Sig Sauer has been rolling new models out one after another this year. We saw a number of new P238 models – the Liberty and Copperhead. Then the P226 and P229 Enhanced Elite models were announced.

Today’s announcement is for a new P226 model with an alloy frame and the pistol is presented in a reverse two tone finish. This new model features the same ergonomic (E2) grips as the new Enhanced Elites as well as the earlier E2 (e-squared) models. It also has a Short Reset Trigger (SRT), SIGLite night sights, and ships with two magazines. The frame is coated with Cerakote – a high performance ceramic based coating that gives it the look of Stainless but a lighter weight. The model number for this new model is E26R-9-CRTSS.

The new P226 Cerakote has an estimated initial ship date of early October and will have a MSRP of $972. More details will be posted as they become available.

New P226 & P229 Enhanced Elite Models

We just received some information about another two new Sig Sauer pistols. These new models are called Enhanced Elite, specifically the P226 Enhanced Elite and P229 Enhanced Elite. The summary from Sig Sauer breaks them down:

The “Enhanced Elite” models thake the same features common to all Elite series pistols and combine them with the ergonomic one piece reduced reach grips used in our E2 pistols. Available in both P226 and the upgraded P229-1 (using the same slide configuration as the P229 E2), these pistols bring the advantages of the one piece modular grip to a wider audience.

Features:

P226 or P229 chambered in .357SIG, .40S&W or 9mm

P229 9mm magazine capacity is 15 rounds

One piece reduced reach ergonomic grip with updated stippling pattern

Beavertail frame with front strap checkering and accessory rail

Slide features “Elite” engraving and front cocking serrations

SRT Short Reset Trigger System

SIGLITE Night Sights

(2) magazines

The MSRP for both Enhanced Elite models is $1,200 and the model numbers will be:

P226: E26R-9-ESE, E26R-40-ESE and E26R-357-ESE
P229: E29R-9-ESE, E29R-40-ESE and E29R-357-ESE

These models are slated for a nearly immediate release. More detailed photos will follow soon.

Sig Sauer P238 BSS Photos

We have the P238 BSS (blue finish with night sights) back in stock and snapped some detailed photos. The P238 BSS was one of the first 238 models with night sights released in early 2009 and was one of the first models (along with the Two Tone with night sights – the P238 TSS). These have been in extremely short supply as a result of very large back orders that were placed with Sig Sauer in January of 2009 at the annual SHOT Show. Sig is just now filling these orders that have been outstanding for roughly 19 months!

Along with the P238 Copperhead, Sig Sauer announced the P238 Liberty today. Like the Copperhead, the P238 Liberty edition has a Nitron slide with 24K selective gold inlay, Sig night sights, rosewood grips, and a nitron slide.

From the spec sheet:

Since its introduction in 2009 the P238 has redefined the role of a .380ACP caliber pistol for personal protection. The “Liberty” edition, available for a short time in limited quantities, pays tribute to our founding fathers’ vision of a society free from tyranny. The “Liberty” features a rendering of the Liberty Bell in 24K selective gold inlay. The text “We The People”, from the Preamble of the Constitution adorns the slide. Own the pistol our founding fathers would have been proud of – the P238 Liberty.

While these models were just announced, we do not yet have a firm release / delivery date. We will post detailed photos of the new models as they become available. We will also post any new information about them as we can.

Update 8-3-10 – I found out that there is a typo in the spec sheet on the sight radius – it is 3.8″ and barrel length is 2.7″. The MSRP on this model is $699.

Sig Sauer P238 Copperhead

Sig Sauer just released two new P238 models. The first is the P238 Copperhead. This model has a Nitron slide with 24K selective gold inlay, Sig night sights, a copper colored frame, and an engraving of a snake on the top of the slide. It is chambered in .380. See the full product spec sheet below.

The P238 Copperhead is new for 2010 along with the P238 Liberty. Along with the Copperhead and Liberty, the P238 TL was added for 2010.

The P238 Copperhead is one of the first P238 models to have a gold inlay.
