It's WOOF Thursday...and today we introduce you to Cameron! He's our production ninja and some know him as Big Country. If you've ever had a sign done by SignDog, he's probably produced it. Born in Puyallup, he grew up in Buckley and now lives in Des Moines. He's the young gun of the crew and is our jack of all trades. A former BMX racer, he likes to stay involved with talking smack and watching races but enjoys being retired. If he's not working on accomplishing your signage needs you can find him anywhere there is laughter or line dancing. He likes long walks on the beach---while catching fish, hanging with friends around a camp fire and being an uncle. Good times and good vibes are something he seeks while working and on the weekends. A river at sunset during salmon season is his favorite place to be. He's currently busy at SignDog Media on some awesome new signage for our friends at Elements Frozen Yogurt vehicle marketing for 4Evergreen Countertops and working on himself at Armstrong Fitness (whom we cover signage for).If, you see him at the shop be sure to give him a big high five or if, you spot him at the Big Whiskey definitely give him a shout!]]>

Importance of Social Media and a Website. In my short time at DesignDog I've sat in many client meetings. Customers approaching us about graphic design, social media, web development, and much more. One repetitive topic I continue to hear about is Social Media VS. Web Site. Why have a website if their Facebook page, Etsy, and Pinterest keeps their business alive. Well, let’s take a look. Social Media is a huge craze with lots of credibility for all types of businesses but let’s not forget the good ol’ inter web. Why? It’s simple. Facebook limits you and your consumers to word of mouth and drive-bys as the internet opens a market where they can directly search for you, type in your website, and they can search keywords that will help direct them to you. So many clients talk about their Social Media and say “Well it works for me”, “That’s how I've always done it”, “I get referrals all the time” and that is awesome! We want to hear that and we know all those platforms work great or we wouldn't manage those ourselves. But in short 4 reasons why you can’t forget a website.#1 – It creates validity to your company. Your business becomes a more serious business because you have a website. How many companies don’t have a website and then you question their reputation.#2 – When people go on the web to search for your business you are not limited to the surrounding area. They most likely won’t be linked to your Facebook via a Keyword search. You have an opportunity to reach all 50 states and even consumers internationally. #3 – Customers enjoy being able to log on to your website and find the information they need to get connected to you, and to learn more about your product and services. How many times have you searched for a restaurant and all you get is their Yelp or a Menu.com link that is a picture of the restaurant’s menu. #4 – Last but not least if, you’re not willing to create a website for your brand someone else is. And that other cross fit company, salon or spa, and landscaping company will be gaining the customers you might be losing. Recap – Social Media is not better than a Website and a Website is not better than Social Media. Combined together they create a strong presence and they balance each other out. You shouldn't have one without the other your business needs them.
