Wednesday was an interesting day for me- no, not really. I slept in for longer than usual but was unfortunately woken up by the sound of the door bell. I already had an idea of who it was going to be, because it is always the same person ringing the door bell around that time. It was the postman, who is usually everyone's favourite person right? They're like another Santa. They often give us early Christmas presents throughout the year. Even though my postman is slightly rude and would usually ring the door bell once, wait for literally five seconds and then leave a note telling me to collect it at the post office. Seriously, can't he ever wait for a little longer? Five seconds does not give me enough time to get out of bed, find my house keys, walk to the door and open it! I sometimes even try to stop him from leaving by shouting in the silence, "I'm coming!!!" but the guy still leaves immediately regardless of what I do. As a result, I have to always waste my time and visit the post office to collect my parcels. Speaking of which, I can finally drive and it is such a great feeling! It was quite nerve-wrecking at first but I have gotten use to it and have been driving myself everywhere. I came to the conclusion that driving relaxes me, especially on days where I am completely exhausted from work, or uni. I am not a big fan of driving through peak hour though.

Moving on, I opened the Asos package and remembered that I ordered a top, and black dungarees. I was madly in love with both items that I had to immediately wear them out. This may not be necessary but I need to spend a few moments to express my love for this fantastic crop top. Firstly, it's a turtle neck-cropped top (my two favourites!), it is glittery andddd made of velvet material. What a freaken genius combination.

I have also been wearing these Senso boots everywhere. My love for these boots are insane. Actually, let me rephrase, my newly-founded love for boots in general is insane. I don't even wear heels that often anymore. I had to complete the look with another new beanie that has been added to my collection. If you could not tell through my Instagram already, I have been sporting the beanie look quite regularly. There are two main reasons to this:

1) My hair needs to be re-dyed ASAP

2) It makes my hair look decent, even when I am actually experiencing a bad hair day.

This post contains a lot of writing so I do apologise as most of the content is just me explaining my love for clothes...

Hashtag- Just Do It

Who says you cannot incorporate sneakers into your everyday outfits? This is my take on styling sneakers with casual wear. I am so thankful that Cathy forced me to buy a pair of Nike's when she was ordering hers, as I kept putting it off for months. I have always wanted a pair but could never justify to buy sneakers over other shoes on my wishlist (trust me, there's many). I specifically chose this pair because I was attracted to the fluorescent purple and green combination. Moreover, I have not seen anyone else in Adelaide wearing the same colours. Honestly though, I have realised that I do have a soft spot for purple/lilac and green/mint shoes.

Coco Made Me Do It

The monochromatic look is definitely an autumn trend that I will be sporting quite regularly this season. I am in love with how sophisticated black and white statement pieces look when paired together. I received numerous amounts of stares and compliments on this fantastically-rad beanie when I wore it to go to uni and to a VIP event at SABA later on during the night.

Without a doubt, these pleather shorts are my current favourite. I have to admit, I have been wearing these everywhere since it arrived in the mail. I mean, it's difficult to transition to find alternative bottoms when these are terribly comfortable.

Sweet Lovin'

I have been wearing this versatile dress almost everywhere lately. My favourite parts of this dress are the large, triangular cut-out at the back and the overall baggy fit. I decided to take my Jeffrey Campbells out to play because they have been neglected ever since I realised how comfy flat shoes were. Surprisingly, I walked around in these for the majority of the day, up until 11 pm and my feet weren't even sore. However, I had to hold the hat around when it was dark, as it was becoming quite ridiculous to be wearing a hat during that time. It was a good thing that I did not experience crazy hat hair or anything when I took it off.

I spent the afternoon having Japanese for lunch then lazing around this cute, little street. Did you know that when I sleep with my hair slightly damp, the morning result is this? I have never realised how wavy my hair could become until recently. It's actually a great discovery because it minimalises the amount of times I need to straighten or curl my hair. My hair is damaged enough, and yet it needs to be dyed again. Unfortunately, I keep contemplating on whether I should go darker, lighter, or the same. What is your opinion on this? I'm desperately seeking for some genuine advice. x

A New Beginning

I am currently on a two- week break from uni and I here I am, sitting on my computer, and chatting to my cousin. Not only that, I am finally in a quiet space, having some “me” time where I am able to only focus on my blog and its content. Lately, my life has been rather hectic as I am trying to get use to the uni life as well as other miscellaneous agendas including work, volunteering, and keeping up with my social life (har har). Yet, blogging still plays an important part too. However, what saddens me is I finally came to the realisation that I have recently lost my blogging touch. I feel that my blog has unintentionally lost its meaning and that it is becoming a generic, materialistic blog with meaningless texts. In saying so, I do love blogging and will obviously continue to blog. That is why I want to change my approach to blogging. I want to make it a more genuine yet interesting blog where you as the reader, can understand me more as a person- rather than just see my style transformations.

With the numerous amounts of blogs created every day, it becomes extremely competitive in the internet world/ blogging industry to try and make your blog stand out from the rest. It is the regular readers that keep me going- to blog each time because often, I am lost as to what I should write about. Yes, I know that a clear answer to my previous sentence is to post about my personal style. However it’s the text that always leave me clueless. Like my cousin said, the text itself is just as important as the photos. There is never much to say about an outfit without it sounding boring i.e. “I wore this top, to match this skirt” – I believe the images already speak for itself in regards to that.

What I am trying to say is, I am going to document and blog more about the daily stuff that happen in my life. I use to do this but stopped as I felt that no one was going to be interested in what I did on a daily basis. I understand that not everyone is going to read it because a lot of people who chance upon this blog, only view the photos. I mean, I take no offense to that as it is definitely one of the perks of fashion blogging- more photos, less text. However, for the actual readers out there who are curious as to what is going on in my life, I shall inform you a little more, rather than just posting photos of what I am wearing.

Finally, before I bore you all with my self-realisations tonight, I hope that my future posts will be more worth reading. I honestly am apologetic for all this as I have never really realised until I actually sat down and thought about it hard enough. This is why I am terribly grateful to even have readers on my blog. So thank you again, for reading and possibly coming back to this site, YOU are seriously the best! x

Casper&pearl's "Secret Garden" Launch

I do sincerely apologise that this is a truly belated blog post regarding casper&pearl's "Secret Garden" launch. But hey, it's better late than never right? Despite how overdue it is, I could not help but urged to post up these pretty photos of Karibu Boutique, (where the event was held), as well as the thoughtful effort put into the event. A good summary of my night would include soothing live music being played, two picturesque models, cute, girly clothes, delicious cupcakes, and being surrounded by great people. Here is a video from the night, and if you stay until the end (2:12), you would be able to see Cathy, Mikaela and myself for a few seconds.

How was your childhood like? Mine, if you ask was something like this: wearing jelly sandals around shopping centres with my mother. This time last year, I would be giggling on the streets of Adelaide if an adult walked past me wearing jelly sandals, but how my views, a year later have changed. I've been quite addicted to these colourful babies, even though the attention that I seek from strangers on the street is rather amusing.

Four Seasons

Coats, coats and more coats. Now that autumn has finally kicked in, there is a sudden realisation that my wardrobe urgently needs a new, winter update. Thus, when I was kindly approached by Wish to select something from their new lookbook, my eyes were all over this fitted sweater. It is such a versatile piece, especially to wear to uni when I'm rushing to leave the house.

I threw over this beautifully, structured coat to complete the look. Strangely, I have never featured the coat in a proper, outfit post even though it has been patiently sitting in my wardrobe, awaiting for the perfect occasion to be worn out. Structured coats is the way to go this winter.

I am in need of this four-day weekend. I definitely need the time and opportunity to catch up with uni work, as well as editing photos for the blog. Aside from all this blabber, I wish everyone a wonderful Easter xx

I seem to always love my thrifted pieces. This oversized, checkered shirt/ outerwear is one of my wardrobe favourites. I decided to over accessorize this casual outfit with my chained necklace, beanie, bracelets, and cute socks. Even though I knew I was going to be five minutes late to class, I still cheekily snuck in a bit of shopping, visited Sportsgirl and purchased the beanie. Aren't I rebellious. Oh, and how cute is that zebra print on my top!

I was in one of those moods where I just wanted to be extremely comfortable in what I was wearing. However in saying so, I have always been wearing comfortable clothes, otherwise I would not be able to leave the house without regretting that I should have worn something else. I mean, you have to be comfortable in what you wear to be able to rock it well right? Wow, did I just use the word comfortable three times in each sentence (four times now...)

Yes, as over-rated as camo print is already, this is my fancy interpretation of the trendy, fall trend as it is now autumn in Australia. Yesterday's weather was much cooler in comparison to the previous days when the temperature would hit around thirty eight degrees celcius. On those days, I could never be bothered to accessorize as I am already struggling to come to a decision on what clothing items can attempt to help me remain cool when I leave the house and get ready to head to Uni. Is it not insane that I once thought about wearing this pleather cap outside when the temperature was sizzling hot? Just imagine all the sweat that would be coming through the hat..

One of my favourite combinations in the fall is to combine camo and leather together. I had the opportunity to wear my new cap from Bardot and this fancy, pleather skater skirt from Beginning Boutique. I have been religiously wearing this skirt everywhere for the past week. Not only do I love how it sits nicely on my waist, I love that it is slightly different to the typical skater skirts because of th small triangle detailing at the bottom. I am also addicted to basic pieces, if not yet already obvious, and thus could not say no to this grey tee from Junk Clothing. What I love about basics is tha you have the opportunity to style each piece in numerous ways, for example, how I pinned some quirky badges onto it. I had to complete this look by wearing tattoo tights and cut-out boots.

I do apologize for neglecting my blog and am in the process of trying to plan out a blog schedule to post on a more regular basis as I, myself get bored of reading blogs that aren't often updated.. But please forgive me! Follow me on Instagram (silkybow) for many other updates XOXO

I've been complaining about the humid weather in Adelaide for quite some time now. Today was one of those random, rainy days during the summer and I immediately took advantage of it to wear some new pieces out. This included the baggy sweater and the feminine maxi dress. I love the splits on the sides of the dress, it is so beautifullllllllll. However, after venturing throughout the day, I wasn't so sure whether wearing a long dress, with cut-out boots was very appropriate for wet weather. (It is clearly evident if you take a look at the bottom of my dress - yikes!) Thanks for reading and have a lovely Thursday tomorrow xx

Casper&Pearl 'Secret Garden' A/W 13

At last, I am finally able to share with you all the behind the scenes of casper&pearl's 'Secret Garden' A/W campaign shoot. I fell madly in love with this collection when I first saw what the brand had to offer this time around. The beautiful yet ever so kind model, Sarah Davies is definitely natural at her job as every pose she did was picture-perfect through my camera. In my eyes, she is a great representation of the label. Thus, it was a difficult job to short-list and compile my favourite images to post here (I wouldn't want to spam you with hundreds of photos now would I?) As you can see through each photo, there are sneak peaks of the collection which will be officially released in a week's time, the 27th of February on www.casperandpearl.com. However you are able to preorder too!

I was fortunate enough to try on some of Stacey's pieces- the red sweater and the cute, floral pair of shorts (one of my favourite from the collection). Thought it would be appropriate to throw on some of the props lying around on the table too i.e. the straw hat and flowers to complete the look.

I want to quickly say a big thankyou to Stacey for inviting me to all these shoots, they are incredibly inspiring and it is always exciting to see her newly designed pieces. Furthermore, I love being able to share with you, the reader the collection through my perspective. Thanks Stacey!

Occasionally, I will forget that my hair is actually quite long, and tend to get surprised after my straightening my hair. I remember back in the days when my hair was always the same, short length for years. However these photos were taken a few weeks back when I had less re-growth, and thus hair has grown even more by now! But yes, I will be re-dyeing my hair again soon, but with the usual dilemma of whether to dye it lighter or darker? This is definitely a first world problem (unfortunately). If I was writing this on twitter, I would be able to hashtag that.. However I don't think hashtagging on blogger is acceptable, and thus I won't.

When I first saw these amazing shorts at a boutique, I could not keep my eyes away from them. It was like.. love at first sight. The shorts were calling my name, and I made the purchase. I wore this to catch up with one of my close friends for lunch and spontaneously ended up at the Botanical gardens after. I keep forgetting how beautiful that place is.. Simple skater dresses are great wardrobe statements. I love trying to be creative with how I style casual dresses, other than the typical - wearing a statement necklace and a pair of classy heels. I threw on this oversized, checkered shirt to act as a jacket, over the dress. I opted for the more casual look as I attended the Pedestrian.TV Photography Awards event on Saturday.

These photos were taken on Australia Day and thus.. happy late Australia Day?

It was an adventurous day as Mikaela and I headed to Aldgate for casper&pearl's S/S lookbook shoot. Stacey, owner of casper&pearl never fails to impress me with her beautiful, location finds.

I have recently received some very lovely pieces from Junk Clothing and this sleeveless top was one of many. I love the embroidery pattern and the sheerness from behind. Sometimes it may be challenging to wear sheer tops due to the uncertainty of what to wear underneath. As a result, I use to avoid wearing sheer materials as a whole. One of the style tips that I could possibly recommend is to wear a nude, strapless bra underneath sheer, white tops, (if you want the attention to more drawn towards the top). The nude colour usually blends well with our skin colour and from afar, people are unable to physically see what is underneath therefore, the central focus will be on the top.

I paired it with my green chiffon skirt and mint brogues for some colour matching against the white shades. It was my first time wearing these cute, frilly socks out since I have received it for Christmas in 2011. To complete the look, I wore my floppy hat from Dangerfield because I had the urge to look as summery as possible before the season is coming to an end. The lighting of the photos kept transitioning between sunny and slightly cloudy as the weather could not make up its' mind that day!

Minimalist

I adore this oversized, white dress from American Apparel. However, the funny story is when I first purchased it online, I was very excited to receive it. Yet when the package finally came in the mail, I was disappointed as it looked a whole lot better on the model than it would on me. The baggy fit did not complement my body well and without the appropriate style of shoes, it would not do the dress any justice. In short, I didn't really like it. Alas, it was hanging in my wardrobe for a long duration of time with the tag still on.

When I was admiring these cut-out boots at a Sportsgirl store, one of the outfits that I was quickly styling in my head was exactly this - a minimalist white dress worn with the black boots. It made me remember that I did have a white dress awaiting for me at home.

I definitely admire the simplicity of this monochrome outfit. I had to throw over a cream cardigan as the weather was rather cold during the morning. Nevertheless, it still matched my outfit perfectly well. Decked out in all- white is one of my favourite trends this season.

Red Silhouette

It has been a long time since I have done any thrift shopping. Fortunately for me, whenever I do go, I am able to find great treasures hidden among the racks of clothes. I usually do not have the patience to carefully flick through every item possible. Instead, I would scan through the aisles, looking at the pattern/ material of each piece and stop at one if it appeals to my eyes. I came to realise that I always find myself looking for more blouses. It is my favourite section because I simply adore blouses with unique patterns.
On Thursday, Mikaela and I went to a large thrift store in Noarlunga. Funnily enough, the trip there was stressing because we kept driving on unfamiliar roads. However, once there, we spent over an hour browsing and was tremendously exhausted by the time we had finished. Mikaela literally bought a whole basket full of clothes whilst I made quite a few blouse purchases. Hopefully, I will be able to wear it once the weather cools down a little more. We ended the night treating ourselves to delicious pizzas at Botanic Bar and experiencing interesting situations along the way.. Nonetheless, it was definitely a fun day.

I wore this beautiful maxi dress from Sugar Lips. The rope detailing at the back as well as the pattern certainly makes the dress a whole lot more interesting and different. I wanted to style it a little differently by tying a knot at the bottom of the dress with a hairtie. This was because I wanted to display more of my edgy, new pair of boots. Well... now that we are on the topic of the shoes, I must say that I am currently obsessed with it. I am so glad that I made this purchase as I can already see it as my new wardrobe statement for the upcoming autumn season. I love the cut-outs on the side and the fact that it isn't too chunky to wear. I added a belt on my waist as I particularly prefer that area to be a little tighter than the rest of my body. I decided that wearing my studded headband and applying vampy-looking lipstick (M.A.C.'s Diva) was necessary to complete this look. Thanks for reading!

Why hello there,
Sorry that I have not been blogging as regularly lately. I've been quite caught up with other things in my life and unfortunately, it means no time to blog. Even when I did, I'd rather wait until I was in the "blogging" mood as I would want the content to hopefully be more interesting for you to read/ view.
Last month, I was kindly asked by the lovely Stacey, owner of the Adelaide brand casper&Pearl to come to their A/W 2013 Winter campaign lookbook shoot. I was completely over the moon as I've always known about this brand, and I have always loved all their pieces! If you have never heard of this cute brand then I suggest you visit their site.

This is a little sneak peak/ behind the scene photos of what casper&Pearl has to offer to all you girls very soon. Trust me, the A/W campaign is going to look ah-maze-ing when it is released. I cannot even describe how beautiful the photoshoot location was and not to mention the gorgeous model. Movie Night

Today is a Thursday and university offers have just been officially released. Last night however, for some apparent and odd reason I was able to check my offers when I came home. Yes, I got accepted into my desired course, which, if you are wondering is a Bachelor of Laws double degrees with Commerce! I am still tremendously stoked as I have been wanting to get into this course throughout the whole of last year. Finally, after many, many nights at the library studying for exams, I did it! I just want to thank everyone who was there to support me last year because it definitely motivated me to try and do well. It is also great news to hear my other friends being offered the courses that they wanted too. I can't wait to embark a new schooling journey this year.

This is what I wore yesterday when Cathy and I went to watch Alice in Wonderland at Rocketbar Rooftop. I purchased this baggy sweater recently as I thought it would be a wonderful piece and wardrobe statement to wear this year when I am in a rush to go to Uni. I love the long sleeves and the loose V neck detailing. I am quite attracted to V necks lately, not sure why, but I am.

As I wanted attention to be drawn towards the sweater more, I wore the circle skirt beneath it. Of course, I paired the outfit with my Tardy because they suit with practically anything. Although, it has been a while since the last time I wore them, I came to the realisation that they are less comfortable than before, which was during the period where I wore them out all the time. I began to notice that they are rather heavy and are best worn on flat ground. Not to also mention that I sound like a house galloping when I walk upstairs in them (haha). Oh well, I still love them.

Sportsgirl blazer & heels, Dress c/o Kristine's Collection, Forever New belt

This is what I wore on my 18th birthday. I thought it was the perfect occasion to wear this gorgeous, pastel purple dress from Kristine's Collection. I love the embroidery detailing at the bottom of the dress and the sheer detailing on the collar. It slightly reminds me of my formal dress that I wore in 2011. I chucked on this beautiful, beautiful floral print blazer from Sportsgirl because the weather was becoming more chilly towards the evening. I am so obsessed with this new piece in my wardrobe. The tropical floral print is amazing and I love the pastel colours. It is clearly one of my favourite summer items this month.
