Both Echinacea and green tea enhance the immune system. Echinacea is also known to shorten the duration of colds and along with raspberry leaf is excellent for soothing sore throats.

Echinacea has been used for hundreds of years because of it’s natural anti-viral properties. It has an ability to kick-start a person’s immune system and causes the body to produce more white blood cells that attack bacterial invaders. It is a natural antibiotic which can fight infections caused by common colds and flus.

Raspberry leaf has also been used for centuries as a remedy, including helping pregnant women find relief from morning sickness. It is also helpful in fighting anemia, leg cramps and diarrhea. It can be a great boon against colds and sore throats given it is considered an astringent herb.

Ingredients: Chamomile, Peppermint and Spearmint.

Chamomile has some positive effects with the digestive system, including treating indigestion itself. There are some who use it to effectively combat the symptoms of Crohn’s disease and diarrhea. However, the reason we put it in the Relaxer tea is because it is useful for easing feelings of anxiety, helps fight insomnia. We put the peppermint and spearmint into the tea also because of their positive effects with regards sleep.

While there is a ratio of 1:1/2:1/2 chamomile to spearmint to peppermint, which means that when drinking your average pot of tea you’re using on average 2 teaspoons of chamomile I would be remiss in not pointing out that chamomile is part of the ragweed and chrysanthemum family so there is a possibility that people with those allergies might also have reactions to chamomile, including hives or vomiting. It should also not be taken while pregnant or breastfeeding and can have a blood thinning effect, so if you’re already on blood-thinners, such as warfarin, be careful as to how much you ingest. If you have had surgery don’t drink any chamomile teas for two weeks after just to be safe.

In positive things to note there are no tea leaves in this tea, so there is no caffeine whatsoever in the mix.

Signature Black: China Black Tea, Hibiscus flowers, Pomegranate flowers.

Apologies for the weirdness of this week’s picture. I had to reverse engineer it as I’m out of pomegranate flower for the time being.

This tea is a very good tea for boosting the immune system, as I covered last week with the Signature Green; pomegranate flower is good for helping to improve memory and helps boost immune functions, it’s also rich in antioxidants. Hibiscus is a brilliant source of vitamin C, and can reduce high blood pressure and lower cholesterol levels.

So, this tea is a great healthful alternative to coffee. Though I should note that as with most of our teas it’s lower in caffeine than the coffee alternative. Our China Black tea has around 1/3 of the caffeine of a cup of coffee, but with the Vitamin C of the hibiscus it will still give you your get up and go in the morning without the potential for pesky jitters.

Hop by our facebook page to vote on what tea I should cover next week, and Subscribe to our feed to be sure and catch the write up!
This tea was a labor of love. We had really wanted to make teas with the pomegranate flowers as pomegranate has been the company symbol. However they are extremely bitter when put into tea so we had to be very careful about what we mixed them with in order to make the tea palatable and have it be useful herbally at the same time.

Important to note, firstly, is that the Sencha Green tea is decaffeinated but still has all the nifty tannin and antioxidant properties of green tea.

The pomegranate flower is rich in antioxidants, and pomegranate is known to help improve memory. The flower has also, according to Australian research studies, been shown to help against hyperglycemia, and helps the integrity and function of joints and enhancing immune function.

Yarrow is highly useful medicinally given it works against severe colds and abdominal cramps as well as ulcers, skin irritation, abscesses and can reduce inflammation.

Licorice root which was put in as a sweetener is also helpful as a stress reliever, and can help treat colds as well as relieving symptoms of GERD. There are some research indicators that licorice can also help with weight loss.

Next week we’ll be featuring our Signature Black tea, which has China Black tea, pomegranate and hibiscus flowers in it. <a href=http://feeds.feedburner.com/SilverPathTarot">Subscribe to the blog to make sure you don’t miss that, or our tarot features.

What to say about the Calendula tea? It’s really yummy! Seriously — it’s one of our top sellers.

While Calendula is considered a bittersweet, salty herb, when coupled with the apricot infused black tea it becomes a very awesome tea. Calendula is good for digestion and helps relieve colitis. It is very soothing for the stomach and helps greatly with digestion issues while boosting the immune system. For the ladies it can also help to regulate menstrual disorders easing that terrible time of the month that we all like to forget about when possible.

So the upshot is, very yummy tea, awesome health benefits.

Last night I used random.org to pick the winner. This is drawn among the participants in the One Card Draw on February 11th. The draw happened last night at around 11 p.m. and then my screen-cap attempts weren’t doing very well so I left the window up until this morning.

I blame being brain dead. I’d spent most of the day dealing with a sick child and sleeping myself :/ because I was completely exhausted. We’ve had a draining couple of weeks after my father-in-law’s passing.

So, the drawing done. Corby has won the reading.

Congratulations to Corby!

Thank you to everyone who took part in the drawing on the 11th. I hope you’ve had a safe and happy time. Best of luck!

Don’t forget to hop on over to The Silver Path facebook page to vote on which of our teas I’ll feature next Tuesday! Thank you.

Ingredients: A blend of Organic Green Tea, Panfired Green Tea, St. John’s Wort, Lemon Balm and Peppermint

I came up with this tea blend in honor of my mother and her time spent watching my son so that I could help with market.

As I said last week peppermint is known to being a calming herb and is helpful in elevating a person’s mood. St. John’s Wort is known as a natural mood elevator, there’s a great deal of evidence that St. John’s Wort is helpful in treating minor depression, and therefore helping elevate mood. I must say that if you take St. John’s Wort in great amounts it can have a negative affect if you’re already taking anti-depressants for major depression. However, the amount and ratio in our tea is negligible.

We added the lemon balm because it has been found to be effective in reducing stress.
