NiT GriT throws up something more melodic than his usual and I like it all the more. “Purple” has that relaxing viibe to it, but in an abstract kind of way that I’d expect from a bass hound like GriT.

Joe Maz had me at DiscoTech, a disco duo which he was a part of, but now he’s up to some fiine solo work.

In his latest remix, Maz takes on Foster the People’s “Color On The Walls (Don’t Stop)” and electro-guitars the shit out of it, making it ever more dance worthy. This man needs to start pumpin more of these ’cause these are dance floor killers… especially in Miami (bet they do already).

This really is a monster of a track (no pun intended). Alexander Lager & Johannes Gustafsson have kicked off their career as Qulinez (pronounced ‘cool lines’) with a bang, staying strong at number 7 on Beatport’s top-ten after two weeks. With backing from Steve Angello, though, it’s no surprise. While we have been given no dates or specifics, the duo say that they have a number of other originals, remixes, and bootlegs waiting to be released.

There’s so much to say about “Troll.” It has everything: melodic progressive house synths, face-melting electro bass, and even a tech-house inspired riser. It’s pretty much exactly how I aim to create musically. Keep an eye on these two, they’re going places.

Marley mixed into some melodic dubstep… how has this not been overdone? Colatron takes Datsik’s “Havoc” & Eleven8′s “Colours of Distance” and weaves Bob Marley’s “Is This Love” lyrics right into the intricate ‘steps. I do wish the quality was a bit fuller, but this mashup matched up too nice not to tell y’all about it.

When I looked at U-Tern’s latest, “Da Da Daa Daa,” I thought it was going to be joke just based off the name. Well, this is no joke and “Da Da Daa Daa” is one soothing hypnotic electro piece with a bit of the dubstep thrown in ever so slightly… if you can throw in dubstep slightly. This is certainly a Tern in a different direction that I’m down for.

I’ll praise any masher that chooses an underground MC over any of the mainstream hip-hop that’s being overly mixed & mashed nowadays. Not only that, taking a beat from anyone other than the stereotypical EDMer is a big bonus.

In The Hood Internet’s “Shadow Cruising” mashup, it’s so good to hear Lyrics Born on a fresh beat. It makes me wonder what his new album with Lateef is going to sound like. Well, if it’s anything like this, it’ll be a welcomed change.

There’s something about glossy synths and hushed vocals that gets me in a way no other kind of music does. Its kind of hard to describe actually, now that I try to.  The L.A.-based duo comprised of Jamie Leffler and Robert Cepeda have been releasing songs under the name DWNTWN for about a year now.

Just by scrolling through their website, one can imagine what kind of music they create. Faded photos and instagrams abound, conjuring the same kinds of memories and feelings as artists such as Washed Out and Memory Tapes aim to bring out in people. Also, please watch the video, it’s quite nice.

Damon Albarn puts that memorable, monotone voice to good use in “DoYaThing” with backups by Andre 3000 and James Murphy on the production. As much as I love to hear Albarn’s soothing vocals, Andre 3000 was the add-on that this shit needed. “Dose of Dopeness” has been in the works since Cudi’s breakout hit, “Day N Night,” and it’s been hypin’ steadily ever since. It’s got the usual Cudder flow with a delicate beat to match up, but it doesn’t seem to have that punch to make it anything better than a few days hype.

Their new album & moniker, WZRD, will also be released next week. Should be a whole different style coming from these two.

Coyote Kisses have finally released a legit EP, titled after their “Acid Wolfpack” track, and although it’s still just a little tease, I’m happier than hell they’ve finally packed a few together.

The Acid Wolfpack EP consists of the title track, one new original and a remix of Gotye’s already classic, “Somebody That I Use to Know.” And as much as the two originals kill it, especially “Acid Wolfpack,” people are gonna be eatin up that Gotye remix. There may be a shitload of “Somebody That I Use to Know” remixes and a shitload more to come, CK puts in that signature electro-bass that’ll get those Gotye fiends a fiending for something different.

Props to Joe & Bryce on a healthy start to an illustrious electro career.

I don’t think I’ve ever disliked a Raw Poetic track. This may not be surprising if you’re listening to “Streamline,” but I rarely ever like every song of someone’s. (knock on wood)

PRJCTS’ “Eastside Wasteland” combines that jazzy soul with well dictated raps. This isn’t just some poet tryin to get his words across, but real verbal artistry in the works. Love the style these two are pushin, although the quality in production, whether intended or not, needs some polishing. Still, much better than the original.

Oh . no . he . didn’t! ENiGMA made for one of the best dubstep remixes of 2011 with his remix of Afrojack & Steve Aoki’s “No Beef” and now he’s doin dirty on Nate Dogg?? Oh, hell yes!

“I Got Love” gets drumstepped on by ENiGMA and sounds fresher than ever. It’s actually the first time I think I get what the difference between drumstep & dubstep are. But it really doesn’t matter, I’m so damn sick of these subgenre’s, it’s all Bass Music to me.

After he impressed the world with his October’s Very Cold project, Chi Duly is back with his latest offering entitled Balloon of Haus. The 11 track offering showcases Chi Duly’s take on some of The Weeknd’s most popular tracks spanning from his three mixtapes.

According to Chi Duly, “Balloons of Haus is house music for the “I’m not really into techno” folks. It’s uptempo but more to the point (free of those minute long intros/breakdowns of arbitrary ambience). The concept was born of my interest in bringing The Weeknd’s vibe to a DJ set. He’s talking about what every other artist you hear in the club is talking about except he’s artistic, emotionally believable. The Weeknd’s subject matter is already club friendly. The pace however was only bedroom friendly. My project still retains that laid back, mellow uptempo R&B vibe but picks up on a harder electro vibe with the Dirty Diana remix. It’s all around a very diverse range of house music genres.”

The Weeknd – The Zone (Chi Duly Remix)
Although, this is one of the more downtempo remixes on the project, it is still one of my favorite. Chi Duly tweaks it just right to make it that much better.

The Weeknd – D.D. (Chi Duly Remix)
Chi Duly’s remix of “D.D.” is one of the harder electro tracks on the album and really brings a new energy to the song. I believe I can even hear bits of Michael Jackson’s original version in the chorus.

The Weeknd – Glass Table Girls (Chi Duly Remix)
This remix is actually one of my favorite’s off the project but I am actually unaware of the original. I think the track is one of the unreleased The Weeknd tracks that didn’t make any of his projects.

The Weeknd – Echoes of Silence (Chi Duly Remix)
Definitely one of the standout tracks on the project, this “Echoes of Silence” remix starts off slow until tribal house kicks in. At that point, it will be difficult for you to not get up and start dancing.

The Weeknd – The Morning (feat. Dunson) (Chi Duly Remix)
This bonus cut was actually released last Fall and features up-and-comer Dunson on the vocals. Between the hypnotizing beat and the smooth vocals, this one is also easily one of my favorites.
