Mall, next to Permas Jaya JUSCO to share with everyone.

The night scenery here is good for photo taking.

It has many sitting places to take photographs around as well.

The trees here are all well-lighted up for the night.

Even the plants also well-lighted up for the night.

Can see from the background view that the Permas Mall are well decorated with thousands of LED lights for the MOODS.

Permas Mall consists of budget botels, restaurants (Japanese/Korean/Eastern/Western Food), Maybank, Permas Jaya Police Station, drinking and chit-chat shops selling Beers, snacks, etc.

Verdict:

If you wanna have a drink or 2 in a semi quiet area, this would be nice place as it's cosy and cool ambience.

Malacca Butterfly and Reptile Sanctuary

Historical Malacca Trip (Day 2/2)
14th August 2010

Second day of our trip ends at visiting the Malacca Butterfly and Reptile Sanctuary Farm at Ayer Keroh. It's situated just next to the Ayer Keroh Toll exit. It houses not only butterflies but birds, reptiles, fishes and other species as well.

KOI fishes swimming freely in their ponds. Visitors are allowed to feed them with supplied fish pellets (you'll need to buy from the souvenir shop)

Wow....be careful BIG CAT is around!!!!

Ostriches are freely roams in their cages!!! I think there's more than 10 species around if I didn't remembers it wrongly.

I liked their beak and horns!!!!! They're called the HORN Bird of Sarawak!!!!!

Watch it man....there's crocs!!!! Don't ever jump over the fences for closeup photography..or else...you'll ends up in their stomach.

There's many type of snakes around here..so beware and try to recognise them if you can!!!!

I love the colour of their feathers!!!! Wanted to pick one for souvenir but CANNOT!!!!

There's this naughty otter which splashes water unto my daughter when she was about to pass his area...he must be a male species!!! hahahaha....

Well that ends our journey in Malacca and we left in a hurry as it was about to heavy downpour soon.

Historical Malacca Trip (Day 1/2)
13th August 2010

Malacca was founded by a fleeing prince from Sumatra in 14th century, it developed into a major trading port for ships from India and China. As the Melaka Sultanate flourished, the Portuguese conquered Malacca in 1511. Later the Dutch took over in 1641 until much later the British empire ruled Malacca. The state finally obtained independence with the then "Malaya states" in 1957. Today, one will find many remnants of the glorious past dated back more than 500 years ago.

We started from the foothill of the St. Paul's Hill and our target is the St. Paul's Church (on top of the hill), once the prayer house of the Portuguese Catholics, then turned into burial ground for their noble dead by the Dutch. The tombstones have Latin and Portuguese inscriptions on them. St. Francis Xavier was buried here in 1553 before his body was moved to Goa in India.

Along the ascend of the hill we had taken numerous historical photos as well. This photo taken was the very old fire engine in the background which were used in the early 90's.

There a few very old and big trees which captivates most people's eyesight. It's located along the parking bays below the hill.

As we continue the journey up the hill, there's a small gate to the "Democratic Government Museum". The gates are closed therefore do not know what's inside.

As we slow ascent along the rounding of the "Democratic Government Museum", we stopped to take a photo of the slight overview of Malacca. There's the Malacca Police Central can be seen on the backdrop bottom.

After our slow climbing of the hill, finally we reached the hilltop of the St. Paul's Hill, there's the Saint Paul Church. Photo taken was St.Francis Xavier who was buried here in 1553 before his body was moved to Goa in India.

Here's the entrance of the ruin church.It was once the prayer house of the Portuguese Catholics, then turned into burial ground for their noble dead by the Dutch.

The tombstones have Latin and Portuguese inscriptions on them with some dated as old as 1650. The tombstones are really big!

As we moves to descend the hill, there's one Dutch graveyard ground entrance but we didn't visit there.

Here's one graveyard which marks the burial ground for one whole family during one massacre. As young as a few months old baby wasn't spare at all.

We continued our journey downhill and reached the well known historical A'Famosa Fort site. After the Portuguese captured Malacca, they built a fortress to defend themselves. The fortress, called A'Famosa suffered severe destruction during the Dutch invasion. What's left today is just the entrance walls, still well preserved till today.

Finally we reached the foothill of the other side of the hill. The real plane of the old Twin Propeller powered "Twin Pioneer CC MK1" was situated at the garden ground of the foothill.

Finally we can take a rest after almost an hour of walking. My daughter immediate takes up the cold 100 Plus and here we drank it up...wah shiok!.

Took a slow walks after a rest, here we reached the other end of the hill which reached the "Christ Church Malacca" built in 1753, another fine example of the Dutch architecture.. The Stadthuys (1650) was the official residence of the Dutch Governor. It now houses the Historic Museum and Ethnography Museum which has many traditional bridal costumes and relics on display.

At the evening time, we visited "Jonker's Street" or Malacca Pasar Malam. Jonker's Street, once the richman's street is now a living proof of Malacca's rich baba-nyonya heritage. The buildings are immaculately constructed with elaborate carvings on its pillars and walls. The street is also famous for its antique shops. We had totally forgotten to take photographs of where we went as we were busy shopping for food and goodies...next trip when i go over there again, will definitely blogs it up!.
