Thoughts of the week? Too many.

2026-10-21T07:30:57.351-07:00

It has been busy and everything is falling apart. My car is on its' last legs. As the service person listed all that is wrong, he wanted to give me some good news - "your tires are good." My reponse, "Well, let's wait to see if I can sell and move to Niagara Falls." Of course the housing market is the lowest it has been since......

Then my washing machine broke down twice and it cost almost as much as a new one. Samsung which served me well in the past, doesn't any longer so I switched to Maytag. It was supposed to arrive Saturday and it did but it was too damaged to use, so another is supposed to arrive today. I have an enormous amount of laundry to do and did't realize how much clothing I have. It simply lasts forever. Let's see what happens today. The only reason I haven't gone to a laundry mat is because there is no parking. There is lots of parking in Niagara Falls. There were more breakdowns and associated costs, but I surrender. The positives? I have food to eat. I have a warm bed and I am fortunate to have a good family so I don't have insecurities so many now have in Canada. We always need to count what is positive in our lives where everything seems downstream, but it is not. So Alberta is going to remain in Canada and so much money was wasted to figure that one out, that could have been better spent. Quebec is going to wait for Trump to step down before they start and quite frankly I am tired of this. You want to leave Canada - go. Find something better, but pack your own suit case and bye bye. If you find a better country please tell the rest of the world. The world now seems out of control, but it isn't. The majority of people are good and care for each other. More wisdom is required to choose better leaders and to recognize when they fail to be democratic. There was also a tragedy in Wainwright where four soldiers died and dozens more are in hospial with burn injuries. What can I say about all the suffering there? Regardless of all that seems wrong with the world, recognize that there is also so much good. Take time to reflect each day and to spend time with nature.

Take care of yourselves.

Wonderful Thanksgiving with family

Oh boy - New Real Estate Agent - Toronto Realestate Market lowest priced market ever

2026-10-07T07:49:49.355-07:00

So, I had a wife and husband team real estate couple with 22 years experience each come to my home last night for an up to date price check. I know the family so it is a plus. It is also Royal LePage which I have dealt with in the past so that is good as well. I brought them up to date with my experiences last year and two of my art pieces disappearing (one Robert Bateman and the other a mid 1800). That still annoys me. I was told that the market has never been as bad as it is right now. The only bonus is that Niagara Falls is even cheaper. Spring had picked up, the World series Cup became a stand still and things picked up again when it was over. Mr T's tarrifs then came along and killed the market. Jobs became threatened. When I say Mr T, it is not the A Team, but the Zero team. So there are three ways I can go - Price a bit higher, price lower (but there are no bidding wars) or price the market. I still don't regret waiting until my pets died to sell in a horrible market. They were worth so much to me and I keep my pets for life. They also live for a very long time before I have to make the painful decision.

So, what to do? For now I will hire them to bring anyone who may be interested in my house only. I will find out what the market price is during the end of the week. November will be the testing date. In the meantime, I will re-arrange my furniture once again and plan each room. I will do some small upgrades.

I will then decide if I am going to put up the sign in the Spring. I probably will unless it plummets. I am hoping the Mr T, loses the mid term elections and that he is impeached. I have never hoped for this in a democratic country, but Mr T tried to destroy us and so it becomes personal. I don't want harm to come to him - I want Justice to pervail. If he continues to prosper, then I may just test the market again. My plan is to move to Niagara before I need a wheel chair, travel, before settling down with pets once again. My social calendar will be full and it is now, so I don't think that will interfere with re-location.

So for now have a Happy Thanksgiving Canada!!!

Attending the Tomb - They hold on til the end.

2nd last function - good news according to Mark. Reminded Miracle Stories to believe to have life.

Another thread - how we approached the text 1. narrative approach. 2. social political - alert to signals of what is going on there and how does that influence the text. What goes on now also seeps into the text - how we read. What is each of our locations have to do with our readings. To be suspicious is to be alert.

Today that continues. A more mundane aspect. What does it mean to read from an economics position?

Mark Method (edited by Anderson and Moore)

No matter how little we have, we should always give. Where are we comfortable and where do we pull back.

In Mark - parables are ambiguous. Chap 9 -Power; Chap 10 - Kingdom to little children.

Remembering 9/11

2026-09-11T07:01:32.640-07:00

Today I will be watching CNN and our Canadian Channels to remember 9/11. I cannot believe that was 25 years ago. My sympathies goes out to all the families and survivors and to those who sacrificed their lives. I also thank all who reached out to help - Gander.

More on Enercare

2026-09-04T06:01:49.667-07:00

Enercare has recorded 1,141 total customer complaints over the last three years on the Better Business Bureau. [1] (https://www.bbb.org/.../enercare-home.../complaints)

This should be fun. Some complaints are ignoring cancellations. I have copied the above from google. Next Door has used some colourful language in sharing their experiences. My question is why are they allowed to operate this way? I shall find out. Imagine being told I need a replacement part and then receiving an email that I do not (because it is insured). Apparently it is now a corporation. I have not verified that, but it would explain. Is this really a Canadian Company? I shall find out. With the tensions between us and the States, we are trying to support Canadian, but then one may ask, is this being taken advantage of? I won't stop until the part is replaced and I cancel without a problem. The complaints I read about is terrible. When companies change hands, we should be notified and not find out due to incompetence and greed. Of course I am only recording here what complaints are on line and here say. Maybe Enercare will prove them wrong. What do you think? Who does own Enercare? All Canadian? The government is now helping Canadian Businesses.

Frustrated today with Enercare - Looks like I am going to have to drop them. Too bad. They used to be fantastic.

2026-09-03T13:33:36.401-07:00

I have had insurance for both my furnace and central air with Enercare for years. I had someone come and clean both which is covered. The service man was great as usual. He has been here before. He told me that one piece had to be replaced in my furnace which was covered by my insurance. I was expecting the person yesterday or today. I received two separate emails today that all was fine. So I called to complain and it was obviously a calling station (overseas). The man refused to let me speak to a manager and kept repeating himself. So, I hung up on him because the experience was becoming daunting. I called Customer Service. This time I reached the Caribbean, which was much better. I wanted to lay an official complaint against the previous person who refused to transfer me to a manager. I now have an appointment and expect the person to come with the replacement part. Anyone have problems with Enercare? They used to run very efficiently but it appears they are looking for labour outside our country to deal with complaints. No number could be provided in Toronto. I support Canadian workers so it appears I have a decision to make. Next step? The government if this is not resolved.

Do you want to come with me to Substack?

2026-08-31T08:38:48.230-07:00

I am still going to continue writing my Theology notes on this blog. I shall probably continue with psychology notes as well. However, since retirement I am re-examing all I do as a writer. Where is my time spent? Why do I always suspend my writing of my next book? Do I need to find a new schedule? Why? I can do what I want so what will that look like?

All time readers of my blogs are 397,920. Today 1,933: yesterday 1833: This month 90577; last month 34038. My readers are from all over the world. Some are scammers of course and others are not. But, not one has bought a book on line, well maybe a few. I know where in the world my readers are from. If a book is ordered I know where to send it.

I do not like it that Google gets to make so much money from me while I made what $20.00? So I am trying to have you all transfer from here to Substack. I learned about the benefits in a few webinars and am still navigating my way. You can subscribe and either pay or not. I have given you that option. I have also lowered the payment for more flexibility. You do have to supply an email, while you don't here. I am hoping to yes eventually make some money, but to get rid of the scammers is my priority. Anyhow, have a nice day. It is raining in Toronto but it will be very humid. I am feeling a bit restless and am eager to go out. Will I go or will I stay? What do you think?
